Built for speed, cheetahs are slender, with long thin legs and a long tail. They have coarse, short fur that is yellowish tan in color and covered in solid black spots. Black tear-shaped streaks on the face help to reflect the sun when hunting. Adults weigh around 46–158 lb.

Male cheetahs do not remain with the females after mating, and do not play any role in rearing young. Female cheetahs on the other hand are caring, affectionate and dedicated mothers. Following a pregnancy of three months, female cheetahs will give birth to a litter of 2–8 cubs in a secluded spot such as a rocky outcrop or marshy area with tall grass.

Cubs are vulnerable to predators, and many do not survive the first year. Initially, mothers leave the cubs hidden while hunting, but cubs will start accompanying her at around six weeks.

Female cheetahs spend a long time caring for their cubs and teaching them essential survival skills like hunting. Cubs typically stay with their mothers for one and a half to two years.

What is the biggest threat to cheetahs?

Cheetahs are classified as vulnerable by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. With around 10,000–12,000 individuals left in the wild, cheetahs are Africa’s most endangered big cat.

Historically, cheetahs have been hunted for their fur, but today some of the biggest threats to their survival are loss of habitat, and competition for resources. Cheetahs require large areas of land for survival, so increased human settlements and road construction in their habitat puts them at risk.

    1. Good morning! IDR how cold it was when I first got up an hour ago….but it’s up to 18 now, with bright blue clear skies and, thankfully, only a slight breeze. I used to watch the Big Cat shows on Nat Geo all the time and wanted a Cheetah at one point. Then I realized how big they got and settled on the Sand Cat as a much more likely candidate! And a few minutes ago, I was watching Zoo Watch in NC and they were talking about 2 sand cats they are trying to get to breed.

    America’s National Institutes of Health funded a group called EcoHealth Alliance, on multiple occasions, to collaborate on research done at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. At least one project consisted of gain of function research on bat coronaviruses. Because of concerns about the dangers of such research, NIH shut it off in 2014, but re-started funding gain of function in 2017, largely at the instance of Anthony Fauci.

      going to try Mama Smith’s pecan cookies tomorrow! Had to get pecans at the grocery store.
      I was going to try another recipe that looks oh-so-good too…Turtle Cookies. they are a chocolate cookie rolled in chopped pecans, then you make a little well in the top (like a button or thumbprint cookie) and when they come out of the oven you fill that well with melted caramels and then drizzle a little chocolate on the top.
      But i couldn’t find caramels (Kraft) anywhere! stopped at the little market on the way home and they didn’t have them either…sigh

        I fell in love with those Almond Roca cookies – that I posted the recipe for – at the first bite. The cookie base is almost like English toffee – like Heath Bars.

          to be honest, cookies are really hubby’s thing–I am a cake person. But at Christmas, I transform…LOL

        2. Morning, GA! Turtles were THE one thing that was always in my Xmas stocking – everyone knew of my love for them – but I can’t eat them any more because of the nuts. I make do these days with the bite-size Butterfingers that kind of melt. And, of course, my ever-present Tootsie Pops.

LOL – I’m allergic to very little – nylon panties is about the only one I can think of….have to wear cotton or I’ll get a boil along the panty line. I discovered that way back in 1976 when I went camping in the mountains – man, those suckers hurt but they have to be popped before they can heal. I wanted nothing more to do with THAT!

              3. True – I buy a 3 pk. of Underscore – a JCPenney brand – and quit using bleach – now use peroxide and Shout, plus some of that new lemon Fabuloso and/or dawn for that. I like the grade of cotton – very silky. However, made in China. Wore Kim Rogers/Belks brand for years, but can’t find them any more. National is a good brand, and may be made in the US. I think Hanes is too. I just like the JCP ones the best.

Witch Hunt!). At Summation, the prosecutor made statements that weren’t true or factual in order to help his bad & nonexistent facts, and was called out by the Judge. SCAM!

    Reviewers like Viraj get through up to 8,000 videos a day, with their output ranked against that of their colleagues. The relentless pace of their work can take a serious physical toll. They are paid as little as £212 ($260) a month.

    Video reviewers interviewed by the Bureau reported physical problems including headaches, eye pain and even deterioration in their eyesight. They said they were made to hit punishing targets, with tracking software logging any periods of inactivity outside of designated break times.

    While one expert recommended that people doing video annotation should take screen breaks every half an hour, some said their targets did not allow for this. The Bureau of Investigative Journalism interviewed 33 current and former Amazon employees, including 21 video reviewers, to shed light on a little-known outpost of Amazon’s sprawling global operations.

    Amazon spokesman Steve Kelly disputed a number of the allegations in this story, saying the Bureau and Verge had “selected a handful of anecdotes to paint a misleading picture, and we do not believe they represent the vast majority of our team.”

    Weapons supplied to Ukraine from Western countries are “starting to flow” into the Lake Chad basin region, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari warned this week.

    Addressing the heads of states from neighboring states participating in the Lake Chad Basin Commission on Tuesday in the Nigerian capital of Abuja, the president said, “Regrettably, the situation in the Sahel and the raging war in Ukraine serve as major sources of weapons and fighters that bolster the ranks of the terrorists in the region.”

    Buhari then urged his counterparts to increase security cooperation in order to confront the issue of arms smuggling. 

    The Nigerian president agreed to step up military coordination in their countries’ war against Boko Haram and ISIS terrorists, who are now apparently receiving weapons from Ukraine, alongside the leaders of Benin, Chad, Niger, and the Central African Republic.

    Last month, Finnish police said that some of the “huge quantities” of weapons being shipped to Ukraine had made their way to Finland, where “three of the world’s largest motorcycle gangs” now operate, including Bandidos MC, which “has a branch in every major city in Ukraine.”

    In August, an American news outlet unmasked that a shockingly large amount of weaponry heading for Ukraine was untraceable. “Like 30% of it reaches its final destination,” said a tweet that was later deleted after a swarm of online trolls attacked it.

    Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had previously said the arms supplied by the West to Ukraine were ending up on the black market and spreading across West Asia.

    Similarly, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had pointed out that Stingers and Javelin missiles, supplied by the West to Kiev, were already being sold at a discount on the black market and have surfaced in Albania and Kosovo, which Russia has warned for so long.

    Ukraine has received billions and billions of dollars in donated arms from the United States and its allies such as the United Kingdom and other NATO states in the past few months.

    Schiff fired the first salvo last month by openly admitting his long-known interest in the seat, telling a Los Angeles television station that, after his House leadership bid fizzled, he would “consider running for the Senate if Senator Feinstein decides not to run for reelection.” Schiff also met with Feinstein to inform her of his intentions, according to two people familiar with the exchange.

    Feinstein’s plans remain a wildcard. Shannon Epstein, 25, alleged caused the ruckus on a 6 a.m. flight from New Orleans, Louisiana to New Jersey on Thanksgiving Day. She asked a Latino family sitting nearby if they were “smuggling cocaine,” Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jason Rivarde told NOLA.com.

    Epstein, the niece of the failed 2016 Republican presidential contender, grew angry and was being disruptive on the flight, the local outlet reported Saturday. Airline workers decided to remove her from the plane, which had already left the gate. But Epstein allegedly refused to leave after the plane returned from the tarmac — and she became “extremely combative” when approached by deputies, the report said.

    She injured six deputies while resisting arrest, Rivarde told NOLA.com, including biting one on the arm and breaking skin. She kicked another officer in the groin, he added. Epstein also threatened the officers, saying her uncle is friends with former President Donald Trump and that she knows powerful people, Rivarde said.

    She ultimately had to be handcuffed to wheelchair, according to the report. The brash-talking Garden State pol’s niece was charged with six counts of battery on a police officer, three counts of disturbing the peace, one of resisting arrest by force and one of remaining after forbidden, the outlet reported.

    She was released from Jefferson Parish Correction Center on Thanksgiving Day after putting up $10,750 in bail. Her next court appeared is schedule for Jan. 23, the site reported. Epstein, Christie and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office could not be reached for comment by The Post Sunday.”

    MeMaw thought she was feeding ducks. The hunters who put the DECOYS in the water thought they were obvious enough decoys that the woman wouldn’t try feeding them. See, when hunters hunt ducks, they use decoys to lure real ducks into the line of fire. The only thing these decoys lured was a sweet old lady… who stopped being sweet once she found out she was feeding dummy ducks.

    The hunters tried to explain to MeMaw that the ducks weren’t real and that she had managed to wander into the middle of a duck hunt. MeMaw screamed, “You spend all that money just to murder a duck that never did anything to you?” The Ducks Bros answered with the only logical response: “We eat them. They’re delicious.” (gif)

    Funny thing about the ducks on sale at Wegmans? They stop being alive before they are packed up and put on sale at Wegmans. To quote one of the greatest philosophers of this or any other generation, Uncle Ted Nugent, you can’t grill it until you kill it.

    At least for Mecha-MeMaw Karen, she most likely does not know what a TikTok is. I would hope any grandkids or great-grandkids would have the sense not to show her the video or tell her that the internet is having a laugh at her expense. They should stay quiet sucking on the butterscotch candy she gave them out of her purse, and let her tell her story about how she confronted these mean hunters.

    To the hunters, thank you for remembering to do it for the content. I hope the real ducks were as easily fooled by the decoys. And that you also have a turkey and a chicken in the cooler with some cooking twine and a vivid imagination.”
