Personal 2 Minutes

The other evening, on an episode of Last Man Standing, Tim Allen’s wife, Vanessa was discussing her favorite Thanksgiving tradition—the gratitude list.  She encouraged everyone in her family to add items (big or small) to the list—anything they were grateful for.  They would then share the list before they enjoyed their Thanksgiving meal. I was inspired to do the same.

As I sat to make my list, at first it seemed daunting—the country is a mess!  Inflation, corruption, rampant crime, impending nuclear war!  Sigh…not much to be grateful for there. So, I took a deep calming breath and started again.  This time I forced myself to look beyond all that mess and saw a veritable cornucopia of wonderous things to be grateful for.

There are the BIG THINGS…

            There is God.

            There is my husband.

            There is my family.

            There is my home.

There are my friends…

            Friends who make me laugh.

            Friends who inspire me.

            Friends who share their stories and listen to mine.

            Friends who keep me sane.

There are daily indulgences…

            Like smelling fresh cut grass, bacon frying, and cinnamon buns baking.

            Like hearing a child laugh, and the words I love you whispered in my ear.

            Like leaves changing colors, babies smiling, and bolts of colorful fabric.

            Like tasting freshly grilled steak, sweet watermelon or my hubby’s coffee.

And then there’s politics…

            I’m grateful Nancy Pelosi is not twins.

            I’m grateful Joe Biden spends so much time away from Washington.

            I’m grateful Hillary Clinton did not win in 2016.

            I’m grateful Donald J. Trump is an America First fighter!!

    well I shoveled snow already this morning…LOL
    had to get to the satellite dish to get the snow off of it, so we can have internet.
    we got about 3-4 inches out of the storm…I’m ready for spring!

    1. Morning, Pat! I woke up to a couple of inches of snow, with it still falling. Jake went bonkers so I looked out on the front porch and saw footprints in the snow. I didn’t see LM but I put a bowl of food out for him……or whoever…..17 outside right now. Forecast has been modified – only 1 night upcoming with single digit temps….or so they say.

      As for Trump’s announcement – meh……frankly, I surfed thru and watched bits and pieces of it and turned it off after his announcement. I’ve never enjoyed listening to his disjointed speeches. Just as I expected – nothing we didn’t figure was coming. And I sure didn’t catch ANYTHING about fixing the voter fraud!!!! We CANNOT move forward until that is accomplished – period!

    Trump got his mojo back 2nite. I was apprehensive he’d announce while GA Senate race in play, but he urged ppl to go vote for @HerschelWalker & Trump speech was pitch perfect–he focused on the American ppl and the future, not the past. If he stays on this path, he’s unbeatable.

        but what was lacking from the repubs was their vision of the future…they said what they were against–but not what they saw for the people going forward…

    1. I think this is what I like most about Trump – I am exactly the same way, altho not as focused on retribution as he is……I simply cut them out of my life and avoid them at all costs in the future. I refuse to lower myself to their level just to “get even.”

    Joe Biden is trying to prevent President Trump from ever running for office. Makes it easier for him that way, given that he plans to run himself, and in any case, he’s also motivated by Trump’s impeachment call to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky which revolved around investigating the corrupt doings of Biden’s debauched son, Hunter. But mostly, he just wants to stop his political competition, which is a dictator’s move if there ever was one.

    Biden’s denied such an aim in the past, but a few days ago, he dropped the fig leaf at the White House following the G-7 summit and went full frontal:

    THE PRESIDENT: Well, we just have to demonstrate that he will not take power by — if we — if he does run. I’m making sure he, under legitimate efforts of our Constitution, does not become the next President again.

    What the hell are the ‘legitimate efforts of our Constitution’? He sounds as though he thinks the thing has legs?

    And what’s with this “making sure” Trump won’t run? How does he “make sure”? Is the fix in?

    Now that he’s “making sure,” on Trump, it’s pretty obvious that these actions have been all about preventing a potential rival from running for office.

    The only thing a sane voter can take from such remarks is that he thinks it’s his job to make our voting decisions for us. In a normal representative democracy, if Trump is the right man for the job, we will vote for him. If he’s not, we will vote for someone else. Biden’s bid to stop Trump is really an attempt to stop us from voting for Trump, which is dictatorship in democracy’s clothing. It’s none of his business who we vote for.

    Biden in fact seems to be emboldened by the ongoing rigging in the system, which kept many Republicans out of power in a wave year on very questionable activities in the voting apparatus. Now, he is now taking the electoral rigging to new levels with this tyrannical remark.

    Robert Spencer at Frontpage magazine has an interesting analysis about what kind of dictators do this sort of thing here.

    The remark does represent a break from his previous claims that his Justice Department’s actions against him have nothing to do with politics, and are just simple matter of law and order. He claimed he was never in the loop on activities such as the FBI raid on Trump’s personal residence at Mar-a-Lago and only read about it in the news. Here was his September inteview with 60 Minutes:

    Scott Pelley: Have you been briefed, sir, on the top-secret documents that were found at Mar-a-Lago?

    President Joe Biden: No.

    Scott Pelley: No one has come to you to warn you that important national security secrets were revealed by the storage of those documents at the former president’s home?

    President Joe Biden: I have not personally spoken to anyone on that — in that regard. I’m sure my administration is aware of all of that, and so is the National Security Council. But I have not.

    Scott Pelley: Were you notified of the FBI’s execution of a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago?

    President Joe Biden: No. Not ahead of time.

    And it turns out he did know all about it all along, based on a note from a federal judge (boldface mine), who wrote:

    On May 10, 2022, NARA informed Plaintiff that it would proceed with “provid[ing] the FBI access to the records in question, as requested by the incumbent President, beginning as early as Thursday, May 12, 2022.” [citation]

    Now we learn that he’s busy “making sure” that Trump, his potential rival, can never run for president against his sorry self.

    Obviously, Joe is obsessed with Trump even at this late day and age.

    He seems to have taken a page from Hugo Chavez or Vladimir Putin, both of whom have eliminated potential election rivals by throwing them in jail. Or, like Mexico’s perfect dictatorship, Mexico under one-party PRI rule, he’s looking to completely discredit, destroy and exile the guy who came before him.

    That the fix is in pretty well gives President Trump grounds to call for dismissal of the all the charges against him, now that we know that Joe has explicitly stated that he is trying to stop Trump from running for office with his legal maneuvers.

    If justice worked correctly, it indeed would be good news for President Trump.

    Regardless of the quality of our justice, though, the whole statement is beneath the office of the presidency and belongs in the annals of Hitler and his ilk, as Spencer aptly noted. Biden made his fascist speech at Independence Hall not too long ago. Now he’s going after his dissidenting rivals and not even trying to disguise it anymore.

    best days of the season…hubby called out to tell me look out the window…a beautiful buck by the woodpile…as we watched 3 MORE buck emerged from the woods…2 8’s, a 7 and one spiker in total. they were all staring up the mountain so I went upstairs to see what they were staring at…a doe–INSIDE the grapevine fence! LOL
    and 2 more larger buck were patrolling the woods back there waiting for her to leave the fenced in area. she paid them no never mind…lol…
    eventually the bucks got wind of each other and headed towards each other…she took that as her opportunity to JUMP over the FRONT of the fence and get away…LOL

    gosh they are fun to watch!
    as she made her way down the path into the woods…we counted 6 bucks heading in her direction…

        1. It’s closer to $5 in the local grocery store here – it does cost them more, I get that but still…..then again, there are a lot of people around here who have their own eggs. Up until a few years ago, I was buying them from a couple of people I know here – until the foxes and/or coyotes got their chickens.

    The declaration of a ‘public health emergency’ has been used as a rationale to suspend the rule of law for nearly three years. The Biden administration has referred to the state of emergency as a pretext for suspending student loan payments, as well as its unconstitutional rent moratorium.

    President Biden has threatened to veto any congressional efforts to end the national emergency declaration’s status, according to a statement from the Office of Management and Budget.

    Ending the declaration would weaken the federal government’s ability to respond to Covid-19 surges, the OMB claimed.

    “Preserving our ability to respond is more important than ever as we head into the winter, when respiratory illnesses such as Covid-19 typically spread more easily,” the statement said. “Strengthened by the ongoing declaration of national emergency, the federal response to Covid-19 continues to save lives, improve health outcomes, and support the American economy.”

    However, as the CDC earlier pointed out, over 95% of Americans have some form of protection to Covid-19. The currently predominant BA.4 and BA.5 variants are far less deadly than earlier strains, and an estimated 97% of Americans have natural immunity from prior infection, according to CDC data.

    The White House has nonetheless asked for $10 billion in funding for the Covid response.

    “Biden officials finalized a request this week for about $10 billion in public health funds by year’s end, part of a larger request in the lame-duck session of Congress that would also include funding for Ukraine and disaster relief for hurricane damage in Florida, according to six people who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe confidential budget discussions,” the Washington Post reported.

    House Democrats Try To Block Trump From Running For President

    House Democrats are attempting to block former President Donald Trump from running in the 2024 presidential election by invoking a constitutional amendment, according to Politico.

    Democratic Rep. David Cicilline circulated a letter among other House Democrats urging them to back legislation that would invoke the 14th Amendment to stop Trump from running in the 2024 election, arguing that his challenged to the 2020 election and actions preceding the Jan. 6 Capitol riots render him ineligible, according to a report by Politico. The 14th Amendment bars anyone who has engaged in an “insurrection or rebellion” from holding certain public offices, including the presidency.

    “[No person] shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability,” the amendment reads.

    Following the protest at the Capitol on Jan. 6, Trump has adamantly denied a part in instigating the event; he was subpoenaed to testify before the Jan. 6 committee in October, though he never testified, filing a lawsuit to prevent his appearance before the committee.

    Imagine this – you buy a broken down home that has termites, mold, asbestos, water damage, no working electricity, and a bunch of dangerous criminals that refuse to leave

    Do you send in the home builder to start repairs on top of the existing rot who will have to obey what the criminals want him to do?

    Or do you send in the experienced demo man first to level the place and leave a clean foundation for the builder to expand upon?

    So I hear McConnell just won the Republican Senate Leadership election. Wasn’t even close. We have McCarthy, McConnell and Ronna McDaniel will probably get re-elected to head the RNC.

    They really listen to their voters don’t they-infuriating!

    We do need to start a new movement within the Republican Party now to target RINOs to primary. Get a MAGA National Committee and raise money to fight these RINOs. Maybe if they see there is a huge momentum within the party against what they do they may stop thumbing their nose at us.

    Don’t know. Next two years will be difficult
