Meerkats

There are few animals on Earth who work as well together as meerkats. These squirrel-size members of the mongoose family live in groups of different sizes, from as little as three to as big as 50 members. Everyone in the mob participates in gathering food, keeping a look out for predators and taking care of the babies.

Meerkats live in the deserts and grasslands of the southern tip of Africa. They are super cute, with bushy, brown-striped fur, a small, pointed face and large eyes surrounded by dark patches. These extremely social animals live together in burrows, which they dig with their long, sharp claws. Living underground keeps mob members safe from predators and out of the harsh African heat. These burrows contain multiple entrances, tunnels, and rooms. A group will use up to five separate burrows at a time.

Meerkats only go outside during the daytime. Each morning, as the sun comes up, the mob emerges and begins looking for food. They use their keen sense of smell to locate their favorite foods, which include beetles, caterpillars, spiders and scorpions. They’ll also eat small reptiles, birds, eggs, fruit and plants. Back at the burrow, several babysitters stay behind to watch over newborn pups. This duty rotates to different members of the mob, and a sitter will often go all day without food. The babysitters” main job is to protect pups from meerkats in rival mobs who, if given the chance, will kill the babies.

While the rest of the mob forages for food, one of the meerkats (or sometimes more), called a sentry, will find a high point, like a termite mound, and perch on its back legs. From here it scans the sky and desert for predators such as eagles, hawks and jackals. A sentry who senses danger will let out a high-pitched squeal, sending the mob scrambling for cover.

Meerkats dig safe places called bolt holes throughout their foraging area, where they can hide in an emergency. But if caught in the open by a predator, a meerkat will try to look fierce, lying on its back and showing its teeth and claws. If a group is confronted, the meerkats will stand together, arching their backs, raising their hair and hissing. This sometimes fools an attacker into thinking they are a single large, vicious animal.

    1. Morning! I haven’t looked outside yet – as you say, still dark – so IDK if we got more snow or not. Temp is up, tho – 27/28 instead of the low teens at least. But what snow we have will melt before long – supposed to get above freezing soon, with high 40’s next week. Then again, that could change so….whatever happens, happens.

  4. imagine that! gruesome’s $98Billion surplus is GONE and will be followed by a deficit…
    entire article
Back in May, California Gov. Gavin Newsom gleefully boasted that the state of California had a nearly $98 billion surplus after operating in the black for multiple years. But, now that Newsom’s been safely reelected, new projections show that the state of California will have a $25 billion deficit in the 2023-2024 fiscal year.

“That shortfall, according to a new report from the state’s independent Legislative Analyst’s Office, could be followed by continued annual budgetary gaps between $17 billion and $8 billion for the subsequent three years,” reports the Sacramento Bee. “If the forecast holds true through June, when the state’s next budget must be passed, Newsom and legislators may have to make some tough calls. Those include how far to dip into the state’s reserves, where to make potential spending cuts and what projects and programs to slow down. Luckily, the state has stashed away billions of dollars in reserves in recent years to help cope with it.”

“The downturn is due to state revenues growing slower than spending — a possible precursor to a recession, the report indicated. The revenue estimates, if accurate, would represent the weakest economic performance California has experienced since the Great Recession of 2007 to 2009.”

  7. this article details why the votes don’t add up in AZ…
    entire article
The media and the Democrats want us to believe that Kari Lake, along with others, lost because the “Red Wave” did not exist, and that close association with President Trump was the kiss the of death for Republicans. Really?

Let’s take a closer look at the numbers to see what actually occurred in Arizona.

When ballots are taken in by unethical people to control the election process, they do so by obtaining ballots from those mailed out in various regions of the state. The ballots are then filled out for their favored candidates. The focus is always on the so called ‘up-ballot’ races (president, senators, governors, and statewide offices). Ignored are the ‘down-ballot’ candidates: Congress and local legislatures. The reasons for this are twofold: time and ballot differences. The ‘up-ballot’ candidates are the same for the entire state. The ‘down ballot’ races are distinct for the locale of that particular precinct or district.

Let’s take a closer look at the numbers for the up-ballot races versus the down-ballot races.

The four up-ballot races, won by Democrats, were: governor, senator, attorney general, and secretary of state. Republican Kimberly Yee won for state treasurer.

Looking at those four races and taking the average of the votes for each position we have:

Democrats: 1,285,500 average votes per candidate

Republicans: 1,219,750 average votes per candidate

Differential is: 65,750 ( Lake is losing by 17,250 votes as of this writing)

Now let’s consider what happened in the congressional races. Arizona, which has nine congressional districts, only had seven races, as Democrats did not run candidates in two of the seven districts. Looking at the numbers we have:

Total votes in nine districts for Republicans: 1,369,000, which averages to 152,000 per district.

Total votes in seven districts for Democrats: 938,000, which averages to 134,000 per district.

Equalizing the average for the Democrats we would have 1,206,000 votes cast for Democrat members of Congress, compared to 1,369,000 votes cast for Republican members of Congress. In other words, it would appear that approximately 163,000 more votes were cast for Republicans than for Democrats.

Now compare that number to the up-ballot numbers, which indicate that about 98,000 more votes were cast for the Democrat candidates than for the Republican candidates.

The conclusion would be that about 68,000 voters who preferred the Republican for Congress voted Democrat for governor, senator, AG, and secretary of state.

Additionally, the numbers indicate that 150,000 more people voted for all nine Republican candidates than voted for the four statewide offices under consideration for this exercise.

Both of those facts defy logic. When we consider the travails of election day experienced by many voters, the unacceptably high numbers of equipment issues, and the fact that the Democrat secretary of state refused to recuse herself from the election tabulation, one has to believe that there were serious issues regarding the fairness of the election.

    We cannot let this continue.

“Google is sued for auto-installing Covid “spyware” on people’s phones — Users woke up to find Covid tracing tech on their device without their consent.”
    By Didi Rankovic
    Posted 1:48 pm

EXCERPT: “A class action lawsuit has been filed against the US state of Massachusetts for what the plaintiffs claim is a case of covert mass surveillance carried out via “Covid spyware” installed on over one million phones.

The complaint asks for declaratory and injunctive relief (a bid to legally compel the defendants to fulfill their mandatory duties) and nominative damages, and was filed on November 14, 2022, by the New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA) non-profit.

We obtained a copy of the complaint for you here. It names the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) and Commissioner Margret Cooke as the defendants.

The US District Court for the District of Massachusetts will consider the case.

The complaint consists of nine counts against the DPH, citing violations of Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights (protections against unlawful searches, and rights pertaining to criminal and civil legal proceedings). Moreover, the DPH/Google activities are said to have violated Articles X and XIV of the Massachusetts Declaration of Rights.

According to the filing, the DPH teamed up with Google and proceeded to install spyware on more than one million phones in “auto-install” mode, without giving the users a chance to consent to this action, and even without informing them about it.”

EXCERPTS: “Gilead’s Remdesivir is a drug that has received a lot of criticism, and rightly so. Prior to the pandemic, the World Health Organisation rejected its use due to poor trial studies abroad. NIAID-sponsored trials had likewise documented troubling issues. Reported adverse events were significant:

In short, a plethora of studies indicated it had potentially bizarre and fatal effects depending on the patient’s health. Patients who had a multi-organ impairment, for example, exhibited detrimental impacts on their renal function after the drug was administered. The FDA, nonetheless, granted its use under Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) when a study showed it reduced COVID hospitalisation duration by 4 days.

From that point on, Remdesivir became part of every COVID-19 protocol across the country. Reports from 2020 have since revealed that if a vulnerable patient (aged 65 and over) came into a medical centre and tested positive, Remdesivir was the treatment most likely to be offered. That patient would then be placed or declared in the ICU as an inpatient.

Here is where the story turns very sinister.

According to local sources in California, hospitals that took on inpatient complex cases could charge up to 144x more than an outpatient case. As soon as they treated these patients within their facilities, they could apply for reimbursement from Medicare. In other words, there was a clear financial incentive for hospitals to “over-treat” patients to maximise profits.

With these reports now circulating, 14 Californian residents living in the Fresno area have filed lawsuits against various medical centres. These include Community Regional Medical Center, Clovis Community Medical Center, and St. Agnes Medical Center.

One plaintiff’s claim about a medical centre’s covid protocol is particularly reprehensible:”

  11. EXCERPT: “Could employees injured by a COVID-19 vaccine that was mandated by their employer get relief under the U.S. workers’ compensation program? Some lawyers think so — including three who spoke with The Defender about specific workers’ compensation strategies that may help private-sector employees who sustained COVID-19 vaccine injuries obtain financial relief.

The attorneys also suggested that the more people file claims for their COVID-19 vaccine injuries, the more employers — and their insurers — may feel pressure to reconsider employer-mandated vaccines in the future.

Noting that the number of workplace disability claims in the U.S. increased in early 2021 — the same time COVID-19 vaccines were rolling out — lawyers interviewed for this story detailed the steps involved, the benefits that may be available and the potential hurdles claimants may face, and how to overcome the challenges of locating a suitable attorney and doctor to assist with the claims.

In the U.S., the workers’ compensation program — available in all 50 states — provides an option for employees of companies and businesses that mandated COVID-19 vaccination. Filing a workers’ compensation claim doesn’t preclude an employee from filing claims via other legal channels. But it does provide the potential to receive immediate financial relief and medical treatment and also, possibly, long-term support.

Workers’ compensation provides possible recourse for vaccine-injured workers — The three attorneys — Ben Carlisle, Ray L. Flores II and Patrick R. Hollingsworth — are experienced in legal areas of relevance to those injured by the COVID-19 vaccines. Carlisle and Hollingsworth’s firms specialize in workers’ compensation claims, while Flores is experienced in issues of health freedom rights.

Flores told The Defender that workers’ compensation is “a much easier system to navigate” than the PREP Act (Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness Act) of 2005 or the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, which are the traditional avenues to submit claims related to vaccine injuries.

Flores said the PREP system is “impossible to get through,” which has led to a situation where “everybody thinks there’s nothing that can be done.” However, he said, “I’ve cited in several places [that] PREP does not preclude workers’ compensation.”

In an Aug. 24 interview with CHD.TV’s “Good Morning CHD,” Hollingsworth said this means that “if you were mandated to take the COVID vaccine as a condition of employment and you were injured, you are entitled to file a workers’ compensation claim.”

Carlisle noted that the two legal avenues are “not mutually exclusive, it’s not one or the other,” but that workers’ compensation claims are “an avenue that’s a lot easier right now.” Carlisle also pointed out that workers’ compensation “is a no-fault system” in states like New York, where he is licensed, “so there are a lot fewer hurdles you have to jump through.”

Carlisle said “no-fault” means that employers can’t hide behind claims that the government compelled them to issue a mandate: “That’s not a defense … It’s no-fault. I don’t have to prove it’s anyone’s fault. I don’t have to prove Pfizer was negligent. I don’t have to prove the employer was negligent. All I have to do [is] to prove that they were within the course and scope of their employment and they got injured and that their vaccination relates to that injury. That’s it.”

‘To ensure ecological safety and to maintain the ecological balance on the territory of Ukraine, to overcome the consequences of the Chornobyl catastrophe – a catastrophe of global scale, and to preserve the gene pool of the Ukrainian people, is the duty of the State.’

(Notice that they bury in a sub-clause the key assertion there, that “to preserve the gene pool of the Ukrainian people, is the duty of the State.” Hitler could have said the same thing; also, Israel’s constitution could have said it if Israel had had one, which — largely for that very reason — doesn’t exist. Mentioning “the Chernobyl catastrophe” is irrelevant in that context, but serves fools as being a reminder to them of that spectacular Soviet blunder and thus helps to conjure up in their unintelligent minds contempt against Russians — such as these nazi propagandists constantly seek to convey.)

This racist base of today’s Ukrainian nation has a deep history, which will here be documented by highlights from (excerpts of), and links to, two of the best (and I have carefully checked them out for accuracy) English-language online sources that have poured forth on the internet after U.S. President Barack Obama’s 2014 U.S. coup grabbed control over Ukraine’s Government and turned it 100% racist-fascist anti-Russian so that the U.S. will become enabled ultimately to position its nuclear missiles there, 300 miles away from Moscow):”

The decision means that Berkeley, California-headquartered UPSIDE Foods, formerly known as Memphis Meats, will be able to bring its “cultivated chicken” products to the market once it has been inspected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

According to its website, UPSIDE Foods is a food technology company founded in 2015 that aims to grow “sustainable cultured meat.” It cites investors including Bill Gates and Sir Richard Branson.
    ——————-
Following a “rigorous evaluation,” the FDA issued the company a “no questions” letter for its cultivated meat, poultry, or seafood, signaling that the agency has accepted UPSIDE’s conclusion that its cultivated chicken is safe to eat.

“We evaluated the information UPSIDE Foods submitted to the agency and have no further questions at this time about the firm’s safety conclusion,” the FDA said. “The FDA’s pre-market consultation with the firm included an evaluation of the firm’s production process and the cultured cell material made by the production process, including the establishment of cell lines and cell banks, manufacturing controls, and all components and inputs.”

While the agency found Upside Foods’ chicken safe to eat, the product is not yet approved to be sold.

“Instead, it means that after our careful evaluation of the data and information shared by the firm, we have no further questions at this time about the firm’s safety conclusion,” the FDA said.

UPSIDE Foods noted that the products they cultivate are not vegan or vegetarian, but are instead “delicious meat, made without the need to raise and slaughter billions of animals.”

  17. female student shares her story about male allowed in the girls’ locker room
    entire article
As a girl, I was taught to respect the privacy of my body, and to speak up if I felt unsafe or if something made me feel uncomfortable. Now I’m 14 and shocked to learn not all adults take you seriously when you say you don’t feel safe or comfortable. In fact, they may even punish you for speaking out.

That’s what happened to me when I said I didn’t think a teenage male should be allowed in the girls’ locker room where my teammates and I undress and change. I’m a private person when it comes to my body, even in the safety and comfort of home. But at school, apparently there’s no problem with a male student freely watching us girls change our clothes.

It was a conversation I had with some peers in French class that landed me in trouble with the officials at Randolph Union High School in Vermont. Someone overheard me telling my friends that a dude doesn’t belong in the girls’ locker room, and they reported me to the co-principals, even though the male student didn’t hear me and wasn’t in the class.

The controversy didn’t start in French class, though; it started when the school allowed a male who identifies as a girl to compete on our girls’ volleyball team. When the male student entered our locker room, we were changing. Some of us didn’t have a shirt on; others of us were only in our underwear. Naturally, some of us were uncomfortable and asked the student to leave, but we were ignored.
Blake Allen playing volleyball. The school opened her locker room to a biological male who identifies as a girl.

I was upset after the incident and called my mom to tell her about it. She and several other parents called the school administrators to express concerns about the male student being in the girls’ locker room. Not only did school officials make no attempt to provide us with any support or a workable solution, they made me the bad guy for saying that a teenage male shouldn’t be allowed to watch us girls undress.

Shouldn’t every girl be taught to speak out to protect herself from situations where she hasn’t given consent — and be listened to by those in a position to help? If something feels off, trust your gut? Not at my high school. If you don’t comply with the school’s preferred gender identity policy, you’re the bad guy. For expressing true, commonsense, biological facts — boys and girls are different and must respect each other’s bodily privacy — I was punished.

The school began an investigation into the comments I made in class and banned our entire girls’ volleyball team from using the girls’ locker room. The co-principals notified me that I was found guilty of harassment and bullying of “a student on the basis of the targeted student’s gender identity.” As punishment, school officials told me I must take part in a “restorative justice circle” with the equity coordinator, submit a “reflective essay,” and serve out-of-school suspension.

So, with the legal assistance of Alliance Defending Freedom, I sued the co-principals and Orange Southwest School District officials. On the same day that we filed suit, the superintendent rescinded the disciplinary actions against me.

But I wasn’t the only one to experience retaliation for stating a simple truth and wanting to be safe. My dad, Travis, was suspended from his coaching job for standing up for me. He expressed his views on a Facebook post, calling out the injustice of the male student being allowed to use our locker room and watch my teammates and I undress: “He got a free show, they got violated,” my dad wrote. And he was suspended from his position as the middle school girls’ soccer coach. So, my dad joined the lawsuit challenging the school’s unjust retaliation against us for speaking freely — for speaking truth.

Instead of sticking up for the safety and privacy of girls, the school administrators are sticking to their preferred view of gender identity and will unfairly target anyone who dares to think differently. The school must respect my dad’s and my free speech rights to express a commonsense view that this student is male and shouldn’t be allowed in the girls’ locker room.

It’s school officials’ job to ensure every student feels safe at school. And it’s their job to listen to and respect our views, not silence us for speaking out to defend ourselves.

  18. “The Titanic Fox News Finally Hits The Trump Iceberg! The Murdochs can’t sink Donald Trump but they can certainly sink their media empire”

    Emerald Robinson

Entire Article: “Rupert Murdoch, the ancient Australian media mogul, recently took time off from dumping his fourth wife — by email no less! — to sternly warn the American public that his media empire would not support another run for president by Donald Trump.

A News Corp source leaked Murdoch’s position to other media outlets with great fanfare: “We have been clear with Donald. There have been conversations. Rupert made it clear to Donald we cannot back another run for the White House.”

To hammer home the point, the New York Post — owned by Murdoch of course — ran with a cover depicting Trump as Humpty Dumpty.

Meanwhile, another Murdoch media property — the Wall Street Journal — ran six op-eds targeting Trump on the same day.

The problem for the 91 year-old Murdoch is that, outside the halls of News Corp, most Americans were unaware that he was still alive and eating solid food. He still fancies himself to be the dominant force in conservative media, but is that really true? It’s not the 1980s anymore. The credibility of Fox News was fatally damaged by its early Arizona call for Biden in the 2020 election — damage which Murdoch has apparently acknowledged. Some of Murdoch’s kids are Clinton staff-level shitlibs pretending to be “disinformation commissars” at the Aspen Institute. The elder Murdoch chose Tony Blair as the godfather to one of his own kids by an alleged Chinese communist spy— and what makes that absurd decision even more embarrassing is that Tony Blair was doing the business with Murdoch’s wife.

Does any of this sound conservative to you?

It does not — because Murdoch and his family line have become cosmopolitan neoliberal grifters. Their political opinions are quoted with approval by woke outlets like Vanity Fair — but that’s not exactly the GOP’s key demographic. Their executives in New York have pronouns (“them/their!”) in their bios. They place uniparty swamp creatures like Paul Ryan on the board of directors for Fox News — even though he’s now working part-time for the Clintons at Teneo! They hire famous male athletes dressed in drag, and then stick them on Sean Hannity’s show to queer up Fox News. They even celebrate chemically castrating children during “LBGT Pride Month.”

The Murdochs are playing a game of high-stakes chicken with their media empire’s audience.

The dwindling politicial influence of the Murdochs is part and parcel of the GOP establishment’s own crisis. They both stand against Trump — but they don’t stand for anything else. What’s worse is that everybody knows that neither of them really speaks for GOP voters anymore. They don’t represent them. They don’t understand them. They certainly don’t control them.

The GOP is Trump’s party now. That’s why the Murdochs have to do six op-eds targeting Trump on one day. That’s why they need to coordinate the pot shots aimed at the 45th President across their various media platforms. They’re shouting is proof that no one’s listening anymore.

President Trump’s connection with GOP voters was not created by the Murdochs, and so it cannot be shattered by the Murdochs. In fact, Trump’s appeal is based upon publicly taking the side of working class Americans against neoliberal globalists like the Murdochs. That’s why the attacks by the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post and Fox News are ultimately doomed to failure. They merely confirm that Trump has earned the genuine animosity of our corporate media elites, which elevates Trump with his audience.

The whining of the Murdoch media empire is, in other words, the wind beneath Trump’s wings.

That’s why the comedian Dave Chappelle understands American politics much better than Rupert Murdoch does. Chappelle has grasped why Donald Trump is adored by working class American people in a way that frustrates the conventional tactics of our corrupt political and media elites.

The Murdochs are not going to destroy Donald Trump — they’re going to destroy their media empire by trying to destroy Donald Trump.”

REPORT: Pennsylvania Voters File Lawsuit to DELAY CERTIFICATION of Election Results in Delaware County…

    **********

Delco Ballots Allegedly Detoured From Counting Center

    Excerpt:

Physical ballots and v-drives were reportedly taken to a closed building without observers present and kept there for six hours before being taken to the counting center. This would shatter the chain of custody along with breaking the law that the ballots go directly to the counting center.

The plaintiffs say they can further show the county mailed official ballots to unverified voters and deleted at least 2,778 records of requests for mail-in ballots.

  21. the gov elect arrests former dem campaign consultant for wide scale voter fraud…HOW IRONIC
    FTA

Democratic Pennsylvania Governor-elect Josh Shapiro charged a former campaign consultant Wednesday with “wide scale” voter fraud, according to authorities.

Philadelphia political consultant Rasheen Crews was arrested Wednesday and charged with forging signatures on nomination petitions so that he could get his Democratic clients on the ballot during the 2019 primary races in the city, Shapiro’s office announced.

“In advance of the 2023 municipal elections, this arrest is an important reminder that interfering with the integrity of our elections is a serious crime,” Shapiro said in a statement. “By soliciting and organizing the wide scale forgery of signatures, the defendant undermined the democratic process and Philadelphians’ right to a free and fair election. My office is dedicated to upholding the integrity of the election process across the Commonwealth, to ensure everyone can participate in Pennsylvania’s future.”

EXCERPT: “Hungary, Austria, and Serbia have agreed to establish a joint border defense force to deal with a spiraling migrant crisis that has seen all three countries overrun and struggling to prevent more border violations. At a Belgrade summit, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, and Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer hammered out the details of a joint border protection force and called on the European Union for aid.

“Serbia’s membership in the European Union is in Europe’s interest, and it would be much easier to protect Serbia against migration if Serbia were also a member of the European Union,” Orbán said after the Belgrade summit.

The Hungarian prime minister met with his Serbian and Austrian counterparts on Wednesday to strengthen border protection cooperation between the three countries, according to Hungarian news outlet Magyar Hirlap. At a press conference following the meeting, Orbán stressed that Serbia is a key country for European security, as when it protects its own borders, it also protects the entire European Union.”
    ————–
“The EU system has failed. The individual member states are forced to find partners to fight illegal migration,” the Austrian chancellor said, referring to the fact that close cooperation has been established with Serbia and Hungary in this field.

Nehammer added that Austria will send an additional 100 police officers to the Serbian border and provide drones and vehicles as well.”
