Sundown

Today is the anniversary of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald and I thought in honor of Gordon Lightfoot’s epic song about that tragedy and his birthday later this month, I’d present another Lightfoot favorite of mine…Sundown.

I can see her lyin’ back in her satin dress

In a room where ya do what ya don’t confess

Sundown you better take care

If I find you been creepin’ ’round my back stairs

Sundown ya better take care

If I find you been creepin’ ’round my back stairs

She’s been lookin’ like a queen in a sailor’s dream

And she don’t always say what she really means

Sometimes I think it’s a shame

When I get feelin’ better when I’m feelin’ no pain

Sometimes I think it’s a shame

When I get feelin’ better when I’m feelin’ no pain

I can picture every move that a man could make

Getting lost in her lovin’ is your first mistake

Sundown you better take care

If I find you been creepin’ ’round my back stairs

Sometimes I think it’s a sin

When I feel like I’m winnin’ when I’m losin’ again

I can see her lookin’ fast in her faded jeans

She’s a hard lovin’ woman, got me feelin’ mean

Sometimes I think it’s a shame

When I get feelin’ better when I’m feelin’ no pain

Sundown you better take care

If I find you been creepin’ ’round my back stairs

Sundown you better take care

If I find you been creepin’ ’round my back stairs

Sometimes I think it’s a sin

When I feel like I’m winnin’ when I’m losin’ again

    1. He explains the very clear difference between the Nazi’s and the Fakestinians, including the general population, NOT just Hamas! Even the SS knew what they were doing was wrong and they tried to cover it up; on the contrary, Islamists of all stripes are full of glee over their behavior and proud of it!

  1. I am adding a short daily prayer to the board. I would invite each of you, if you wish, to also add one or maybe two of your own liking. I do not want to stifle anyone but please limit yourself to one or two religious postings. here’s one I found that I liked.

  2. My aunt was visiting and flew back home to a united germany. She said the rich had bowls of fruit. Something they could not afford.

The newspaper in our town went for a photo of a firefighter saving a cat instead of this head line.

People never thought it would ever happen. I still have a piece of the wall.

My aunt was only able to visit because she was older and they would not have minded if those people never came back. But she had her dogs back home.

My one aunt was never able to revisit her daughter grave because of the wall.

Yes the government officials lived it up of course.

Should never have been allowed to happen

I recall Katarina Witt would talk about them spying

Following the dissolution of East Germany, Ministerium für Staatssicherheit (Stasi) files were found to show that the secret police had worked hard to keep Witt from defecting by giving her cars, accommodations, and permitted travel.[16] Witt found 3,000 pages on her life from the age of eight.
