Alabama

Worst: High infant mortality — The state definitely isn’t scoring any points when it comes to health care for pregnant women and infants. Alabama has the highest infant mortality rate, with 9.1 infant deaths out of every 1,000 live births.

Alaska

Worst: Suicide rate — But despite the proven benefits of being in nature, the state has the highest rate of suicides, which sadly continues to increase year after year.

Arizona

Worst: Teacher turnover — The forecast for the state’s schools is much gloomier. Arizona has frequently been named the worst state for teachers thanks to high turnover and teacher-to-student ratios.

Arkansas

Worst: Divorce — Residents of the Natural State may want to start prioritizing their marriages over mallards, though. Arkansas has the highest divorce rate in the United States of 23.4 divorces per 1,000 people.

California

Worst: Quality of life — However, it was also accused of having the worst quality of life based on a variety of social and environmental factors including sense of community and air pollution. Maybe that’s why in recent years, more people have been leaving California than moving there…

Colorado

Worst: Drug overdoses — But there’s a dark side to the sun-soaked state so beloved by outdoor enthusiasts—it has the highest rate of deaths from drug overdose. It’s a rate that has even doubled in some counties over the last decade due primarily to painkillers like Percocet and Oxycontin.

Connecticut

Worst: Public roads — Over half of the state’s 21,512 miles of public roads are in poor condition.

Delaware

Worst: Partying — First is the worst—at nightlife, that is. The first state was ranked 50 out of 50 for its lack of bustling bar scene.

Florida

Worst: Treating HIV/AIDS — But with a slew of tourists and partygoers, comes something much more dangerous—drugs shared by infected needles. Hence why Florida (Miami in particular) is dealing with the highest rates of HIV diagnoses.

Georgia

Worst: Flu prevention — Georgians should be using some of those onions in one of these natural flu remedies. After all, Atlanta experienced some of the most severe levels of influenza in the United States this past winter.

Hawaii

Worst: Sleeping — Hawaiian adults must be spending all their time on the beach instead of in bed, though—43.9 percent of Hawaiian adults get less than seven hours of sleep per night on average.

Idaho

Worst: Cyberbullying — The state was also voted the worst for bullying, particularly for kids online and on social media.

Illinois

Worst: Bug bites — Just make sure you spray a lot of insect repellant on before you head out to the pumpkin patch. The Midwestern state has some of the highest rates of mosquito-related illnesses (including West Nile virus) and tick-borne diseases like Lyme’s.

Indiana

Worst: Pollution — As long as you don’t breathe too deeply in your new place, you’ll be fine. After all, the 40 million pounds of toxic fumes generated by Indiana’s coal plants make it the most polluted of the 50 states.

Iowa

Worst: Building bridges — Just be careful when you’re driving to go look at houses in Des Moines. Iowa was ranked the worst state for its bridges, 5,000 of which have been deemed “structurally deficient” by the American Road & Transportation Builders Association.

Kansas

Worst: Human trafficking — The Midwestern state isn’t all smooth sailing, though. It’s also the state where human sex trafficking has skyrocketed to new levels in recent years.

Kentucky

Worst: Lung cancer rates — The state has the highest rate of lung cancer diagnoses, a disease that has only a 56 percent five-year chance of survival.

Louisiana

Worst: Stress — To be honest, that probably explains why Louisianians are also the most stressed in the country (dating is hard!). Not to mention the high levels of poverty, crime, and the number of hours worked per week… phew.

Maine

Worst: Lyme’s disease — But dogs bring more than just cuddles and companionship. They can also carry ticks in from the outdoors, which could be why Maine has the highest rate of Lyme’s disease.

Maryland

Worst: Bed bugs — With all that money, wealthy Marylanders might be sleeping tight, but they probably are letting the bed bugs bite, too. For the second year in a row, Baltimore topped the list of cities with the most bed bug infestations.

Massachusetts

Worst: Traffic — And those therapists are probably in high demand given that Boston has the worst traffic in the United States. Its drivers spend 14 percent of their drive time sitting bumper-to-bumper.

Michigan

Worst: Identity theft —But make sure you lock up your valuables during tee time. The state is the worst for identity theft. With over 15,000 reported cases last year (the majority related to government documents or benefits), it’s clearly much bigger than a stolen wallet.

Minnesota

Worst: Winters — Minnesotans might not be buried under bills, but they are buried under something else: snow. The state has been voted as having the most miserable winters in the country, and with some parts getting over 170 inches of snow each year and seeing temperatures of -60 degrees Fahrenheit, we don’t disagree.

Mississippi

Worst: Women’s health — But it clearly isn’t going towards female healthcare, as the state has the highest rates of death from heart disease, breast cancer, and diabetes in women.

Missouri

Worst: Drug use — But the amount of money donated to good causes isn’t the only thing that’s sky high. Missourians are getting a different kind of high more frequently than any other state, according to a study that puts them at No. 1 for drug use.

    wow I overslept this morning–felt good…lol
    saw some headlines at tcth–will be bringing it in a bit.
    apparently hunter’s lawyer team called the clerk of court and said they were affiliated with the GOP lawyer who filed an amicus brief on behalf of congress. and they asked to have that brief removed–the clerk did so. GOP found out and reinstated it and informed the judge–the judge gave hunter’s lawyers till 9 pm last night to response to why they shouldn’t be sanctioned.
    really is that it? sanctioned? not sure what that is, but it sounds penalty-light to me.

        THAT i don’t know…but this is big. that lawyer should be disbarred so we’ll see.
        the bad part is the email the clerk sent to the GOP committee or whatever about the situation…she/he apologized for the confusion.
        so they left will probably jump on that wording and say it was somehow the clerk’s fault…

              3. I saw it and commented that there is probably a short in it and the wire isn’t “hot” or it is unplugged. No, they don’t like the shocks at all and they definitely feel it but it also depends on the strength of the charge – if it’s too weak, it won’t affect them. Jake used to smell my fingers and hands after I was petting LM – he just sniffs, no other reaction.

              5. Well, there have always been stray cats around and he’s seen them thru the windows/doors and from the patio since I first got him. He and LM would quasi-fight thru the patio door window, with both of them slapping the glass. It was really kind of comical, tbh!

                As for being nose-to-nose with other cats – he is more afraid than anything. A few years ago, my Sis came up for a week-end and brought a newborn kitten with her that she was nursing. Jake was actually scared of the kitten (about 1/10th his size if that much) – he hissed and ran and hid. He is SUCH a pansy ass!!! He was also scared of Melli’s kitten.

    3. Surprise!!! Yep, still here….I woke up in the mood to clean and with me, ya’ gotta strike while the iron is hot! And there is really nothing on my list that can’t wait or I can’t pick up here….it was 74 when I got up at 5:45 and sticky-humid. I’ve already vacuumed the LR/DR/kitchen, started laundry, stripped the bed, etc., etc. Hey, I’m on a roll – best not to stop me!!!

      Well, fancy that! I was able to touch GT this morning!!! I fully intended at that point to still go to Norfolk so I walked out to the patio in my t-shirt and undies, grabbed the food dish and squatted down to set it outside. By that time, he was sitting outside the door – I guess since I was down on his level, I didn’t look so scary because he stretched, mewed, blinked and leaned forward to sniff my fingers!!! I scratched his head with 2 fingers and he pulled back with a look on his face: “She touched me?!?!? STOP TOUCHING ME!!!” I obliged and left him to his food. Progress!!!

    4. I saw on Fox a little while ago that the legal firm contacted the clerk and claimed it was a lowly law clerk who made a mistake….we’ll see if that flies.

They are both weak, ineffective, and very bad for the Republican Party, and our Nation. With even modestly skilled opposition, they’ll lose their next Election.     Isn’t every phone call to a government agency recorded? Yes, they are.
    So there will be proof of what the lying lawyer said.
    The issue is whether the judge or someone in the clerks office can be blackmailed, bullied or bought off to swear that that particular call was somehow corrupted.
    Exactly what Wray said about the person that planted those pipe bombs on J6.
    Speaking of the pipe bomb & the story that dropped a couple of days ago…that Harris was in close proximity to the bomb. Where’s the outcry… especially from Harris & her hubby???

    Tesla Motors was founded in 2003 by Marc Tarpenning and Martin Eberhard, who developed the Tesla Roadster. When Tesla accepted millions from Elon, it came with the condition that he be named chairman of the company. Even though he only contributed money, Musk was unable to hide his anger that the media wasn’t giving him credit for Tesla Motors. And after forcing Eberhard out of the company he re-wrote their history to have himself listed as an original co-founder.

    This obvious fake persona of a billionaire quirky genius has worked so well that few even question SpaceX. The official story is that Elon, who has absolutely no experience with rocket science, came up with the idea for SpaceX while traveling to Russia with the CIA’s Michael Griffin of In-Q-Tel. Shortly after this conversation, Griffin was made administrator of NASA where he launched the COTS program that privatized NASA’s rocket program. And awarded two-hundred and seventy-eight million dollars to SpaceX who had never made or flown any rockets. Musk then partnered with rocket engineer Tom Mueller, who went on to produce rocket technology that has clearly been developed for years in the private sectors of the military-industrial complex.

    Republican lawmaker and Army veteran Cory Mills from Florida has raised a serious concern about the treatment of Gold Star families following the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. One of the 13 Gold Star families, the family of Marine Corps Sgt. Nicole L. Gee, faced an unexpected financial burden after her death in Afghanistan in 2021.

    During a meeting with the families of the “Fallen 13,” Rep. Mills was deeply angered to discover that the Department of Defense had imposed a substantial financial responsibility on Sgt. Gee’s family. They were compelled to arrange and finance the transportation of her body to its final resting place, a cost that amounted to an astonishing $60,000. Fortunately, a nonprofit organization stepped in to cover the expenses on behalf of the Gee family.

    This situation arose due to an amendment to last year’s National Defense Authorization Act, which granted the Defense Department the option to decline payment for the transportation of deceased military members’ remains who died within a theater of combat operations. Consequently, while Sgt. Gee’s remains were flown to her hometown in Roseville, California, for a ceremony, her family had to bear the responsibility and expenses to transport her to Arlington National Cemetery for the final burial.

    To assist the Gee family, Honoring Our Fallen, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the families of fallen American service members, offered their help by arranging a private jet to transport Sgt. Gee to Virginia. However, Rep. Mills believes that the financial burden should not fall on the families of fallen heroes. He expressed his deep disappointment at the situation, emphasizing that fallen heroes are traditionally flown back home with respect and honor for a solemn service, and then laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery.

  39. Already 90 and steamy outside – ran down to pay Jerry for the tire – only $30 – and p/u some creamer and a jar of jelly. I used most of what I had left refilling it this morning and the case won’t be here until Friday. Just called Mom to tell her HB – they left at 6:30 this morning and are already in Mankato, MN, headed to WI. Hell of a lot cooler up there!!!

      CAPE CORAL, Fla. (FLV) – Employees of a Florida-based retail health company said JP Morgan Chase Bank suddenly terminated their personal and company bank accounts without an explanation. One of the employees believes the account shutdowns were politically motivated and due to their employer’s controversial stance on COVID-19. Another employee said the sudden decision to close her account is creating additional hurdles to help send money to her husband who is bedridden with dementia in the Philippines.

      The owner of Mercola Market, Dr. Joseph Mercola, has criticized of COVID-19 vaccines and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Mercola Market sells specialty beverages, food, supplements and other health items. A store is located in Cape Coral.

      On July 13, Mercola Market, along with the CEO, CFO and some of their family members, all received similar letters from Chase Bank saying “[they] have decided to close” their individual personal and business accounts.”

      The judge is questioning the fact that Hunter is still under investigation
      for other things and that a plea deal at the moment is not appropriate..
      GOOD.. I wonder how much his lawyer shenanigans the other day played
      into this decision.

    Though the bitings had long been blamed on the White House dog, Commander, other people began to find it suspicious that the teeth marks on the victims were a perfect match for the president’s dentures. “We simply couldn’t keep saying the dog did it,” the source continued. “There’s only one animal in this place who bites children to steal their ice cream, and it’s not Commander.”

    At publishing time, President Kamala Harris announced plans to bring in a new White House dog and name it “Joe” to make everyone feel like Biden was still around.”

  50. Dang, it’s hot out there! I was sweating after only 5 minutes watering in front – heat index has to be at least 100 or more by now – it was 94 then and 96 now and I’m pouring sweat again after doing the back. Sometimes plants are amazing….I had red petunias in my hanging baskets last year. When I took the dirt ball and dead plants out of the basket, I just tossed them on my debris pile behind the garage. When I went to turn on the hose, I noticed one bright red petunia blooming in the root ball on top – dried out, caked together in a hard ball, and that damned flower is blooming!!! Nature – it never ceases to surprise me!!! Of course, I had to save it so I put the whole thing inside a clay pot outside, then watered it and broke the soil up.
