The food at the Thanksgiving table is usually the star and focus of the event. But before the meal hits the table, guests usually arrive and the focus shifts momentarily to the table itself. Some people love simple tables, some prefer elaborate settings. But I think it’s a little over the top to have every place setting use 15 plates and attending silverware, because someone’s gotta do all those dishes and it’s usually me…so that’s a big NO for me!

Still some people prefer off the wall table decor…purple cornucopia and disco balls?

And nothing says Thanksgiving quite like blue pumpkins, right?
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():format(webp)/vibrant-modern-setting-a6134601d48b4008b89421ddd702f0a6.jpg)
And THIS one? A definite NO from me. I would never put lit candles near dried out grassy wheat (?) on a table where anyone can bump the table and start a 5 alarm fire.

There’s understated and then there’s laziness—letting the napkins drape off the table—like an afterthought. Another NO for me.

So, if you want to add some appeal to your Thanksgiving table, that’s cool, cute and easy to do…here’s a wonderful meme for folding your paper napkins into adorable turkeys. And there’s plenty of time to practice before the big day!

PS: This is one idea I wished I had started years ago. You have every guest sign the tablecloth and then you stitch out the names. This would have been an awesome keepsake. Sadly, our big Thanksgiving dinners are no more.

Morning All!
It looked like we got snow overnight, but it’s merely frosty out there! not even 20*!!!!

Morning, Pat! It was 32 when I got up – Wheezer was sleeping in my chair and popped right up when I opened the door with his food dish. It has dropped to 31 – that always happens right before the sun starts coming up. Still supposedly holding with the nice weather here for a few days at least.

Good morning, Pat and Filly,
We’ve had 50/80 degree days and very dry here, but they predict rain on Wed and Thu this week. That usually precedes wind and then cold. Our cold has not been freezing temps yet, just around 38-39.
We had some excitement yesterday morning – the elderly eccentric guy – with health issues (mental and physical) and a little trained therapy dog who senses when his diabetes gets critical, who lives across the hall from Sally Q – set a fire by placing a piece of wood on his stove and turned it on.
We aren’t exactly sure how/why that occurred, but it filled the building with smoke and set off all manner of fire alarms and the rest of the morning was filled with firemen and noisy exhaust fans removing the smoke.
We opened Sally’s windows and turned on her ceiling and stove/bathroom exhaust fans. She wasn’t in any danger and loved the excitement.
Last evening, he was in the gathering room and up and down the halls apologizing. His behavior has been increasingly bizarre and aggravating. We (Sally, her Dad and I) think he needs more supervision. It’s likely the Village authorities will ask his daughters to come for yet another group conference and this time – either get him a full time caregiver – put him in an assisted living facility without a stove or take him home with them. None of the assisted living places here allow animals even trained therapy animals. It may be a legal liability thing.
Today, I’m taking Sally’s Dad to the city and to our youngest daughter’s to have a pacemaker installed tomorrow. He will spend the night in the hospital and if all goes well, I’ll take him back to the Village on Wednesday.
Staying in Sally’s apartment instead of the Lodge has been the right thing for now – not just because of the expense. She needs more constant supervision now – for both her health and equipment management.
For example, when I got up to make coffee this morning, she was awake had somehow messed up the headrest on her wheelchair.
The last several weeks – I’ve been busier than a three legged dog at a flea circus!

Things in Chicago Are So Bad That Venezuelan Illegals Are Fleeing Back to Venezuela
When illegals from Venezuela want to leave the US to go back to their Marxist hellhole, that is a clear sign that things are really bad.
The particular city we are referring to is Chicago, Illinois. The lack of work opportunities and living in shelters has convinced many of the illegals they just might be better off back at home.
Chicago was known as a sanctuary city, so thousands of illegals entering the US were sent there, particularly by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
Things are rapidly changing for them, including a difficult winter and lack of support from local governments. Many are considering going back to Venezuela. This is very revealing of the hypocrisy of sanctuary cities. They talk a big game until they are actually put to the test.

Trump Lawyers to Mount Counterattack After Weeks of Bruising Cross-Examination in NY Civil Case
comment image
“Former President Donald Trump sits in the courtroom with attorneys Christopher Kise and Alina Habba during his civil fraud trial at New York State Supreme Court in New York City on Nov. 6, 2023. (Brendan McDermid-Pool/Getty Images)”
The media and public should brace themselves for the most heated phase of the civil fraud trial of former President Donald Trump when courtroom proceedings resume on Nov. 13—if past interactions among the defense, the judge, and government lawyers are any indication.
The defense will begin to make its case on behalf of the 45th president and 2024 candidate, as well as his two sons and daughter, who are no longer defendants in the case yet have faced relentless and acrimonious cross-examination on the witness stand over the past two weeks.
President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., is expected to be the first to testify for the defense.
Trump lawyer Christopher Kise and Judge Arthur Engoron feuded throughout the cross-examination of President Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Ivanka Trump. The defense attorney has objected constantly, saying that questions posed were irrelevant to the legal issues at hand or that no one could reasonably expect the people on the stand to recall the details of documents, records, meetings, and conversations from as far back as 2012.
As if to add further contentiousness to the proceedings, New York Attorney General Letitia James’s office on Nov. 8 sent a letter to Judge Engoron seeking to block testimony from four expert witnesses set to take the stand during the defense phase.
😡
Their testimony would address the accuracy of valuations contained in statements of financial condition submitted to Deutsche Bank and other firms for the purpose of securing favorable terms for loans and insurance. In the view of the attorney general’s office, such testimony is beside the point given that the judge has already ruled that Trump is guilty of fraud.
Nor has the pro-Trump side been inactive during the run-up to the next phase of the trial. On Nov. 10, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) sent a lengthy letter to the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct, spelling out a litany of complaints about how Judge Engoron has conducted himself and his alleged bias against the respondents in the lawsuit.
“This judge’s bizarre behavior has no place in our judicial system, where Judge Engoron is not honoring the defendant’s rights to due process and a fair trial. These serious concerns are exacerbated by the fact that the defendant is the leading candidate for President of the United States, and it appears the judicial system is being politicized to affect the outcome of the campaign,” Ms. Stefanik wrote.
She then cited the judge’s reference to the former president as “just a bad guy” deserving of prosecution by the attorney general, and his blunt statement to President Trump that “we are not here to listen to what you have to say.”
Judge Engoron also told President Trump’s attorney Mr. Kise, “I am not here to hear what he has to say, now sit down!” and said, when Mr. Kise floated the idea of requesting a directed verdict, “You better not, Chris.”
The letter also characterizes the judge and members of his staff as “partisan Democrat donors” who, in violation of the New York Code of Judicial Conduct, have given lavishly to the party opposing President Trump.
Ms. Stefanik’s letter concludes: “Judge Engoron’s lawlessness sends an ominous and illegal warning to New York business owners: If New York judges don’t like your politics, they will destroy your business, the livelihood of your employees, and you personally. This Commission cannot let this continue.”
A Defense Lawyer’s Concerns
Although Ms. Stefanik isn’t part of the Trump defense team in the current proceedings, her letter summarizes many of the objections that Mr. Kise has repeatedly raised over the past few weeks. Mr. Kise took exception to the frequent passing of notes between the judge and a law clerk, suggesting that the judge often made rulings favoring the plaintiffs upon reading the notes, the contents of which weren’t disclosed to the rest of the court.“The rulings are frequently if not inordinately against us on every issue,” Mr. Kise said. Later on in the proceedings, he said that he hoped that the defense would receive the same latitude that the judge has granted to the plaintiffs when the defense finally gets its turn, beginning on Nov. 13.
Mr. Kise is not someone I’ve heard of before. Seems like Ms. Habba is the one addressing the media and giving interviews.
…Regardless of whether the concerns of Mr. Kise and Ms. Stefanik have any basis, the proceedings that get underway in Manhattan civil court at 10 a.m. on Nov. 13 are likely to rise—or descend—to a level of acrimony with few parallels in any lawsuit involving a former U.S. head of state or current presidential aspirant.
I wish we could see it. 🍿

EXCERPT: “Current and former military members are speaking out against what they call the politicization of the Defense Department — from the COVID-19 vaccine mandates to transgender surgeries — in a new documentary being rolled out this month.
As many military members were kicked out of service for refusing to receive the COVID vaccine, some current and former service members are warning of an ideological push that they believe is harming U.S. defense. A few of these members are in a multi-part documentary series called “SEALs Beat Biden,” which is being released this month. The documentary is a project of The Sentinel, an online publication that describes itself as producing “straightforward news and conservative inside commentary on American culture, politics, and business.”
One former service member and one current service member who feature in the documentary each told Just the News about some of their experiences fighting the COVID vaccine mandate and their concerns about how the military is being run. Former Navy SEAL Asa Miller chose to not take the COVID-19 vaccine, along with about 20 other SEALs from his team, SEAL Team Four. Miller told Just the News on Tuesday that for six months, they were never told to go to work, and their equipment was taken away from them so they couldn’t train or go to the shooting range.
“We asked to be put at different training commands” or “help out our old team,” but were “refused,” Miller said. He added that after the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) was passed and the COVID vaccine mandate was rescinded, he and the other unvaccinated members of his team were allowed to attend funerals, retirements, and other ceremonies for active-duty members and their friends and families to work the events, such as setting up food, busing, etc. However, Miller and his team members were told they couldn’t be around their former teammates because they were unvaccinated.
—————-
Miller’s contract with the Navy ended this past May and he chose to not reenlist so he could “do something about” the “ideological and political agenda” being “pushed in the DOD,” which he said is “weakening the military.” He explained that while he was considered to be a risk to force and a risk to mission for not receiving the COVID vaccine, there are service members who “are voluntarily taking themselves out of the fight for transgender surgeries and abortions … endangering those around them because they can’t do their job.”
Miller said that the military is paying for transgender surgeries and giving extra vacation time to those who get abortions. Because the Hyde Amendment restricts the federal government from funding abortion, the “military is instead adding bonuses around abortion without funding abortion itself,” Miller said, calling the action “manipulative, deceptive, and political,” despite “coming from the most trusted, supposedly apolitical institution in America.”
—————–
Air Force reservist Lt. Col. Brandi King, who alleged two years ago that she was fired from her job in the service chief’s diversity office for seeking a religious exemption to the vaccine mandate, was involuntarily transferred into the Non-Participating Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) last year. She was six months away from retirement at the time.
The IRR means that King no longer has status in the Reserves, and is in a state of limbo in which she can’t participate in drills, receive military orders, or receive any pay or retirement. She is ineligible for military healthcare and has to fully pay life insurance premiums on her own in order to keep it. However, while the Air Force Reserves involuntarily transferred King into the IRR, the Air Force Selection Board selected her to “full-bird colonel” and she received Senate confirmation this year. Her rank is now directly under that of a Brigadier General.
She told Just the News on Tuesday that at the “same time they were kicking me out, they were promoting me.” King added that while the National Defense Authorization Act “rescind[ed]” the COVID mandate, which means, “to take away as if it never were,” she said, “that hasn’t been done.” King said that as far as she knows, she’s still in the IRR, and hasn’t yet been promoted to the position for which she received Senate confirmation.
She is still working in her civilian job, flying planes internationally, which was what she also did for the Air Force Reserves. King said that she can fly troops all over the world with her civilian job, “but can’t sit next to them in uniform,” which she called “ridiculous” and “illogical.” Regarding military culture, King said that while she completed numerous trainings in the Air Force Reserves, she never received military training about understanding the U.S. Constitution and its relationship with the state constitutions, despite swearing an oath to defend the U.S. Constitution.
She believes that while “less than one percent” of service members read and understand the U.S. Constitution, “99-plus percent know we must accept abortion, transgenderism, and the repeal of ‘don’t ask, don’t tell.’ It has become so politicized.”
[NF: I don’t recall anything being taught in Basic or AIT about the Constitution either!]

Amazing proof of election issues with Dominion machines:
IMPORTANT: Undeniably Proof Out Of Georgia That Dominion Voting Is Rigging United States Elections. Confirmed With A Hand Count Of Ballots, This Is SHOCKING
“The result from the Dominion machine showed Lorne Alexander received 34.67% of the vote, Marshall Orson receiving 41.35% of the vote, and Michelle Longspears receiving 23.98% of the vote. The result from the Dominion machine showed Lorne Alexander received 34.67% of the vote, Marshall Orson receiving 41.35% of the vote, and Michelle Longspears receiving 23.98% of the vote.
In Georgia, if one candidate doesn’t get above 50% of the vote total, a runoff election is automatically held between the two top candidates. Meaning Michelle Longspierce was cut out of the race.
But Michelle Longspierce felt odd about the numbers, so she visited different precincts to double check the tallies. Guess what?
She noticed that in some precincts she didn’t receive a single vote. But how is that possible that a candidate with 24% of the vote total finds precincts where she didn’t receive a single vote?
While statistically alarming, the real surprise came when she realized there was not one vote cast for her in her own precinct, the same one where she and her husband voted for herself. Spears immediately demanded a hand recount of the results and got one.
On June 1st the results were released and the difference between the Dominion machine count and the hand count was shocking.
After the hand count Lauren Alexander gained 355 votes, Orson lost 1298 votes and Spears actually gained 3620 votes making her the new runoff candidate.
And here’s the best part, when you add them all up the hand count shows 2810 votes more than the Dominion machines reported on the 24th.
This is huge.
In a small county commissioners race with 15 and a half thousand votes total, the Dominion machine tally was short by nearly 3,000 votes. What does that say about all the other races that were conducted on these very same machines?
This is proof that the machines cannot be trusted. If Spears had not sounded the alarm, no one would have been able to do this.”

Well, that was major progress! I left Wheezer’s food dish outside and was keeping an eye on out for mice while he snoozed. I looked over and he was sitting by the door, looking at me, clearly wanting something other than food. So I slipped on my flip-flops (I keep forgetting I’ve got slippers now!) and my hoodie to go out for a petting session.
Oh, my – he was wanting it today for sure! After a few minutes, I sat down on the chair and patted my lap – after a minute or two of rolling on the floor, showing his belly, he got up and reached up with his paws/claws for my hands. I pulled them away and held them up in the air, then patted my lap again, and he hopped up! He’s done that once before but jumped right back down; this time I made sure I was petting him and rubbing his ears, etc., and he stayed, even lying down! He didn’t want to get off!
His coat is much thicker now and I’m thinking the wormer has worked at least some since he’s got a nice little belly on him (but not a wormy pot belly). It’s not quite as rough-looking now either. His upper respiratory issue is still there but has gotten no worse so I’m hopeful he will get thru it.

“California Sheriff Unloads on Target for Hypocritical Shoplifting Stance—You ‘Can’t Make This Stuff Up'”
By Bob Hoge | 2:13 PM on November 12, 2023
ENTIRE ARTICLE @ RedState: “Sacramento, California County Sheriff Jim Cooper isn’t being shy about his thoughts on the woke, hypocritical stance Target is taking regarding shoplifters. Despite asking for more help in stopping the problem—which has cost them over $1.2 billion this year alone—the retail giant is apparently more concerned about “bad press” than they are about stopping people from stealing their stuff.
They would rather lock up anything valuable and raise prices on you, the average American, than they would actually attempt to stop lowlifes from walking out without paying: ‘Cooper said Target, one of the largest retailers in the U.S., reached out to his office multiple times requesting assistance with shoplifters, who the sheriff said were frequently “known transients.”‘
They may be “known transients,” but Target would rather let them take their goods than “cause a scene”: The sheriff’s office and Target worked to conduct an operation at the store to nab shoplifters, but the plan apparently crumbled after Target leaders made a list of rules for where and how deputies and detectives could arrest the suspects.
“I can’t make this stuff up,” Cooper begins. Then he explains how his detectives tried to crack down on crime but were thwarted by Target’s own people (bolding mine):
“Recently, we tried to help Target. Our Property Crimes detectives and sergeant were contacted numerous times by Target to help them with shoplifters, mostly who were known transients. We coordinated with them and set up an operation with detectives and our North POP team.
At the briefing, we were told by their head of regional security that we could not contact suspects inside the store; we could not handcuff suspects in the store; and if we arrested someone, they wanted us to process them outside… behind the store… in the rain. We were told they didn’t want to create a scene inside the store and have people film it and put it on social media. They didn’t want negative press. Unbelievable.
Our deputies watched a lady on camera bring in her own shopping bags, go down the body wash isle, and grab a bunch of Native body washes. Then she went to customer service and return them! Target chose to do nothing and simply let it happen. Yet somehow, locking up deodorant and raising prices on everyday items we need to survive is their best answer.”
He closed with a slam dunk: “We don’t tell big retail how to do their jobs, they shouldn’t tell us how to do ours.”
Target has been in the news this year, but for all the wrong reasons. Their disturbing Pride Month displays promoting transgenderism to youths sparked widespread outrage and caused their stock to tumble precipitously. Like Bud Light, they showed they care more about radical social issues than they do their own customers.
When provided an actual solution to the shoplifting problem, Target showed they’d rather lock up their merchandise and raise prices than risk offending some Chardonnay-sipping suburban mom.
I’m shopping elsewhere.”

https://justthenews.com/accountability/whistleblowers/hunter-biden-misrepresented-income-accountant-he-tried-remedy-tax
Our Take: “You can’t impeach an illegitimate President, and over the weekend, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) made it clear that impeachment is not a priority for the Republican-led House. That being said, the idea that there ‘isn’t enough evidence’ or that ‘dots haven’t been connected yet’ would be laughable if it wasn’t so irresponsible.
Take for example the latest in the Hunter Biden IRS investigation, and the most recent disclosures from the Ways & Means committee based on documents and testimony from whistleblowers by Joseph Ziegler and Gary Shapley. The testimony of ‘cooperating witness’ Jeffrey Gelfound across multiple meetings with federal investigators paints a detailed picture of the influence-peddling schemes in which the Biden Crime Family was engaged.
When combined with the evidence from Hunter’s laptop, the testimony from Hunter’s business partner Devon Archer, the official Suspicious Activity Reports from Hunter’s banks, the ‘loan repayment’ checks directly to Joe from the front-line family members, and all the other evidence, it’s hard to imagine that any impeachment inquiry in US history was more well-founded.
God only knows what House Republicans are prioritizing over exposing the overwhelming racketeering, influence, and corruption schemes of the so-called Commander-in-Chief. That is, besides proving that most of the US Federal Government — including the Congress — needs to be abolished and replaced with nothing,” — Ashe in America

i think (and just my opinion) but he is prioritizing getting the funding and appropriations bills in order–that is their chief function–so that those huge omnibus bills at year end don’t happen.
they can still gather info and make their impeachment trial as strong as they can, but allowing the funding of gov’t to lapse seems like dereliction of duty and very “get biden” which the news outlet will scream

“NY Post reporting – ‘The first batch of migrants was bused to Floyd Bennett Field’s makeshift tent city in Brooklyn on Sunday — and wanted no part of it. Dozens of migrant families arrived at the controversial remote housing site courtesy of the Adams administration shortly after 12:30 p.m., looked around and promptly hopped back on the bus to try to return to their previous shelters.
“We weren’t told where we were going,” one of the bused migrant dads griped to The Post. “I work in The Bronx. My kids go to school in The Bronx. For us to live out here is ridiculous. “We’re going back,” he fumed. Another migrant father bused to the field said he has been living at the Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, the city processing site for the migrants – and was heading back there.’
Maybe they should be bussed back to whatever shit-hole third-world slum they came from. That would be much more appropriate, don’tcha think?”

Collin Rugg
@CollinRugg
NEW: Democrat Georgia county commissioner Felicia Franklin was found wasted & passed out in the street according to police bodycam footage.
Additional footage from her ride in the ambulance shows her assaulting people trying to help.
Franklin is now claiming to be the victim, saying she was drugged with a date-r*pe drug however her toxicology report does not support this claim.
Franklin was found passed out outside of 404 Sports Bar and Grill, in Morrow, Georgia.
“I don’t give a f***, get him out of my face,” she said as she assaulted someone trying to help her in the ambulance.
Franklin no longer serves as Vice Chair but is still an elected official for the county. (Daily Mail)

Holy moly! MTG’s financial disclosure statement for Congress – can someone explain the “tax-deferred” entries for me? I’m not sure what that means exactly beyond the obvious. Thanks. Dang, she’s got some stocks!!!

the tax deferred ones look like IRAs. you don’t pay tax on them till you are old enough to retire or you start making withdrawals.
