Citrine

What Is Citrine?

Citrine is a transparent variety of quartz with a yellow to orange color. Its attractive color, high clarity, low price, and durability make it the most frequently purchased yellow to orange gem.

Citrine is also a modern birthstone for the month of November. Its designation as a birthstone contributes to its popularity and drives a large number of sales.

The Citrine Color Range

Citrine’s color ranges from yellow, to orangey yellow, to yellowish orange, to brownish orange. The name citrine is used for any transparent quartz in that color range – regardless of its saturation. Stones with a faint color and stones with a rich color are all called “citrine”.

The quality of a stone’s color has an enormous impact on its price. Stones with a faint color are abundant and inexpensive. Stones with a rich, uniform color are rare, valuable, and preferred by buyers.

Reddish orange and reddish brown are rare colors in quartz. Gems of these reddish colors are often called Madeira citrine. The name is after wines of similar color made in the Madeira Islands, an autonomous region of Portugal, located in the North Atlantic Ocean about 450 miles southwest of Portugal.

Birthstone of November

Citrine and topaz both serve as birthstones for the month of November. Topaz was one of the original modern birthstones selected by the National Association of Jewelers in 1912. Citrine was added to the modern birthstones list in 1952.

Citrine and topaz are both available in the yellow to orange color range, but citrine generally has a much lower cost. Citrine has a Mohs hardness of 7 and topaz has a Mohs hardness of 8. That information might make some people believe that topaz has a higher durability than citrine. However, topaz is a brittle mineral that easily breaks by cleavage. It has little, if any, durability advantage over citrine.

Citrine Geodes

One of the most impressive specimens of citrine that you might encounter is a large citrine geode from Brazil.  These are often offered for sale at major gem and mineral shows.  Gem hunters find these geodes in the Brazilian basalt fields, then clean and prepare them to stand as a crystal tower in your living room.  They can be two, or four, or six feet tall – or taller.

Surprisingly, they are not filled with orange to orangy brown citrine when they are found.  Instead, most are filled with purple amethyst crystals.  Somewhere between discovery and the consumer, a decision is made to heat the geodes in industrial ovens to convert the original purple amethyst into an orangy brown citrine.

Why convert a beautiful amethyst geode into a citrine geode?  Because many people who will not buy an amethyst geode will buy a citrine geode because they enjoy the orange color or because citrine is their birthstone.

Natural, Treated, Synthetic

Five categories of citrine exist in the gem and jewelry market. These are:

1. citrine with a natural color
2. citrine with a natural color, but enhanced by treatment
3. citrine produced by heating light amethyst
4. synthetic citrine (a man-made product)
5. imitation citrine (a man-made product that is not SiO2)

All of these are legitimate products; however, sellers should always inform the customer when they are selling gems that have been treated, gems that might have been treated, and especially when they are selling synthetic or imitation materials. Here are a few reasons why…

Natural Color Citrine

Quartz with a natural citrine color is rare. Some people want this natural-color citrine and are willing to pay a premium price for it.

Sources of Citrine

Small quantities of naturally colored citrine are found at many locations throughout the world. The frequency of its occurrence is demonstrated by the locality maps at mindat.org.

The most important commercial source of citrine with a natural yellow to orange color are the pegmatites of eastern Brazil. Other countries where citrine has been produced include: Argentina, Bolivia, Madagascar, Mexico, Russia, Spain, and Uruguay.

The most important source of amethyst that is heat treated to produce a citrine color is also eastern Brazil. Russia is the most important source of synthetic citrine.

Ametrine

Ametrine is a bicolor quartz that has zones of golden yellow citrine and deep purple amethyst in contact with one another in a single crystal. The origin of the name is a combination of AMEthyst and ciTRINE to yield “ametrine.”

Ametrine is a rare gem, with most of the world’s commercial ametrine production from the Anahi Mine in southeastern Bolivia. The mine produces a variety of ametrine, amethyst, citrine, rock crystal, and bicolor gems.

      1. True – they’ve changed over time. It’s also a jeweler’s way of selling stuff.
I have a ring with three oval tourmalines that Sally’s Dad gave me one year….that wasn’t stolen in 2013 when my home was burglarized. I lost 3 generations of family jewelry then. That still hurts and I wish I had sold or given it away instead of the thieves and fences getting the profit and benefit from it.

ENTIRE ARTICLE @ DC: “Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson was seen marching through the streets of Madrid with thousands of protesters in solidarity against a socialist government. Thousands of protesters took to the streets Sunday to protest acting Prime Minister Pedro Sanchezโ€™s plan to give amnesty to Catalan separatists in exchange for their political support. Tucker was seen marching with protesters alongside the head of Vox, a conservative political party in Spain.

Tucker was heard telling one protester he feels โ€œsorryโ€ for them. Tucker told one woman in a video interview that he decided to visit Madrid because the protests are โ€œnot getting the coverage it deserves.โ€

โ€œI mean anyone who would violate your Constitution, potentially use physical violence, to end democracy, is a tyrant, is a dictator, and this is happening in the middle of Europe so we thought it deserved more coverage than itโ€™s actually getting,โ€ he continued.

Protesters argue that Sanchez is ignoring the rule of law in order to make political gains, according to Reuters. Sanchez attempted to create his own cabinet and in order to do so he needs seven votes from the Catalan separatist party that started a coup and tried to break away in 2017. Catalanโ€™s leader, Carles Puigdemont, fled to Belgium to avoid being tried. Others involved, who have already been convicted, would also be granted amnesty. Sanchez said heโ€™s willing to grant amnesty in order to get new votes and hold onto power.”

But when Jake is in the area, I can’t take that chance. He actually had both feet up on the sill and was getting ready to just follow me in the door!

it seems to be working, and from what all we saw that nice young man do last evening, there is NO WAY IN HELL, we could have installed the new modem ourselves!
he checked the satellite dish, he had 2 computers and 2 phones and getting declination angles and pointing it at one satellite and then the other to obtain optimum reception…
    sigh
anyway it seems to be working and that’s all that matters.

so being the wise ass that i am, i asked, how many calls do you get to install new modems–I mean the instruction book makes it sound like a piece of cake… but clearly it isn’t.
he gave me a sly smile and said probably 95%. he said if you’re in a town or city with good reception–you’re probably going with cable internet anyway…so most of satellite customers live remotely—it’s the nature of the beast.
now it only took him minutes to install–but he had the aforementioned equipment we didn’t have.
but he was a nice young man. surprised at all the wildlife he saw on our road alone…lol

  3. My phone calls to my bank branch in Norfolk worked, apparently. I pay almost all of my bills on-line and the new website wasn’t working for me. Every single time I logged in, I had to get a pass code texted to me and there was no way on the website to change it, in spite of my assignment of the device I use being shown on the screen – ALWAYS my computer. It was a royal PITA! I talked to a very nice young lady in Norfolk who tried to help me and put up with my temperament while still being very pleasant….which calms me down, too. Of course, I apologized profusely, as I usually have to do. She had initially asked me to come into the branch to get it fixed, which I grudgingly agreed to do at some point in the near future (I’ll be going to Norfolk today). But I just logged in and it appears to have been fixed, thankfully! Yeah!!! So I don’t have to add the bank to my itinerary!

Nobody can believe this Political Witch Hunt Trial is still going on. No Victims, No Witnesses (their witness recanted his FAKE story, and said he Lied!), No Defaults, No Jury, No Nothing, only happy Banks etc. There was FRAUD, however, but by the Judge and the A.G., in saying that Mar-a-Lago was worth only $18,000,000, when they knew it was worth many times that amount. They just wanted to make me look bad โ€“ All a big SCAM by the New York A.G. in order to get elected, and then to run for Governor, unsuccessfully. The Trump Hating Judge MUST WITHDRAW his โ€œbullโ€ฆ.โ€ early ruling (before the trial even started. HE KNEW NONE OF THE FACTS!). He is devastated by the TRUTH, but just canโ€™t let it go. He is OBSESSED! Any other Judge but this one would have dismissed this ridiculous lawsuit years ago. 6. EXCERPT: “The Justice Department has just posted a new jobs ad โ€” itโ€™s looking for eight new attorneys to defend the federal government in vaccine injury cases. Presumably, the hiring spree is in anticipation of a surge of COVID vaccine lawsuits, as people who were forced by government mandates to take the jab, and suffered serious side effects as a result, try to extract compensation from a system that is stacked against them.

โ€œThe office is currently expanding to address workload created by an increase in cases filed under the Vaccine Act,โ€ reads the ad posted by the Torts Branch of the DOJ on the USAJobs website. The recruitment drive comes on the heels of a little-noticed lawsuit filed in Louisiana last month by six vaccine-injured plaintiffs against the federal government. The suit aims to overturn the legal immunity that pharmaceutical giants like Pfizer and Moderna enjoy on their COVID shots.

Not that any of the lawyers involved expect Big Pharma to pay up, but at least if they win, it should force Congress to reform inadequate vaccine injury compensation schemes that were instituted almost 40 years ago as an alternative to suing drug companies out of existence but that have not kept up with the times.

(Document can be read at the link)

EXCERPT: “The Supreme Court announced Monday the justices will adopt an ethics code as they face increasing pressure over undisclosed travel and gifts.

Concerns about alleged ethical improprieties by the justices ignited earlier this year in April after the nonprofit outlet ProPublica reported that Justice Clarence Thomas had gone on trips paid for by Republican megadonor Harlan Crow. The high court released its new 14-page guidance, which includes rules for accepting travel opportunities, on Monday afternoon.

The new guidance appears to allow justices to exercise their own discretion for accepting certain travel gifts, stating they “may accept reasonable compensation and reimbursement of expenses for permitted activities” if the source of the gift does not seem intended to influence a justice’s duties “or otherwise appear improper.”

“Expense reimbursement should be limited to the actual or reasonably estimated costs of travel, food, and lodging reasonably incurred by the Justice and, where appropriate to the occasion, by the Justiceโ€™s spouse or relative,” the new guidance states under a section titled “COMPENSATION, REIMBURSEMENT, FINANCIAL REPORTING.”

The nine justices have “agreed to comply with the statute governing financial disclosure, and the undersigned Members of the Court each individually reaffirm that commitment,” the section adds.” โ€” The Washington Examiner

“Hawaii Gov. Green lies about Lahaina deaths”
    By Susan Daniels @ AmericanThinker

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Hawaiian life on Maui goes on as though there was no horrendous fire in Lahaina in August. Tourists are back, although not snorkeling with dead bodies floating in the ocean; the state is doing a land grab around Lahaina, under the guise of land being donated; islanders have stopped talking about the fire. No one is now mentioning that the most elaborate alarm system in the U.S. failed to warn residents of the fire, or that water was not released for five hours until permission was given by farmers who control the use of 61% of the reservoir water in the state.

Fingers are also pointed at the Maui Police Department for many of the deaths. They blocked the roads of Lahaina, claiming there were downed power wires that were dangerous to drivers. But at 4:11 p.m. Hawaii Electric has a recording telling the police that the electricity was shut off. One officer said: โ€œWe need to go down (to Lahaina) because they donโ€™t know what the [expletive] theyโ€™re doing.โ€

We have all seen the rows of burned-out cars of people trying to escape the fire. Oddly, none of their car doors were open. Families were cremated together. King Kamehameha III Elementary School burned to the ground. On August 8, the day after the fire, Governor Joshua Green announced that there were 650 students registered there. The Maui News recently announced that 200 children from there were sharing the campus of another school.

What happened to the other 450 children? Their school was closed on the day of the fire because there was no electricity. It had been shut off by Maui Electric because of another nearby fire. The kids were home alone or with grandparents. In a news story last month, 2,746 students of the 3,001 total enrollment of Lahaina students were accounted for. In a published list of the dead, only three children are named. Where are the other 252 children?

Green keeps telling the media that there were 99 deaths. That is a lie. A Maui resident told me that the number is much higher based on all the trucks he saw transporting bodies. Green doesnโ€™t want anyone to know that there could still be as many as 1,000 people missing. Maui mayor Richard Bissen said that during the cleanup only non-hazardous fire debris will stay on the island. He said: โ€œWe understand that there may be remains that is (sic) contained within those areas.โ€

All the children registered at King Kamehameha III would have lived near the school. All those residences were some of the more than 2,700 structures destroyed in the fire. How many children were cremated in their homes and unaccounted for?

On Nov. 7, The Army Corps of Engineers was awarded a $53.7 million base contract to build a temporary elementary school (emphasis added) for students displaced from King Kamehameha III Elementary School. Why so much money and what will the permanent one cost? Notice the word “base,” which allows for add-ons.

A $150 million fund recently was established that will help those affected by the fire but there is also a provision to โ€œโ€ฆaddress impacts of climate changeโ€ฆ.โ€ I guess we know where most of that money will go.”

  11. “Infant Son of J6 Defendant Placed on Quiet Skies Suspected Terrorist Watchlist”
by: Wendi Strauch Mahoney 11/13/2023 Source: uncoverdc.com

EXCERPT: “An 8-week-old infant was placed on a secretive terrorist watchlist known as Quiet Skies last week, according to AJ Fischer. The only suspected, but not so reasonable, explanation for the designation is that Fischer is a J6 defendant and the infant’s father. Most alarmingly, it was not even Fischer who booked the ticket for his child. Fischer’s fiancรฉe booked the ticket for herself and the infant, but neither was anywhere close to D.C. on Jan. 6, 2021.

They booked separately, weeks apart from Fischer, because he was still awaiting court approval for travel due to his ongoing case with the DOJ. So now, any time Fischer’s fiancรฉe or their infant son travels, their boarding passes are stamped “SSSS” to indicate they are “suspected domestic terrorists” and listed in the Quiet Skies database because of their association with Fischer.

As explained in an Oct. 12 column from UncoverDC, the Quiet Skies program is being weaponized against J6ersโ€”like 20-plus-year military veteran Bryan Smith, who peacefully attended the Jan. 6 protest to contest the 2020 General Election. Quiet Skies is an undisclosed TSA program that “targets travelers who are not under investigation by any agency and are not in the Terrorist Screening Data Base,” according to Smith. Like Smith, all three travelers, including Fischer’s infant, were assigned the dreaded “SSSS” designation stamped below on the bottom right of his boarding pass because he was traveling with his father. Fischer is also a veteran, having served in the Air Force between 2013 and 2017.

“SSSS” is a concerning designation because it puts in motion a whole set of potentially unwarranted actions on the part of the airlines, TSA, and Federal Air Marshals that result in “enhanced screening” of the targeted individual. The enhanced screening is time-consuming and extensive because it involves swabbing every zipper, pocket, and hem of the targeted individual’s belongings. Targeted individuals are strip-searched and required to open and power up every device they possess. The process can take hours to complete.

Aside from the potentially unconstitutional and invasive procedures, the enhanced screening often results in missed flights. In Fischer’s case, the extended screening resulted in his purchasing all new flights for his family. Fischer told UncoverDC he and his fiancee were “harassed and treated disrespectfully, missed our flight, and had to buy a new one. The ticket counter took 45 minutes to issue our tickets because they couldn’t check us in. Then TSA took over an hour to search us. They knew our flight was boarding and leaving. We had to buy new tickets on a different airline, leave the gate, and go through it all again. It is the epitome of Dinesh’s police state.”…..

  12. these teenagers can make a HALF A MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR!
but because they’re juveniles they don’t get prosecuted to the full extent of the law. that’s BULLSHIT! they keep committing the crimes which means they KNOW there are penalties and what they’re doing is illegal–therefore prosecute them! a few years in a real prison might due them good.
    article
A pair of babyfaced teenagers were caught allegedly smuggling immigrants over the US-Mexico border into into Arizona this weekend โ€” as authorities warn Cartels are recruiting US citizens to do their human trafficking with promises of easy cash.

Eli LaClaire, 19, and Landon Vert, 18, were arrested Friday evening after police pulled them over and discovered five undocumented migrants stowed in their car, the Cochise County Sheriffโ€™s office announced.

Authorities think the pair could be the latest in the startling trend of violent cartels using social media to recruit young Americans, which they say has attracted people from all over the country.

Both teens were booked on human trafficking charges โ€” a felony offense that could land them up to five years in prison.

โ€œ[LaClaire] obviously had people in his vehicle, and he had all the camouflage clothing and he had all the indicators and the evidence โ€ฆ not to prove, but to indicate he was in the smuggling business,โ€ Cochise Country Sheriffโ€™s office representative Carol Kapas told The Post, adding there was also evidence heโ€™d been involved in previous smuggling operations before being caught.

Cochise County has seen a surge in young people being recruited by cartels to transport immigrants for up to $3,000 a head.

โ€œWeโ€™ve had people come from all over the United States to do this. Even from Georgia, New York, Washington State, Virginia, Florida. We had somebody who came from California, flew into Phoenix, rented the biggest vehicle that he could find, came down here and got caught,โ€ Kapas said.

Hundreds of Americans โ€” some as young 13-years-old โ€” have been apprehended behind the wheels of cars loaded with immigrants since about October 2021 and later found to have been recruited by cartels, Kapas said.

โ€œTheyโ€™re recruited through social [like] WhatsApp and TikTok,โ€ she said. โ€œItโ€™s cartel members and cartel organizations that are targeting anybody, specifically, gearing towards teens wanting money, if they can make a quick buck.โ€

Cartels will take $10,000 lump sum payments from migrants, who then are given three chances to cross the border, Kapas explained.

If they eventually make it through without being apprehended, they meet drivers arranged by the cartels in the US who whisk them off to pre-determined locations.

The Cartels have been so successful in their recruitment that police have discovered people traveling from across the country to partake in smuggling operations and rake in huge paydays.

โ€œWe have arrested people, one male subject in particular, who made half a million dollars on smuggling before he was caught, according to him.โ€

Officials believe Cartels targeted underage Americans to be their cross-border smugglers โ€” known as โ€œcoyotesโ€ โ€” because they are too young to be fully prosecuted for their crimes in some border states.

โ€œThere would be no prosecution, so they can keep doing it over and over and over again,โ€ Kapas said.

Just last month, Cochise County deputies apprehended a 15-year-old boy who did not have any immigrants with him, but appeared to be involved in a string of previous operations.

โ€œChecking back through his records, theyโ€™d been stopped three other times for human smuggling,โ€ Kapas said of the boy, noting those infractions had all been before 2023.
Migrants will pay cartels thousands of dollars to arrange their illegal crossings into the US, where recruited Americans teens are sometimes waiting to drive them to designated locations 4
Migrants will pay cartels thousands of dollars to arrange their illegal crossings into the US, where recruited Americans teens are sometimes waiting to drive them to designated locations
    New York Post

To try to fight the problem, in March 2022 Arizona law enforcement launched a multi-agency task force to specifically crack down on people smuggling, Operation Safe Streets. One of the forceโ€™s first initiatives was successfully passing a state law which made human trafficking a state violation, allowing for easier prosecution of juveniles for the crimes and hopefully deterring others from partaking.

Even with stronger legislative teeth behind them, police have been facing ongoing difficulties and dangers trying to apprehend smugglers. Cartels have told smugglers not to get got โ€œat any cost,โ€ Kapas said, which has lead to a spate of high speed car chases.

In one instance, a 17-year-old boy led police on a 100-mile car chase through residential streets, crossed a highway median and sped down into oncoming traffic, before cops executed a successful pit maneuver and finally wrecked the car.

โ€œHe just thought that was funny,โ€ Kapas said. โ€œHe was a juvenile, nothing was going to happen to him.โ€

Both LaClaire and Vert have yet to be arraigned in front of a judge. The immigrants found in their car were sent to US Border Patrol to be assessed.

    FTA
โ€œNow, the Controligarchs claim they can solve the climate crisis with new patented miracle products that happen to make themselves even richer and, once again, at the expense of small-scale independent farmers,โ€ he adds.

Bruner documents the outrage of farmers around the world after the push to ban more traditional and affordable crop nutrients, and he notes that restrictions on traditional fertilizer that the farmers said would bankrupt them were only put into place โ€œafter Gates and his buddies had secured the intellectual property for the replacement fertilizers.โ€

Bruner continues that โ€œfor more than a decade, as he was targeting the fertilizer industry, Bill Gates has also been quietly buying up large swaths of American farmland.โ€

โ€œAll told, Gates has spent over $1 billion dollars on farm acquisitions and the Agenda 2030-compliant technologies they now employ,โ€ Bruner says. Agenda 2030 is a United Nations initiative purported to target โ€œeliminating extreme poverty, reducing inequality, and protecting the planet.โ€

โ€œWhen Gates buys tens of thousands of acres, he is not just buying the land โ€” he is also buying the rights to water below ground. In addition to farms (and the irrigation) and fertilizer, Gates has been hunting for sizable interests in water and water treatment โ€” a crucial component when seeking to control the agricultural industry,โ€ Bruner notes.

  15. โ€œDear liberals, please rethink support for Palestine; Liberals are now supporting Palestine, but would Palestinians support liberal ideals? asks Mandiner columnist รdรกm Forisekโ€

ENTIRE ARTICLE: โ€œโ€œMy dear liberal friend, can you honestly say that Muslims can live in peace with anyone?โ€ รdรกm Forisek asks in his commentary. He points out, โ€œItโ€™s just that I can see that it hasnโ€™t really happened in India, China, the United States or Indonesia, and I canโ€™t really see what kind of miracle we should be waiting for to finally bring about this utopia.โ€

โ€œAnd in Western Europe, I donโ€™t see it happening at all. What I see is that no matter how many gestures you make to Muslims, how many crosses you take down from churches, how many times you vote left instead of โ€˜fascistโ€™ โ€“ nothing is enough for them.โ€

Forisek says that Muslims will only be satisfied once they turn Paris, Berlin and Brussels into Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Palestine. He then asks if the situation were reversed, would Palestinians support haughty liberal ideals? โ€œIf you start demanding rights for gays, what do you think the reaction will be? Maybe street executions, stabbings, beatings. You can hate me, but itโ€™s not my fault that the most homophobic countries in international surveys are Muslim countries,โ€ the author says.

โ€œDo you think that if you start talking about green reforms, you will find supporters in the Muslim community? Not in the Gulf States, thatโ€™s clear, but I donโ€™t see armies of Muslim climate warriors elsewhere. Do you think about if you start criticizing or ridiculing Muhammad, as you have done with Jesus Christ all your life, what is the worst that can happen to you? You will most likely end up shot in the head.โ€

Forisek concludes his column by saying that liberals would be better off supporting Israel, which is much more likely to resonate with their ideals. โ€œConversely, I donโ€™t think youโ€™d be offended in Israel if you were gay. Or liberal, Democrat, Christian. I donโ€™t agree with you on everything. Iโ€™m more of a centrist, I like to see things from more than one point of view. But I do know this: I would much rather disagree with the Muslim, who would slit your throat just because you disagree on something,โ€ he writes.

โ€œThatโ€™s why I would be more in solidarity with Israel if I were you. Trust me, the Jewish state will protect you far more than the Muslims ever will.โ€

Even if those ayrab fuckers didn’t do what they did last month, don’tcha think somebody somewhere along the production line woulda thought to slow it down and re-think the whole concept?
