Dust Off That Tuxedo

When I think of Burgess Meredith, Grumpy Old Men usually comes to mind.  But in his younger days, Meredith played The Penguin—arch villain on the original Batman series.  What else is there to know about penguins, I wondered.  Here are some interesting facts I found out!

There are only 17 -20 penguin species living on our planet—scientists do not agree on the methodology apparently.

Penguins are quite fast swimmers. Their speed is usually between 5 and 10 mph. However, they can reach a top speed of up to 22 mph!

The fastest of all penguin species is the Gentoo penguin.

The average lifespan of a penguin lies between 15 and 20 years, depending on the species.

In order to be able to raise their chicks, penguins come ashore.

The smallest penguin species is the little penguin, ranging from 12 to 16 inches. (laziest naming ever…LOL) These penguins are also called fairy penguins, or just little blue penguins.

The biggest penguin species is the emperor penguin, which can reach a height of up to 48 inches.

While emperor penguins can weigh up to 100 pounds, little penguins only weigh around 2 pounds.

Scientists estimate that extinct ancestors of penguins reached a height of up to 70 inches.

While some sources cite that the emperor penguin dived 1,850 feet, their maximum diving capacity is usually around 1,000 feet.

Most of the penguins usually only dive in a range from 16 – 65 feet.

Penguins can hold their breath up to 20 minutes while diving.

Penguins mainly feed on fishes, krill and squids.

Contrary to beliefs, penguins do not have any teeth.

Penguins lose all of their feathers every year. During this time, they are unable to swim, which may cause difficulties for them as they also cannot fish due to that.

The name penguin comes from an unrelated bird species “great auk”, which is already extinct.

Penguins are actually birds but don’t have wings. They have flippers instead.

Penguins are unable to fly.

In order to keep them warm in winter, penguins have many layers of feathers to protect against the cold.

Penguins are masters in controlling their blood flow. Once part of their body becomes too cold, they pump warm water in those parts in order to warm them up.Their biggest enemies penguins have to watch out for are leopard seals, killer whales and sea lions.

The closest relatives of penguins are albatrosses, divers and petrels.

Penguins can drink saltwater as well as freshwater in order to survive. Excessive salt will be excreted.

In order to be able to recognize their mating partner, each penguin has a specific unique sound frequency which it can use to gather with its partner and differentiate him from other penguins around.

Most of the penguin species live on the South Pole or Antarctica, while all of them, apart from the Galapagos penguin, live in the Southern hemisphere.

Don’t confuse Arctic with Antarctica. Penguins don’t live at the North Pole!

In order to reach higher initial speed, penguins often jump out of the water before they dive.

Although it might not be intuitive at first glance when you see penguins out of the water, they are perfectly disguised while swimming. Their white belly disguises them from predators below them, while their black back fits in the water surface and protects them from predators above them.

Penguins produce oil that makes them resistant against the cold water and also more agile underwater.

It is estimated that the average penguin colony varies from 200,000 to 500,000 individuals.

While some penguin species prefer to stay on land, there are also some species that spend up to 80% of their lifetime in the water.

The penguins’ body is built to dive and sink easily, as their bones are not hollow like for many other birds, but they rather have dense bones which make them quite heavy.

Instead of walking, penguins often move with their belly on the ice. It is not fully clear why they do it, but scientists estimate that it might be a faster way to move on ice compared to walking.

Penguins are usually quite trustful towards humans. This is probably learned behavior since most of their predators are underwater and they feel safe on land.

In cold times, penguins are not reluctant to get closer to each other. In fact, they use each other’s body temperature to warm and protect against the cold.

        1. OK, I’ve been fiddling with my camera….first, it started like this – in front:

          Now…temp at 35 – in front:

          And in back:

Now the flakes are the biggest I’ve ever seen, floating softly straight down and piling up fast….wow! Pretty!

      1. TBH, I don’t even remember – now that I think about it, up to 6 inches at least….with the temp at 35, I’ll bet the roads are slicker than whale shit! Anyone who is out in this is truly nuts!

  1. “My public healthcare worker survey results: Myocarditis rates up >10X post-vax” — They told us that the rates of myocarditis from the vax are less than COVID. So explain to me why healthcare providers are seeing >10X cases than pre-COVID and pre-vax?

    Steve Kirsch

EXCERPT: “Executive Summary — My survey of healthcare offices showed a huge increase in myocarditis (and other serious side effects) post-vaccine. I’d like the mainstream media to do the same survey and show us that the opposite occurred.

Introduction — Last month, I ran a survey of healthcare workers on myocarditis rates pre-COVID, during COVID (but before vax), and post-vax for those under 25.

Survey results — Here is the result. Here are the aggregate totals in cases seen per month in those under age 25:

Pre-COVID: 5 (only one reporter saw 5 cases per month; rest 0)
    COVID: 4
    Post-vax: 81

In other words, rates went up by >10X from both pre-COVID rates as well as during COVID (but before vax rollout) based on this survey only.”

  2. “George Santos’ claim mother was a victim of 9/11 doesn’t add up”
    December 29, 2022 | Terresa Monroe-Hamilton | Print Article
EXCERPT: “Representative-Elect George Santos (R-NY) is finding himself in increasingly hot water after allegedly claiming that his mother died in the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center five months before he turned around and tweeted that she passed away in December 2016. Santos has now been caught in numerous fibs the week before he is set to represent New York’s third congressional district. He now faces an investigation into his finances and the calls for him to resign are ratcheting up. They are not just coming from Democrats, either.

Journalist Yashar Ali dug up tweets from 2021 and aired them Wednesday night. He contrasted Santos’ claims side by side. Mediaite confirmed the authenticity of the tweets and they are evidently still up on Santos’ Twitter account. Santos responded to an offensively named account called “9/11 was a victimless crime” by tweeting, “9/11 claimed my mothers life… so I’m blocking so I don’t ever have to read this again.”

Just five months later, Santos announced that his mother passed away in December 2016. His campaign website reads, “George’s mother was in her office in the South Tower on September 11, 2001, when the horrific events of that day unfolded. She survived the tragic events on September 11th, but she passed away a few years later when she lost her battle to cancer.”

It could be construed that Santos believes that the dust and exposure on 9/11 contributed to his mother’s cancer which took her life but the claims are just inconsistent enough on top of other lies that he’s being hammered over it. Not to mention the fact that 15 years after the fact does not “a few years” make.

Santos also claimed that he lost four of his employees in the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando. That was looked into by The New York Times and none of the 49 who perished in that deadly shooting appear to have any connection to his companies.

  3. Holy cow! A REALLY extensive and detailed, word-for-word, interview with Kari Lake….just a few excerpts:

“Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way” played as Lake entered the hall with her entourage. She wore a white dress and took photos with voters. I heard one young woman say, “She’s so stinking cute.” Her security brought us behind a curtain where two chairs waited for us. Her team told me that I don’t have much time before Lake would be whisked away to her next meeting. There was a horde waiting on the other side of the curtain—it was a feeding frenzy. Lake seemed prepared to address them all—but she also expressed that she could use some food and was probably ready for a moment of rest, which was something I can’t imagine she’s had a chance to find in the last few months, perhaps years.

We sat across from one another as she sipped her coffee. Her eye contact was intense yet kind.
“Well, they picked a fight with the wrong person,” Lake said. “I’ve had a lot of conservatives reach out to me and say, ‘Just walk away and then we’ll get behind you on the next election.’ But I don’t think they understand. I’m not in politics because I want to be a politician. I didn’t get into this to go, ‘Oh, I’m going to work my way up the ladder and move into bigger political positions.’ I don’t want to be a politician. I want to get in and root out corruption, secure our border, and turn our elections around so that every Arizonan can be certain of their vote … If they’re trying to dangle over me the ‘you’re-not-going-to-have-a-political-future because of this…’ I don’t care.”
Someone like Kari Lake would not have been on my counterculture radar years ago—but today it’s a lot less about one’s appearance than it is about what one is willing to say in public—consequences be damned. “How do you see an election going forward?” I asked.

“I’m trying to tell other Republicans who don’t want to come out and say our elections are rigged…that they need to start looking at our lawsuit. … Read the 70 pages. If we don’t come out and face the truth that our elections are a joke, it really makes me wonder how long they have being doing this stuff. We have fake news. We have fake phony elections. And we have fake corrupt installed government. And when you look at the facts, you find this to be the truth. Anything the media and social media doesn’t want us talking about are the biggest issues. They didn’t want us talking about COVID. I got cancelled for putting out information on ivermectin. I got sued for sharing information from doctors. They don’t want us to talk about Ukraine. How the money going there is being laundered and funneled through our political system. Can’t talk about that. Anything they don’t want us talking about should be the hugest red flag.”

“This [election] case is so important,” Lake said. “And even the people who are leaving us, I want to grab them and say, ‘I know you don’t believe in this, but I’m doing this for you, and your future as well.’ I worry about elections going forward. If we don’t win this on Thursday, I’m going to keep pushing. We’re not going to take a loss because I know we are right. And I will push it to the Supreme Court. … Donald Trump did something amazing. He brought ‘we the people’ back into the White House. Our movement is all about ‘we the people.’ It’s not about me. It’s about reclaiming our country. We the people need to be in charge of the government, but people are going to stop voting because we have banana-republic-style sham elections. That’s why this is the fight of our time.”

“I’m fighting the urge myself to keep from not voting,” I said. “We have to try and keep the hope,” Lake said. “I see what you’re up against. … it seems immovable,” I said. “David and Goliath,” she said. “But it’s not just Democrats versus Republicans. It’s a uniparty. There is a lot of corruption on both sides. This is about stopping Trump. Don’t fool yourself. Trump is America first. They can’t have him in office… They’re really trying to push DeSantis… He’s great and fine. He’s in his 40s. He’s 10 years younger than me. He can wait. Trump is going to get in there and root out corruption. He’s not bought and paid for. There are people already surrounding DeSantis. I hope he uses great discernment when he looks around and sees who is trying to weasel their way into his world. Who created DeSantis as governor? Trump. I do, however, believe at the end of the day that Ron DeSantis will be a good and noble person.”

DeSantis has yet to announce a run for the White House, but he’s become an establishment favorite—which, despite his strong stance against COVID tyranny—still gives me pause. “You know the Lincoln project supports him?” I asked Lake. “That’s a problem,” she said. “That’s what I’m trying to say. He needs to do a bit of a gut check and say, ‘Whoa, the wrong people are surrounding me.’ What he really needs to do is step forward right now and say, ‘I am not running. I will not run against President Trump. Trump helped me, and I’m going to help him because we need him back in office.”

“US government funds research on correcting “false beliefs” — Another way the government finds ways to alter online discourse.”
    By Cindy Harper
    Posted 2:37 pm

“The US government is funding research on how to fight online “misinformation” by correcting “false beliefs.” The funding is in partnership with fact-checkers. On July 7, 2021, the National Science Foundation (NSF) funded a project titled, “How False Beliefs Form and How to Correct Them.” The NSF allocated $444,345 to Lisa Fazio, an Associate Professor of Psychology and Human Development at Vanderbilt University. Since then, the total amount granted to the researcher has reached $506,478, as was first surfaced by a War Room report.

Published on NSF’s website is the grant’s purpose, which states: “There is currently an urgent need to understand the real-world effects of misinformation on people’s beliefs and how to best correct false beliefs.

“Through a series of laboratory and naturalistic experiments, the project team is examining the effects of repetition on belief in real-world settings and how to more effectively counteract misinformation.

“By examining these basic psychological processes in the primary domain within which they affect daily life – misinformation on social media – this work will have implications for real-world practices aimed at reducing the impact of misinformation.”

The idea is for the research to “inform real-world practices aimed at reducing the impact of misinformation.” The NSF claims that “fact-checking practitioners are consulted to help guide the research, and results will be discussed with them.” However, it does not name the fact-checkers, many of which have already built up notoriety for the often biased way they apply fact-checks.”

  7. “Russian MIL Begin Naming Names! Fauci and Collins of the NIH Created C19!”

EXCERPT: “Biological Update from Russian Ministry of Defense, pertaining to the conclusion of the Ninth Review Conference of the BWC.1 To put it briefly, no ground was made. The West blocked all proposals put forth by Russia to amend the Biological Weapons Convention, in order to hold the US accountable for their actions in Ukraine.

However, this is far from the end of the road. Russia exhausted all the formal diplomatic channels to no avail, but they show no intent to stop their mission to hold the West accountable for their biological genocide in Ukraine. In response to the West’s lack of cooperation, Russia have decided they are going to start dropping names. It’s time for scorched Earth. This is a passage from General Kirillov’s briefing. Absolutely astonishing:

“We have previously presented materials confirming the involvement of Hunter Biden and his Rosemont Seneca Foundation, as well as other US Democratic Party-controlled entities, in funding the Pentagon’s main contractors operating in Ukraine. It has been shown how deeply the son of the current US president, Hunter Biden, is involved in funding the US DOD-controlled company Metabiota.

However, some participants in closed projects remain in the shadows, although they are key players in Ukraine’s military-biological programme.

They include former DITRA director Kenneth Myers, executive vice president of the CIA-controlled In-Q-Tel venture capital fund Tara O’Toole, former head of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Thomas Frieden, former the National Institutes of Health director Francis Collins, former Battelle Memorial Institute executive director Jeffrey Wadsworth, chief scientist and president of international research, development and medicine at Pfizer and many others.

All of them, in one way or another, are beneficiaries of the Pentagon’s biological projects and are linked to the US Democratic Party, whose leaders act as the masterminds of military- biological research and the creators of covert money-laundering schemes to benefit a narrow circle of US elites.

It is these people who should be asked why taxpayers’ money is being spent on illegal military-biological research in Ukraine and other countries around the world.”

Russian is no longer pulling any punches. They are directly accusing the named individuals, one of which my followers will know very well, Dr. Collins, former Director of the NIH, the co-conspirator along with Dr. Fauci behind the cover up of the origin of Covid 19.

Don’t worry, Kirillov didn’t forget about Fauci.”

  8. 3 factions in the speaker race. one is “only kevin” (5 reps from texas), the “never kevin” group (Gaetz et al), and the third group (includes chip roy) who want single issue legislation, 72 hrs to read any legislation, and restoration of motion to vacate the speaker position. it was a house rule until 2018 until the dems dispensed of it.
