  3. “Hungary will maintain ban on Ukrainian grain regardless of EU decision — The current EU import ban expires on Friday”
    September 12, 2023
editor: REMIX NEWS author: MAGYAR HÍRLAP

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “The EU is currently negotiating the future of Ukrainian grain imports and what will happen after Sept. 15, but Hungary has signaled it intends to maintain its grain import ban even if the EU does not extend the ban past the deadline.

The Hungarian government argues it is doing everything possible to protect the interests of Hungarian farmers, If the joint action does not lead to a result, Hungary is ready to impose the ban on a national legal basis, announced the Hungarian Agriculture Ministry in response to the Hungarian newspaper Magyar Hírlap.

In response to a question by the paper, the Ministry of Agriculture noted that the traditional route of Ukrainian grain exports used to be from the Black Sea ports, mainly to non-EU countries. As a result of the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which was further aggravated by the closure of the sea route, the focus shifted to land transport.

In one year, Ukraine exported 61 million tons of cereals and oilseeds, of which, 28 million tons went to the European Union. While before the war, imports to Hungary from Ukraine totaled 40,000 to 50,000 tons per year, by 2022 the volume of cereals and oilseeds had reached 2.5 million tons. After that, in 2023, until imports were stopped, this amounted to about 250,000 tons per month. The Hungarian ministry confirmed that if joint European action does not lead to results, Hungary is ready to impose the ban on a national legal basis, they added.

As was the case earlier this year, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Hungary, the so-called frontline countries bordering Ukraine, have a geographical interest in restricting imports of Ukrainian agricultural products from Ukraine at least until the end of the year. These are the countries that have consistently indicated that they are receiving such huge quantities of Ukrainian produce that their cereal markets are completely collapsing.

The Hungarian ministry added that only after the EU’s decision on the grains import ban will it become clear whether the countries worst-hit by the Ukrainian grains dumping will act against it individually or as a group.”

“Norway is first European country to win lawsuit against Facebook, Instagram over illegal data collection — Meta gets a €87,000 per day rolling fine for gathering sensitive data”
    September 12, 2023
editor: REMIX NEWS author: MAGYAR NEMZET
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “European regulators have fined Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, several times, but now one country has won a lawsuit against the social media platform, and last week the European Commission ruled that even the biggest tech companies must comply with the law.

Google, Amazon, Apple, Bytedance (Tiktok), Meta, and Microsoft must comply with Europe’s new Digital Market Act (DMA), with the European Commission last week listing the biggest “renegade” platforms with more than 45 million users in the EU. The new package of legislation states, among other things, that companies cannot track users outside their platform without consent or prevent the removal of certain apps or programs from a phone or computer.

The EU’s fines have opened the way for some European countries to fine Meta over data protection issues. Norway, a non-EU country, was the first to act.

The Scandinavian country’s data protection authority ordered the company in the summer to stop collecting sensitive personal information it uses to sell targeted advertising. Meta was told that if the illegal behavior was not stopped, the company would be fined 1 million Norwegian kroner (€87,400) a day, according to the decision. In early August, representatives of the Norwegian Data Protection Authority and Meta had to appear in the Oslo District Court, as the technology giant challenged the legality of the fine and the decision to pay the fine.

The final judgment was not long in coming and was handed down last week by the Norwegian capital’s court, a day before the European Commission was summoned. The ruling means that the penalty will enter into force for 90 days after the notice back in August, i.e., the 1 million kroner fine can be levied for every day.

“We are very pleased with this decision. This is a victory for privacy,” Line Coll, director of the national Data Protection Authority, told Norwegian public broadcaster NRK. He added that it was clear from the ruling that the authority’s decision in July was final and that the fine was recoverable, even though Meta still considers the amount to be illegal and unnecessary.”

            1. And that’s all you’ve ever driven? I’ll bet you would come to really like a Ford Ranger extended cab. They aren’t so massive – oh, if I could only find someone who would trade me even/steven…..I’d jump at the chance of going back to a Ranger! And they have a sexy sports version, with flared fenders, additional step-ups, and a short-bed.

      1. Hmmm….been researching that judge – very much a leftist; originally appointed in 2000 by Slick Willy; she is another Sotomayor!!! Do NOT expect anything remotely favorable from this judge!!! Just sayin’…..

From Wiki: “Murguia recused herself from the federal racial profiling case against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in February 2009. Arpaio’s attorneys alleged Murguia had, “…a natural, personal bias in favor of the Plaintiffs,” based upon her sister’s leadership of National Council of La Raza, which has been highly critical of Arpaio.[10]”
        ————–
“On March 25, 2010, President Obama nominated Murguia to a fill a vacancy on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit that was created by the decision by Judge Michael Daly Hawkins to assume senior status.[3] On December 22, 2010, she was confirmed by the United States Senate by a 89–0 vote.[4] On January 4, 2011, she received her commission and took the oath of office.[2][5] She became Chief Judge on December 1, 2021.[6]”

  6. If there were to be a paradise on earth for me…one requirement just might be weather like I’m enjoying today! Stunningly nice! Nice breeze came up, 80 temperature, partly cloudy….I do believe I would be happy with this for 80% of the days in the year! I do want some cooler and hotter days but very few. Man, it’s sooo nice! And I’ll take rain or maybe even a good, rousing thunderstorm the rest of the time! There ya’ go – paradise!!!
