Jellyfish aren’t really fish
Though they have the word “fish” in their name, jellyfish aren’t really fish at all. In fact, they couldn’t be more different. Jellyfish don’t have fins, gills, or scales.
They come from a completely different phylum. Really, the only thing they have in common is that they both live in marine habitats.

They don’t have a brain
They also lack a heart, stomach, and many of the other organs we are familiar with.
While they do have a nervous system, jellyfish don’t possess a brain in the way that we typically think of them.
Instead, they have a network of neurons that allows them to sense different aspects of their environment, like changes in water chemistry or which direction they are facing.
These jellyfish are made up of 95% water
The jellylike material that makes up most of what we consider a jellyfish is called mesoglea.
This material is mainly made up of water, with the exception of a few structural proteins. The other 5% of jellyfish is their muscle and nerve cells.

Jellyfish are the oldest animals on Earth
Fossils dating back to the Cambrian period suggest that jellyfish are at least 500 million years old. This makes them about three times as old as dinosaurs, if not more. 2
Two different species of jellyfish share the Fried Egg name
Phacellophora camtschatica and Cotylorhiza tuberculate are both referred to as fried egg jellyfish. This name comes from the bright yellow dome surrounded by a white or transparent membrane around the edges, making it look like a fried egg floating in the water. However, there are some major differences between these two jellies.
Phacellophora camtschaticas are large jellyfish that can be found in oceans worldwide. The bell can grow to a diameter of about 2 feet long. They have 16 clusters of tentacles that can stretch as long as 20 feet. They typically sit motionless in the ocean, acting as an underwater spider web to capture their prey.
Cotylorhiza tuberculates have short appendages that are a deep purple color. These are much smaller than the other species and are most commonly found in the Mediterranean Sea. This jellyfish is also more apt to move through the ocean by slowly pulsing its bell.

They seem to be adapting well to climate change
Unlike most creatures, jellyfish don’t seem to be having a hard time with climate change. In fact, they may even be thriving in it.
According to experts, jellyfish populations are expected to rise. This is because they can survive on less oxygen than most marine creatures, even plankton. As oxygen levels lower in ocean waters, jellyfish are expected to outlive most of the species. 3
They catch prey in their tentacles
Their tentacles are adapted to sting prey and potential predators such as fish, turtles and sea birds.

You can see the fried egg jellyfish (Cotylorhiza tuberculata) swimming with small fish caught in its tentacles.
They don’t often travel in groups
Though we often see pictures of a large group of jellies floating through the ocean, these creatures are fairly solitary animals. They typically only get clumped together when they are following the same water current or food source.
However, when they are found in a group, they tend to go by some fun names, including smack, swarm, and bloom.

Jellyfish reproduce asexually
A single jellyfish will reproduce both sexually and asexually in its lifetime.
During the medusa form, jellyfish produce sexually by spawning eggs or sperm into the ocean and fertilization takes place in the open water.
However, jellyfish reproduce in their polyp form as well. This is a process called budding, in which a polyp divides in half to create a genetically identical polyp.
Their lifespan is less than a year
Like many jellyfish, fried egg jellyfish are short-lived. They only live for about half a year, usually from summer to winter. Research suggests that this has to do with the variations in water temperature throughout the seasons. 4
Jellyfish are edible
People living off the coast of China have been eating jellyfish for at least the past 1700 years.
In fact, it is estimated that more and more people will turn to jellyfish as we overfish more desirable fish species.

How do you like your eggs? Sunny-side up, or with a little sand?!
Crabs are known to hitch a ride on these jellies
Occasionally, crabs and small fish will tuck themselves away in the underside of the jellyfish’s bell. Crabs have even been to plant themselves on top of the bell, away from the jellyfish’s stingers.

Morning, Pat! Chilly here at 65, dark and raining – I woke up seeing lightning thru the window at 5 am and hearing thunder. And this is just the beginning – it supposedly will taper off, then be back with a vengeance into the week-end.
At 6:30, after my shower, I opened the patio door – it had started raining so I expected GT was hunkered down – but I put the food out anyway, with the light on. (S)he showed up, thru the rain, and was chowing down but left when I turned on the interior overhead light. I’ll leave it for a bit. I’m going to see if I can get this mop chopped off today, if Marla’s got some time on her schedule. I want it off my neck and out of my eyes! Never did see any hummers so I’ll be bringing in all the feeders soon to store for the winter.

I used to always have bangs but back then, I had to be concerned with my appearance for work and, admittedly, I wanted to look attractive. Now, the plants and birds don’t care nor do I! Short, simple, no blow drying, styling or curling! I have zero natural curl and my hair is (or was anyway) thick and coarse; of course it’s thinning out a lot now and is mostly gray and even more like straw.

Crooked Joe Biden announced yesterday that he has permanently ended certain very powerful & effective (but horrible!) Weapons of Mass & Lethal Destruction, but that other countries, which have similar weapons, have not followed suit. Can you imagine doing this without a deal for others to simultaneously do the same? We no longer have that powerful bargaining chip!!! Biden is a fool who is being laughed at all over the World. He is only good at ELECTION INTERFERENCE & WEAPONIZING our ELECTIONS!

A very important deadline is approaching at the end of the month. Republicans in Congress can and must defund all aspects of Crooked Joe Biden’s weaponized Government that refuses to close the Border, and treats half the Country as Enemies of the State. This is also the last chance to defund these political prosecutions against me and other Patriots. They failed on the debt limit, but they must not fail now. Use the power of the purse and defend the Country!

Musk: why isn’t the MSM covering the border crisis?
By the end of Biden’s first term somewhere around 8 million illegal aliens will cross American borders and fan out around the country.
Even some Democrats, now that they are forced to deal with the actual consequences, have stopped virtue signaling and started complaining about the invasion. Eric Adams, who little more than a year ago was loudly proclaiming his pride in the sanctuary status of his city is now crying uncle, demanding action.
The scale of the influx is unprecedented, and the dangers it poses are clear. Americans are dropping like flies from fentanyl overdoses, our cities are spending billions on food and housing, and literal terrorists have been smuggled into the country. Tens of thousands of unaccompanied children have been lost, and at least that many are working illegally to pay off the drug cartels who are threatening their families back home.

This is the Trump “insider” who claimed that President Trump wrestled with the driver of The Beast (grabbed the steering wheel from a burly Secret Service Agent) because he wanted to be driven to the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol.
She will say anything!
Cassidy Hutchinson, 24, claims Rudy Giuliani, then 76, groped her at ‘Stop the Steal’ rally on Jan. 6: ‘Like a wolf closing in on its prey’
Former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson has alleged in her forthcoming book that Rudy Giuliani groped her backstage at the 45th president’s “Stop the Steal” rally on Jan. 6, 2021.
Hutchinson, who was 24 at the time, whose tome “Enough” is due out next week, recalled the encounter with the former mayor and Trump attorney shortly before the then-president’s supporters ransacked the Capitol and delayed the certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s 2020 election win.
“‘By the way,’ he says, fingering the fabric, ‘I’m loving this leather jacket on you.’ His hand slips under my blazer, then my skirt,” Hutchinson writes, according to the Guardian.
“It’s fair to ask Cassidy Hutchinson why she is just now coming out with these allegations from two and a half years ago, as part of the marketing campaign for her upcoming book release,” Giuliani political adviser Ted Goodman said in a statement. “This is a disgusting lie against Mayor Rudy Giuliani — a man whose distinguished career in public service includes taking down the Mafia, cleaning up New York City and comforting the nation following September 11th.”

1/3 Jack Smith’s case in SDFL is on the verge of collapse for his ABUSE of a DC GJ. Judge Cannon identified a problem & DEMANDED briefing on the issue by Nauta, inviting Trump’s attorneys to also respond. They joined Nauta’s response. I’m NOT happy they failed to file separately.
2/3 Smith’s 8.22.23 response is an attempt to GASLIGHT Cannon:
“When the [Govt] started the [GJ]
investigation in [DC], it could not know the full scope of the evidence that
would be gathered, but from the outset, the investigation encompassed conduct that spanned [DC & FL]..”
3/3 “From the outset” the only “conduct” Smith mentions taking place in DC was while Trump was POTUS. It’s IMPOSSIBLE for his actions IN DC re Pres. Records to be criminal. So Smith’s INITIAL use of DC GJ was gross misconduct & the only offense in DC resulted from DOJ misconduct.
4/4 This is CIRCULAR MISCONDUCT in abusing a DC GJ:
“[T]he investigation uncovered evidence of federal offenses in both districts.”
The ONLY offense in DC is an alleged perjury during an IMPROPER use of GJ in DC to investigate allegations that took place EXCLUSIVELY in Florida.
5/5 Every Count in the Indictment lists the date of offense as having begun AFTER Trump was no longer POTUS. Hence, the Indictment contains an ADMISSION by DOJ that no offense did – OR EVER COULD HAVE – taken place in DC👇:

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/ag-garland-expected-clash-house-republicans-claims-doj/story
Our Take: “Listening to Garland speak raises my blood pressure, but Republican committee members went hard at the AG in Wednesday’s hearing, with several viral moments. Garland fumbled over his words and appeared to perjure himself a couple of times relative to prior statements, with Rep Thomas Massie (R-KY) stating as much in a fiery exchange.
Rep Matt Gaetz (R-FL) hammered Garland on Hunter and Joe’s relationship, with a spotlight on the art-dealing scandal. The scandal has all the classic earmarks of influence peddling and money laundering, but Garland confirmed that he has not asked questions about it or investigated.
Rep Kevin Kiley (R-CA) pinned Garland down on the inception of his infamous parent-targeting memo, with the AG getting flustered and citing the mainstream media as cause to target conservative moms and dads at school board meetings. He also confirmed that he did not speak to FBI Director Chris Wray prior to its issuance.
It’s theater, but it’s nice to see Garland sweat, and we can all breathe another sigh of relief being reminded that this man is not a Supreme Court Justice. And it’s obvious that Garland is still bitter about it.” — Ashe in America

I was sitting here remembering how I used to wear my hair and why it ended up so short….I kept it at collar-length while I was in the Army but after that, I wore it long and kept it permed. My last hubby wanted to get another tattoo and I didn’t want him to – he LOVED my long hair! So I told him if he got another one, I was getting my hair cut off. He didn’t believe me and got the tat – the next day, I had it all cut off super short. Oooh, he was NOT a happy camper but he learned a valuable lesson that day! ROFL – and I discovered how much easier and cheaper it was with short hair!

Actually, now that I think about it – I did have it long and permed while I was in the Army – I just kept it pinned up. I also frosted it with one of those do-it-yourself kits. My friend, Caroline, was doing it for me at my apartment and suddenly realized, when she was half-way thru, that she had to leave for a date (she didn’t have many of those, sadly). So I tried to finish it myself, got this huge blotch of white in the back, then tried to dye it – it turned bright fluorescent green! Remember me telling that story? I called in sick to the Pentagon on Monday and just started hitting beauty salons until I found someone who said they would try. He hand-mixed the dye and had to re-do it 3 times before it was tamed down enough. The final color matched the turtle-neck that I wore under my uniform pants suit! I caught all kinds of shit over that in the mess-hall: “Lifer dog, dyes her hair to match her uniform!!!”

“All of this while they’re driving in limos, flying in private jets and buying shit that comes wrapped in plastic. I swear to god you cannot make this shit up.”

NPR.com – “The 135-page legal complaint, filed through the office of California Attorney General Rob Bonta in San Francisco superior court, alleges that five big oil companies along with the American Petroleum Institute, a trade organization that represents them, orchestrated a decadeslong disinformation campaign to hide the correlation between fossil fuel production and climate change.
The state claims that this intentional cover-up has gone on since at least the 1970s and has delayed the public’s response to climate change, exacerbating extreme natural disasters and incurring tens of billions of dollars in recovery costs.
The oil companies named as defendants are BP, Chevron,, ConocoPhillips, Exxon Mobil, and Shell. The state is seeking an abatement fund paid for by the defendants that will finance recovery efforts for the future damage of human-caused climate change. It also asks that the oil companies and their trade group pay a share of the damages from extreme weather disasters worsened by climate change. It’s the latest in a slew of climate litigation against oil companies in cities nationwide.”

only took a few months for this ILLEGAL to commit murder.
An illegal migrant from Peru has been charged with murder in Eagle Pass, Texas, after a 40-year-old man from Houston, was found bludgeoned to death in the backyard of his home, according to the Maverick County Sheriff’s Office.
Roberto Emilio Vasquez-Santamaria, 64, was arrested in connection with a homicide that occurred on Monday. Vasquez-Santamaria had been released by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after illegally crossing the southern border in May to a non-government shelter in Eagle Pass after providing a written promise to appear for court proceedings, according to several news outlets.
The location where the victim was discovered is connected to previous migrant smuggling incidents, although a motive for the murder has not yet been determined, according to anonymous law enforcement officials.
The Department of Homeland Security has faced criticism recently regarding its ability to effectively track migrants who are released into the United States. Official data shows that U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers have encountered nearly 2 million illegal migrants so far this year.
