Meet the Dracula Parrot

There are some beautiful birds in the world but perhaps none with a name quite as frightening as one species found in New Guinea—the Dracula parrot. This is the nickname for the Pesquet’s parrot (Psittrichas fulgidus), which is endemic to the island’s hill and montane rainforest. With rich black feathers and a scarlet red underbelly, it has all the coloration of Count Dracula’s cape, but looks can be deceiving.

The Dracula parrot is a relatively large parrot, measuring a total length of about 18 inches and weighing between 1.5 and 1.75 pounds. Its long, hooked beak and bare face, coupled with its large head, make it look a bit like a vulture. For that reason, it’s sometimes also called a vulturine parrot. But, don’t let these colloquial names fool you—this bird is no flesh-eater.

In fact, the Dracula parrot is a frugivore, which means that fruit is its preferred food. And for this parrot, we’re not just talking about any fruit. These parrots only feed on a few species of fig. This helps explain why they aren’t migrant and typically stick to one area. This is also why they’re only one of three parrot species without a bare face, as the fruit pulp they eat would cause facial feathers to become matted.

When they are left alone in areas where they aren’t hunted, it’s not uncommon to see groups of 10 to 14 roosting in the trees. They can almost always be found at least in pairs. Dracula parrots are believed to have a lifespan of 20 to 40 years and they nest in large, hollow trees. Interestingly, only one or two eggs are laid at a time.

These rare birds are the only members of their genus, and this genus is the only member of the subfamily Psittrichadinae, which shows how unique these parrots truly are. Unfortunately, the Dracula parrot has been classified as vulnerable on the IUCN’s Red List. This is mainly due to poaching, as well as habitat loss. Poachers go after the Dracula parrot for their feathers, which are highly prized by collectors. It’s believed that between 20,000 and 50,000 Dracula parrots exist in the wild and their population continues to decrease.

    1. Morning, Pat! 28 again this morning but no more snow, thankfully – so far anyway – we may get a bit more today (50% chance). Wheezer was in the chair turned sideways, with his eyes trained on the door – LOL. He picked up his head as soon as I opened the blind and turned on the light. I took some food out with me to put in his bowl and he did his usual rubbing and purring before tucking into breakfast. His water was completely frozen, of course, so I refilled it with warm water. He is back on the chair sleeping. Once it gets light out, he will go on his walkabout, I expect.

            1. Well, I won’t buy the pet-specific one – way too much $$$. No, I’ll pick up another small thermal soup/drink container for kids. I dropped the one I was using that was Piper’s and it fell just right to crack the hard foam lining. Maybe $2-3 at WM.

Matthew Perry has died at age 54. The call was for a suspected cardiac arrest. While anything is possible, many will point out that Matthew was a big supporter of the COVID vaccines and even sold shirts saying “Could I BE Any More Vaccinated?” so I think it’s fair to ask that it be investigated as a potential cause of any cardiac issues. Regardless of the cause, it’s a tragedy. He brought joy to so many with his work and I pray God surrounds his loved ones with peace. Gone way too soon.

  1. “Green district in green city in green state is buying … DIESEL school buses! Electric units just can’t do the job”
    By WND Staff
    Published October 28, 2023 at 5:50pm

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Boulder, Colorado, is as leftist as a community can be in a state that’s put its weight behind the climate change campaign. It promotes green ideology throughout its services. And inside the community is a green school district, which cooperates with the climate change ideology enthusiastically.

Which is why the district has surprised a lot of people by announcing the pending purchase of a bunch of diesel school buses. The report comes from The Center Square, which said while the district wants to replace diesel buses with green units, they just can’t do the job.

The report explained the district confirmed EVs just can’t do the work involved in running more demanding routes into the Colorado Rocky Mountain foothills. The report said the district is ready to approve the purchase of five new diesel buses for nearly $715,000. The district explained, “diesel school buses are essential for mountain routes due to their robust performance in challenging terrains. These routes often have steep inclines, variable weather conditions, and remote locations, making diesel buses a practical choice.”

The report said school officials continued, “Propane and electric buses have limitations on mountain routes. Propane can struggle with altitude and extreme cold, while electric buses experience reduced range in hilly areas and require frequent recharging, making them less reliable for these specific routes.” Diesel buses, they said, “remain a reliable choice for ensuring safe transportation for students in mountainous regions.”

The report said the district now has almost 240 vehicles, 113 diesel, 53 gas, 46 propane and six electric.”

  2. “Everything About Suspected Maine Mass Murderer Robert Card’s “Suicide” Feels Wrong—It takes a lot of strangeness for me to explore the “false flag” realm. The Maine Mass Shootings are strange enough for me to ask questions.”
    JD RUCKER
    OCT 28, 2023

EXCERPT: “The body of the man suspected of murdering 18 people and injuring over a dozen others was found by law enforcement Friday night. But instead of bringing closure, just about every aspect of the story prompts more questions because none of it seems to jibe. Let’s explore the inconsistencies and odd circumstances being relayed to us as the official narrative.

Before we begin, it’s important to note that I generally do NOT go down the “false flag” or “psyop” route on mass murder stories. It’s not because I dismiss the possibility of these incidents being manufactured. On the contrary, I am fairly certain many of them are. But unless a story sticks out like a sore thumb as having Deep State connections like the JFK Assassination or the Las Vegas Mass Murders of 2017, I know the chances of us getting close to the truth are practically nil.

In the case of Robert Card and the Maine Mass Murders, I believe the totality of inconsistencies and odd narratives makes it worthy of being questioned, discussed, and independently investigated….
    ——————–
One last note pertaining to psyops/false flags/Deep State events: A few people have noted that pictures of Card compared to pictures of the mass murderer during the shootings themselves seem to depict different people. My amateur examination says it’s possibly him, possibly not.

As a rational guy, I’ll acknowledge that the most likely scenario is that a mentally ill man killed a lot of people, then killed himself, and that the inconsistencies and odd series of events were just consequences of the rush to get the story out. Then again, I’m also one who believes there are no coincidences so it’s a best practice to question the official narratives surrounding the Maine Mass Shootings.”

  4. “In Most Popular Move Of Presidential Campaign, Mike Pence Ends Presidential Campaign”
    POLITICS · Oct 28, 2023 · BabylonBee.com

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Former Vice President Mike Pence has ended his Presidential campaign, in what polling shows to have been the most popular move of his entire Presidential Campaign.

“Polling is through the roof on this move,” said former campaign manager Dean Ross. “We finally found the one thing Pence can do that literally one-hundred percent of Americans support — quit.”

Mr. Pence’s campaign failed to gain traction, largely due to everything Mr. Pence said and did being extremely unpopular with voters. “Pence spent the campaign presenting himself as a veteran of the D.C. swamp who would continue sending billions of taxpayer dollars to Ukraine,” said political analyst Stephen Dunning. “I’m not sure if Pence hasn’t, like, seen a poll in the past decade — or spoken to a single Republican voter? But that’s not really going to work these days.”

The announcement today of Pence suspending his campaign has finally seen a huge wave of favorability for the Pence campaign. “This is easily the best day of polling we’ve had,” said Mr. Ross. “People are going crazy for this decision. You can just feel the support.”

At publishing time, Mr. Pence had made another unbelievably popular move in announcing that he would not seek to join any ticket as Vice President.”

  5. “Mom Schedules Family Pictures As They Haven’t Had A Free-For-All Screaming Match Lately”
    FAMILY · Oct 28, 2023 · BabylonBee.com

LUBBOCK, TX — Local mom Marcia Merrick decided to schedule family pictures with an expensive photographer as it had been far too long since they had all screamed at each other in abject rage.

“This should do the trick,” said Mrs. Merrick as she sent the photographer a deposit. “We’ll be ripping each other to shreds in no time.”

After a couple of months of unbroken domestic tranquility, Mrs. Merrick began to feel something was missing. “It’s quiet. Too quiet,” said Mrs. Merrick, as the family ate dinner with contented smiles. “All of this ‘getting along’ is starting to make me feel gross. What we need is a good family brawl — and I know just the thing.”

According to eyewitnesses, all four members of the family were screaming in tears a mere three minutes before the photoshoot. “WHERE IS YOUR SCARF??” shouted Marcia at their oldest. “ALL I WANT IS ONE FAMILY MEMORY! ONE MEMORY, PEOPLE! NONE OF YOU JOKERS WILL RUIN THIS FOR ME! NO, NO!!! THOSE ARE THE WRONG BOOTS, MARK!! FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS, WASTED!” she cried.

“Five…hundred… DOLLARS? AND YOU’RE GOING TO SPEND THE WHOLE TIME CRYING? NO! NO! THIS IS NOT GOING DOWN LIKE THIS!!” yelled Mark, as the children burst into sobs. “You better get happy, like, RIGHT NOW PEOPLE! HAPPY OR ELSE!!!!”

At publishing time, the family had several totes adorable photos of the family in matching plaid walking through a cornfield, and the photographer had promised she could photoshop out all the streaks of tears.”

The tragedy at The Geong – a 30-foot high popular tourist attraction in a forest in Central Java—took place as 11 visitors crossed the walkway. Two of the victims were able to cling to the bridge’s frame while two others plunged to the ground, one of whom was pronounced dead shortly after the collapse. According to The Jakarta Post, the manager of the bridge had been contacted shortly after the attraction officially opened in April after as many as five percent of the visitors posted online expressing concerns about the bridge’s safety standards. The manager allegedly did not show up to a requested meeting about the bridge’s safety standards, however, choosing to send a representative instead.”

  7. Huh…who knew??!!??

EXCERPT: “Over the course of a few weeks, the dogs smelled the different scents a number of times, and essentially voted with their nostrils. When presented with the potentially noxious stimuli (the vet and the adrenaline), dogs “showed a consistent right nostril bias,” meaning they started investigating with the right nostril and stayed investigating with the right nostril over subsequent presentations. On the other hand, when presented with potentially nonaversive stimuli, like the food and the vaginal secretion, dogs initially investigated with their right nostril and then shifted to their left.

Although dog nostril research (if you want to call it that) is in its infancy, this difference in nostril use is something to write home about as it could indicate something about a scent’s valence (novel or familiar; positive or negative) as well as how scents are being processed in a dog’s brain. The researchers describe the olfactory neural pathway to the brain — “in mammals the olfactory system ascends mainly ipsilaterally, with most receptor information from each nostril projecting, via the olfactory bulb, to the primary olfactory cortex in the same hemisphere (Royet & Plailly 2004).”

Essentially, what goes in the right nostril is being processed on the right side of the brain, and what goes in the left nostril goes to the left side. Lateralization research suggests that the right hemisphere is often involved in investigating novelty and is also associated with “intense emotions, such as aggression, escape behavior and fear,” while the left hemisphere is more focused on routine investigation and categorization, approach behavior, and positive emotional valence. The researchers’ findings are consistent with those general principles. Dogs tended to begin their investigation of the different scents with their right nostril (novelty), and they continued to investigate the potentially arousing stimuli — like the vet odor and adrenaline — through the right nostril. But over repeated presentations of nonaversive stimuli — like the food and smell of another dog — dogs switched to the left nostril….”

“I Asked MEP Christine Anderson What She Thinks About Donald Trump: Here’s What She Had to Say—One of the bravest of all freedom fighters weighs in on Trump.”
    By The Vigilant Fox

“Earlier this week, I interviewed the legendary Christine Anderson, a German member of the European Parliament and one of the few politicians who stood up to the COVID nonsense. I asked her many questions on the topics of COVID tyranny, climate change, bad actors, and more, but her comments about Donald Trump were especially noteworthy.

I asked, “What do you think about Donald Trump?” Here’s what she had to say about the 45th US President:
    (Video)
Transcript: “Oh, I love him. I absolutely love Donald Trump. And you know why? Because he just doesn’t give a damn. And that really makes him unique. And they could slander and slap him with whatever name they could come up with. He just didn’t care. And that’s actually been an inspiration for me. And I was like, “Yeah, whatever name they want to call you, fine. What’s the problem?”

So, he was so refreshingly blunt and honest. Does he lack diplomatic skills? Oh, absolutely. But in this world, where everyone is always concerned about not offending anyone and blah, blah, blah. That was so refreshingly honest. And yeah, that’s what the people want. That’s what people want. They just want the truth. Whether you articulate it clumsily or sophisticated, people want the truth — point blank. So, I just love him.”

On October 17, Trump made some strong statements about the World Health Organization.

In a viral Truth Social video, the 45th US President said, “The World Health Organization has become nothing more than a corrupt globalist scam paid for by the United States but owned and controlled by China … [The WHO] deserves to be completely abolished and replaced.”

I asked MEP Anderson for her response. She said: (Video)

“He [Trump] has been right on with so many things. I can’t really intelligently speak about that [the comments about China] because I don’t have that much of an insight as he does. But I absolutely agree. It’s a globalist scheme. It has nothing to do with health. It’s more about piling and lining the pockets of pharmaceutical companies.

Just think how many billions and billions of dollars they made on these despicable mRNA shots. So, yeah, he’s probably right. Whether or not that has something to do with China. I wouldn’t be surprised if it did. But I really don’t know. I seriously do not know. But like I said, I wouldn’t be surprised if it were the case.

Just think when this whole “pandemic” started, like in January, February 2020, I was stunned by how many democratically-elected leaders actually admired China and their approach to tackling the pandemic. I was like, seriously? This is where we want to go now? So, yeah, it [WHO in China’s control] might be true.”

MEP Anderson is the real deal. Christine was everything I imagined she would be in a one-on-one conversation, and it was a real honor and pleasure to be able to speak with her. If you would like to commend Christine Anderson for her efforts, please give her a follow on her various social media platforms:”

Hamas heavyweight Muhammad Qassem Sawalha, 62, was discovered living in London in a home bankrolled by UK citizens. Here’s the kicker: he lives in a Jewish neighborhood. Apparently, living amongst Jews isn’t so bad if a huge chunk of your home is paid for with someone else’s cheddar.

Sawalha and his wife scored a tasty $136,500 taxpayer-funded kiss when they bought a two-story home in London for $390,000. The house is paid off.

Sawalha, who is wanted in Israel for being a member of Hamas, skedaddled to London using a cousin’s passport in the 1990s and snagged his own British passport in the early 2000s.

A 2004 indictment from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) claims Sawalha engaged in clandestine meetings to discuss “revitalizing” terror attacks in Israel as well as creating a money-laundering scheme to supply funds for activities in Gaza as well as the West Bank.

But wait, there’s more. More terrorists!

Sawalha has a Hamas homie named Zaher Birawi, who lives nearby.

Israel named Birawi as a “senior Hamas operative in Europe.” He is also a trustee of a British charity called “Education Aid for Palestinians.”

FACT-O-RAMA! England declared Hamas a terror group and banned it in 2021. Anyone convicted of being a member and/or supporting Hamas can be jailed for up to 14 years.

Christian Wakeford, a member of Britain’s Parliament, wants to know what—if anything—will be done about the terror-loving backstairs boys living in Jolly Old.

“It highlights a clear national security threat if we’ve got operatives from a proscribed terrorist organization living and promoting Hamas in London,” Wakefield declared to Parliament.
