Reader’s Digest had an article about “the latest” kitchen gadgets and while some were pretty obvious about what they were used for, some were not.  So, I decided to post pictures of 7 of them and you can try to guess what they are for.  Answers at the end.

Ready to go shopping for these items?  They can all be found on amazon according to Reader’s Digest, but I’m sure you can find them elsewhere as well. Here are the answers:

  1. Morning all!
    it’s about 63* here and just getting light. the hummers came to the windows looking for the feeders so i took them out. the little bee was persistent as i hung the feeders, but the hummers drove it off for now.

    1. Morning, Pat! 61 here, sun coming up now, some low clouds in the west that will probably disappear once the sun is up. Hit 104 here yesterday but low humidity so the a/c only kicked on once or twice. I surprised GT this morning – he was sitting next to the a/c unit and I said good morning from the window directly above his head.

      I put the jelly pans out on the sidewalk – when I put the first one out, it had a coating over most of the bottom. It was half-empty yesterday, when I put the 2nd one out that I had just filled a couple of days before, with at least 1/4″ layer of jelly and a coating of moths. Now, almost half of that one is already gone and most of the first. Those ants/bees/wasps do a good job of cleaning up that stuff! I didn’t want it in my trashcan so I figured I’d try this and it worked!

      As for the hamburger chopper, a fork works quite well, thank you, for browning hamburger. Potato screw – for baking them, I guess, maybe for the grill? And toothpicks work just fine, too! I admit it – I don’t get the spill stopper? How about just using a lid? Beats me how the citrus juicer works, not that I would ever use one anyway! Those 2 were the only ones that confused me.

        it was so chilly last evening we didn’t have the a/c on or even use a fan to sleep–and the bedroom is the warmest room in the house!
        yeah I don’t get the need for so many gadgets myself–I use a fork too for hamburger.
        I prick my taters before putting them on the grill and they always get done perfectly.
        the spill stopper? that might be something I’d try. hubby cooks fettucini to go with his shrimp and when we cook other noodles, sometimes the pot tries to spill over. I rest a wooden spoon across the top of boiling water and mostly that works. shrug…

        1. Same with the taters but I poke them with a fork 5-6 times (Mom taught me about poking them when I was growing up) before I put them inside an oven mitt and microwave them. Works great and I don’t have to heat up the house with the oven. I’m into the gadgets for the MW, like my omelet maker – it works perfectly and I’ve got the timing down now. Whisk the eggs and ingredients, pour it into the cooker, MW it for 2-4 minutes (depending on how many eggs), then put the cheese on, fold it over and hook it closed. In a couple of minutes, open it out and flip it onto my plate nicely folded over – voila! I rinse it thoroughly immediately with hot water, before letting it sit for a bit filled with hot/soapy water. Easy to clean!

        2. As for pots spilling over, I just tip the lid on the top enough so the steam can get out and turn the gas down a bit; plus, my pot lids have a steam hole in them.

            1. I have a few hand-me-down and yard sale pans that have older lids – those I have to tip! My favorite skillet is one my friend and roomie, Tom, gave me in VA waaaaay back in the early ’90’s and he got it at a yard sale himself. I was never able to find a lid with a perfect fit so that one is tricky when I’m trying to drain the grease! I would love to have a whole set of these pans but the emblem is worn out on the bottom – it is a steel pan, something along the lines of RevereWare. No matter how badly I burn something, with a little elbow grease and an SOS pad, it always, always, always slicks right up again. You should have seen it after my Sis and I got done cooking liver and onions 4-5 years ago – anyone would have sworn it would never come clean and yet….it is the same as ever. I simply can’t pin down what brand it is.

              1. i have a stainless steel set I bought 30 some years ago. once when i tried to make toffee, it blackened the pot. after it cooled, i poured baking soda on it with a little water and let it soak that way for a while. it came right out!

    – Got Election Fraud back into the public conversation in a major way just as the Scariant COVID-23 Scamdemic is being spun up in an obvious attempt to steal the 2024 Election in the same manner.

    – Seized the Collective Mind by becoming the most bipartisan memetic image in American history, with Trump supporters using it as an emblem and a rallying cry, Anons using it as the culmination of years of projections, theorizing and white-pill delivery, Liberals using it to mock, but accidentally making it MORE viral, and Uniparty Establishment Shills pissing themselves with existential dread when gazing upon it.

    – Ingratiated Trump to a Black American community that already liked him significantly more than the Establishment Uniparty (Democrats or Republicans) was willing to admit by confirming the fact that said Establishment Uniparty hates HIM almost as much as it hates THEM. (We don’t need everyone to love Trump. We only need them to see him as an enemy of their enemy. Mission accomplished.)

    – Set the stage for the Trial of the Century while lending credence to the Disclosure Defense strategy.

    Remember … Donald Trump v The Establishment isn’t overshadowing or distracting FROM his 2024 Presidential Campaign.

    95.6 percent of robbery suspects arrested in 2022 New York City were non-white.

    89.4 percent of rape suspects arrested in 2022 New York City were non-white.

    98.9 percent of shooting suspects arrested in 2022 New York City were non-white.

    The race/ethnicity of known Murder and Non-Negligent Manslaughter suspects mirrors the victim population with Black (63.8%) and Hispanic (30.5%) suspects accounting for the majority of suspects. White suspects account for (2.9%) of all Murder and Non-Negligent Manslaughter suspects while Asian/Pacific Islander account for (2.9%) Murder and Non-Negligent Manslaughter suspects.

    Maybe they should tell FBI Director Wray and Merrick Garland so they know who is committing all of the crime!

    Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reportedly purchased a luxury mansion in Egypt. The mansion was bought through his mother-in-law, likely to hide the sale from the public. There is also evidence showing that the ruler used Western war aid money given to Ukraine to buy the property.

    This shouldn’t surprise anyone. This is what the masters do while they jack up inflation and impoverish the slave class in order to create dependence. We all had better stop believing in authority sooner rather than later or this is going to become a major problem for those who are not ruling over others.

    Egyptian investigative journalist Mohammed Al-Alawi initially broke the news following major in-depth research. Al-Alawi also published interviews with sources familiar with the purchase of the luxurious mansion. He disclosed that the Zelensky family acquired a luxury property valued at around $5 million in the Egyptian city of El Gouna.

    Al-Alawi also published documents that prove it was the Zelensky family that purchased the villa. Olga Kiyashko, Zelensky’s mother-in-law, was the one who actually purchased the property for $4.85 million on May 16th. Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska is the daughter of Kiyashko.

    According to analysts, the money Kiyashko used to purchase the property appears to come from Western financial aid packages given to Kyiv. Ukraine has been involved in a war with Russia since February 2022, with many Western nations giving assistance in different forms – be it money or military equipment. –Natural News

    Egyptian political scientist Abdulrahman Alabbassy criticized Zelensky and his relatives for spending fortunes amassed by Western war aid on personal luxuries instead of using Ukraine’s donated riches for military and humanitarian purposes.

    “I am surprised that relatives of top Ukrainian officials began to buy luxury real estate after the start of [the Russia-Ukraine war]. I don’t remember anything like this before,” he said. Alabbassy expressed certainty that Kiyashko’s property purchase in El Gouna “is the result of corruption and the theft of humanitarian aid to Ukraine.”

    No kidding. All rulers are corrupt and Zelensky is no exception. The only option to stop this blatant distasteful behavior is to stop believing others have the right to rule. Government is slavery, and the first step to abolishing it is to stop believing in it.

    Tucker Carlson was called to Washington because of a possible interview with Putin.

    Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson said the US National Security Agency hacked into his Signal account and read correspondence about a planned interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

    According to the presenter, he received a call and was summoned to Washington to clarify the situation. When he arrived, the question was asked if he was planning a trip to meet with Putin.

    “How did you know, I didn’t tell anyone. Not at all. Not to my brother, not to my wife, not to anyone at all. How did you know? Because the NSA hacked into your correspondence with another person with whom you discussed this,” Carlson said.

    The day before, RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan said that Tucker Carlson wants to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin.

    Sweetwater is a unique place with a special history, dating back to the days before the American settlers; the name of this small town in central Texas is itself, derived from a word of the Kiowa Indians. The Kiowa were a nomadic tribe that often hunted through “Mobeetie” or in English, “sweet water” but eventually, the tribe was brought to heel by a federal military under the command of Ulysses S. Grant, during the conflict known as the Red River War — Grant didn’t get the moniker Mr. Lincoln’s Butcher for nothing!

    Speaking of subjugation … from an article out at Texas Monthly four days ago:

    Officials in Sweetwater say an out-of-state company has made their town a dump for the seldom-seen trash created by renewable energy.

    Sweetwater has unwittingly become home to what is possibly the world’s largest collection of unwanted wind turbine blades.

    For anyone who doesn’t already know, wind turbine blades at this point in time, can’t be recycled, so ordinarily, these expired blades wind up in landfills. According to a study published in June of this year in the Scientific Reports journal, around 2.4% of turbine blades must be decommissioned every year, and per the United States Geological Survey, there are more than 70,800 wind turbines registered in the country. So, assuming each turbine has three blades on it, that means that roughly 5,100 blades every year, just in the U.S., become literal garbage (although arguably, they always were). Blades can weigh anywhere from 5,200 pounds each, to as much as 27,000 — that makes for between 27 million and 138 million pounds of trash bound for landfills annually.

    Back to Sweetwater. In 2017, a Washington-state company called Global Fiberglass Solutions came along, promising an exciting new way to repurpose the blades, and since then, GFS has been dumping the blades in the far-off land of Texas. According to the Texas Monthly article, the managing director himself admitted that only a fraction of the stockpile had ever been “recycled.”

    Also from the article was the testimony of Pamala Meyer, a resident of Sweetwater:

    When forklifts deposited the first of these in a field behind the apartment complex where Pamala Meyer lives … she wasn’t initially bothered. But then the blades … kept coming. Each was cut into thirds, with each segment longer than a school bus. Thousands arrived over several years, eventually blanketing more than thirty acres, in stacks rising as high as basketball backboards. Every few dozen feet, a break among the stacks leads into an industrial hedge maze.

    I assumed the “eyesore” turbines couldn’t look worse than when they were erect and functioning, but boy was I wrong! This is an old X (formerly Twitter) post, which shows you how long this has been a problem for the people of Sweetwater:

    But the green aristocrats can’t be bothered with the concerns of the little guy, they’re on a mission to save humanity! (The irony is painful.) Lastly:

    Sweetwater isn’t the only place Global Fiberglass has stockpiled blades. It has a total of 1,300 in Newton, Iowa, and two other cities in that state, according to the state’s Department of Natural Resources. After an investigation, the agency concluded in 2021 there was no recycling going on, nor was any likely to happen. It declared the company to be running an unpermitted dump.

    A dump. Leftists skirting regulations, contaminating the environment and polluting the landscape, all the make a buck. Classic.

    Walter Bagehot, although not consistently reliable mind given his asinine issues with the U.S. constitution (he denigrated the document as“inflexible” … which was the point), did however accurately articulate what the residents of Sweetwater now experience; he once said, “You may talk of the tyranny of Nero and Tiberius; but the real tyranny is the tyranny of your next-door neighbor.”

    Green aristocrats live and die by exploitation, and nowhere is that more obvious than their approach to policy and civic life; they don’t even have to have political control, their presence in a community alone brings tyranny!

    The former head of the CDC was and key CDC as well as NIH Staff are UNC Graduates and work at UNC
    UNC played a key role in developing the COVID Bio-Weapon and mRNA Injections
    UNC, Wuhan University and Wuhan Lab cooperated and exchanged staff
    The NIH funnels millions of COVID research dollars to UNC
    This “shooter” is a Chinese National Wuhan Exchange Student

    A Russian political analyst has claimed warlord Yevgeny Prigozhin is alive after his body double was killed in last week’s plane crash – not the Wagner chief himself.

    ENTIRE ARTICLE: “An annual festival dedicated to promoting the cultural heritage of ethnic minorities who migrated to Britain has yet again been “marred by serious violence,” with eight people stabbed, a police officer bitten, and 275 arrests made.

    The Notting Hill Carnival, held every August in the West London district of the same name, is portrayed as a colorful celebration primarily of the Windrush generation who migrated to Britain after World War II from British territories in the Caribbean. However, the event is regularly tarnished by significant crime, resulting in the Metropolitan Police deciding this year not to release officers for annual leave during the carnival weekend and deploying thousands of officers to the area for an unprecedented police presence.

    The festival has also drawn criticism for its often sexual imagery in the presence of young children.

    In a statement on Tuesday, police revealed that “while the atmosphere throughout the weekend was largely positive, the latter stages of the event sadly saw a series of violent incidents.” These included eight stabbings and 275 arrests for offenses including the possession of offensive weapons, possession of drugs, and sexual assault. A 29-year-old man is in critical condition in the hospital, while a 19-year-old was also hospitalized and remains in serious but stable condition. A further six men aged 18, 19, 20, 25, 28, and 40 were also stabbed during the course of the carnival and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

    Footage circulated on social media showed a number of Black youths running down the street armed with machetes.

    “Regrettably, there were also further assaults on officers including sexual assaults and an officer who was bitten and was treated in hospital,” the police statement read. “Nobody disputes the significance of Carnival on London’s cultural calendar and the overwhelming majority of those who came will have had a positive experience. However, we cannot overlook the stabbings, sexual assaults, and attacks on police officers that we have seen,” said Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan, who oversaw the policing operation.
    “It is regrettable that for a second year in a row, Monday night at Carnival has been marred by serious violence,” he added.

    The carnival has become notorious for high levels of crime, and police were urged to be extra vigilant after 21-year-old father-to-be Takayo Nembhard was stabbed to death at the event last year. To date, no one has been charged with his murder. Last year, 74 police officers were assaulted, including one female officer who was sexually assaulted after becoming separated from her colleagues. A record number of knives were also seized following 441 stop and searches.”

    “For rapists and pedophiles, whether Italian or foreign, prison and chemical castration,” he added on X. “The League’s bill for the experimentation of chemical castration for rapists and pedophiles will soon be under discussion and I hope approved,” he said in response to the news that two 13-year-old children had been gang-raped by seven individuals, including six teenagers, in the town of Caivano last month. “What a horror… News we should never read. Our hearts go out to the two young girls,” he said. “No clemency for those who lay their hands on women and children.”

    According to Italian media, the victims were cousins and had been lured to an abandoned storage building at Parco Verde in the town by a group of males before being attacked. They reported the incident to the authorities, who conducted an investigation in August and were able to identify and arrest the adult suspect alleged to have been involved. It is understood that the girls have since been removed from their homes by social services and taken into care.

    The story shocked Italy and led to Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announcing on Monday that she would visit Caivano at the invitation of local parish priest Don Maurizio Patriciello. It is the latest in a string of high-profile cases and followed the gang rape of a 19-year-old woman by several young men in Palermo on July 6. The events have elicited a response from Italian lawmakers, particularly from the League, which has vowed to do what it can to clamp down on such attacks.

    Under Salvini’s plan, a judge could order the commencement of medical treatment for pedophiles and for rapists in the cases of repeat offenders. Chemical castration would also be offered to any sexual offender on a voluntary basis who wished to show the court they are willing to change and demonstrate remorse. Voluntary chemical castration is already available in 13 EU member states, but Poland is the only European country to introduce mandatory chemical castration for some rapists and pedophiles following the passing of legislation back in 2009.

    In the other countries, it is voluntary for repeat offenders who, in addition to serving the sentence for the serious crime committed, agree to be treated,” said Justice Secretary Andrea Ostellari, a member of the League. “Women’s safety, prevention of new crimes, and care for subjects who, declared dangerous by the judges, undergo a process: these must be the objectives when it comes to one of the most heinous and violent crimes,” he added.

    In addition, the League also wants to introduce new measures targeting young offenders, including a “yellow card” for children aged 12 and over that would see offenders summoned to the police station with their parents and warned. For those over the age of criminal responsibility, which in Italy is 14, tougher penalties would be imposed for offenders who refuse to carry out community work, and heavy fines would be levied on parents who are negligent in making sure their children are attending school.”
