History
The Apple Blossom faced some opposition in its selection as the state flower due to its biblical role in Adam and Eve’s expulsion from the Garden of Eden.
Fun Fact
Apples and crabapples are members of the rose family.

The Apple Blossom was chosen as the state flower of Arkansas during a time when the state was one of the largest apple producers in the U.S. For more than a quarter century after the designation as the Arkansas state flower, the flowering Apple Blossom dominated the state’s landscape and agriculture.
The industry brought the state so much notoriety that the small, northwestern town of Rogers organized an Apple Blossom Festival to promote the region. The celebratory event includes colorful floats, the coronation of an Apple Queen, and draws thousands of visitors from across the country. A newspaper in nearby Fort Smith boldly predicted that Arkansas would soon be competing with California and Florida as a “playground for the nation.”
But such aspirations would never materialize. In 1927, the state’s top crop were damaged by disease and severe frost. Apple production plummeted, and Arkansas’ days as a top apple-producing state were finished.
Even though apples no longer dominate the state’s agriculture today, the state flower continues to have a presence when the flowers bloom each April and May. The Arkansas state flowers are clusters of pink or white petals. These delicate blooms give off a honeysuckle scent that attracts bees to the trees where they carry out the important work of pollinating them.
Once Apple Blossom flowers bloom and are pollinated, they develop into fruit and grow to their mature yet small size by late summer. While apples from many trees can be eaten, the fruit that grows after the Arkansas state flower has fallen is largely ornamental. It is sometimes used to make jams and jellies.

Morning, Pat! I remember when I was living in VA in a house with wood-stove heating….loading up the wood, turning the damper down so it burns more slowly, etc., etc. It was decidedly chilly by morning!
I enjoyed visiting with my GS yesterday and I finally got to see some pics of my great-granddaughter – another one in May, same as her Mom and my GS! Unfortunately, she has some health issues and has been in the hospital a couple of times – no doubt all the stupid vax’s they give babies nowadays since her Mom lives in a fantasy world of “trust the doctors,” but then, she is also butt-buddies with my POS SIL so that alone should tell you something. But she’s a cutie and looks JUST like her Momma!

“Florida stands with President @realDonaldTrump!,” the party said in a statement on the X social media platform. “Today, the Florida GOP proudly endorsed Trump for President. It is time Republicans come together to DEFEAT Biden and save the future of our nation,” it added.
The decision for the entire party to endorse Trump occurred at the state GOP convention on Friday and was announced the next day. It comes after Trump handily won the first three presidential primary contests of 2024, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dropped from the race.”

Hamas Military Compound Found Beneath U.N. Agency Headquarters in Gaza
Subterranean complex had air-conditioned room with computer servers, office space
GAZA CITY—Hidden deep below the headquarters of the United Nations’ aid agency for Palestinians here is a Hamas complex with rows of computer servers that Israel’s armed forces say served as an important communications center and intelligence hub for the Islamist militant group.
Part of a warren of tunnels and subterranean chambers carved from the Gaza Strip’s sandy soil, the compound below the United Nations Relief and Works Agency buildings in Gaza City appears to have run on electricity drawn from the U.N.’s power supply, Israeli officials said.
A Wall Street Journal reporter and journalists from other news organizations visited the site this past week in a trip organized by Israel’s military. A tunnel also appeared to pass beneath a U.N.-run school near the headquarters.
Israel’s discovery of the Hamas operations below UNRWA offices is likely to put further pressure on the agency, which is facing international scrutiny after Israeli allegations that at least 12 of its employees had links to Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel, which authorities say killed 1,200 people.

yesterday when i talked to Mom, she told me she went to BJ’s –a warehouse type club that she belongs to. she said their prices finally caught up to grocery store prices and she wasn’t going to renew her membership.
then, out of the blue, she asks me what i thought of Trump? Now Mom and i never discussed politics in m whole life. Dad? oh yeah, he and i argued and conversed about the subject constantly. But Mom never expressed an interest at all. Now here she was asking…
I told her I liked Trump–voted for him twice and will again. She said she likes him. The years under him were so much better than they are now. Prices were better, she said, and no wars and you felt safe in your own neighborhood. not no more. she said. Then she said—i never voted before in my life (she’s 85) but I think i’ll get registered and vote THIS time.

“Hungary’s president resigns after pardoning a man who was an accomplice in a child sexual abuse case—Novák was elected president in 2022 and announced during a televised message that she would be resigning.
By Charlotte Hazard

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Hungarian President Katalin Novák resigned on Saturday following public outcry over her decision to pardon a man who was convicted for being an accomplice in a child sexual abuse case. Novák was elected president in 2022 and announced during a televised message that she would be resigning.
“I issued a pardon that caused bewilderment and unrest for many people,” she said, according to the AP. “I made a mistake.”
Novák, 46, was Hungary’s first female president and youngest person to ever hold that office. She was considered a key ally of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
She issued the pardon in April of 2023 to a man who helped cover up multiple cases of child sexual abuse in a state-run children’s home. The man had been sentenced in 2018 to more than three years in prison after being found guilty of pressuring the victims to retract their claims of sexual abuse by the director of the institution. The director had been sentenced to eight years for abusing at least 10 children over a period of more than a decade.
“I decided in favor of clemency in April of last year in the belief that the convict did not abuse the vulnerability of the children entrusted to him. I made a mistake,” Novák said during her speech. “I apologize to those I have hurt and to any victims who may have felt I am not standing up for them.”

Entire article @ JustTheNews: “A woman who was using “interstate communications” to threaten the Florida judge overseeing former President Donald Trump’s classified documents case has been sentenced to three years in prison.
Tiffani Gish, 50, from Houston, Texas, was sentenced on Friday for leaving U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon threatening voicemails and using interstate communications to do so, according to The Hill.
Gish also claimed to be a member of military combat units who had experience and was “familiar with weapons of war.” She also threatened that Cannon would get a “bullet in the head.”
Gish’s threat to have Cannon assassinated in front of her family was for “helping” former President Trump, according to CNN. “Donald Trump has been disqualified long ago, and he’s marked for assassination. You’re helping him, ma’am,” Gish allegedly said to Cannon in a voicemail, reported CNN.
“He’s marked for assassination and so are you,” she allegedly said, and told Judge Cannon to “stand the f*ck down or get shot.”
U.S. District Judge David Hittner sentenced Gish to 37 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release. Gish is expected to remain in custody before being transferred to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility, according to the Department of Justice.
“Holding Tiffani Gish accountable for her threats to assassinate a federal judge sends a strong message that we have no tolerance for those — who often hide behind a far-off keyboard or phone line — seeking to undermine our democratic institutions by threatening the safety of the people who help those same institutions thrive,” U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani said, according to The Hill.”

“HOUSTON – A 50-year-old Houston resident has been sentenced for using interstate communications to threat, kidnap or injure, announced U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani.
Tiffani Shea Gish aka Evelyn Salt pleaded guilty Nov. 9, 2023.
U.S. District Judge David Hittner has now ordered Gish to serve 37 months in federal prison to be immediately followed by three years of supervised release. At the hearing, the court heard additional evidence about mental health problems and that Gish had previously left threatening messages for various government agencies. In handing down the sentence, Judge Hittner noted that he was concerned for the safety of the public and protecting the judiciary.
On Sept. 1, 2022, Gish left three threatening voicemails on the chamber’s telephone of a U.S. district judge from Florida. In the messages, Gish claimed to be a member of several military combat units, trained and familiar with weapons of war….”

“Biden Recounts Time He Parted The Red Sea To Escape Slavery In Mexico”
POLITICS · Feb 9, 2024 · BabylonBee.com
WASHINGTON, D.C. — During a press conference conducted to prove he is still mentally fit to lead the country, President Joe Biden recounted the time he parted the Red Sea to escape slavery in Mexico.
The president spoke to a gathering of reporters to assuage growing fears that he is no longer competent to serve, telling everyone that he is just as fit to lead today as he was the day he led a large multitude through the Red Sea on dry land to leave the oppression of the Mexican king.
“Here’s the deal,” Biden shouted aggressively. “All this talk about my fitness to serve as president is malarkey. My memory is sharp as a tack, folks. I can remember clear as day how it felt to stand in front of the… stand up there… stand in front… in front of the… the guy… the king of Mexico… and tell him ‘Listen up, Jack. Let all these people go, or so help me, I’ll… I’ll… anyway…”
Reporters present at the press conference sat in bewildered silence as the president continued his story. “All that stood between us and freedom was the Red Sea, down there at the Mexican border,” he said. “I raised my staff, the waters parted, and we went through on dry ground. That’s leadership, folks.”
At publishing time, Biden adamantly expressed to the media that he was just as fit to lead the United States as George Washington and John Kennedy are today.”

Biden Calls For The President To Step Down
POLITICS·Feb 8, 2024 · BabylonBee.com
WASHINGTON, D.C. — After the shock of a Special Counsel report that characterized the President as mentally incompetent to stand trial, Biden has joined the growing chorus of voices in calling for the President to step down. “President Hoover needs to do the right thing. He’s in over his head. Can’t even do his job right,” said Biden to the nurse administering him his daily medications. “Eisenhower is an honorable man, and he needs to do the honorable thing. I was speaking with Emperor Hirohito about it just last Saturwednesday. Blamflibbernuzzit!” At publishing time, Republicans had drafted a resolution in support of the President’s call for the President to step down.”

Theologians Confirm Trumpet Blast At Christ’s Coming Will Be Playing ‘The Final Countdown’
THEOLOGY · Feb 10, 2024 · BabylonBee.com
U.S. — Theologians have finally confirmed that when the trumpet blasts to signal the second coming of Christ, the trumpet will be playing the epic ballad “The Final Countdown”.
“When you hear the trumpet blast across the earth, flooding earth with the band Europe’s ultimate rock anthem, the return of Christ is imminent,” said theology professor Dr. Miles Stanley. “Man, that song is a banger! Four notes is all it takes, and you know what you’re in for.”
While a small faction of theologians had posited that the trumpet would play “It’s The End Of The World As We Know It,” ultimately a consensus arose for Europe’s rock standard. “You can just hear the trumpet nailing that intro on ‘The Final Countdown’ as the heavens open,” said theologian Rick Masterson. “It is undeniably epic, soul-stirring, and lyrically poignant. Nothing could be more fitting for Christ’s coming.”
According to sources, theology students have begun pranking their professors by sneaking up with a Bluetooth speaker and suddenly turning on “The Final Countdown” full volume. “Okay, I admit, they got me to look up at the sky to see if the curtains of this earth were rolling back,” said Stanley. “I was annoyed for a moment, but then the song really got going. Man, it just pumps you up!”
At publishing time, theologians had confirmed that only the intro would be played and there would be no weird singing, just that one slamming riff.”

we now have Alaskapox
FTA
An elderly man on the Kenai Peninsula has died from Alaskapox, making him the first person to be killed by the viral disease that was identified only nine years ago, state health officials reported on Friday.
Aside from being the first fatal human case, it is the documented first human infection outside of the Fairbanks area, indicating that the virus, which is known to be harbored by small mammals, has spread beyond the wildlife populations in that Interior community.
The patient, who had an immune system that was compromised because of treatment for cancer, first reported signs of the infection in September when a tender lesion appeared in his armpit area, according to a bulletin issued by the state Division of Public Health’s epidemiology section. The infection worsened, and after six weeks of emergency-care visits, he was hospitalized locally. As the situation deteriorated and his arm movement became impaired, he was transferred to an Anchorage hospital. There, numerous tests were needed to identify the infection, the bulletin said.
Even with treatment, the patient suffered renal failure, respiratory failure, malnutrition and other problems, the bulletin said. He died in late January, the bulletin said. Related to more dangerous diseases
Alaskapox is a disease caused by a virus in what’s known as the orthopox group. It is related to more dangerous viruses that cause monkeypox and smallpox. Like the other orthopox viruses, the virus causing Alaskapox is maintained in and spread by populations of small mammals. Voles, which live nearly everywhere in Alaska, have been found to be especially prominent carriers.
The first case of a human Alaskapox infection was detected in 2015 in the Fairbanks area. The next case emerged in 2020; there were two more in 2021, one in 2022 and one last year, according to state officials. The Kenai Peninsula case is the seventh to be identified.
A common thread in the prior cases, all involving Fairbanks-area patients, was the wooded nature of their homes. Another thread was contact with household pets – cats or dogs – that appeared to have mingled with small mammals.
Until last month’s death, the documented effects of Alaskapox infections in people were fairly mild, with symptoms such as rashes, fevers and fatigue, said Julia Rogers, a state epidemiologist who coauthored the bulletin released Friday.
“All 6 prior cases were identified in an outpatient setting and involved mild illnesses that were largely resolved within a few weeks without hospitalization. None of these patients had significant prior medical history, including immunocompromising conditions,” Rogers said by email.
Like the Fairbanks patients, the Kenai Peninsula patient lived in a forested area, the epidemiology bulletin said. He could have had at least indirect contact with small mammals in the wild, as he reported caring for a stray cat that might have been hunting those mammals, the bulletin said.

From JustTheNews: “The U.S. Senate advanced a foreign aid package in a rare Sunday vote that puts the bill on track to pass later this week despite vocal opposition from conservative Republicans. The 67-27 procedural vote Sunday brings the chamber closer to a vote on a $95 billion aid package, which includes $60 billion for Ukraine, $14 billion for Israel, $4.8 billion for the Indo-Pacific and $9 billion in humanitarian assistance in Gaza, the West Bank and Ukraine, per The Hill.
“I can’t remember the last time the Senate was in session on Super Bowl Sunday,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said before the vote Sunday, according to CBS News. “But as I’ve said all week long, we’re going to keep working on this bill until the job is done.”
Republicans have called for border security funding alongside foreign aid, and they released a bipartisan border security deal last week that the Senate GOP blocked days later following opposition from House Republicans and former President Donald Trump.
“Ukraine is dangerously low on supplies, including ammo and air defenses. If America doesn’t assist Ukraine, Putin is all too likely to succeed,” Schumer said on the Senate floor.
“Our partners don’t have the luxury of pretending that the world’s most dangerous aggressors are someone else’s problem. And neither do we,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said after Schumer spoke. “It is no exaggeration to say that the eyes of the world are on the United States Senate.”
If the bill makes it through the Senate, it still faces an uncertain fate in the House.”

Subsequently going to football practice for the next week or so in a city of a million people with the skies overhead eerily quiet and completely devoid of airplanes was something I’ll never forget. From then on everything; and I mean literally everything, would be different in America, but in a sea of swirling misinformation, disinformation, malinformation and propaganda, most Americans couldn’t decipher the present to foresee the future.
It wasn’t until years later and the aggregation of massive amounts of evidence and analysis that we began to understand the true size and scope of what appeared to be Intelligence Community operations that blamed a flimsy and impossible to believe narrative about hijackers, box cutters and jet fuel that defies all laws of physics to melt steel like butter.
Today we know that 9/11 was the seminal event to usher in Marxist communism through the ratcheting-up of oppressive government power, authority and control that exceeds firm Constitutional boundaries in violation of myriad rights and protections.
COVID-19 was the next major event in furtherance of this IC agenda and World War III is the scheduled closer; acknowledging a long list of other events and developments falling on the same timeline and slotting in between these three major ones.
Three considerations overlay this fact set giving us four points to reconcile: 1-President Joe Biden’s immigration policy that delivered 12+ million illegals, 2-how those illegals stand to function as a fifth column and 3-Biden’s DOJ polices that permit the targeting of Americans based on attributions of “domestic terrorism” and “domestic terrorist” as applied by a corrupt DOJ permitting Biden to hunt is political opposition like Marxists do…..”
