Thrift Store Makeovers

I love make overs—this time thrift store makeovers.  These transformations are relatively easy and quick to do! Try yard sales or thrift stores—go hunting for what could be instead of what’s there!

Take old lamp shades-remove the shade part-if necessary, paint the metal frames—hang upside down as planters!

Spray paint an old cookie sheet—use contact paper for the flat bottom and turn it into a magnetic memo board!

Turn any old picture into a chalk board with chalk board paint!

Glue a pie pan to a candle holder and it becomes…a candle holder…LOL

Turn an old diskette holder into a mini greenhouse!

    1. Morning, Pat! Clear here this morning – supposed to stay in the lower 80’s today (we’ll see if that pans out!) with a chemtrail in the east. Thankfully, I don’t see many of those here. Weather last night said the REALLY hot temps start on Saturday, with heat index up to 110! Gonna be cooking here soon! Still haven’t been able to get ahold of Jerry about my mower – will try again today. Refilled the jelly feeder this morning again – still seeing a few Orioles but mostly finches – with a female hummer hovering around the honeysuckle and nectar feeder.

Lamp shades!! Now why didn’t I think of that??? That’s exactly like something I would do!!! I’ve got plenty of chain that I bought this spring to rig my hanging baskets. Speaking of which, those pics I mentioned….

It had dark red lava rock, with an old rotting wood fence in the beds when I bought it and nothing up next to the house – I always knew I would plant Lily of the Valley – my grandma had it and I loved it then.

    1. I have to disagree with Dinesh…yes, some Republicans did own slaves but most didn’t treat them like slaves. In many cases, they were treated well and were considered to be part of the family. But, then, Dinesh tends to whitewash things and still thinks slavery was the primary reason we went to war in the first place. It was not!

    FTA
Teachers and other education workers typically participate in defined benefit 403(b) pension plans. In this arrangement, while pensions are funded to some extent by the workers themselves, the bulk of the payment is supplied by the school district – therefore the taxpayer – and the local and state government – i.e., the taxpayer. The teacher, upon retiring, receives a fixed monthly amount for life, no matter how much he or she has actually contributed to the plan.

    1. I can tell you first-hand – it was NOT that way when my a-Mom was teaching!!! Unions….AGAIN! I spit on unions!!! That’s another major difference between my 2 families – birth: against unions; adopted: for unions. The difference between the so-called “elites” and the “others” from the “south side of the tracks.”

      1. i think i said this before. my daughter makes out like a bandit as a teacher. she gets annual pay raises. she gets a raise every time she completes so many credits towards another degree AND when she gets that higher degree–all classes PAID for by the taxpayer. PLUS they are ON LINE classes. so she could get 3 raises in a single year.
her health insurance is PAID for for the entire family–including dental and eye. they have a $100 YEARLY deductible for the entire family. she also gets special discounts (like at Joanns just for being a teacher)
granted she puts up with a lot with the influx of illegals in her area but she has a sweet deal.

        1. Oh, it’s nothing like what it was when my a-Mom was teaching, while also attending college p/t to get her degree. That was long before the union. She used to put in her own money for extra supplies for the kiddos (1-2 grade) that the school wouldn’t provide, not to mention the extra at-home work she did. Mid-August every year, we would make the drive to Omaha to the Crossroads Mall to get her supplies for the year. That was also when we got any school clothes I might need and we always went to dinner at a nice place, just the 3 of us. It was a trip we both looked forward to. She also paid her own way thru college.

So if Trump and 18 co-conspirators have been indicted for a “vast conspiracy to subvert our Democracy” then what do you call the secret “Shadow Campaign” exposed by Molly Ball in Time Magazine?

    TIME Feb 4, 2021:

“There was a *conspiracy* unfolding behind the scenes, one that both curtailed the protests and coordinated the resistance from CEOs. Both surprises were the result of an informal alliance between left-wing activists and business titans. The pact was formalized in a terse, little-noticed joint statement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and AFL-CIO published on Election Day. Both sides would come to see it as a sort of implicit bargain–inspired by the summer’s massive, sometimes destructive racial-justice protests–in which the forces of labor came together with the forces of capital to keep the peace and oppose Trump’s assault on democracy.”

“Their work touched every aspect of the election. They got states to change voting systems and laws and helped secure hundreds of millions in public and private funding. They fended off voter-suppression lawsuits, recruited armies of poll workers and got millions of people to vote by mail for the first time. They successfully pressured social media companies to take a harder line against disinformation and used data-driven strategies to fight viral smears.”

Seems to me there was a conspiracy involving hundreds of leftwing activists who had previously, in the summer of 2020, unleashed mobs of violent rioters onto the streets of America.

Using the same theory put forward in the Georgia case, will these co-conspirators be investigated?

    Of course not.

Committee Chairman Jason Smith sent a memo to committee members this week – obtained by Just the News – saying his team has gathered evidence suggested possible abuses of tax-exempt groups by Democrats, including mis-expenditures of tax-exempt funds and use of foreign money.

“The Committee has learned that a Super Political Action Committee (PAC) recommended donations to 501(c)(3) organizations as ‘the single most effective tactic for ensuring Democratic victories’ and that large donations from a wealthy donor to state election offices in 2020 may have been done in a manner that helps one political party over another,” Smith wrote. “Additionally, the Committee has also found that significant amounts of foreign money is flowing through 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations to influence elections.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s regional army chiefs have been purchasing premium high-end cars and opulent properties while their troops die in the front lines of the Russia-Ukraine war.

This bombshell information came from a former advisor to the Ukrainian Parliament. Meanwhile, according to the current Advisor to the Member of Parliament Mykola Volkivskyi, Zelensky has already launched a blanket firing of Kyiv’s regional military recruitment chiefs on August 11.

The allegations were confirmed by a review of the recruitment centers, revealing authority abuses including illegal enrichment to help eligible military-age men flee the country to avoid military service and allowing people to avoid the military draft on medical grounds. A lot of Ukrainian men would rather escape the war and it was hard for them to leave because men aged 18 to 60 have been banned from leaving the country ever since martial law was introduced in February 2022. Exemptions exist for medical reasons, studying abroad, being a single father, having more than three children, or caring for a disabled person.

The state of Maine has become a breeding ground for Chinese illegal marijuana grows worth billions of dollars, according to a federal memo obtained exclusively by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
There are 270 suspected Chinese illegal marijuana grow operations in Maine worth an estimated $4.37 billion, according to the memo.
“There are hundreds of these operations occurring throughout the state. It’s upsetting to those who live near these operations, and even those who are following Maine laws and procedures,” Penobscot County Sheriff Troy Morton told the DCNF.

Lucrative Chinese illegal marijuana grow operations are popping up all over Maine, according to a federal memorandum distributed within Border Patrol that was obtained exclusively by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Law enforcement in Maine identified 270 suspected properties used for Chinese illegal marijuana grow operations that could produce an estimated $4.37 billion in revenue, the July memo states. Chinese nationals who either have resident status in the U.S. or asylum claims that prevent them from being removed from the country tend to operate such grows, a federal law enforcement source, who requested anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly, told the DCNF.

“We think the Chinese are taking advantage of rural areas, like Maine, to produce marijuana to sell across state lines and funnel the profits back to China,” the federal law enforcement source said.

The memo included a heat map showing that large areas of Maine are occupied by Chinese illegal marijuana grows, generating profits that are sent to China.

Voters chose to legalize marijuana in Maine in 2016, while medical marijuana use has been legal since 1999 and was decriminalized in 1976. The sale of recreational marijuana became legal in 2020.

“There’s no deterrence,” former head of the DEA’s Special Operations Division Derek Maltz told the DCNF. “Criminals are masters at taking advantage of the vulnerabilities.”

Meanwhile, Maine allows residents that are at least 21 years of age to grow as many as three mature plants and 12 immature plants for personal use, according to the state’s Office of Cannabis Policy.

Authorities in Bangor, Maine, recently busted an illegal grow operation with 3,400 individual marijuana plants as well as 111 pounds of processed marijuana, according to WABI 5, a local news outlet.

“There are hundreds of these operations occurring throughout the state. It’s upsetting to those who live near these operations, and even those who are following Maine laws and procedures,” Penobscot County Sheriff Troy Morton, whose office was involved in the bust, told the DCNF.

There are roughly 749 properties associated with individuals tied to operations in Maine and the state of Washington, according to the memo.

When Chinese criminal organizations are involved, there is often collaboration with Mexican cartels, Maltz said.

“They take the cash from the cartels in America, and they buy these properties and they do these investments with cash from the Mexican cartels in our own country. This is part of their laundering scheme,” Maltz said.

“So, not only are they providing this unbelievably important service to the Mexican cartels by picking up the cash and doing the money transfers over the banking apps and stuff like that, but they’re using the cash in America to buy land, to buy real estate, to buy property to invest in these grow operations,” Maltz added, noting that the operations are extremely profitable as they trade in an untaxed product.

The massive amounts of profits made from the illegal grows are often used for more crimes or go straight to China, according to the memo.

“According to the National Drug Threat Assessment (circa 2020)- profits associated with 100 cultivated plants could produce $5.4 Million; therefore if one property produces three cycles a year at 100 plants, that one property could make $16.2 Million in revenue where the funds are likely used for other criminal activities or are sent to China,” the memo states.

Most individuals under investigation for being involved in illegal marijuana grows aren’t U.S. citizens, according to Morton.

“Regardless of where the individuals are from, the true problem involves conflicting state and federal laws. We also have little to no oversight, allowing for criminal activity to occur at a high degree,” Morton said.

Smugglers utilize Interstate 95 to transport contraband related from the grows, according to the memo.

“Based on location of the properties, it is assessed that I-95 is the main transport route for bulk cash, illegal narcotics, illegal aliens as this is the most desirable route throughout the state of Maine. I-95 begins in Miami, Florida, and ends near New Brunswick. This route enables smugglers through the many connecting routes which may allow access to many adjoining states,” the memo stated.

  12. https://www.zerohedge.com/political/mark-meadows-wants-move-georgia-indictment-federal-court-and-legal-experts-say-hell
EXCERPT: “Former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows has asked to move charges against him to federal court, after he was charged this week in Georgia alongside the former president and 17 other individuals. Mr. Meadows is entitled to remove this action to federal court because the charges against him plausibly give rise to a federal defense based on his role at all relevant times as the White House Chief of Staff to the President of the United States,” said attorney Timothy Parlatore in a Tuesday filing.

Meadows was charged by a grand jury on Monday with violating the state’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. “Mr. Meadows has the right to remove this matter. The conduct giving rise to the charges in the indictment all occurred during his tenure and as part of his service as Chief of Staff,” his lawyers wrote.

Trump was also charged with “unlawfully soliciting, requesting, and importuning” Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger by asking him to ‘find’ votes for him – a comment construed by the left to suggest Trump was asking him to break the law, however Trump’s attorneys will likely argue that the former president, in context, was referring to the general ballot-counting malarkey and other oddities surrounding the 2020 US election (covering up windows, kicking out observers, overnight ballot drops, major cities stopping their counts at 9pm for the first time in anyone’s lifetime, broken water pipe, suitcases under desk, that chart showing the overnight jump, etc.).” — ZeroHedge

Our Take: “You’re likely going to see a lot of similar/mirrored takes coming out of the Badlands team, especially Jon Herold and Just Human during Power Hour sessions when it comes to the confluence of indictments and lawfare deployments emanating from the Trump Witch Hunt.

That said, it’s important to try to view admittedly-frustrating headlines coming out of the Trump Trial orbit through the possible lens of both Devolution and the Disclosure Defense theory, which posits that Trump is using these legal campaigns not only as a means of exposure and disclosure, introducing evidence legally (which itself maps onto some pretty famous drops,) but also as the core of his 2024 campaign itself.

Will Meadows be successful in moving his Georgia indictment to a Federal Court? Time will tell. But the fact that he WANTS to is a tantalizing hint as to where all roads in the Trump RICO case could be heading down the line.

Hey … what’s the Supreme Court up to, these days?” — Burning Bright

“On the second anniversary of the conquest of Kabul, we would like to congratulate the mujahid [holy warrior] nation of Afghanistan and ask them to thank Almighty Allah for this great victory,” the spokesman for the Taliban, Zabihullah Mujahid, said in a statement on Tuesday. “Now that overall security is ensured in the country, the entire territory of the country is managed under a single leadership, an Islamic system is in place and everything is explained from the angle of Sharia [Islamic law],” Mujahid said.
    —————
The Taliban government is still not formally recognised by any country. The international community continues to grapple with how, and if, to engage with the Taliban authorities.

After a lightning offensive as US-led foreign forces were withdrawing after 20 years of inconclusive war, the Taliban entered the capital on August 15, 2021, as the US-backed president, Ashraf Ghani, fled and the Afghan security forces, set up with years of Western support, disintegrated.

Afghanistan is enjoying peace not seen in decades, but the United Nations says there have been dozens of attacks on civilians, some claimed by the ISIL (ISIS) armed group. The Taliban, which says it respects rights in line with its interpretation of Islamic law, has also stopped most Afghan female staff from working with aid agencies, closed beauty salons, barred women from parks and curtailed their travel in the absence of any male guardian…..”

“Very British Deception: Iran Coup’s Hidden History”
    KIT KLARENBERG
    AUG 17, 2023

EXCERPT: “Over four days from August 15th, the 60th anniversary of the CIA and MI6 coup that overthrew Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadeq was marked. Working in tandem, British and American spies waged a devastatingly effective covert campaign using saboteurs, staged protests, false flag bombings, assassinations, and much more besides, which ultimately ushered in two-and-a-half decades of brutal, dictatorial rule by Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

By this point, the coup’s history is fairly well-known, not least because the CIA has openly admitted responsibility for the mass violence and upheaval that unseated Mossadeq on that fateful day. Many documents outlining its cloak-and-dagger activities during this period are in the public domain. Conversely, Britain has never acknowledged the central role of MI6 in the connivance, and remains largely unknown. Now, the sordid tale – or, what can be pieced together from an incomplete, thoroughly weeded archival record – must be told.

‘Stolen Property’ — In May 1951, Iran’s parliament almost unanimously backed Mossadeq’s proposal to nationalize Britain’s Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (AIOC), and expropriate its assets. The move was almost universally popular, instantly making the Prime Minister a hero, nationally and beyond. Many believed that London’s dominance and exploitation of West Asia was finally over, and for the first time in centuries, they would take charge of their own affairs, and profit from their country’s vast oil wealth.

It was precisely these hopes that meant from Britain’s perspective, Mossadeq’s radical anti-imperial program could not come to pass. Through the AIOC, Iran’s resources were exploited, and population impoverished. Under a deal struck in 1901 and set to last until 1993, London garnered over 80% of the Company’s profits. Moreover, AIOC workers and their families toiled and lived in horrific conditions, the firm’s British chiefs in staggering opulence.
    —————–
Around this time, parliamentary elections were due to be held in Iran. Mossadeq suspected Britain intended to somehow corrupt proceedings and destabilize the country, so postponed the election, then resigned. London lobbied Shah Pahlavi to replace him with pro-British Ahmad Qavam. The plot failed when mass pro-Mossadeq protests immediately erupted, and within a week the Prime Minister was reinstated. A Foreign Office internal memo bitterly lamented: “The wheels of Islam need more lubricating than those of other faiths.”

Emboldened by victory, and having reached the end of his tether over nationalization, Mossadeq broke off diplomatic relations with London outright, expelling its Embassy staff and all known MI6 officers operating his country. Wounded, British intelligence scrapped its coup plans. Still, the regime change coast was far from clear in Tehran, as the Prime Minister – and Iranian people he served – would soon find out.
    ——————
Fast forward a year though, and London’s determined efforts to batter down US support for Mossadeq were beginning to bear fruit. In November 1952, an official from the British embassy in Washington formally recommended a coup to remove the Prime Minister, to the CIA and State Department. The Americans were led to believe MI6 had a well-developed plan involving its own agents in Iran, which was certain of success. All they needed to do was give the green light.

The CIA was amenable, yet State balked, arguing there was scope for failure, and Western sponsorship to be exposed. Nonetheless, an influential seed had been planted, and when Dwight. D Eisenhower became President in January the next year, an old friend of the British – in particular Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Foreign Minister Antony Eden – was safely ensconced in the Oval Office.

Offered a significant cut of AIOC’s profits in return for US backing, Eisenhower signed off on a joint CIA/MI6 plan to get Mossadeq. From there on out, the two agencies worked overtime to at last create the revolution-ripe atmosphere in Tehran sought by the British two years earlier. Once the pesky Prime Minister was finally ousted, Shah Pahlavi would reign supreme, and dutifully do the bidding of his patrons in London and Washington. Or so they hoped.

  16. “Maui fire survivors describe nighttime looting and rerouted supply drops as they say local leadership botches emergency response”
    Katherine Tangalakis-Lippert and Charles R. Davis Aug 14, 2023, 3:34 PM CDT

EXCERPT: “”There’s some police presence. There’s some small military presence, but at night, people are being robbed at gunpoint,” Matt Robb, a co-owner of a Lāhainā bar called The Dirty Monkey, told Insider. “People are raped and pillaged. I mean, they’re going through houses — and then by day, it’s hunky-dory. So where is the support? I don’t think our government and our leaders, at this point, know how to handle this or what to do.”

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported a riot nearly broke out between police and about 100 residents after officers closed off access to a highway leading to Lāhainā, one of the hardest-hit areas on the island, preventing people from returning home to gather items that could be salvaged.

Members of the staff of The Dirty Monkey said they had been coordinating with local authorities and community members, organizing and trying to direct supply drops and shipments of essential medications such as insulin to families in need. But as a small crew with no formal training in handling emergency response, Robb and Alen Aivazian, another co-owner, said they were left feeling like they’d been abandoned by local leadership, who they said had not communicated effectively with community members about what’s going on or how the response was being handled.

“It’s just been really interesting to see how when you have a full truck of a pallet of water or feminine products or whatever, and you’re trying to help people, that you’re being turned away,” Robb said. “And I think there’s a better way to organize that to be done. I just don’t think it’s been done the correct way. I think it comes down to the lack of leadership and the lack of knowledge of how to handle this.”

Representatives for the Maui Police Department and the office of Mayor Richard Bissen of Maui County did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Aivazian and Robb told Insider they believed the mayor, who has offered limited public comments regarding the tragedy, had floundered in response to the emergency.

“I think it’s the mayor’s fault,” Aivazian said. “If he would’ve asked, they had Marines, Coast Guards sitting there waiting, ready to go, and he didn’t send them over. Why wouldn’t the feds send them over? The mayor didn’t ask and the governor didn’t push. I mean, what the hell are they doing over there? They’re just hanging out at the beach.” Robb added: “A lot of blood was shed because of the way the streets were closed by the police department.”

Kami Irwin, a Maui resident helping to coordinate relief efforts at the Maui Brewing Co. location in Kihei, told Insider that locals were working around the clock, forgoing sleep and creating neighborhood patrols to help keep each other safe and find essentials such as clean drinking water and medications.

“I had to deal with a situation that wasn’t even part of who I am or what I do,” Irwin said. “I had to talk to pilots that got grounded with our medical supplies who were stuck on the Big Island because the Department of Health stopped them from transporting insulin. And we have people all over the island that need insulin.”

  17. This looks like fun!!!

“Politics lately has been disheartening and frustrating. From our two tiered justice system to watching Hawaiians suffer with very little assistance, there isn’t much to feel positive about in regards to how citizens are treated in our country. America needs a laugh and some tongue in cheek humor, and this new Twitter account, @Trump_History45 is providing just that. The account uses AI to create scenes of Trump throughout history, a bit like Forrest Gump in the movie.”

Just saw this on Citizens Free Press; 40,000 signed affidavits to Kemp over the 2020 election steal in Georgia and he did nothing about it!

I stood in Brian Kemp’s office as his staff was served with thousands of sworn affidavits alleging election crimes in GA.

His staffers laughed at the individuals serving him—while they watched CNN.

He’s never taken election fraud seriously.

He’s apart of the problem. https://t.co/NksPLBiGsp

  20. NYers suing EcoHealth and daszak over cv.

Family members of people who died from COVID-19 have sued a New York-based nonprofit organization that collaborated with and helped fund the Chinese laboratory that was exploring how to make coronaviruses more transmissible and infectious.

The suit names EcoHealth Alliance and Peter Daszak, its president, as defendants, alleging they researched, funded, and created the COVID-19 virus and released it intentionally or accidentally.

Jenny Golden and other U.S. residents brought the lawsuit in New York over the deaths of their loved ones, which they say could have been prevented.

The defendants engaged in conduct that presented foreseeable risks of harm to others, including “deliberately engaging in the creation and genetic modification of dangerous coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV-2, for the purpose of enhancing their virulence, transmissibility and lethality for human beings, knowing that as modified the coronaviruses would be even more harmful to humans and capable of causing a pandemic,” the suit states.

    snip

The case was filed in New York Supreme Court.

The plaintiffs want damages awarded to them, as well as other monetary relief that is deemed enough to “prevent Defendants and others from ever again committing the dangerous acts related to the development and release of SARS-CoV-2 or similar acts.”

  21. “YouTube releases new medical misinformation policies–The company’s stated goal “is to ensure that when it comes to areas of well-studied scientific consensus, YouTube is not a platform for distributing information that could harm people.”
    FLCCC ALLIANCE
    AUG 17, 2023

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “YouTube recently outlined its long-term vision for addressing medical misinformation on its platform. The company says it has learned from recent efforts to combat misinformation related to health topics and has now aimed to simplify its approach for creators, viewers, and partners to “preserve the important balance of removing egregiously harmful content while ensuring space for debate and discussion.”

They’ve identified three categories to streamline their guidelines: Prevention, Treatment, and Denial. Basically, the policies apply to any health condition, treatment, or substance “where content contradicts local health authorities or the World Health Organization (WHO).” They describe the framework as follows:

‘Prevention misinformation: We will remove content that contradicts health authority guidance on the prevention and transmission of specific health conditions, and on the safety and efficacy of approved vaccines. For example, this encompasses content that promotes a harmful substance for disease prevention.

Treatment misinformation: We will remove content that contradicts health authority guidance on treatments for specific health conditions, including promoting specific harmful substances or practices. Examples include content that encourages unproven remedies in place of seeking medical attention for specific conditions, like promoting caesium chloride as a treatment for cancer.

Denial misinformation: We will remove content that disputes the existence of specific health conditions. This covers content that denies people have died from COVID-19.’

Interestingly, the article highlights that YouTube has decided to target cancer treatment misinformation first because, “the public health risk is high as cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, there is stable consensus about safe cancer treatments from local and global health authorities, and it’s a topic that’s prone to misinformation.”

Harmful or ineffective cancer treatment content will be removed, they say, along with content discouraging viewers from seeking proper medical care. In place of a free catalog of user-generated content, YouTube will provide curated “playlists of engaging, informative cancer-related videos from a range of authoritative sources.”

It remains to be seen what effect this new policy might have on general discussions of medical topics other than cancer or on content related to novel research and treatment options for other disease states that have yet to be endorsed by WHO and other authorities.”

Court Rules That D.C. Selectively Enforced Law Against Pro-Lifers, But Not BLM.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ruled that city officials engaged in “selective enforcement of its defacement ordinance” when it arrested two pro-life activists for chalking public sidewalks while turning a blind-eye to the defacement of public property by Black Lives Matter (BLM) rioters – reversing an earlier district court ruling. The court stated in its opinion that:

In the summer of 2020, thousands of protesters flooded the streets of the District to proclaim “Black Lives Matter.” Over several weeks, the protesters covered streets, sidewalks, and storefronts with paint and chalk. The markings were ubiquitous and in open violation of the District’s defacement ordinance, yet none of the protesters were arrested. During the same summer, District police officers arrested two pro-life advocates in a smaller protest for chalking “Black Pre-Born Lives Matter” on a public sidewalk.

The two pro-life activists who were arrested were in D.C. participating in a protest organized by The Frederick Douglass Foundation and Students for Life of America. After the arrests, the two organizations filed a lawsuit against the city alleging that the unequal enforcement of the city ordinance was viewpoint discrimination and violated the First Amendment rights of the two arrested protestors.

The opinion of the court, authored by Judge Neomi Rao, held that:

The First Amendment prohibits discrimination on the basis of viewpoint irrespective of the government’s motive. We hold the Foundation has plausibly alleged the District discriminated on the basis of viewpoint in the selective enforcement of its defacement ordinance.

Judge Rao went on to note the multitude of incidents where D.C. public property had been defaced by BLM rioters, yet the city had made no arrests in any of these incidents. The Washington, D.C. BLM riots that took place in the summer of 2020 cost the city an estimated $14.5 million.

FIRST ON FOX — Top Republicans on Capitol Hill are vowing a crackdown on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for allegedly destroying documents related to a congressional probe.

“By deleting documents, the FTC likely violated federal law. It also impeded Congressional oversight of the FTC’s recent, unprecedented actions, including its proposed rule banning non-compete clauses,” Sen. Ted Cruz, a Texas Republican and ranking member on the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, wrote in a letter to FTC Chair Lina Khan, which was dated for Thursday and shown to Fox News Digital ahead of its release.

“Congress and the public deserve an explanation of why the FTC improperly destroyed records, what records it improperly destroyed, and what steps will be taken to ensure it never happens again,” Cruz wrote, joined by Rep. Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican and chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, and Rep. James Comer, a Kentucky Republican and the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability.

The letter by Republican legislators comes about a year and a half after the FTC’s in-house watchdog, the Office of Inspector General (OIG), found multiple failure’s in the FTC’s record-keeping process.

    1. Oh, I think we know…..I spent the last hour trying to get the rest of my peaches off the tree. And I got ‘er done! Pulled my truck up next to the tree and put the ladder in the bed – with the reach from my tiller, I was able to pull the branches down within reach. I picked even more today that a few days ago! Peaches on top of peaches! Yum!!!!

        1. IKR? And I’m always shaky on ladders – I had to pull on that branch so hard, I was afraid I’d pull the whole danged ladder over, except that it was up against the side of the truck bed. A couple of them I just had to pull them off to fall on the ground – they get bruised up a little that way but not too bad. Several were already being eaten up by ants so they all had to be picked now. Not as many as last year but a lot more than I expected. Since I had so many, I called Lois to see if she had gotten her CO peaches yet. She had but they are still green so I took a grocery bag full to her and fixed her sunflower plant branches so she can get past it on the ramp with her walker.
