E.T. Phone Home

Today marks the anniversary of the premier of E.T. at the Cannes Film Festival in 1982.  In honor of that event, I bring the following puzzle from GAMES World of Puzzles, called E.T. Phone Home.  Each answer begins with “E T”.  For example, if the clue was “Exam often taken in a blue book” then the answer would be Essay Test.

  1. Morning All!
    chilly morning again here…about 35*.
the orioles chatter impatiently at me to put out the feeder…but the hummers are hanging back–think it might be a little cold for them now.

    1. Morning, Pat! 58 here and it will be heating up quickly – almost 90 next week. Possible thunderstorms later, supposedly. Thankfully, the wind finally dropped around sundown. Unfortunately, some of the blackbirds have, indeed, figured out how to hang upside down and steal suet. SMH – there is no winning with them! LOL – I am nowhere near awake enough to try this quiz!

I just had the privilege of meeting Mr. Rowe. I was contacted by his wife who is confined to the bed who called and said they really needed help . I pulled up to the yard not knowing what to expect . At first I thought I was at the wrong house . Didn’t think someone lived here . I walked up to the door & knocked to see if anyone was home . I could hear a sweet little voice “ hello”. We talked thru the door and told them I was the guy they called . I could hear his wife say “ Thank you Jesus “. Mr. Rowe said he would be right out and came to the front to talk to me . He told me the grass hasn’t been cut since July 2022 and that him and his wife are having a hard time . He also said over 10 ppl came by in the past to look at the lawn but passed on it . And I had doubts myself if I could even do it , but I got started and today, my mower & weed eater cut this down like butter. It took a while but it was worth seeing him smile . The entire time he sat on his steps just watching . You could tell how much it meant to him .

So glad I could help them and bring a little smile to them . I told them I’ll be back every 2 weeks to maintain it and work on it more . Putting the care, back in lawn care .

we’ve never had one at our little pond, but the old neighbor guy used to complain about them. they would pull out the bass from his pond and leave them half eaten on the grass…then go after another.

            1. The only fish I caught that I ever ate was salt-water Bluefish – once you cut out the blood line down the side to eliminate that overly wild flavor, it is quite tasty! We used to do it in foil on the grill, with lemon and butter. I do have to admit that I like fried cat fish, too.

We would weigh them, take pics, and then release them to be caught again some day….this is the biggest bass I ever caught – over 7 lbs. 9. i think this guy hits it on the head…278,000 illegal searches; perkins coie has/had an fbi portal in their office. were THEY doing a large number of the illegal searches? they are a part of lawfare…
    THIS needs to be investigated.
    entire article
I have become increasingly skeptical of much of what is going on in our government. AT writers and readers inspire me to question everything.

Some recent events have caused me to pause and ask some questions about why now. When multiple “bad” items are reported in tandem, I am often left to ask: is this really the thing, or is it perhaps a distraction?

In the same timeframe during which the Durham report was released, we also saw a report released on the FBI FISA abuses. We are supposed to be happy that only 278,000 unauthorized (illegal) warrantless searches occurred in 2020 and accept that the FBI has resolved this situation.

Interesting…a system created to keep tabs on foreign threats is being used to illegally spy on American citizens at an alarming rate. And the most absurd item in the story is that we are to believe that the FBI has new processes in place that resolve this. I would not be surprised if we learn later that they redefined the definition of searches to cut down on the number of illegal searches (think redefining gain-of-function research to say we aren’t funding it).

One separate comment about the FBI response: the Durham report specifically calls out the FBI for not needing new procedures for the abuses investigated, but the FBI needs better enforcement of existing procedures. If there is ill intent, and I would say the evidence is that there were at least 278,000 instances of ill intent that we know of, then no procedural change made will make a difference. Ill intent equals bad behavior almost every time if there are no consequences.

Why did this report and the Durham report drop at about the same time? Could there something we are being distracted from?

I ask AT readers to go back to 2022. It was discovered that Perkins Coie had an FBI portal in their office and that they were running “searches” on this portal. In my opinion, it was odd that a law firm, especially one with clear left-leaning ties, including to the discredited Steele Dossier, was given an FBI portal.

Now we know that Democrat operatives had direct access to an FBI portal, and we know that someone was running warrantless searches on Americans. According to the information supplied, the 278,000 illegal, warrantless searches occurred between 2016 and 2020 and would seem to overlap with the Perkins Coie law firm having access to the FBI portal during the 2020 presidential election cycle.

Hmmmm. Have we been provided with information on who ran those searches? How many of the warrantless searches were run outside FBI offices on portals like the one at Perkins Coie? Did Perkins Coie run any illegal searches through their portal?

Is the Durham Report a distraction from this potential fact pattern?

I think we have to be skeptical of the timing on the Durham report and the warrantless searches disclosure. Was the Durham report used as a distraction from the real issues of the warrantless searches — i.e., that some of those searches were performed by “outside contractors,” including a Democrat law firm that used its connections to score the ultimate political research tool? Who else had a portal and was running searches?

Was some of the weaponization of our government performed by “outside contractors” that were supporting the favored candidate for president? I hope that oversight in the House consider this as they continue the weaponization of government hearings.

We keep hearing about the Big Lie. Americans need to consider the importance of a Great Distraction. When two items are released in tandem, is there something we are being distracted from?

  10. EXCERPT: “An abortive rally and an expanding field of challengers hasn’t hurt Donald Trump’s standing in Iowa, according to a new poll from Emerson College. In results released Thursday morning, 62% of Republican voters indicated they would choose Trump as the party’s nominee, giving the former president a 3-to-1 margin over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who clocked in at 20%. Mike Pence and Nikki Haley are tied for third with 5%.

DeSantis, who formally declared his run Wednesday during a Twitter livestream with Elon Musk, has long been considered the most significant challenger to Trump for the GOP nomination, but the gap between the two has been expanding. Although the governor made a pair of widely covered visits to Iowa earlier this month, any corresponding boost in the polls has yet to materialize. The Emerson survey places him about on par with the current RCP national average.”

Look at DeSantis’ history. He was the lockdown beach closer during COVID-19, and he had people arrested for opening their businesses. In 2021, long after President Trump was out of office, Ron DeSantis suspended the liquor licenses of non-compliant bars and restaurants. Don’t let the Ukraine management team (Pushaw Inc.) attempt to rewrite it.

      — Ron DeSantis (@GovRonDeSantis) April 28, 2020

Ron DeSantis is the easiest candidate in the history of presidential candidates to deconstruct, because it’s all phony.

If you come across a Florida resident claiming to support Ron DeSantis, tell them to post “I LOVE RON DESANTIS” on their Facebook page, Instagram or social media, and watch what happens. They won’t do it, because they don’t want to be ridiculed by their community network. Yes, it really is that obvious and that bad.

If you listen to national media or alt-right CONservative media, those being paid for their participation and support of the fraud, you would think Ron DeSantis has a lot of support and following. He doesn’t. DeSantis is running away next week to campaign outside Florida because the sunlight down here is too hot. His management team is trying to make a quick national impression because sooner or later people are going to realize the pretense.

I’m involved in the Republican Party in my county in Florida and I can tell you RdS is a total fraud. Look closely at the bills that his handlers in the legislature (e.g., Travis Hutson) have drafted for Ron’s signature. The titles of the bills all sound like they’re tough conservative bills. The details reveal they’re anything but that. His Election Integrity bill does nothing to make elections more secure or to prevent fraud. Machines are allowed, and a private person can be arrested for challenging results. We don’t have constitutional carry, although the 2A bill Ron signed says we do. You still have to qualify to obtain a COncealed Carry permit to own a gun , but you can leave the permit at home. There’s no open carry. Ron claimed to defund ESG money funds by taking $1 billion of pension funds out of those investments. The state pension funds are $180 billion. Ask Ron where the rest of the $179 billion is invested, you’ll be surprised. Everything the guy does is for show with zero real substance.

It appears that America has become the dumping ground for third world criminals and the mentally insane as evidenced by the latest U-Haul truck crash at the White House. Obviously ChiCom Joe and the idiots in his administration are just fine with these sorts of illegal aliens. Why can’t we do something to stop them? Why don’t we have a Lawfare? Why can’t these NGOs that take in these illegal aliens be stopped, be charged with transporting criminals across state lines, obstruction of justice, aiding and abetting criminals, charge them all with something??!! Bleed them dry like Democrats are doing to anyone who supports President Trump?? Take them all to court!!! Do something, anything except hold hearings in the House where administration officials are told they are doing a terrible job and they respond by saying they are doing a very good job at the borders!!! Once again President Trump was right, we’re not getting the best coming in illegally. Most are illiterate, unskilled and only speak a foreign language.

  13. EXCERPT: “A Montana state court is poised to hear a lawsuit against the state brought by children and teens who claim they have a right to a “stable climate.”

The “Youth Plaintiffs,” ranging in age from two to 18, allege they are “disproportionately harmed by the climate crisis” and will “face lifelong hardships” unless the government steps in to mitigate the supposed threats by developing a plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, according to the March 2020 complaint. Since Montana’s constitution grants them a right to a “clean and healthful environment,” they argue the courts must bring the state’s energy system “into constitutional compliance.”

The Montana governor, Department of Environmental Quality, Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, Department of Transportation, and Public Service Commission are all listed as defendants in the lawsuit.

“The release of anthropogenic GHGs into the atmosphere is already triggering a host of adverse consequences in Montana, including dangerously increasing temperatures, changing precipitation patterns, increasing droughts and extreme weather events, increasing the frequency and severity of wildfires, increasing glacial melt, and causing numerous adverse health risks, especially to children,” the lawsuit states.

The case is the first of its kind to go to trial, the Brennan Center for Justice notes. Other similar cases have failed at earlier stages. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals found in 2020 it could not grant the relief a group of young Americans requested in their lawsuit against the federal government for its support of fossil fuels, though it noted the record “left little basis for denying that climate change was occurring at an increasingly rapid pace.” The case was dismissed for lack of standing.

The Oregon Supreme Court ruled against youth plaintiffs in 2020 in a similar lawsuit against then-Gov. Kate Brown.

In January 2022, the Alaska Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit by 16 youth plaintiffs who said the state’s backing of fossil fuel production was a violation of their constitutional rights. A Florida state judge dismissed another similar case in 2020, noting that judges shouldn’t dictate public policy because “a dictator in a black robe isn’t any better than a dictator in a suit or in a military uniform” and that the people will “eventually get this climate thing right” through their elected representatives.

But Montana First Judicial District Court Judge Kathy Seeley denied the state’s bid to stop this case from moving forward in 2021.”

  14. EXCERPT: “This summer, we are expecting electrical issues, so get your generator tuned up and your fuel tank filled. The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), the group which monitors our electricity grid, says get ready for blackouts and brownouts all across America.

(We want to thank Marc Abear for this Op-Ed. If you have an Op-Ed or LTE you would like us to consider, please submit it to Editor@GraniteGrok.com.)

The weather forecast for the summer is hot. That means dry, too. This is going to be an “El Nino” year, meaning hotter than average temperatures across the country. Air conditioners and fans are going to get a big workout this year.

NERC says America has built too much of its electrical generation capacity with unreliable wind and solar harvesting technologies. This, NERC expects, will lead to rolling blackouts all across America, most especially during times of peak use.

NERC warned previously that America is building far too many intermittent service power plants, a.k.a. solar and wind farms while tearing down and retiring reliable and still serviceable coal and natural gas generation facilities. Intermittent energy harvests energy from the sky. No sun, no solar. No wind, no electricity. You get the idea; intermittent energy sources work fine … when the conditions are right.

Energy sources that harvest electricity are fine… if you have enough capacity. Since electricity is perishable, you have to use the output when the devices can harvest it. That means during the day when the sun is out… or when the wind is blowing. But those things aren’t available 24/7/365.”

They have become the Mafia, protecting their buddies crimes all in the name of protecting the institutions. You don’t protect corrupt institutions, you tear them down and annihilate them forever.

Barr was covering for his friend Mueller and his crimes, and he hates Trump because he wants to destroy their corruption racket.

“Jamaican Vacation Rental Owner Creates Social Media Frenzy After Saying She Is Blocking Black Americans From Staying At Her Property Due To Disrespectful Behavior [VIDEO]”
    By Heather Allen | May 24, 2023

EXCERPT: “A Jamaican business owner who leases small cottages as short-term rentals to tourists has said she will be blocking “Black Americans” from renting from her in the future.

The owner said she rents to people from all over the world but has had difficulty with most of her Black American clientele. She categorized them as “Disrespectful, entitled, unappreciative” and said the reason they are is because they have been spoiled and given too much “free shit” in America.

She complained that they started fights with each other late at night and said they expected the same treatment in Jamaica that they receive in America, “they think that they can come to Jamaica and can get the same free shit here, and they are nasty about it.” She continued making it clear that she is not saying all Black Americans are the same.”

The owner, who goes by thebarefootislandlady on Instagram, said many business people are miserable because of their clientele, but she was not going to allow bad customers to do that to her. “I’m not risking my health and my happiness for people, no short-term stay, no short-term stay. It is not going to happen here. She continued, “I would rather eat salt and bananas and let goats and cows into my house than have you come in and disrespect it. I would not hate my business because of customers. A lot of business people are miserable because of their customers, not this place.

EXCERPT: “Do Chip And Joanna Gaines Agree With Target’s Pro-Trans Satanist Stance?”
    BY: MADELINE OSBURN
    MAY 25, 2023

EXCERPT: “Reality TV stars Chip and Joanna Gaines are no strangers to media firestorms. From the time the “Fixer Upper” stars first graced HGTV to starting their own television network and building their own physical empire in Waco, Texas, they have endured public scrutiny and even personal attacks on their family, often for their Christian faith. Sadly, just because the critiques are par for the course of modern-day fame and fortune, that does not make them any less real or worth parsing out. Once again, Chip and Joanna have some explaining to do.

If a business partner is going to make you stupidly rich, then you should have to speak up and explain yourself when that business partner reveals itself to be all in on a movement that strips minors of their emotional and physical well-being, going as far as promoting chemical castration and genital mutilation.

As major business partners of Target, it’s important to get some clarity on where the creators and figureheads of Target’s popular Magnolia Home line stand in the wake of Target’s “Bud Light situation.”

Do Chip and Joanna support Target’s manufacturing of “tuck-friendly” and “chest-binding” swimsuits for children? What about selling the “Bye Bye, Binary” board book with the tagline “Nobody puts baby in a pink or blue corner!”?

So the 7 foot tall wire mesh fencing constructed around the U.S. Capitol after the Fedsurrection on J6 cost the taxpayers at least $19 million and was put up in less than 48 hours by the National Guard that President Trump aka Commander in Chief had asked for in advance of the rally at the U.S. Capitol.

Where did they get it so quickly, and why wasn’t it put up beforehand instead of the disappearing bike racks?

Do we have receipts on when, where and why it was purchased?

I mean stuff like that just doesn’t fall off the banana republic trucks.
