Parsley

Parsley is a biennial plant with bright green, feather-like leaves. It’s in the same family as dill and carrots and is most commonly used as a garnish. Here’s how to grow parsley in your own garden.

About Parsley

This popular herb is used in sauces, salads, and especially soups, as it lessens the need for salt. Not only is parsley the perfect garnish, it’s also good for you; it’s rich in iron and vitamins A and C!

Native to Mediterranean Europe, the parsley plant is a biennial, but is usually grown as an annual in home gardens. After the first year, the leaves tend to become more bitter and tough, but the plant will gladly reseed itself in temperate zones.

Planting

Pick a spot that gets full sun (6+ hours of sunlight) and has well-draining soil that’s rich in organic matter. This herb needs more fertile soil than most herbs. Soil pH should ideally be around 6.0—slightly acidic.

Try to also choose an area that is weed-free; it’ll be easier to see the parsley sprouting.

When to Plant Parsley

Parsley seeds can be started indoors or sown directly in the garden. However, the taproot of parsley plants is delicate, so take extra care if transplanting!

For a head start, plant seeds in individual pots indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last spring frost date.

Sow seeds outdoors 3 to 4 weeks before the last spring frost, as parsley is a slow starter.

For the best germination, soil should be around 70ºF, though parsley seeds will germinate in temperatures as low as 50ºF.

How to Plant Parsley

The germination rate of parsley seeds tends to be low, so consider soaking the seeds overnight before sowing to improve your chance of success.

Sow parsley seeds 1/4 inch deep.

Sow seeds about 6 to 8 inches apart. For larger plants, sow about 8 to 10 inches apart.

Be sure to keep soil moist while seeds germinate.

It can take 2 to 4 weeks for seedlings to appear.

Tip: Plant radish seeds in the gaps between parsley seeds. The radishes will sprout and grow before the parsley appears, and the radishes will mark the row.

Indoors, you can use a grow light to help seedlings grow. Make sure it remains at least two inches above the leaves at all times.

Growing

Be sure to keep parsley plants sufficiently watered, especially through the heat of summer.

Lightly mulch around the plants to conserve moisture.

Recommended Varieties

Flat-leaf varieties: Use in cooking because they have better flavor and are easier to work with than curly-leaf parsley

Curly-leaf varieties: Use when you want a fancier garnish

Harvesting

When the leaf stems have at least three segments, parsley is ready to be harvested.

Cut leaves from the outer stems of the plant whenever you need them. Leave the inner portions of the plant to mature. Ideally, allow 2 to 3 weeks for regrowth between major harvests.

If you want fresh parsley throughout the winter, replant a parsley plant in a pot and keep it in a sunny window.

How to Store Parsley

One method of storing the parsley fresh is to put the leaf stalks in water and keep them in the refrigerator.

Another method of storage is drying the parsley. Cut the parsley at the base and hang it in a well-ventilated, shady, and warm place. Once it’s completely dry, crumble it up and store it in an airtight container.

and his Protect the House 2024 fund in exchange for never supporting a motion to vacate.

I have examined FEC records that show McCarthy gave her $95,788.50 in March, two months after Boebert voted against him. And then 3 months later in June 2023, McCarthy gave Boebert another $31,327.63

I’m told these funds were given to Boebert by McCarthy’s Protect the House 2024 fund under the condition that she never support a motion to vacate against McCarthy.

I am also in communication with some of her associates who have provided me with evidence of more shady campaign finance activity she’s engaged in.

Lauren Boebert doesn’t want you to know that she was paid off by Kevin McCarthy to do a 180 on her position.

She went from demanding concessions in January and putting on a show with @mattgaetz
during the January Speaker vote, to folding like a cheap suit after McCarthy gave her nearly $130,000 for her 2024 re-election.

Now, after voting against the motion to vacate yesterday, Lauren Boebert is trying to gaslight all of you into thinking that she wanted to hold Kevin McCarthy accountable.

She’s bought and paid for. And when you combine this, along with her getting caught jerking off her Democrat boy toy at the theatre in September, and then lying about why she was kicked out after she was caught on camera vaping inside the theatre next to a PREGNANT WOMAN, I predict Lauren Boebert is going to have a hard time getting re-elected.

She will most definitely be primaried. The American people deserve representatives who won’t sell their constituents out for $130,000.

Talk about a cheap date! By DC standards at least…

Just arrived at the Witch Hunt Trial taking place in the very badly failing (so sadly!) State of New York, where people and companies are fleeing by the thousands. Corrupt Attorney General, Letitia James, is a big reason for this. Statute 63(12) is meant to be used for Consumer Fraud. It has never been used before on a “case” such as this, especially since I did absolutely nothing wrong. I borrowed money, paid it back, in full, and got sued, years later, with a trial RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY CAMPAIGN. I am not even entitled, under any circumstances, to a JURY. This Witch Hunt cannot be allowed to continue. It is Election Interference and the start of Communism right here in America!

The whole trial is a Democrat inspired HOAX, just like Russia, Russia, Russia, the SPYING on my campaign, the 51 Fake “Intelligence” Agents, the FISA forgeries, and everything else. THIS IS A TOTAL WITCH HUNT, WHERE I AM NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO HAVE A JURY. The corrupt A.G., Letitia James, convinced the Judge that Mar-a-Lago is only worth $18,000,000 when, in fact, it may be worth 50 to 100 times that amount. Based on their fake lowball number, the Judge ruled that I committed Fraud. NO, CORRUPT LETITIA COMMITTED FRAUD. Her papers are the Fraudulent ones, not mine, and she doesn’t have a DISCLAIMER CLAUSE. This case should never have been brought!!!

  3. Burning Bright re: nationwide alert

Our Take: “As of press time, we seem to have survived. I haven’t encountered a zombie. That said, there were some interesting, albeit anecdotal data points based on people sharing their stories online.

Brian turned his phone off, and he did not get the alert when he turned his phone back on; but a friend in Maryland also turned her phone off, and received the alert a minute after booting up. Both were using iPhones. Other iPhone users reported disallowing alerts in settings — turning them completely off — and still receiving the alert. Android users reported that turning off the notifications worked, and they didn’t receive the alert. Robby Starbuck posted, then deleted on X about the alert giving people headaches. Some circulated their images of the alert, and they were not all the same.

The alert was one of those moments where it felt like the country took a collective, momentary breath because of the varying speculation about what was going to happen. In the end, the alert was like every other emergency alert we receive. But it was fun while it lasted.” — Ashe in America
    ——————
Another Take: “A lot of the usual grifter fear porn abounded ahead of today’s Emergency Alert System test. That said, it’s inarguable that this was a Mass Psychological Event, something that became memetic because it bears the three major markers for doing so:

    It’s Strange.
    It’s Funny.
    It’s Worrying.

Striking those three chords at once is something the Deep State has mastered over the years due to their study and implementation of the Hegelian Dialectic. Now, I believe that trend has been turned around on them. Many of us have been asserting that the ‘Scare Event,’ if it does come to pass would likely be the threat, but not the actualization of a nuclear attack to kick off World War 3.

The Net Effect of this were the enemy in control would be to engineer yet another in a long line of False Flags & their ensuing Money Wars. The Net Effects if patriots are in control (they are,) would be public mandate for Peacemakers to take center stage.” — Burning Bright

Love Parsley – particularly flat leaf Italian parsley.

It’s more of a Fall and Winter vegetable here in N Florida.   I keep a pot of parsley growing as long as it will grow in the heat and humidity, and when it goes to seed, I chop and freeze it to use in soup, pasta sauces and other dishes.

    Have a good day!

Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell are moving forward on Ukraine aid, even with the speaker’s seat up for grabs.

At the moment, the Biden administration doesn’t even have the transfer authority it needs to move assets around for Ukraine.

Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell are moving forward on a major Ukraine aid package, even as there’s a very good chance the next speaker is even less receptive than Kevin McCarthy was.

Majority Leader Schumer said he’s spoken specifically to McConnell about the issue and added “we’ll work together to get a big package done.” Ukraine was in the Senate’s bipartisan spending proposal last week, but was ultimately left out of the eventual stopgap government funding law approved over the weekend.

Now there’s no clear path forward, particularly since there isn’t even a House speaker. So the two Senate leaders appear willing to plunge forward on their own for now.

“We have large bipartisan majorities for aid to Ukraine, and we’re going to work to get it done,” Schumer said.

At the moment, the Biden administration doesn’t even have the transfer authority it needs to move assets around for Ukraine; that was also left out of the stopgap bill and now can’t be approved without a House leader. Then there’s the House candidates lining up to be speaker, including Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who does not support new aid.

And that’s to say nothing of the $24 billion the Biden administration requested for just three months of aid; a yearlong request is likely to be much larger. The Senate bill included only $6 billion of that amount, and even that turned out to be too tough to pass on a tight turnaround.

“It’s still a major priority. I think a majority of the members of both bodies will support it,” McConnell said. “We need some direction from the administration as to how to go forward.”

Attorneys for Donald Trump on Oct. 4 filed an appeal of a New York judge’s summary judgment ruling that the former president’s business fraudulently inflated the value of several properties as well as his net worth.

The former president made his appeal to New York’s Appellate Division, in the midst of a civil trial in the case that was brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James. In August, Judge Arthur Engoron ruled that the former president fraudulently inflated the value of his properties, including Mar-a-Lago, which the former president has vigorously denied in court this week.

What ‘sologomy’ says about the mental health of young women
    By Laura J. Wellington

I’m not sure many of you have even heard the term “Sologomy” yet, nevertheless understand what it is. I certainly hadn’t until lately. Let me explain it to you.

Sologomy is the practice of marrying yourself through a formal ceremony. Similar to the traditional wedding ceremony between you and your partner, Sologomy kicks your partner out of the mix.

You stand in front of the officiant by yourself, commit to love and cherish yourself before anyone else, and then enjoy a reception in the arms of your guests. The wedding night must be a hoot and the gift registry, full of cartons of batteries, I can only presume.

The goal of Sologomy is to solidify your commitment to “you” first. It’s derived from the utter nonsense that “only when you love yourself ahead of another, can you ever properly love another.” It’s a progressive ideology that confuses “dependency” with ”weakness,” “marriage” with “bondage,” and “love” with “inequality.”

It invites perpetual loneliness upon these women, akin to a self-fulfilling prophecy. It reveals their naivety in truly understanding what marriage is all about. It contributes to the shrinking back of men from healthy male-female relationships. And it supports the destruction of the family.

No, the practice isn’t legally recognized yet. The way things keep going in the United States, however, it wouldn’t surprise me if it doesn’t become so very soon — anything to escalate the breakdown of traditional society by those who will benefit the most, unlike these women.

Ironically, where they consider themselves “intelligent” and “sophisticated” for accepting such an undeniably ridiculous premise, they also demonstrate how complicated, misleading, and sad the road to happiness and fulfillment has become. And how powerful.

The mainstream narrative hijacked by the liberal elites and celebrity, legacy media, Democrats, and progressives, these young women have become useful idiots in a charade they’ve cooperatively turned on themselves. You’d think they’d realize it. But they don’t.

Where it began as “feminism” now it is “Sologomy.” These women eagerly accept the hardships and loneliness, negating any correlation from one to another. Then stand at the altar of Sologomy, hugging the repackaged garbage yet again.

It’d be laughable if it weren’t so insidious.

A group of roughly 45 kids routinely ransack a CVS in Washington, D.C., with many thieves taking the food and beverages and stomping on them, according to a Fox 5 report.

“When you walk into this CVS, you’d think the store is closing because there’s barely anything on the shelves,” Fox 5 reporter Sierra Fox said of a CVS in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of D.C. “In fact, the only items in stock are the ones that are locked up. I did ask an employee what gets stolen the most, and they just laughed and said ‘everything.’”

“A big group of kids, like 45 or more, walk in before school, after school and late at night to steal chips and drinks,” Fox 5 reported Tuesday. “They even throw the food and beverages on the ground and stomp on them, leaving behind a big mess.”

“Staff at CVS have been alerted that thieves are aware of when new shipments come in and that’s when they target the store,” the outlet added.

Fox 5 was told that “street vendors are allegedly paying people to go in and steal stuff so they can resell it.”

Fox 5 also reported that it noticed “street vendors selling toothbrushes, men and women body wash, car fresheners, as well as laundry and cleaning supplies, which are some of the same items no longer available at CVS. However, there is no direct evidence at this time that it did come from the store.”

Some local D.C. residents tried to empathize with the thieves clearing out CVS store shelves.

“I’m stuck, I mean, it’s bad to do. At the same time, they’re probably doing it for a reason,” one person said. “They need those things, but they shouldn’t just be going in and clearing the shelves because this isn’t sustainable for the store.”

“A lot of folks actually can’t afford any of the things in there. I’m not saying that stealing has to be the solution to that, right?” another person said. “However, maybe if the city could provide more accessible resources to unhoused or under-income folks that can provide them hair care, bodily care, hygiene care, etc., that could be an option.”

CVS did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

  18. “It Could Happen: Trump May Attend Closed Door House Meeting to Take the Gavel–We’re living in strange times so don’t discount oddities just because they’re odd.”
    JD RUCKER
    OCT 5, 2023

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “If there’s one thing we’ve learned about American politics over the past few years, it’s that the extremely unlikely can become a firm reality very quickly. As strange as the idea of Speaker of the House Donald Trump might have seemed a couple of weeks ago, it’s now on the table and possibly in motion. At least three members of the House — Marjorie Taylor Greene, Troy Nehls, and Anna Paulina Luna — have endorsed Trump for the role. Now, it appears Trump will be attending an all-important closed door meeting on Tuesday.

According to Rogan O’Handley: ‘It’s happening. President Trump will visit DC early next week to pitch himself to be Speaker of the House. Voters have wanted to see this for a long time and it may become a reality as early as next Wednesday.’

Despite enthusiasm from many on social media, this isn’t a done deal. Currently, he’s “considering” it. But the fact that he’s even entertaining a formal visit is telling as it means this is more than just a passing fancy. He’s not just saying he’d take the role if asked. He’s considering actively pitching himself to the caucus.

According to The Post Millennial: ‘2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump is reportedly considering a visit to Congress next week. A Republican familiar with internal discussions revealed to Politico that Trump is open to pitching himself as a candidate for House Speaker. The source said that Trump would speak to House GOP before the lawmakers’ internal speaker election, which is set to take place on Wednesday.’

Every Speaker of the House to serve has been a member of Congress. However, the Constitution does not require it. This has been tradition but there’s nothing traditional about politics in America today.

On a personal note, I’d love to see this happen for two reasons. The obvious benefit would be knowing the House is being led by someone who will be far more transparent, bold, and incentivized than we’ve seen in at least decades. And by “incentivized” I mean there will be a fire under his rear to make things happen since this would obviously be a launching platform for his general election campaign for president. The days of feckless, say-much-but-do-nothing Republican majorities will be temporarily suspended.

The second reason I’d love to see this is because the experience will benefit him and America greatly if he becomes president again. I’ve always said the ideal president would be someone who was successful in the private sector BEFORE short stints in both legislature and executive government roles. Calvin Coolidge traversed that path and should be the inspiration for modern day conservatism, in my humble opinion.

This is all crazy, but it’s 2023 so we shouldn’t expect anything less.”

On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Source,” Sen. Host Kaitlan Collins asked, “Are you willing to hold up any bill that comes to the Senate without that funding for Ukraine in it?”

Booker responded, “I have never seen the kind of resolve in my caucus, and I wish there were public meetings to see the passionate speeches given across the spectrum of my caucus in the Senate about how the urgency we all see, people have quoted history, we’ve had people who stood up who had relatives who survived the Holocaust, the speeches I’ve heard in our private meetings in the Senate are so strong in support of Ukraine. And I know from talking to my Republican colleagues over there that there is a strong support there as well. He backed regulation to weaken the power of Silicon Valley technology giants and fought to restrict weapons transfers to Ukraine and Saudi Arabia.

In a message posted earlier today, Gaetz floated a sweeping ethics reform package as a key demand moving forward. He offered to partner with Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., on legislation to ban congressional stock trading, institute a twelve-year term limit for lawmakers, and ban lobbyist and PAC donations, in exchange for his support to increase the threshold for removing the Speaker of the House. The motion to vacate change has been demanded by GOP officials concerned about future political volatility.

But industry insiders are pushing back. Cesar Conda, a former aide to Dick Cheney, whose defense industry lobbying firm Navigators Global helps the Ukrainian government secure American funds, scorned Gaetz as an “arsonist” and endorsed a call for lawmakers to expel the Florida lawmaker from the Republican conference. Americans for Tax Reform, a dark money group funded in part by Amazon, Google, and Meta, the parent company of Facebook, unveiled a radio and digital advertising campaign against Gaetz yesterday, accusing him of spending “too much time chasing TV cameras.”

“Following Matt Gaetz anywhere is a fool’s errand,” decried John Feehery, a former GOP press aide who now serves as a corporate lobbyist. McCarthy’s allies have similarly fumed and called for retribution. Rep. Austin Scott, R-Ga., has called for Gaetz and the seven other House Republicans in support of the McCarthy ouster to be stripped of committee assignments.

Newt Gingrich, in a column for the Washington Post, wrote that Gaetz is “destroying the House GOP’s ability to govern” and called for his expulsion from the party. Gingrich has since appeared on Fox News and other media platforms to call Gaetz and other insurgent lawmakers “traitors.”

Jake Sherman, a reporter known for close ties to McCarthy, circulated a claim from a “GOP source” suggesting Gaetz’s request for $50 million in “advanced helicopter training system hanger” in his district would be snubbed.

Opponents of Gaetz appear also to be coalescing around an effort to use a longstanding ethics inquiry against him. The New York Times this week resurfaced a two year old House Ethics Committee investigation into Gaetz over a variety of misconduct allegations, including sexual misconduct. Earlier this year, the Justice Department announced that it would not bring charges against Gaetz over similar claims because of a lack of evidence. Gaetz has maintained that both inquiries are politically motivated.

Yesterday, after the ethics accusations were recirculated among reporters, Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., told CNN that Gaetz was known to brag about his sexual escapades on the floor of the House of Representatives. “He bragged about how he would crush E.D. medicine and chase it with energy drinks so he could go all night. This is obviously before he got married,” Mullin said.

“I am the most investigated man in the United States Congress,” Gaetz told reporters earlier this week. “It seems that the Ethics Committee’s interest in me waxes and wanes based on my relationship with the speaker.” The Florida lawmaker has redrawn the political calculus in Washington with his spirited challenge to party leaders and to politicians. “I take no lecture on asking patriotic Americans to weigh in and contribute to this fight to those who would grovel and bend knee for the lobbyists and special interests who own our leadership who have hollowed out this town,” thundered Gaetz on Tuesday, shortly before the vote to remove McCarthy began.

The future leadership of the House remains unclear. But many of Gaetz’s demands, including ethics reforms and a pause in U.S. military support for Ukraine, are now much more likely.”
