And You Thought YOUR Mom was Weird…

Moms — we’ve all got them, and we all need them. But some animals have a slightly different idea of what it means to be a good mother. From moms who turn their bodies into food to others who encourage their young to become cannibals, here are the weirdest mothering techniques in nature.

Chickens

Chicken moms take their duties very seriously. Creating an endless amount of calcium carbonate for eggshells is a difficult task, so if chickens don’t get enough calcium in their diets, they’ll actually dissolve their own bones to make baby-housing shells. That’s one way to lose baby weight!

Cuckoos

Cuckoos have figured out a unique way to get the neighbors to do the difficult work of raising young. Momma cuckoos will sneakily lay their eggs in another bird’s nest. In doing so, the cuckoo tricks the other bird — often a different, smaller species — into taking on the expensive burden of raising the chick. The cuckoo chick usually hatches first, and grows faster, forcing the other chicks out of the nest, where they then die. It then gets the full attention of its adoptive parents, giving it much greater chances of survival.

Blood-Sucking Ants

The tiny endangered Madagascar-based Adetomyrmaant has a strange way to show love to its kiddos. The ants practice something known as “non-destructive cannibalism.” When the colony’s queen gives birth to ant larvae, she and her workers chew holes in the tiny babies to feed on their haemolymph – their circulatory system fluid (which would be blood in mammals). Scientists can’t say exactly why these ants do this — ants have a social behavior of transferring fluids to each other, so they may be practicing a rudimentary form of that behavior. The baby ants don’t die, but sucking blood from the young is a weird way to show vampire affection.

Gray Whales

Sometimes, mothers in the wild have to go to great lengths to protect their young.

Pacific gray whales migrate thousands of miles from cold, plankton-rich Arctic waters to relatively nutrient-poor tropical lagoons off of the coast of Mexico where they give birth. While the journey takes the gray whales away from a bountiful food supply, the southern neighborhood is free of the dangerous orcas (they stick to colder waters) that otherwise hunt the newborn whales. It also gives their newborns time to feed on their mothers’ incredibly rich milk (53 percent fat!) and build a layer of insulating blubber before the must head to the icy Arctic. Like bears, the mother whales go hungry for months while still needing to produce high-calorie milk for their babies. During this time they may lose as much as 8 tons of weight.

Spiders

For many spiders, the act of mating signals that their lives are about to end — remember Charlotte’s Web? For several species of the Stegodyphus spiders, motherly love goes even further than watching over the nest. Females attach their egg cocoons to their webs and watch over them until the babies hatch. Once her children have hatched, the mother continues to eat, but regurgitates most of her meals as a nutrient soup for her offspring while the spiderlings stay in their mother’s web.

When the babies are around a month old, the mother spider rolls over on her back allowing the spiderlings to clamber over her, kill her by injecting their venom and digestive enzymes into her body, and eat her. After the young gobble her up, they turn on each other and cannibalize as many of their siblings as they can before leaving their mother’s web. Thanksgiving dinners are probably pretty awkward after that kind of upbringing.

Sea Louse

Talk about a painful pregnancy. The small fish-clinging female sea louse has to deal with males that impregnate up to 25 females at one time. The worst part? By the time she is ready to give birth to hundreds of baby lice, she sits back and the babies chew through her insides to emerge into the world.Poison Frog

The teensy female poison arrow frog literally goes above and beyond when taking on the duties of motherhood. After laying as many as five eggs and watching them hatch, the strawberry poison arrow frog carries her tadpoles, one by one, on her back, from the rain forest floor up into trees as high as 100 feet. After hoisting her babes to the treetops, the frog then finds individual pools of water in leaves for each tadpole, setting up safe and individualized nurseries. That’s not the end of her super-mom duties. The mother strawberry poison arrow frog then feeds each of her young with her own unfertilized eggs over the course of six to eight weeks, thus allowing these tadpoles to grow into young frogs without having to eat each other. What, eggs again?

Suddenly my mom doesn’t seem so bad! Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers who read here!

The bad stuff missed me, thankfully. Only one period of really high wind but nothing was knocked over or damaged so it’s all good here!

    ‼️BOMBSHELL‼️

    @KariLake
’s lawyer Kurt Olsen tells the court that in @maricopacounty
ADMITTED that 260 of 446 tabulators FAILED testing before the Election. That’s 58% of the tabulators.

On Election Day, 59% experienced severe malfunctions.

Maricopa submitted a declaration by Elections Director Jarrett revealing that AFTER the October 11th certification for logic & accuracy, they realized that they didn’t configure the vote center tabulators to not accept provisional or early ballots.

So they went in, rewrote the memory cards, installed what they said was previously approved election definition software. This totally reconfigured these machines. Under, A.R.S 16-449 it mandates that whenever something like that is done, the logic & accuracy test must be performed again. It states that both the automatic voting tabulating equipment and the software need to be tested. That voided all 446 tabulators.

That on top of the tabulation test failures and the failures on Election Day, displays clear misconduct & intent. It also supports our claim that the election was rigged.

    @KariLake
    found the smoking gun. Wow.

Since the CNN town hall and DJT’s reference to the cat’s name people have been busying themselves trawling through EJC’s tweets, most are too disgusting to repeat and no subject is off limits for her. One of her very old tweets has around 350 new comments since Thursday, as the tweet itself is shocking.

Another comment she wanted supermarkets to stock sp*rm ice cream. At least people are aware she’s completely off the rails. This must be all the stuff the judge blocked in the trial. Oh and she’s besties with Kathy Griffin.

Enough of this it’s too horrible to contemplate.

As has been discussed elsewhere on this site, my wife and I are seeing groups of HISPANIC young adult males in Walmart buying shopping carts full of food. They speak only Spanish.

They are obviously part of the horde of illegals flooding into the USA.

Common food items, such as salted butter, are wiped out. Toilet paper aisles are depleted.

These invaders are being given smart phones, at U.S. taxpayer expense, when they trespass, and are obviously being handed debit cards to buy whatever they want. They travel on buses and airliners at OUR expense to any location in OUR country. They stay in hotels at U.S. taxpayer expense.

Is this how we American seniors will spend our remaining years, fighting with invaders who have no business flooding the streets of America?

My wife and I are senior Americans from American families going back more than ten generations to the early colonies.

Those of us who are still able should prepare for an all-out fight in the streets against these millions of criminals who are invading our homeland and fighting against the government unlawfully welcoming them here and HANDING THE INVADERS OUR HARD-EARNED MONEY.

THERE IS NO GOVERNMENT MONEY. This is OUR MONEY being stolen and given to invaders.

When you have nothing left to lose and no place to retreat, you are reduced to furiously fighting for your very existence.

  13. this SUCKS! Vets being dislocated from hotels to make way for illegals. the vet groups pay about $88 a night for those vets but the gov’t pays up to $190 a night. so the vets get booted.
    FTA
“A lot of them are Vietnam veterans. We do help them on a constant basis to get them benefits and help them find a place in society.”

State Assemblyman Brian Maher, a Republican who helps rep Orange County, said, “Shining a light on this is important because we need to make sure these hotels know how important it is to respect the service of our veterans before they kick [them] out of hotels to make room.”

“They really ought to think about the impact on these people already going through a traumatic time,’’ he told The Post.

“Whether you agree with asylum-seekers being here or not, we can’t just ignore these veterans that are in our charge that we are supposed to protect: the New Yorkers and Americans.”

“We need to put them first.”

Toney-Finch said she believes it all comes down to money.

“They want to get paid’’ more, she said of the hotels, referring to what her group shells out to get the vets housing compared to what the city is paying for each migrant.

“That’s so unfair, because at the end of the day, we are a small nonprofit, and we do pay $88 a day for a veteran to be there,” she said.

While it’s unclear what the city is paying upstate, various reported deals between the Big Apple and Manhattan hotels have called for payments such as $190 a night — part of an estimated $4.3 billion migrant price tag for taxpayers through spring 2024.

Adams began bussing migrants flooding the city to The Crossroads on Thursday — hours before a key federal immigration-rule change was set to take effect and feared to increase the influx even more.

  14. this is horrendous. juvenile shoots someone in the head–found incompetent to stand trial and released. he does it again…
    FTA
No shock that this story comes from Minneapolis, the heart of “Defund the Police” and mostly-peaceful riots. Now the judges in that city don’t seem to take crime seriously at all.

An unnamed 16-year-old boy was ruled incompetent to stand trial after shooting a man in the head. He also had 12 misdemeanors, all of which were dismissed by the judge. The young man was turned back over to his mother.

No time behind bars. No punishment at all. No mental health treatments if he was truly insane. Just a court appearance and no consequences.

Is it a shock that 8 months later he did it again?

The 16-year-old boy robbed and shot a man in the head at a gas station (the man survived the shooting but is still hospitalized). Then, after fleeing the scene, he cornered an older lady in a parking garage, held a gun to her head, and stole her car without firing a shot.

This all could have been avoided in a just system.

He became a gap case, falling through a loophole in Minnesota law that lets juvenile suspects charged with crimes go free without required mental health treatment or supervision.

There are roughly 300 kids each year found incompetent to stand trial, according to state court data.

Since he was 16, a juvenile, the law didn’t require that he receive any punishment or treatment after he was found mentally incompetent due to a low IQ score.

So, it’s a get-out-of-jail-free card for 300 teens each year who can commit, apparently, any heinous crime they want and receive no punishment at all.

Until recently, this was the law in Minnesota for adults too, until last year when the state legislature passed a law removing the loophole for adults.

But minors are still able to, quite literally, get away with murder.

Since the law requires cases to be suspended – even when they involve violent crimes – judges can’t order juveniles to be held in detention or released under law enforcement supervision.
Judges’ hands are also tied in these cases because they have no authority to order children to get treatment to restore them to competence.
Even if they did have that power, there are no competency restoration programs in Minnesotatailored to juveniles.

In one case, a mentally ill teen who was charged with two armed robberies, found incompetent to stand trial for those crimes, and then let go to his grandmother instead of secure treatment.

  15. “FDA ORDERED TO PRODUCE MODERNA C-19 VACCINE AND PFIZER ADOLESCENT C-19 VACCINE DATA AT AVERAGE RATE OF 180,000 PAGES PER MONTH — Another blow for transparency”

    AARON SIRI
    MAY 12, 2023

EXCERPT: “As you may recall, we obtained a court order in January 2022 forcing FDA to produce all of its data on Pfizer’s covid vaccine for those 16 years and older at a rate of 55,000 pages per month, as opposed to the 75 years FDA sought. That production should be completed in a few more months.

In a second lawsuit we brought, the same judge just ordered FDA to produce the documents it relied on to license and Moderna’s covid vaccine AND Pfizer’s covid vaccine for 12-to-15-year-olds at an average rate of at least 180,000 pages per month.

In this second lawsuit, this time also on behalf of the parents of Maddie de Garay, a young girl grievously injured in Pfizer’s clinical trial for 12-to-15-year-olds, we explained to the Court the importance of timely production. Once again, FDA claimed it would be “impractical” to release the estimated 4.8 million pages at more than between 1,000 to 16,000 pages per month, or in other words at least 23.5 years. We countered, demanding FDA produce all documents by mid-2025.

The federal judge, in an amazing decision, started by stating that “Democracy dies behind closed doors” and ordered them to produce the files – millions of pages – in just 2 years, amounting to a rate of at least 180,000 pages per month.

Indeed, it is another blow for transparency and accountability. The Judge’s decision is just that good that I am including below a copy of the entire decision – it is a short four pages. Enjoy!”

  17. “9-Year-Old Boy’s Life Hangs in the Balance: Denied Transplant Over Vaccination Status”

By Jeff Charles | 7:30 AM on May 12, 2023

“The opinions expressed by contributors are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of RedState.com.”

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Despite the fact that COVID-19 is no longer a major threat to anyone, the COVID cult is still in effect, and it could cost a nine-year-old boy his life. The COVID regime has already caused immense damage and ruined far too many lives. But, unfortunately, it appears the cult is not through with us just yet.

Tanner Donaldson, a 9-year-old boy with stage 4 chronic kidney disease, was born with a rare birth defect causing irreversible kidney damage. Tanner’s father, Dane Donaldson, is a suitable live kidney donor, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital has refused to conduct the transplant surgery because Dane is not vaccinated against the coronavirus.

The hospital has a policy that requires all organ donors to be fully vaccinated to minimize complications during and after surgery. Dane questioned the hospital’s hypocrisy, pointing out that deceased organ donors are not required to be vaccinated. He even offered to sign a waiver freeing the hospital from liability. But the hospital still rejected him.

In April, the Epoch Times reached out to the hospital for an explanation. “Individuals who are actively infected with COVID-19 have a much higher rate of complications during and after surgery, even if the infection is asymptomatic,” the hospital responded.

Dane opposes the vaccine for religious reasons. But he has also been hesitant “because he has seen a rising number of clients get critically ill after receiving it,” according to the news outlet. The hospital acknowledged that live donors are the best for kidney transplants but said they are “not without risks. We continually strive to minimize risk to our living donors, and vaccination is an important component to ensure the safest approach and optimal outcomes for donors,” the hospital asserted.

Dane Donaldson indicated that he and his wife are trying to find another hospital to perform the operation.

This is one of several stories in which people have been unable to donate their organs because of faulty COVID policies. There is no telling how many people have perished because hospitals are more concerned with making sure people are vaccinated than actually saving lives.

Denying life-saving medical treatments to individuals based on their vaccination status is ethically wrong for several reasons. Firstly, it goes against the fundamental principle of medical ethics, which is to prioritize the well-being and best interests of the patient. In these cases, the patients in need of organ transplants are being denied potentially life-saving procedures solely because their potential donors are unvaccinated.

Even worse, there seems to be no real evidence that an unvaccinated donor would place people like Donaldson in more peril than the ailment they are suffering from. This decision disregards the urgent medical needs of the patients and places a higher priority on vaccination status rather than the health and lives of individuals.

Secondly, it creates a dangerous precedent of discrimination based on personal medical choices. Medical decisions, including the choice to receive a vaccine or not, should be made by individuals based on their own assessment of risks and benefits, taking into account their unique medical conditions and personal beliefs.

By denying medical treatments to individuals who have made a different choice regarding vaccination, healthcare institutions are effectively punishing and stigmatizing those who have made a different decision, undermining personal autonomy and the right to make informed medical choices. Unfortunately, their religious adherence to the COVID cult could result in more loss of life because of unnecessary policies.”

She has joined up with FLCCC (FrontlineDoctorsCovidCriticalCare) – I was pleasantly surprised, personally.

“A Familiar Formula — The infant formula industry’s massive PR campaign against breastfeeding has striking parallels to the assault on natural immunity from COVID.”
    JENNA MCCARTHY
    MAY 12, 2023

EXCERPT: “The fact that anyone, anywhere, could be convinced that a processed chemical cocktail that may or may not contain artificial sweeteners, emulsifiers, stabilizers, BPA, and GMO corn and soy was superior to the convenient, portable, biologically perfect feeding system Mother Nature brilliantly built into the female body is mind-blowing if you ask me. Sure, if a woman has a condition that prevents her from being able to suckle her spawn or has some reason she needs to be separated from her baby for long stretches or, heaven forbid, dies during childbirth, I’m glad there are alternatives to ground up dinosaur nuggets. (It’s worth noting that some formulas are far superior to others, so if you’re in the market for a breastmilk substitute, for the love of lactose, please do your research.) But calling any synthetic stand-in ‘better than breastmilk’ and framing lactating as shameful is a dangerous and deplorable money grab by manufacturers that has been supported by policymakers and lobbyists for decades.

The parallels to natural immunity from infection are so clear. Oh, you had COVID? That’s nice. We still want you to take this experimental gene therapy that lists death (among hundreds of other debilitating ills) as a side effect. No, it won’t prevent you from getting sick or spreading the virus to others, but you’re a selfish granny-killer if you refuse it, insists Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, who personally raked in more than $24 million in the first year of his company’s COVID vaccine rollout. (Also, Bourla did not technically say that; that was rhetorical hyperbole on my part, a literary device still protected by freedom of speech.)

    —————–
I feel grateful that with a little patience and some help from a lactation consultant, I was able to nurse my babies. Similarly, I’m thankful that I caught and recovered from COVID and not only have all that robust natural protection but an intact immune system to boot.

As hard as they try — and damn, do they try; Pfizer and J&J spent more than $50 million on COVID advertising in the first six months of 2021 alone — the pharmedia (my word) and their favorite philanthropaths (not my word) will never scare me into begging for something I don’t need that could injure or kill me.”
