One of my all-time favorite Tom Petty songs is American Girl.  It’s a story about a girl longing to be more than what she was. It was recorded on July 4th 1976 during the Bicentennial and American Girl was the last song performed in concert by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. They played it to close out the encore of their performance on September 25, 2017, at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California, the final concert of their 40th Anniversary Tour. Petty died of complications from cardiac arrest after an accidental prescription medication overdose on October 2, just over a week later.

My first real boyfriend was actually a Tom Petty look alike and when he took me to a Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ concert, we were mobbed!  Everyone thought he was THE Tom Petty.  Security finally came to investigate the crowd and we ended up getting to meet Tom.  Nice but brief hello.  It was cool.

    Retired Magistrate here: So Jim Jordan is going to run for Speaker of the House; not good. Jordan is McCarthy 2, just shorter. I live in Jordan’s district and he has not done anything for people in this district or the people of Ohio let alone the U.S.

    I think the whole drama between McCarthy and Gaetz was orchestrated to make MAGA individuals think that now somebody, Gaetz, is actually going to do something. McCarthy will end up better off financially than he is now; Gaetz looks like a hero and Mr. Imma going do something, (Jordan) is what we are left with. Jordan was McCarthy’s pit bull, talked tough but never did anything. That made the RINO’s happy and a lot of conservatives believed that Jordan, someday, some how would actually do something. When Gaetz sang the praises of Jordan and stated that he would make a good speaker, that is when I knew the whole McCarthy ouster was just another Republican side show to keep the masses happy.

    Call me a cynic; I am.

    OMG! While Zelensky was in New York begging for money and speaking at the UN, his wife went shopping. One – note ONE – of her stops was at Cartier where she spent $1,100,000. Where did she get that money? Isn’t it time to stop sending billions to Ukraine? Note also in the story – she sounds like a really nasty, entitled character.

    But THIS FUCKING CAREER POLITICIAN who kept breaking his word and going behind his own coalition’s back to do deals to grease all the right skids so all this fucking BUSINESS AS USUAL could continue loses his job and all of a sudden certain “Conservative” [Inc.] people are wailing about how ‘chaos’ has broken out, and how outrageous and unsustainable our present situation is?

    SHUT THE FUCK UP.
