Travel 2 Minutes

Fall is my favorite time to visit the Grand Canyon in Wellsboro, PA.  Unlike its larger cousin in Colorado, the Grand Canyon in PA is tree lined and offers stunning fall views!

Two State Parks, Leonard Harrison on the east rim and Colton Point on the West Rim, offer nearly 1,000 acres for outdoor recreation and are separated by the 47 mile long Pine Creek Gorge. The Gorge, also known as the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania, is 800 feet deep in the area of the parks.

Hiking the PA Grand Canyon

Everything from short strolls on ADA compliant paths to 30 miles of backcountry hiking and backpacking can be found at Leonard Harrison and Colton Point State Parks.  Overlook trails at both parks are quite short, with easy trails ending in rewarding views. The trails are well marked from beginning to end.  The Turkey Path trails in both parks are short but quite steep, taking hikers to the bottom of the gorge. See Pine Creek up close, and catch a glimpse of some waterfalls at the bottom.

If backpacking is your style, check out the West Rim Trail. This 30 mile trail can be covered in 2-3 days with primitive campsites along the way. No fees or permits are required if only spending one night at any given campsite.

Also of note: the trails around the PA Grand Canyon are dog friendly! Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome, as long as they are cleaned up after.

Rafting & Boating Through the PA Grand Canyon

Bring your own kayak, canoe, or tubes to float down Pine Creek. There are places to rent canoes and kayaks with various trip length packages available, from just a few hours to multi day endeavors. Campsites are available at multiple sites along the river, but must be registered (for free) ahead of time. The water flowing through the Pine Creek Gorge can be at times considered Class II rapids. Upper Pine offers a more leisurely float trip, for those wanting a relaxing adventure.

A few words about the conditions and water levels, for safety! Safety recommendations for temperature advise wet suits for air temperatures under 75 degrees. Don’t fall victim to hypothermia! The water levels can change quickly in the summer and fall, so prepare to be flexible with your intended itinerary. Sometimes, floating in a tube is the only option due to the low water.

Catch a ride on a train or old-fashioned wagon

The Tioga Central Railroad offers trips both during the day and sunset times to view the Pennsylvania countryside. Enjoy both enclosed and open-air cars to take in the scenery.

If you’re not into trains, you can hop on an “Ole Covered Wagon,” a horse drawn wagon tour, to catch views of the Gorge and other scenic points of interest along the way. Tours are tailored to some of the more seasonal attractions, and they travel along the Pine Creek Trail.

        it’s really a gorgeous hike, but there are roads that lead to the overlooks as well on both sides of the gorge if you’re less inclined to hike.

    A Michigan State University senior claims a sandwich she ordered from an East Lansing Subway had an extra topping she didn’t ask for – feces.

    Kelsey Coyne posted a TikTok after discovering what she thinks was poop on her lunch.

    “There is feces. We are not sure if it’s human or dog,” she said in the video. “That’s not chocolate, I know that for sure.”

    Coyne said she posted what happened to social media because she didn’t think the company would take her claims seriously after biting into the sub and smelling something off.

    “The smell from it was so bad, I was gagging from remembering it,” she said. “It was on the paper around it, but it was mushy.”

    East Lansing police are investigating, and they are looking for a lab to possibly test the sample. Though police are looking into the incident, it could end up being a health department issue.

    The owner of the restaurant said he reviewed security footage from the store and found nothing to indicate the sandwich got feces on it. Instead, he says it was sauce that was burnt after being toasted.

    Coyne said she hopes that’s what happened.

    “We had a complete staff and workers out of our yard down in south Omaha and down at the Gomez Avenue yard. They got all employed with Omaha, and they left our shift,” said Jay Jensen.

    Jensen says he sticks around because he likes the job itself but not the conditions.

    Other things they are asking for: Access to working remotely, greater sick leave payouts and paid parental leave.

    “I think one of our priorities is we need to attract younger people to state service. And I think one of the ways to do that is to cater to them. And provide paid parental leave,” said vice president Brian Koch.

    All of these employees hope they can bargain something so they keep doing the jobs they love.

    “Out in western Nebraska, they’re already talking about putting up signs that they’re not going to plow this road because they don’t have the amount of employees out there to care for the roads,” Jensen said.

    For now, there’s strength in unity.

    The deadline to complete the bargaining is Dec. 31. If they don’t reach an agreement there will be a 10-day cooling-off period before going to the state’s labor board.

    We reached out to Gov. Pete Ricketts and the Nebraska Department of Administrative Services, we’re still waiting for responses.

            1. They were just interviewing one of the RR workers on Newsmax. It is also the number of days off, i.e., the number of days they have to be away from home. Right before Mom divorced my step-dad, he was working on the RR and was gone all week long. That is a big part of it.

    “With both Buzz Kelley’s support and the endorsement of former Democratic candidate Edgar Blatchford as well, it’s clear that Alaskans from across the spectrum are uniting behind our campaign, ” Tshibaka said.

    On Monday, polling showed Tshibaka is tied Murkowski. The poll took into account Alaska’s ranked-choice voting system. The poll suggests that Murkowski’s best chance of defeating Tshibaka is Democrat voters, who could vote for Murkowski as the ranked-choice system advances. The way Alaska’s ranked-choice general election and open primary system, instituted in 2020, works is as follows:

    All candidates from all parties appear on the ballot together in the August primary. The top four vote-getters regardless of party then advance to the general election, and their voters are given the opportunity to pick their top choice, as well as their second and third choices. If no candidate in the first round of voters’ first choices gets 50 percent of the vote, the last place candidate’s second choices are distributed across the remaining three candidates to see if someone can get across the majority threshold. If that fails again to produce a majority vote-getter, then a third round is conducted where the third place candidate’s votes are redistributed according to second choices between the remaining two candidates.

    The general election is on November 8.”

    Also heard from a nurse that other nurses “disappear” for long periods… She thinks these nurses are vaccine injured.

    I heard that at Kaiser, they are now seeing new young patients with cancer at the rate of once a day. Before the vaccines, it was a few times a year.

    Pilots on Southwest are NOT required to be vaccinated. They are giddy over this. Two of the pilots talked with one of our VSRF members today about all the health issues they’ve heard about from pilots at other airlines.”

    According to a Tuesday release from the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust, candidates are required to submit a financial statement that “provides a ‘full and complete’ statement of their assets, debts, and income, as well as any position held.” For any assets, candidates must “report the complete identity and category of value of any interest in property… with a fair market value exceeding $1,000 as of the close of the reporting period.”

    The group determined from county court records that Fetterman owns eight properties in Braddock, Pennsylvania, where he served as mayor from 2006 to 2019. None of the properties appeared on Fetterman’s July 29 disclosure documents.

    Though many of the properties — worth a combined $108,800 — are empty lots worth between $10,000 and $20,000, one of the holdings was a building structure worth more than $40,000, according to a report from the Daily Mail. “These properties don’t produce any income and are not investment properties, so John did not need to disclose them,” Fetterman spokesperson Nicholas Gavio told the outlet.

    Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust Executive Director Kendra Arnold said in a statement that Fetterman was likely required to mention the properties. The group sent a letter outlining their concerns to Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) and Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), who lead the Senate Select Committee on Ethics.

    “It appears all of these properties should have been disclosed on Mr. Fetterman’s personal financial disclosure,” Arnold explained. “Candidates are well aware of their obligation to comply with the law and have an affirmative duty to do so. Moreover, when a Senate candidate fails to comply with the disclosure laws, it is indicative as to whether they will comply with the law if elected — and it is especially concerning when they don’t.”

    Fetterman and his campaign has nevertheless mocked Oz for his multiple real estate holdings — which include a $36 million beachfront mansion in Florida — as well as ambiguity regarding the celebrity cardiologist’s disclosures.

    “A house? A property? An investment property? What? Dr. Oz is so out of touch that he doesn’t even get that real people — people who he claims he will fight for in Washington — don’t care about the difference,” Fetterman spokesperson Emilia Rowland told CBS News last week.

    Democrats are hoping that Fetterman will provide a majority in the evenly-divided Senate. However, Fetterman — who leads Oz by a margin of 48% to 44%, according to a recent poll from Emerson College — suffered a stroke days before the commonwealth’s primary election and has since stumbled through speeches at multiple campaign appearances. His campaign has not yet specified details of a debate with his rival.

    Last month, a report from The Washington Free Beacon revealed that Fetterman sends at least one of his children to Winchester Thurston, an elite Pittsburgh private school with a five-figure tuition, despite opposing voucher programs. He formerly argued that “taking money away from public schools and putting them into charter and private schools does not solve anything.”

The goat named Billy caused mayhem in Tonopah for hours before deputies responded to the area, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said in a Tuesday, Sept. 13 Facebook post.

    Billy — and yes, he’s a billy goat — did damage to a garage door, an electrical cord and chased a person around a car. When deputies caught the cantankerous goat, he peed on one deputy. Authorities put the animal in “special handcuffs” for livestock control to pick him up in the morning.

    From FB Post: “Meet Billy, he’s a goat. A few days ago, Billy terrorized some residents in Tonopah for a few hours, damaging their garage door, an electrical cord and chasing one of the residents around a car. Deputies from District 2 were able to take Billy into custody, at which point he assaulted one of our deputies by urinating on them. Special handcuffs were retrieved and Billy was restrained for Livestock Control to pick up the next morning. Billy was charged with trespassing, assault, criminal damage and disorderly conduct.”

    Facebook users quickly made jokes about the incident. “How much is his bail?” one person wrote. Another person said, “Free Billy! He was framed.” Tonopah is about 50 miles west of Phoenix

    Another goat story:

    “An Alabama deputy was serving civil papers on Friday, Aug. 26, when he heard a ruckus coming from his patrol car. Deputy Casey Thrower returned to his car to find a pair of hoofed burglars taking over the vehicle, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. One goat was climbing through the driver’s side door while the other kept watch from atop the hood.

    “Deputy Thrower explained that due to the number of homes he visits daily, on occasions he leaves his vehicle door open because he’s had to retreat from being attacked by canines in the past,” the sheriff’s office said. But this time, the open door created the perfect buffet for the hungry goats. Video posted by the sheriff’s office shows the goat inside the car snacking on Thrower’s paperwork as he pleads with it to get out — to no avail.

    “Quit eating that,” Thrower is heard saying as the goat ignores him. “Get out of here. Don’t you eat that.” Another video shows the second goat pacing on the roof of the patrol car. The videos have been viewed more than 20,000 times combined as of Sunday, Aug. 28.

    America is permanently divided in a way that can only be resolved with the victory of one political party over the other, which in today’s parlance means the victory of traditional Americans or the victory of their woke Democrat opponents, most of whom are white but are ashamed of it. With the founding whites split, the power of immigrant-invaders is multiplied.

    These thoughts were brought to me by the latest Rasmussen Poll. The poll tested the US population on its response to President Biden’s assertion that “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”

    The poll results are: 48% of likely U.S. voters agree with Biden including 36% who Strongly Agree. Forty-seven percent (47%) disagree with Biden including 39% who Strongly Disagree.

    One would have thought that extremism resides in a president who writes off half of the population, but the Democrats’ revolution against traditional white Americans now has as many supporters as opponents. But the supporters of overthrowing the 14th Amendment, a merit-based system, white people, and Christian morality in favor of racial preferences and the normalization of sexual perversity currently control the government, media, and the movies from which most Americans imbibe their worldview.

    Today the Disunited States are more divided than in 1861 when Lincoln invaded the seceded Confederate States of America. With law weaponized and Constitutional protections eroded, power rises to the fore.”

I’m back – she wasn’t around and I decided to just bite the bullet and do it myself…..sigh….I did stop briefly to see Michael – he had surgery yesterday to enlarge the opening in his penis so he could pee properly. No pain or even any discomfort to speak of – plus, he finally got the right part for his washing machine so he is a happy camper today! He can pee again!!! LOL

    Pennsylvania Lt. Governor John Fetterman isn’t really running for U.S. Senate. He’s on the ballot. He’s doing some campaign stops. He’s dodging a debate against Dr. Mehmet Oz. But he’s just a placeholder. The real candidate that nobody outside of the powerbrokers in the Democrat Party know about is his radical leftist wife, Gisele Barreto Fetterman.

    The official candidate has been making the news lately with his odd behavior. Just before the primary election, he suffered a stroke and was away from the public eye for over a month. But now that he’s back on the campaign trail, a whole lot of people have a whole lot of questions. He was even featured on Tucker Carlson’s recent show, and more specifically, the odd lump on the back of his neck was featured.

    Democrats are doing everything they can to keep him out of the spotlight. It’s the Joe Biden campaign technique — stick him in the basement and hope his proxies and advocates can con enough people to make the race close so they can cheat their way to victory. This is Pennsylvania, after all, where it takes a couple of weeks to manufacture the votes Democrats need to win, as they demonstrated during the 2020 election.

    But John Fetterman is just a placeholder. The real person they intend to make Senator is his wife. Gisele Barreto Fetterman is the ultimate representation of the worst parts of the Democrat Party. She came into this nation as an illegal alien, a “Dreamer” before such a term was coined by the Obama regime. She got her green card, became a citizen, and married John Fetterman.

    Since then, her entire career has been built around woke activism and race-targeted philanthropy. She has built a resume that people like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or Ilhan Omar could only dream of having. According to the candidate’s website:

    Gisele has devoted her life to helping others, with a focus on nutrition, food equity and meeting Pennsylvanians’ basic needs. With just an empty shipping container and an open lot, Gisele opened the Free Store, distributing household goods, baby items and bicycles to those in need. In addition, she co-founded 412 Food Rescue, which sends volunteers to retailers who have surplus food that risks going bad and delivers it to nonprofits that serve the hungry. Gisele also co-founded the nonprofit For Good PGH which drives numerous initiatives on inclusion including “Hello Hijab,” which produces miniature hijabs for dolls, promoting tolerance and diversity. Most recently Gisele founded The Hollander Project, a business incubator for female entrepreneurs.

    If the Democrats are able to win in Pennsylvania, they will likely win both the Senate seat and the governorship. They need to win both for their plan to work. If John Fetterman wins, he will quickly resign due to health reasons. If Josh Shapiro defeats Doug Mastriano in the gubernatorial race, it will be on Shapiro to pick Fetterman’s replacement and I’ll tell you with 90% certainty that pick will be Fetterman’s Neo-Marxist wife.

EXCERPT: “Special counsel John Durham filed a pre-trial motion in limine on Sept. 13 in his false statements case against Igor Danchenko, the primary sub-source of Christopher Steele’s dossier on Donald Trump. Danchenko, who is charged with five counts of lying to the FBI about his sources for the dossier, had earlier filed a motion to dismiss the charges against him.

    Motions in limine are routine motions that are used to determine what evidence may and may not be used at trial. Danchenko’s trial is scheduled to begin next month. However, Durham’s motion is anything but routine and contains a series of stunning revelations about Danchenko.

    Perhaps the most stunning disclosure is that Danchenko was given confidential human source (CHS) status by the FBI in March 2017. Notably, this was after Danchenko had disowned the Steele dossier in a January 2017 FBI interview, having admitted that it was based on gossip and rumors. Given the admission, there was no legitimate reason to extend the protections of CHS status to Danchenko, who no longer had any bona fide value to the FBI’s investigation into alleged Trump–Russia collusion.

    In fact, the FBI’s investigation ought to have ended as soon as Danchenko disclosed the true provenance of Steele’s reporting. The FBI’s goal in giving Danchenko the highly coveted CHS status appears to have been to take Danchenko off the grid. As a CHS, Danchenko enjoyed special protections and privileges. Crucially, the FBI was able to use his status to conceal Danchenko and his disclosures from congressional inquiries, such as the investigation by then-Rep. Devin Nunes led by Kash Patel. Other inquiries, such as Freedom of Information Act requests, could similarly be stonewalled by reference to the “sources and methods” justification for concealing the identity, and even the existence, of a CHS.”

EXCERPT: “The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) has taken a stand against what it refers to as “the dissemination of COVID-19 vaccine misinformation and disinformation by physicians and other healthcare professionals on social media platforms, online and in the media,” going so far as to recommend disciplinary action and state policy changes.

    In a July 2021 press release, the FSMB warned physicians they could risk “disciplinary action by state medical boards, including the suspension or revocation of their medical license.” And in a lengthier statement issued in April 2022, the nonprofit — which says it “serves as the voice for state medical boards” — appeared to advocate for laws like the one sitting on California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s desk that would punish doctors who share COVID-19 “misinformation” with their patients, with language like this:

    “Prohibitions on disseminating misinformation are already expressly written, or implied, in many state statutes regulating the practice of medicine. However, adopting a specific policy on misinformation is encouraged in light of the increased prevalence of, and harm caused by, physician-disseminated misinformation in this ongoing pandemic.”

    In yet another show of support for cracking down on “misinformation,” FSMB President and CEO Dr. Humayun Chaudhry will speak next week on “Misinformation in Health Care: The Implications for Professionalism and the Public Trust” at the American Board of Medical Specialties annual conference.

    In its July 2021 press release, the FSMB did not define what it meant by “misinformation or disinformation,” yet the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Family Medicine subsequently issued a joint statement supporting the FSMB’s position.

    According to its website, the FSMB says it “supports its member boards as they fulfill their mandate of protecting the public’s health, safety and welfare through the proper licensing, disciplining, and regulation of physicians and, in most jurisdictions, other health care professionals.” It also issues guidelines that serve as the basis for model policies with the stated goal of positively impacting the health and safety of patients and the medical regulatory system.

    But some critics of the FSMB’s aggressive “misinformation” policy questioned where the organization derives its authority and who’s really behind it.

    FSMB and IAMRA share an office address in Texas. Their official phone numbers are nearly identical. And when a person calls the phone number listed on IAMRA’s website, the prerecorded welcome message tells the caller they’ve reached FSMB and IAMRA, in that order. FSMB’s president and CEO, Chaudry, is also the secretary of the IAMRA. This overlapping of leadership positions extends beyond FSMB and IAMRA into medical councils in other countries.

    For example, Dr. Emanuel Garcia, a psychiatrist living in New Zealand who publicly voiced concern about the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, noted in an Aug. 22 article for Global Research that the chair-elect of the IAMRA, Joan Simeon, “just happens” to be the CEO of the Medical Council of New Zealand.

    Garcia, who questioned whether the FSMB and IAMRA’s true motivations were ensuring safe medical practices, said: “In casting an eye over the years since the dramatic introduction of the COVID pandemic, the near total shutdown of the world, the immense transfer of wealth from the middle and poorer classes upwards, the universal imposition of an inadequately tested so-called vaccine, and the vehement suppression of critical early treatment, one cannot but conclude that there is indeed an agenda beyond health and welfare.

    “The FSMB and the IAMRA have shown by their actions that they are tools whose task is to further this agenda, and that this agenda is both anti-medical and inhumane.”

    In addition to contracting with the U.S. government and IAMRA, the FSMB runs its own foundation that functions as a separate 501(c)(3) organization but is supported by a “generous seed endowment” from the FSMB.”

    By far, the greatest concerns are relegated to processed foods, but even whole foods, both plant and animal foods, can be contaminated. Here, my focus will be on three sources that have their origins in the growth phase: phosphate fertilizers, glyphosate herbicides and biosolids (human waste used as fertilizer).”
