Plimoth Plantation

I was researching the web for details about the first Thanksgiving and came across this website for an Inn (The Captain’s Manor Inn) that advertises for the Plimoth Plantation in Massachusetts:

Travel back in time to the 1620’s at one of the country’s most popular living history museums: Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth, MA!

We’ve all heard the legends of the Pilgrims landing at Plymouth Rock and the first Thanksgiving. Now you can learn the real stories – and so much more – behind one of America’s first settlements. Plimoth Plantation offers an immersive recreation of a 17th-century English Village.

The living history museum recreates 7 and a half months of 1627 every year. The exhibit includes actors portraying historical residents in a painstakingly researched and reconstructed environment. Even the livestock are heritage breeds.

The museum has been in operation since 1947 and includes a colonial village with a fort, water-powered mill, and barns. You can also visit a Wampanoag village and a replica of the Mayflower! Best of all, it’s all just a little over a half-hour’s drive from our Falmouth bed and breakfast, The Captain’s Manor Inn!

Exploring Plimoth

When you visit the 17th-Century English Village at Plimoth Plantation, you’ll feel as if you’ve tumbled through a hole in time. The careful attention to detail and character is completely immersive and truly stunning. You have to experience it to believe it!

The village is filled with modest timber-framed houses and costumed, accented role-players. The homes and many characters you meet represent historical residents of Plymouth Colony. The homes have thatched roofs and include typical furnishings of the time, gardens, and functioning kitchens. Don’t be surprised to discover a pot bubbling away on the fire.

Costumed interpreters act as your intermediary, explaining daily village life and answering any questions you might have. The two-story fort guarding the entrance to the village provides an excellent view of the surrounding area and is a great place for a photo.

Barns at the plantation are home to historic breeds of cows, goats, sheep, chickens, and turkeys. In fact, Plimoth Plantation is part of a global effort to save these old and endangered breeds.

Wampanoag Homesite

The plantation is also home to a recreation of a Wampanoag Homesite that was in the area at the time.

The homesite includes traditional “wetu” huts made of wattle and daub. Staff at the Homesite wear traditional Wampanoag dress. They also demonstrate time honored crafts and activities, such as baking cornmeal cakes wrapped in grape leaves in the embers of a fire.

Unlike the actors at the English Village, however, the staff here are not role-players. Instead, these real indigenous people speak from a modern perspective about their tribe’s history and culture.

The Mayflower II

While in the area, you can also visit the Mayflower II, a full-scale reproduction of the ship the Pilgrims sailed to Plymouth in 1620. The Mayflower II was built in Devon, England in the 1950’s. The faithful replica includes solid oak timbers, tarred hemp rigging, and hand-colored maps.

The ship is just a short drive away in Plymouth Harbor, near Pilgrim Memorial State Park. You’ll marvel at how over 100 people managed to live in this tiny space at sea for more than 10 weeks!

The Mayflower II has been away for restoration but will return to Plymouth Harbor in time for the 400th anniversary during Memorial Day Weekend, 2020.

The plantation is located on Warren Avenue in Plymouth, MA and is open 9am to 5pm seasonally, from mid-March through the end of November.

    1. IDK what the heck is going on…..for the longest time, I could NOT get this to open for me! It wasn’t until I scrolled down and saw that there were comments…..I clicked on that and it finally opened! Really screwy – something weird is going on at M’s, too. Funky chit on a Monday morning!

Not as cold here last night – 24 at the moment and, thankfully, no wind at the moment. What little snow we got was gone by mid-afternoon once the sun came out. BTW, I scheduled Part 4 for the 29th.

Why Trump is going after Youngkin (will people never learn?):
    https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump

Never felt good about Winsome Sears. Always thought she was a phony. Now I find out she is. When I helped Youngkin with his race, Endorsed him, and made a Statewide TeleRally with hundreds of thousands of people on the call, he wrote me a very nice letter thanking me for the help, and then went on to say, “How to win without Trump.” MAGA showed up big, but wasn’t appreciated. Sorry, Winsome, and Glenn, but we can’t let that happen!

“Twitter has suspended Law or Fiction, a group dedicated to those who have been impacted by the UK government’s response to Covid-19. The group advocates for citizens, lawyers, and medical professionals.

The Law or Fiction account was maintained by British Lawyer Stephen Jackson who, in an open video, addressed new Twitter CEO Elon Musk and said that Twitter gave no reason for the ban that happened this week. “I don’t know the reasons for it. There was no strike system warning me of the closure,” Jackson said in the video.

“All I can tell you is that I had linked to the authorization of the bivalent Covid-19 vaccine, so-called, for children aged 12 and upwards. I put the words ‘vaccine’ in inverted commas. I referred to ‘experimental’ – and that seems fair enough given that this has not been trialed on humans and if we give new technology to animals we call it experimental…We don’t know the long-term effects of the technology – that’s something with Pfizer itself admits,” Jackson explained. “So quite what the misinformation was I don’t know,” Jackson added. “What this seems to be is an attack on comment, on debate.”

Jackson called out Elon Musk specifically, saying, he “understood” Musk to be keen on comment and debate and on “free speech,” saying he’s not going to get to Mars by suppressing “debate about the science.”

Jackson concluded, “This should not be happening on Twitter. It’s an important forum for public debate. It must remain so. I needs to be there to protect free speech and democracy.”

  12. DOJ raids home of Area 51 website owner — Allegedly held at gunpoint.
    By Cindy Harper
    Posted 3:14 pm [yesterday]

“The Department of Justice sent federal agents to the home of Joerg Arnu, a Rachel, Nevada, resident who runs a website dedicated to information about Area 51. He described the experience as “humiliating,” adding that the feds “held his girlfriend at gunpoint.”

Local news reporter George Knapp broke the news on Twitter, writing, “FBI agents came down hard on the operator of a popular website devoted to all things Area 51-its programs, lore, and legacy. More than a dozen agents served a no-knock warrant on the Rachel, NV home of Joerg Arnu, owner of http://dreamlandresort.com.”

The website’s description reads: “Monitoring Area 51 since 1999: Take an inside look at Area 51, a.k.a. Dreamland, the world’s most famous secret Air Base. For 20 years and counting Dreamland Resort has been the most comprehensive source for information on Area 51, Black Projects, the Nellis Ranges, TTR, and the ET Highway. The webmaster is a 25-year Area 51 Research veteran and a resident of Rachel, NV, right outside the gates of Area 51.”

“Last Thursday very early in the morning my homes in Rachel and in Vegas were searched by a combined team of FBI and AF OSI (Department of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations). I will spare you the details but it got quite tense and humiliating for me in Rachel and for my girlfriend in Vegas. All my laptops, phones, memory sticks, cameras, drones, and other items were seized,” he wrote on his message board.

“I lost ALL my data, medical files, financial and tax records, passwords, everything. On top of that, I am stuck with thousands in cost for repairs and replacement of the most essential electronics and expected legal fees.”

Knapp reported that the agents “held his girlfriend at gunpoint.” Arnu added that he had taken down some content: “To the best of my knowledge I have not broken the law. The search warrants are not very specific but aerial photos of Area 51 and other installations came up repeatedly. So I have taken those down for now to defuse the situation.”

“I am concerned that overzealous government agents may use bogus charges against me to ‘send a message.’ Putting the truth out there can not hurt,” he concluded.

Arnu is the fifth journalist to be raided since Biden-appointee Merrick Garland took over the DOJ. Last month, the DOJ released a memo announcing significant revisions to the Justice Department’s regulations regarding obtaining information from, or records of, members of the news media including “limited specified circumstances” where the DOJ does not need to follow due process to obtain information.”

  13. Going after even more journalists!!!

EXCERPT: “The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has demanded the dropping of wiretapping charges against the editor of a news outlet based in Ohio. Under the Ohio Revised Code, wiretapping is a fourth-degree felony, carrying a fine of up to $5,000 and a maximum prison sentence of 18 months.

“Judge Randy Deering made an order before the trial started that any witnesses, including co-defendants who wanted to ‘opt out’ of being filmed by the news media could do so. Jake Wagner chose not to be recorded by the news media, however, any member of the public could attend the court proceeding and hear his testimony in person. Cell phones and laptops were banned from the courtroom, as well. Midway through Jake Wagner’s testimony, the Guardian’s editor sued the presiding Judge, Randy Deering in the Fourth District Court of Appeals seeking the higher court’s intervention to allow the news media to record Wagner’s confession on the stand. Initially, the district court ordered Deering to allow the recording of witnesses unless he showed cause that the witness’ testimony being filmed could jeopardize the fairness of the trial. In a blow to the higher court win, Deering ruled that if Jake Wagner was to be on camera he might be ‘nervous’ and not tell the truth, and it could jeopardize the fairness of the trial. Therefore, he remained off camera without audio.”

On Friday, the Guardian published a condensed version of Jake Wagner’s testimony that occurred on his first day on the stand, including audio that was provided to the news media by a third party. The article was written by Myers.

In the article, Myers wrote, “The Guardian received a portion of Jake Wagner’s testimony on his first day on the witness stand. The Guardian wants to disclose that the audio was not recorded by a member of the media and was submitted to the Guardian’s newsroom by a courthouse source who is authorized to have their cell phone in the room.”

The Pike County Sheriff charged Derek Myers, the editor-in-chief of Scioto Valley Guardian, with wiretapping on October 31, after the outlet published audio from a murder trial. A search warrant to seize the outlet’s streaming equipment was signed on October 28 and was valid for three days. But the equipment was confiscated on November 1 and Myers’ iPhone, which he used for work, was seized on November 2. The equipment, which is yet to be returned, was confiscated after the search warrant expired.”

    1. Bear in mind, this is AP reporting – from October 19:

“PHOENIX (AP) — A voter registration error may have caused some Arizona voters to get a mail ballot with only federal races, Secretary of State Katie Hobbs said Tuesday.

A problem with the link between voter registration and driver’s license databases may have caused as many as 6,000 voters to be improperly flagged as lacking proof of citizenship documentation on file. Election officials are sifting through the list to determine how many of the 6,000 were improperly flagged.

Approximately 1,000 of them received a mail ballot without local races, but it’s too soon to know how many of those should have received a full ballot, state Elections Director Kori Lorick said Wednesday. The others did not request a mail ballot but could vote in person.

Hobbs has staked her campaign for governor largely on her staunch defense of the 2020 election in the face of criticism from former President Donald Trump and his allies. Her Republican rival, former television news anchor Kari Lake, has spread Trump’s unsupported claims of fraud two years ago and has called on Hobbs to step aside from overseeing the midterms while she’s on the ballot.

When people register to vote in Arizona or update their registration, an election system queries Motor Vehicle Division records to verify whether the person has proven their citizenship. Those who don’t have citizenship documentation on file are not eligible to vote in state elections and are registered as “federal only” voters. Lorick said the driver’s license query failed to properly verify the citizenship for some people, leading them to be improperly registered as federal only voters.

Federal only voters have been a subject of political wrangling since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2013 that Arizona cannot require documentary proof of citizenship for people to vote in national elections. The state responded by creating two classes of voters — those who can vote in all races and those who can vote only in federal elections.

Hobbs said in her statement that the problem affected less than a quarter of 1 percent of voters. She said the database problem has been corrected. Anyone who got the wrong ballot will be contacted and given the correct ballot, Lorick said. If they vote the truncated ballot, it will be sequestered and the voter will get a chance to cast a full ballot before polls close on Election Day.

“Only one ballot per voter will ever be counted,” Lorick said.
      ___
This story has been updated with new information from the Secretary of State’s Office indicating only about 1,000 of the 6,000 potentially affected voters received a mail ballot.”

“The father of 17-year-old Ethan Liming is speaking out after the three suspects who allegedly beat his son to death in Akron, Ohio on June 2 were indicted on lesser manslaughter charges for the teen’s demise instead of murder. Bill Liming told local ABC News, “When I asked Brian LoPrinzi in the initial prosecutor’s meeting I had with him, I asked him if race made a difference, if my son’s skin color made a difference in the way in which they are approaching it, and he said ‘yes.'”

    https://rumble.com/v1eiavx-august-2-2022.html

Brian LoPrinzi is part of the Chief Criminal Division with the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office.

“I naively believed that once the people who murdered my son were caught that the justice system would simply handle things. We’ve said all along we were confident when the facts of the case were presented that Ethan would receive justice.” “The people who have the power to stand up for my son are not doing it, so it’s up to me as a father to speak for my son who cannot speak for himself,” Liming added.

Liming was found beaten to death in the parking lot of Lebron James’ I Promise School according to the Akron Police Department and died from blunt force trauma to his head. The three men who beat Liming were originally charged with murder and held on a million-dollar bond each. After the beating and while Liming was bleeding to death, the three stole his car and prevented his friends from taking Liming to the hospital.

The defendants said they felt like “they were in the right” to steal Liming’s vehicle and have placed the blame for the events of the night on Liming and his friends, who they allege were driving around and dousing people with a water-bead gun.

According to the Akron Beacon Journal, chief counsel for the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office Brad Gessner, said that facts were discovered that led to the reduced charge and that information “can’t be made public” and authorities have maintained that race was not a factor in the death, but Liming says he was given different information.

“I would like to believe race doesn’t play a role in this. I’m married to a Filipino woman. She’s got Black cousins. When we get together for extended family gatherings for birthdays, graduation parties for holidays, we’re a beautiful picture of what we hope to be a society,” Liming said before mentioning what LoPrinzi said about race factoring in the murder. Ethan Liming was an honor roll student and athlete who court documents say was shooting a Splatrball Water Bead Blaster at strangers with his friends as part of a TikTok challenge.

Authorities originally said that Liming, who would have been a senior at Firestone Community Learning Center in the Fall, was playing basketball on the school court with a group of at least three other males. Those reports said a fight broke out in the school parking lot and Liming was found dead at the scene around 11 pm that night.”

Austin Killips, who identifies as a transgender woman, won Saturday’s UCI Elite Women’s division of the cycling event.

    https://rumble.com/vqykcl-female-athlete-speaks-out-against-competing-with-biological-males.html

Killips came in first with a time of 50 minutes, 25 seconds. The second-place finisher, and first among biological women, was Ava Holmgren, with a time of 50 minutes and 26 seconds. Placing third was Lizzy Gunwales, with a time of 50 minutes, 31 seconds.

Cyclocross is a non-Olympic style of race that involves mixed, closed-circuit races consisting of off-road and on-road elements, as well as running over obstacles and technical sections. UCI, or Union Cycliste Internationale, released new guidance in regards to transgender athletes earlier this year, changing the time frame for biological male athletes to display low levels of testosterone, and including a lower maximum permitted plasma testosterone level.

UCI guidelines has now increased “the transition period on low testosterone from 12 to 24 months.” The sports governing body has also lowered the maximum permitted plasma testosterone level from 5 nmol/L to 2.5 mol/L. “This value corresponds to the maximum testosterone level found in 99.99 percent of the female population,” UCI noted in June.

An article published in Cycling Tips in October chalked Killips’ wins in the sport to Killips’ “analytical approach,” rather than Killips’ biological male upbringing. Cycling Tips reported: “She treats the sport as a study, watching the footage back of her races every weekend to see where she can improve. But there is also a lot of time involved in preparation for the events that are still so new to Killips.”

“I approach the sport scientifically. I am a student of the sport,” Killips said. “You need to have an affinity and passion for it to be spending so much time watching races and analyzing. Observation is a huge part of getting better. There are many resources like the course previews and years of coverage of racing.”

According to Cross Results, over the course of Killips’ 3-year span of racing, Killips has come in first in 17 of 57 races. Including first place finishes, Killips has come in the top 50 percent of finishers in 47 races.”

  18. Entire Article @ PJMedia: “With Democrats outperforming expectations on Tuesday, many see Biden as being emboldened to run for election in 2024 — despite being in an advanced state of fossilization. Biden’s 2024 plans remain a big fat question mark, and he’s reportedly going to make a decision early next year. But one Republican strategist thinks there’s an alternative game plan for Biden: replace Kamala Harris with Gavin Newsom and then resign.

Douglas MacKinnon, who worked in the Reagan and Bush 41 administrations, argues that Biden and Harris’s unpopularity makes this a viable strategy for the Democrats if they want to hold onto the White House. MacKinnon argues that because Newsom exceeded expectations, his reelection in California was some tour de force and the Democrats’ bests hope of holding the White House.

I’m not sure how he reached the conclusion, but apparently, he thinks Newsom is the polished turd the Democrats need. “Republicans can write off Newsom all they want as the politician who ‘ruined’ California. The fact is, he is a proven vote-getter and has a formidable Democratic machine behind him,” MacKinnon writes. “Might the Democrats leapfrog him into the Oval Office before 2024? It would be political malpractice for them not to consider the option.”

I think that’s ridiculous. California has been a solid blue state for most of my life, and Newsom won reelection by a smaller margin there than Gov. Ron DeSantis did in Florida — which has been a bellwether swing state for most of my life.

But the bigger problem with MacKinnon’s scenario is that there isn’t a chance that Joe Biden would cut Kamala Harris loose. Yes, she’s all sorts of horrible and terribly unpopular, but Joe Biden has banked so much of his presidential legacy on compensating for his being an old white guy and isn’t about to jettison a black woman in favor of another white dude. I don’t care how unpopular she is; that’s just not going to happen. If a vice presidential swap were to happen, Biden would sooner pick another woman or an African-American before choosing a younger version of himself.”

The shooting was reported around 10:30 p.m. Sunday when officers responded to shots fired in the Culbreth parking garage. A campus-wide alert was issued and a shelter in place order was given.

Authorities say Jones Jr. is a former UVA football player and a current student. He was last seen wearing a burgundy jacket/hoodie, blue jeans and red shoes. Police said he could be driving a black SUV with Virginia tag TWX3580.

Officers say Jones is considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911 immediately and not approach him.

University of Virginia President Jim Ryan canceled classes Monday and said only designated essential employees should report to work.

“I am holding the victims, their families, and all members of the University of Virginia community in my heart today, and we will make plans to come together as a community to grieve as soon as the suspect is apprehended,” Ryan said. Ryan said the UVA Emergency Hotline at 877-685-4836 can be used to establish contact with family members or friends who are on campus grounds.

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin issued a statement saying they are praying for the school community.

Entire Article @ q13Fox: “MOSCOW, Idaho – Four students at the University of Idaho were found dead on Sunday at a home near the campus, prompting authorities to launch a homicide investigation. Officers with the local Moscow Police Department first responded to a report of an unconscious person just before noon when they discovered the deaths, according to a press release from the city.

Police have called the deaths suspected homicides, which generally means the killing of one person by another, though the term doesn’t necessarily suggest death was intended or committed in a criminal manner. Authorities did not release additional details, including the cause of death. Police said more information would be shared once family members were notified of the deaths.

“It is with deep sadness that I share with you that the university was notified today of the death of four University of Idaho students living off-campus believed to be victims of homicide,” University of Idaho President Scott Green said in a statement posted Sunday night on social media. “Out of respect for these fellow Vandals, classes statewide and online are canceled Monday, Nov. 14.”

The university said counselors would be available for students at the campus counseling center, while employees could access assistance through an employee assistance program. Green urged people to reach out if they were concerned about classmates or coworkers.

“An event of this magnitude can understandably have significant impacts on those left behind,” Green wrote. “As Vandals, we must come together and lift each other up.”

Shortly after the bodies were found, the university advised students to shelter in place for about an hour until investigators determined there was “no ongoing threat” to others in the region. The Moscow Police Department said the investigation was ongoing and asked people with information to call the department. The city of Moscow is a close-knit college town nestled in the rolling hills of north-central Idaho, about 80 miles southeast of Spokane, Washington.

Meanwhile, students at the University of Virginia were also reeling from a shooting on Sunday night that left three people dead and two others injured. Authorities on Monday were still searching for a student and former football player who was a suspect.”

“The Republican candidate for governor of Pennsylvania, Doug Mastriano, has conceded the race to his Democratic opponent Josh Shapiro. on Sunday, while calling for election results to be counted faster.

In a statement posted to Twitter, Mastriano, who former President Donald Trump endorsed, said the results of the midterm elections had not gone the way Republicans had hoped and “fought so hard for.”

Shapiro was projected as the winner in the race for governor late on election night by NBC News. The Associated Press also called the race in favor of Shapiro on election night, when Shapiro had 54.42 percent of the vote, or 2,571,668 votes, and Mastriano 43.74 percent. As of Sunday, Shapiro has 56.3 percent of the vote compared to Mastriano’s 41.9 percent.

“We gave this race everything we have,” Mastriano said. “Difficult to accept as the results are, there is no right course but to concede, which I do, and I look to the challenges ahead. Josh Shapiro will be our next governor, and I ask everyone to give him the opportunity to lead and pray that he leads well.”

Mastriano’s statement comes nearly five days after NBC’s initial projection. He retired as a Colonel in November 2017 following 30 years of active-duty service and was elected to serve as a Pennsylvania senator by District 33 two years later in 2019.

Campaign Promises — Mastriano’s campaign had focused largely on election integrity, protecting the Second Amendment rights of Americans, and securing the border amid a mass immigration crisis that has led to an increase of fentanyl being snuck across the southern border.

The rise in fentanyl transportation across the border is now claiming the lives of Pennsylvanians each and every day, according to Mastriano’s campaign website. As a state senator, Mastriano introduced Tyler’s Law, which targets drug dealers who push fentanyl resulting in a fatal overdose, resulting in a mandatory minimum 25-year sentence upon conviction. Mastriano also supported a complete ban on abortions and was vocal in his opposition to vaccine mandates and draconian COVID restrictions.

In contrast, Shapiro, the state’s two-term elected attorney general, had vowed to protect Pennsylvanians’ access to abortions, including protecting the state’s existing 24-week law. He has also focused his campaign on tackling the fentanyl crisis and overhauling the state’s criminal justice system. As attorney general, Shapiro had spoken out against Trump’s claims of fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

In a statement on Sunday, the Democrat thanked Pennsylvanians for giving him “the honor of a lifetime to give me the chance to serve you as Pennsylvania’s next Governor.”

“While my name was on the ballot, it was always your rights on the line,” Shapiro wrote. “I believe this Governor’s race was a test for each of us to decide what kind of Commonwealth and what kind of country that we want to live in. It was a test of whether or not we valued our rights and freedoms, and whether we believed in opportunity for all Pennsylvanians.”

“I humbly write to you as your Governor-elect knowing that you met this moment,” he said.”
