The Wisdom of Country Music

The picture below is Cody Johnson, a country music singer who sings a very poignant song—“’Till You Can’t”.  (The lyrics are also below.)  This song always reminds me of the people in my life that are gone, but one very important one.  His name was John and we became good friends in middle school.  He was a shy, handsome young man with penetrating brown eyes a girl could get lost in.  And I did.  I had a crush on him for years, but with his shy nature, nothing ever happened.  We were best friends.  Then I met an older guy who became my first boyfriend.  John never cared for him and as the years went by, he began to question my boyfriend’s motives. John and I wrote each other every summer and then still wrote when he finally went off to college.  That first Christmas he came home, he called to get together, but I wasn’t home to take the call.  And I never returned his call.  I had had a talk with my boyfriend about “our future” and just as John had warned me, there was none.  I was embarrassed and didn’t want to admit to John that he had been right.  He went back to college and committed suicide.  His mother said he was depressed over the Christmas break that none of his friends made time for him.  I will never forgive myself for that.  But I did learn a lesson.  I tell people that I love them—often—and I ask how they are and I let them know I appreciate them in my life. “ ‘Cause you’ll never know how bad you wanna till you can’t someday…”

“‘Til You Can’t”

Cody Johnson

You can tell your old man you’ll do some largemouth fishing another time
You just got too much on your plate to bait and cast a line
You can always put a rain check in his hand till you can’t
You can keep putting off forever with that girl who’s heart you hold
Swearing that you’ll ask some day further down the road
You can always put a diamond on her hand till you can’t

If you got a chance, take it, take it while you got a chance
If you got a dream, chase it, ’cause a dream won’t chase you back
If you’re gonna love somebody, hold ’em as long and as strong and as close as you can
Till you can’t

There’s a box of greasy parts sitting in the trunk of that ’65
Still waiting on you and your grandad to bring it back to life
You can always get around to fixing up that Pontiac till you can’t

If you got a chance, take it, take it while you got a chance
If you got a dream, chase it, ’cause a dream won’t chase you back
If you’re gonna love somebody, hold ’em as long and as strong and as close as you can
Till you can’t

So take that phone call from your momma and just talk away
‘Cause you’ll never know how bad you wanna till you can’t someday
Don’t wait on tomorrow ’cause tomorrow may not show
Say your sorries, your I-love-yous, ’cause man you never know

If you got a chance, take it, take it while you got a chance
If you got a dream, chase it, ’cause a dream won’t chase you back
If you’re gonna love somebody, hold ’em as long and as strong and as close as you can
Till you can’t

If you got a chance, take it, take it while you got a chance
If you got a dream, chase it, ’cause a dream won’t chase you back
If you’re gonna love somebody, hold ’em as long and as strong and as close as you can
Until you can’t
Till you can’t
Yeah, take it

Another song that rings true with me is “When It Rains It Pours” by Luke Combs.  His girlfriend leaves and he thinks it’s gonna be the “death” of him and it turns out to be his “saving grace”.  Been there!  The decision to keep my child was not an easy one—it was the most difficult of my life—but I stood firm in my beliefs and guess what?  My child led me to the love of my life!!! Things happen for a reason!

“When It Rains It Pours”

Luke Combs

Sunday morning, man, she woke up fighting mad
Bitching and moaning on and on ’bout the time I had
And by Tuesday, you could say that girl was good as gone
And then when Thursday came around, I was all alone

So I went for a drive to clear my mind, ended up at a Shell on I-65

Then I won a hundred bucks on a scratch off ticket
Bought two twelve packs and a tank of gas with it
She swore they were a waste of time, oh, but she was wrong
I was caller number 5 on the radio station
Won a 4-day, 3-night beach vacation
Deep sea, senorita, fishing down in Panama
And I ain’t gotta see my ex future mother-in-law anymore
Oh, Lord, when it rains it pours

Now she was sure real quick to up and apologize
When she heard about my new found luck on that FM dial
And it’s crazy how lately now it just seems to come in waves
What I thought was gonna be the death of me was my saving grace

It’s got me thinking that her leaving is the only logical reason

That I got the last spot in the Hooter’s parking lot
And the waitress left her number on my check with a heart
She picked up on the first ring when I gave her a call
And I only spent five bucks at the Moose Club Raffle
Won a used four-wheeler and three free passes
For me and two of my buddies to play a round of golf
And I ain’t gotta see my ex future mother-in-law anymore
Oh, Lord, when it rains it pours
When it rains it pours

I’ve been on one hell of a redneck roll for three weeks now
And it all started on the day that she walked out

Then I won a hundred bucks on a scratch off ticket
Bought two twelve packs and a tank of gas with it
She swore they were a waste of time, oh, but she was wrong
And I was caller number 5 on the radio station
Won a 4-day, 3-night beach vacation
Deep sea, senorita, fishing down in Panama
And I ain’t gotta see my ex future mother-in-law anymore
Oh, Lord, when it rains it pours
When it rains it pours

The last song here is a good reminder that there are 2 sides to every story and you may be surprised by who’s lying to you.  The man in this song, is being gracious—breakups are inevitable at times—but how we treat others going forward is paramount.  Don’t jump the gun and don’t spread lies.  The coverup is always worse.

“Truth About You”

Mitchell Tenpenny

Yeah, this town’s been telling me
I’ve done some things I never did
Yeah, the grapevine starts with a glass of wine
And you taking a sip
Every word that you’re saying’s
Another stab to my reputation
And I can’t take it anymore
But you’ve opened that door

Yeah, there’s two sides to every breakup
One’s a lie and one’s the truth
One of ’em went down and one was made up
But in the end we both lose
Why can’t we meet in the middle
Call it even, call a truce
If you quit telling lies about me
I won’t tell the truth about you

Like how you picked a fight
Every time you saw me get a text
To make yourself feel better
That you still talk to your ex
Yeah, you told your friends, you told your mama
That I’m the root of all the drama
But we both know why this ended
Girl, I caught you red-handed

Yeah, there’s two sides to every breakup
One’s a lie and one’s the truth
One of ’em went down and one was made up
But in the end, we both lose
Why can’t we meet in the middle
Call it even, call a truce
If you quit telling lies about me
Well, I won’t tell the truth about you

Yeah, I truly wish the best for you
So don’t ruin the next for me
‘Cause you really don’t want me to tell the truth
For everyone to see, yeah

That there’s two sides to every breakup
One’s a lie and one’s the truth
One of ’em went down and one was made up
In the end, we both lose
Why can’t we meet in the middle
Call it even, call a truce
Yeah, if you quit telling lies about me
Well, I won’t tell the truth about you
(Won’t tell the, won’t tell the, won’t tell the truth about you)
Tell the truth about
(Won’t tell the, won’t tell the, won’t tell the truth about you)
(Won’t tell the, won’t tell the, won’t tell the truth about you)
I don’t wanna tell the truth
(Won’t tell the, won’t tell the, won’t tell the truth about you)

  1. Morning All!
what a long, long day yesterday was. But we got everything delivered and managed to spend lunch with my mom and then spent some time with my son and his wife in the afternoon before we headed home.
Saw some incredible stuff in my state–miss trump yet flags were prevalent–AND quite a few END ELECTION FRAUD yard signs in farm country. And Filly–I even saw a Nebraska Cornhuskers flag!

Really sad moment too…we were passing a local church and there were 2 fire dept bucket trucks at the parking lot entrance–buckets high in the air–and between them was the largest American flag I’ve ever seen…it was for the funeral of 2 (i think) local firefighters who died in a fire…there were fire depts from all over the state in that lot paying their respect. And it explained the other signs we were seeing, but didn’t understand…we support NTFD. New Tripoli Fire Dept.

    1. Glad you were able to spend that time with your family. Not surprised about the NE flag – beware! WE ARE EVERYWHERE!!!! LOL

I remember you mentioning the friend who committed suicide. I had a somewhat similar situation with my good friend, Rich Melancon, who was also in the Army. He was my dance partner – very tall – we had sooooo much fun. We could jitter-bug like no tomorrow! Any time I was out, whether on a date or not, I ALWAYS danced with Rich. He was also very talented as an artist. I still have a pencil drawing he drew for me of my living room in my apartment in Arlington, showing the black velvet paint-by-number painting of Jesus.

He hid his disappointment well when I married HB’s Dad. I never realized how he really felt about me – it just never occurred to me that he was IN love with me, whereas I loved him as a friend. He hid that, too. Not long after, he met a woman named Susan and they quickly married – I was very happy for him. They had a little boy who was only a few months younger than HB. At one point, when my marriage was going to hell in a hand-basket with an alcoholic hubby who wasn’t working, we needed a place to stay and they welcomed us to stay with them in their basement. I have pics of HB and their son in the bathtub together.

We lost track of each other after that but many years later, I happened to run into Susan. She told me they had divorced and Rich had moved to CA, hoping for a career drawing cartoons. Not long after, he put a shotgun in his mouth and blew his head off. And, of course, I felt guilty for not recognizing the pain he went thru over his love for me and that I wasn’t there for him….hindsight is, indeed, 20/20! (Another one for my list!)

EXCERPT: “Dr. Anthony Fauci continued his farewell media tour on Thursday. Former Fox News host and notorious Trump hater Chris Wallace set Fauci up with a perfect opportunity to slam the former president. Watch: https://rumble.com/v1zo0ac-what-do-you-think-about-donald-trump-faucis-response-says-it-all.html

“What do you think of Donald Trump?” Wallace asked.

“Well, you know, I had difficulty in that administration… I felt very uncomfortable about having to publicly get up at the White House press room and being put on the spot to directly disagree with the President,” he said. “And that’s how I evolved essentially, in the, you know, public enemy number one of the far-right, which I did not desire to be put in that position.”

“You may be done with political life, but political life is not going to be done with you,” Wallace said. “What are you going to do if, in your view, you become a punching bag for Republican critics?”

“Well, if I become a punching bag, I’m a punching bag,” Fauci replied. “But I am very happy to testify before any congressional oversight committee, I have nothing to hide, I have — I can explain and validate everything that I’ve done. So you know, it’s going to be inconvenient if they actually are out there, essentially threatening to make my life miserable. But it’s I mean, I’m going to do what I need to do, and that is cooperate fully, because we have nothing to hide at all.”

Dr. Anthony Fauci revealed the accusation by Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) that triggered him the most during a new sit-down interview with NBC’s Lester Holt. Watch: (video link in article)

“You got angry at times in some of the congressional hearings when you were personally attack? Do you have any regrets about the way that you handled that?” Lester Holt asked.

“I think 99.9 percent of the time, I have been my usual self, which is very calm and measured,” Fauci claimed. “The only time I really got upset was when Senator Paul totally inappropriately on national TV that was following that hearing, accused me of being responsible for the death of 5 million people.”

“Now, with all due respect, I’m not going to take that from anybody, including a senator,” Fauci went on. “So that was the one time that I felt I got upset and probably should not have, but I think that’s the only time that I really did that. Because I — I don’t mind oversight at all. I think oversight is a productive part of the process. But when you start off by, you know, being accusatory based on no evidence whatsoever and making a slanderous comment that that has to go answered, you can’t let that go unanswered.”

Yesterday she was out for a run. She collapsed and much effort was made to save her. It was not to be. She was 44.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha was next in line for the throne.

Her death is not yet made public, to my knowledge.

May Princess Bajrakitiyabha rest in peace. Prayers for her, her family, and for Thailand.

“State Attorneys General tell Twitter to preserve censorship evidence — Two states are currently involved in a lawsuit regarding government-Big-Tech censorship collusion.”
    By Dan Frieth
    Posted 12:06 pm
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Missouri’s Attorney General Eric Schmitt who, together with Louisiana’s Attorney General Jeff Landry, filed a lawsuit alleging collusion between the federal government and social media companies to censor certain speech, sent a letter to Twitter asking for the preservation of evidence related to communications between the company and federal government officials on content moderation and misinformation.

We obtained a copy of the letter for you here.

Schmitt, who was elected to the Senate in November, referenced the internal documents, dubbed “Twitter Files,” that are being released by CEO Elon Musk via journalists Matt Taibbi, Bari Weiss, and Michael Shellenberger. The files showed that then-deputy legal counsel Jim Baker, who was at the FBI before joining Twitter, was involved in the decision to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story. After the release of the first batch of the Twitter Files, it was revealed that Baker was vetting the documents being released to Taibbi and other journalists. Baker was fired immediately.

On Monday, Schmitt announced: “We sent a letter to Twitter asking the platform to look into whether any key documents were deleted.”

The letter asks Twitter to preserve evidence related to the lawsuit, adding that the platform should take the necessary steps to prevent the destruction of evidence that might have happened at the direction of Baker.

“Further, we asked Twitter to reveal who from the federal government communicated with Twitter to censor speech. Based on our recent depositions, we believe the previous list we received pursuant to a third-party subpoena was incomplete,” Schmitt wrote. “Lastly, we asked Twitter to provide responsive documents pursuant to our original third-party subpoena.”

“WordPress discussed deplatforming The New York Post after Hunter Biden laptop story — Infrastructure providers are increasingly considering censorship.”
    By Didi Rankovic
    Posted 2:43 pm
EXCERPT: “And now that people are once again talking about it, so is WordPress founder Matt Mullenweg, who this week revealed that WordPress owner Automattic was also considering censoring the New York Post story since the media outlet used WordPress VIP as its content management system.

Although Mullenweg framed all this in an interview with The Verge as an example of the hardships of “moderation,” what the revelation really shows is the infrastructural depth of online speech restrictions, which is not limited to social media but also includes deeper layers, such as a CMS platform.

Automattic in the end managed to resist the urge to join Twitter and Facebook in, to all intents and purposes, trying to hide a legitimate and highly relevant news story from the public. According to Mullenweg, the “to censor or not to censor” debate revolved around probing Automattic’s terms of service, to find out whether some of them could be interpreted to mean that America’s oldest news outlet had violated the rules.

“We made a decision there to not touch it,” he said, adding, “The interpretation of the policies is really where I think the art and science of it is.”

In other words, major online platforms like to have rules that are not really rules, but rather statements that can be interpreted whichever way best suits those platforms in any given case.

    Hmmm let’s see…

    The Real Dr Judy Data

EXCERPT: “In 2006, Dr. Joe Derisi built a ‘chip’ that can contain and detect ‘any virus.’ Derisi notes, “But [here] we simply have virtual patterns, because we’re never going to detect every single virus, that would be virtually impossible.” (9:45).

Derisi is telling us that since he can’t find all the viruses, he will instead let the computer ‘create them’ as patterns.

As Derisi himself states, “And what I’m telling you here from the signal, is that men who have a mutation in this antiviral defense enzyme, and have a tumor, often have — 40 percent of the time — a signature which reveals a new retrovirus. OK, that’s pretty wild. What is it? So, we clone the whole virus. First of all, I’ll tell you that a little automated prediction told us it was very similar to a mouse virus. But that doesn’t tell us too much, so we actually clone the whole thing. And the viral genome I’m showing you right here? It’s a classic gamma retrovirus, but it’s totally new; no one’s ever seen it before. Its closest relative is, in fact, from mice, and so we would call this a xenotropic retrovirus, because it’s infecting a species other than mice.“

Oh, how did a mouse virus get inside a human tumor sample? I think we call that XMRV or – Xenotropic murine leukemia virus-related virus!”

    1. that truck one reminded me–last night there was a crazy mother trucker on the highways!
I-80–BIG truck route. it’s dark outside when we were heading home–i see flashing lights in the rear view–now the highway is flat for miles, then there mountains–and so on and so on…so we saw these flashing lights–not colored–just flashing headlights. first in the drive lane, then the passing lane and they just kept ping ponging back and forth like that. it finally caught up to us–an 18 wheeler. flashing his headlights to pass erbody. now erbody is going 75 in a 70mph zone–so no one is slowing him down, but this asshole was narrowly cutting around other semis and cars alike…up hill, down hill, didn’t matter!!
hope he didn’t cause any accidents cuz he was an idiot.

      1. Speaking of PA roads in the winter – one year, when my GS was still a baby, we decided to make a trip to NE to see my a-Mom for Christmas. I had a small 2-door ranger so no room for all 3 of us. I bought an air ring to put between the cab and the bed cover so we could blow warm air thru the window and we put GS’s car seat back there. HB would ride back there with him off and on. Anyway, we were on the PA Turnpike and it was blowing snow so bad I couldn’t see – and I had no wiper fluid. I had to keep pulling over to clear it off. Now THAT was a scary trip!!!! A nice trucker stopped to help us. GS had just gotten over a cold that ended up turning into pneumonia by the time we got to NE. Man, what a “vacation” that was!!!!

      1. From Wiki: Nudibranchs (/ˈnjuːdɪbræŋk/[2]) are a group of soft-bodied marine gastropod molluscs which shed their shells after their larval stage.[3] They are noted for their often extraordinary colours and striking forms, and they have been given colourful nicknames to match, such as “clown”, “marigold”, “splendid”, “dancer”, “dragon”,[4] or “sea rabbit”.[5] Currently, about 3,000 valid species of nudibranchs are known.[6]

The word “nudibranch” comes from the Latin nudus “naked” and the Ancient Greek βράγχια (bránkhia) “gills”.

Nudibranchs are often casually called sea slugs, as they are a family of opistobranchs (sea slugs), within the phylum Mollusca (molluscs), but many sea slugs belong to several taxonomic groups which are not closely related to nudibranchs. A number of these other sea slugs, such as the photosynthetic Sacoglossa and the colourful Aglajidae, are often confused with nudibranchs.”
