Redheads!

I found an interesting article about redheads the other day and decided to bring some of their “facts” here to share.  You can find the article and all their “facts” at the link below.  (Several of their facts discuss how redheads are equated with witchcraft throughout the years.)

Approximately 1-2% of humans, or about two in 100 people in the world, have red hair.

The ancient Greeks believed that redheads would turn into vampires after they died.

Several myths about red hair have become culturally common, such as “the red-headed step child,” “the insatiable red hair girl-next door,” and “the wimpy redhead.”

In some cultures, such as certain parts of Africa, redheads are still believed to be witches.

Otherwise dark hair may turn red or blond in cases of severe protein deficiency due to starvation.

Red hair doesn’t gray as much as other hair colors. Red hair initially tends to turn blond and then white.

According to George Chapman’s 1613 play Bussy D’Ambois, the perfect poison must include the fat of a red-haired man.

Because natural red hair holds its pigment more than other colors, it is harder to dye.

Redheaded women report bruising more easily than other women of different hair colors.

People with red hair have twice the risk of developing Parkinson’s Disease.

Because redheads have thicker hair than people with other hair colors, they have fewer strands of hair. For example, while blondes have on average 140,000 hairs, redheads have approximately 90,000.

According to Hamburg sex researcher Dr. Werner Habermehl, women with red hair have more sex than women with other hair colors. He also postulates that women in a relationship who dye their hair red may be signaling that they are unhappy and looking for something better.

According to legend, the first redhead was Prince Idon of Mu who, upon discovering Atlantis, was imprinted with the island’s stunning red sunset and leaves in the form of red hair and freckles so future generations would be reminded of Atlantis’ first sunset.

Red hair is a recessive trait, which means that a child must inherit one red hair gene from each parent. Recessive traits often come in pairs, and redheads are more likely than other people to be left-handed.

Some scholars speculate that because Adam was from “red earth” and the Hebrew word for “red” is adom, that Adam was a redhead.

Scholars note that redheads have influenced history out of proportion to their numbers. Famous redheads include Roman emperor Nero, Helen of Troy, Cleopatra, the ancient god of love Aphrodite, Queen Elizabeth I, Napoleon Bonaparte, Oliver Cromwell, Emily Dickinson, Antonio Vivaldi, Thomas Jefferson, Vincent Van Gogh, Mark Twain, James Joyce, Winston Churchill, Malcolm X, Galileo, and King David.

The rarest hair color in humans is red.

In ancient Rome, redheaded slaves were often more expensive than those with other hair color.

Satan is often portrayed as a redhead most likely because red was viewed as the color of sexual desire and moral degradation.

In 1995, Professor Jonathan Reese discovered that mutations of the gene MC1R on chromosome 16 were responsible for red hair (known as the “ginger gene”). The gene mutation responsible for red hair in humans probably arose 20,000-40,000 years ago.

Some scholars postulate that the same gene mutation that causes red hair also affects the way redheads respond to pain and anesthetics.

Mark Twain once quipped that “while the rest of the human race are descended from monkeys, redheads derive from cats.”

In Egypt, redheads were buried alive as sacrifices to the god Osiris.

Scientists now report that Neanderthals had a version of the gene that causes red hair but not the same variant as in modern humans, suggesting they did not interbreed with each other.

There is a common perception that redheads could become extinct in 100 years. However, a National Geographic article states that while redheads may decline, barring a catastrophe, the gene for red hair will not likely become extinct.

While Scotland has the highest proportion (13%) of redheads (followed by Ireland with 10%), the United States has the largest population of redheads in the world, with between 6-18 million redheads, or 2-6% of the population.

The gene that causes red hair initially had the benefit of increasing the body’s ability to make vitamin D, which was important for people living farther away from the equator. However, today’s redheads are more likely to develop skin cancer and premature wrinkles.

“Gingerphobia” is a fear of redheads. “Gingerism” is the bullying or prejudice of redheads.

In Michelangelo’s Temptation and in St. Paul’s Cathedral, Eve is initially depicted as having brown and blond hair, respectively. But in both artistic renditions, after she eats the apple and she and Adam are driven from the Garden of Eden, Eve is depicted as a redhead.

Ruadh gu brath is Gaelic for “Red heads forever!”

Some common surnames in the British Isles reflect the frequency of red hair there, including Flanary (“red eyebrow”), Reid (“red-haired, ruddy complexion”), and Flynn (“bright red”).

  1. I love red hair! I think it’s GOD’s great gifts to humanity!

I have red heads galore in my family – on all sides and they are all high achievers – smart as all get out!

When I was young maiden, my ambition, when I got married. was to have red-headed twin boys. When I married, I married the son of a red head – who was a red haired twin son. When he was killed tragically seven weeks after we married, I married another son of a red headed father.

However, I never gave birth to a red headed baby, but my husband had a red-headed daughter and she had two gloriously red-haired children! And one of our grandchildren just married another red head this month!

    1. Morning, Pat! A cool 60 here this morning and quiet, some clouds that I expect will go away when the sun comes up. Pretty pink skies to the east! No sign of GT yet….I put my thinking cap on yesterday and re-configured/jimmy-rigged the WP feeder so it’s not as complicated and difficult to refill. The jelly feeder is being overrun with moths, bees, wasps, etc. – I replaced the pan with a new one and put fresh jelly out – this morning, it was full of moths again. SMH – hummers are hitting the nectar hard here, too, so I washed and re-filled 3 last evening. Ooops – add sugar to the list next time I go to the store….

OK, now THAT is some bull shyte, right there! There is NO fricking way they can know that!!! Anything with the word “science” attached? I distrust it ALL now!!! But, then, I have known they were FOS the whole time on this climate scam! Every single time I hear “carbon dating,” I expect BS – what if they were WRONG about carbon dating and “assumptions” were made??? After all, even gravity is a “theory!”

      1. Morning Filly!
the sun is trying to peek through the haze this morning and it’s not summertime haze.
just yesterday (and into today so far) we’ve started to have bees (I’m using that term generically cuz i get them confused) at the hummer feeders. the hummers are still swarming the feeders and driving them off for the most part…but the bees are resilient.
        any suggestions???
i agree about the Neanderthals–they were geniuses, right?

        1. No, I have the same problems, Pat! IDK of anything you can do about bees, wasps, moths, etc. A lot of the feeders have plugs that are supposed to block them but I can tell you first-hand: they do NOT work! Did a quick search, first link – I’m going to study this:

          1. thanks for this!
we have 4 feeders–the hummers and the bees are avoiding the ones on the side deck for some reason. all except 1 clever hummer who has them all to himself lol
i clean the feeders twice a day! since i am refiling them twice a day lately so they’re not sticky at all.
and this is relatively recent–as of yesterday. it has happened years prior–in a hot dry summer. but it’s been wet all summer this year.

It was a Fake Story put out by the government THUGS. Those tapes were openly handed over, without protest or litigation, and then the “Deranged One” makes me look as bad as possible. 6. no longer INNOCENT until proven guilty. let’s not even consider that he was found not guilty by the senate impeachment crap, but he’s not even CHARGED with insurrection anywhere. still dem states are considering trying to keep him off the ballot. it’s gonna get even uglier
    entire article
“Secretary of State David Scanlan, who will oversee the first-in-the-nation presidential primary in just five months, said he’s received several letters lately that urge him to take action based on a legal theory that claims the Constitution empowers him to block Trump from the ballot.

“Scanlan, a Republican, said he’s listening and will seek legal advice to ensure that his team thoroughly understands the arguments at play. …

“‘I have some in-house staff attorneys that are election experts,” he said. ‘I will be asking the attorney general’s office for their input. And ultimately whatever is decided is probably going to require some judicial input.’” …

“Here in New Hampshire, the GOP’s 2020 nominee for the first congressional district, attorney Bryant “Corky” Messner, said in a radio interview Monday that he read about the legal theory and is now thinking about suing to ensure that Scanlan enforces the Constitution against Trump.

“Scanlan said the former president — who faces four criminal indictments, including two that pertain to his attempts to subvert democracy after the 2020 election — is entitled to due process. And he said judges are better equipped than he currently is to determine whether the campaign that culminated in violence at the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, triggers the 14th Amendment.

“’I view the violence as being a really unfortunate event in our history,” he said. “I don’t know that I’m really qualified to say whether that was an ‘insurrection’ or not. I think that is for the courts to decide’.”

  7. from my state (i apologize…we are dem led)…in state tuition fees for illegals in PA…if you immigrated legally…you pay $40,000 a year. we are doomed
    entire article
It is a timeless aphorism: “Under the left, it pays to be a criminal.” It was true of the Nazi Party’s Brownshirts, it was true of the Bolshevik revolutionaries, and it’s true of America’s illegal alien population under the modern Democrats.

Per a Campus Reform article out Wednesday:

Amidst a budget crisis, Pennsylvania State University offers in-state tuition rates to qualifying illegal immigrants while American citizens across the country are charged out-of-state tuition.

For reference, in-state tuition is roughly half of the out-of-state price tag ($19,284 compared to $38,651). Furthermore:

… foreign students who legally immigrated to the United States to study at Penn State paid more than even out-of-state students, as tuition and fees amounted to $40,151.

Alright, so let me get this straight. If you’re an out-of-stater looking to attend Penn State, your residency status doesn’t matter, just as long as you’re not an American citizen, or a legal immigrant who respects the rule of law. However, if you’re a migrant whose first act upon entering the country was to commit a felony, then you’re in luck!

    Sounds about right for Democrats.

Let’s give credit where credit is due — for a group that’s usually marred by wholesale inconsistency, they can be remarkably consistent. I mean, their “no uterus, no opinion” but men can also be women because anatomy doesn’t determine “gender”? “In this house we believe … kindness is everything” unless you’re a “MAGAt”? Tolerance, diversity, and multiculturalism are virtues but it’s fine to abuse Christian conservatives? But…. When it comes to their hatred for America and their love of lawlessness, they’re supremely consistent.

Ronald Reagan laid the foundation for the absolute trainwreck invasion by which we now find ourselves victimized, and we are paying, literally and figuratively.

In 1776, Thomas Paine wrote the first American Crisis pamphlet, which included this line, “What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: It is dearness only that gives every thing its value.”

Everything is “cheap” to the migrants pouring into our communities: from “citizenship” to college. How could they ever understand what those things really cost?

  11. Well, GT showed up. I heard the bitch squirrel scolding in the cottonwood tree so I looked outside and he was sitting out on the walkway, where he could see the inside door, watching for me. He will occasionally jump up on the outside of the door but he is very tentative about it – more and more, I get the feeling he has been chased off and frightened by someone. I grabbed the dish and opened the door, then pushed it open further so he could see into the patio – he was very interested and craned his neck to look, but then he caught a glimpse of Jake coming outside and skittered away. So I put his food down and left him to it.

  12. Well, I looked over the article about keeping bees/wasps away from the feeders – just as I thought. I have the honeysuckle vines all around the jelly and nectar feeders – doesn’t stop them no matter where you hang them. 3 of my feeders have ant moats on the top that have to be kept filled – that does work for the ants and spiders, at least. As for cleaning/changing them every other day – well, that’s nonsense! But you do need to add bleach to the soapy water when you wash them to eliminate any mold. Depending on how hot it gets, I usually do them about once a week.

“Who controls the food supply controls the people” — Attributed to Henry Kissinger (disputed)

EXCERPT: “As we head into the weekend of August 26, 2023, I turn back to one of the key themes of this substack- the family farm. We previously published an essay titled “The Harvest of Deception” by Texas Slim, which provides an introductory overview of current trends in American (and western) food agriculture. Here is a quote from that essay which gets to the heart of the matter:

‘The world’s food supply is controlled by just a handful of companies, and the concentration of power in the food industry has increased over time. In the United States, less than 1% of the population is employed in agriculture, and most of the food sold in the country is controlled by a few large corporations.

The food cartel exercises a significant degree of control over domestic agricultural economies, especially in the processing industries. This includes the milling and packing/slaughtering industries, which are controlled by a few large companies. For example, in the case of grains and soybeans, the top four millers controlled 41% of the industry in 1979, and they now control 92%. In addition, four of the six leading grain cartel companies own 64% of America’s grain elevator storage capacity, which means that farmers must sell their grain to these companies, and these firms collude to set the price to the farmer at the lowest possible level.

The food cartel’s power must be broken, as they control the supply of raw materials, and above all, food. The food cartel apparently seeks to turn back the clock of history, and reduce mankind from the 7 billion population it currently enjoys to the state of a few hundred million semi-literate souls scratching out a bare existence. The full truth about the food cartel must be known, and the extreme globalization of the food chain must be eliminated. Nations have been forced into dependence on food from hundreds and thousands of miles away, and this is not sustainable in the long term.

In conclusion, the food industry’s concentration of power has led to a lack of transparency and control over the world’s food supply. The top seed companies account for two-thirds of the global proprietary seed market, and the top three seed companies control 65% of the proprietary maize (corn) seed market worldwide, and over half of the proprietary soybean seed market. The food cartel exercises significant control over the domestic agricultural economies of nations, and the extreme globalization of the food chain must be eliminated to ensure food security in the long term.’

I often argue that the death warrant for small town America (and the decentralized family farms which supported it) was signed by Earl Butz, Secretary of Agriculture under the Nixon and Ford Administrations.

In theory , his mission as Secretary of Ag was to assist small farmers. However he wrote them off with a flip remark which has become infamous.

“Get big or get out!” — Earl Butz, 1909-2008, U. S. Secretary of Agriculture (Republican), Mantra to Small Farmers, early 1970s

To provide some sense of the man, Mr. Butz’ political career abruptly ended when John Dean (yes, that John Dean) reported the following exchange in an article published in the issue of Rolling Stone dated October 7, 1976:…..”

    1. I will never forget a Blacklist episode where a global seed company secretly PAID a scientist to develop a bug that would infect and make unusable seeds around the world–since the world was basically using the same seed (corn i think). anyway the reason they did this–it infected their own seed crop as well– was because they developed a new seed resistant to that bug and since they were the only ones who had it, they would be the savior of the world. they had warehouses full of the new seed ready to go before the infection/pest spread and were positioned to become megabillionaires…

Should work well and now it is much easier to see where the melons are/will be! Yeah! I started out in slipper socks in my sandals, sweat pants, and a t-shirt covered by a short-sleeve sweatshirt. Yep…ended up dripping sweat and sans the sweatshirt by the time I was done! Up to 78 now, with an occasional gusty wind and puffy clouds. Beautiful if you’re not working in the sun….
