Header pic lists the ancient Classic Egyptian bloodlines of my Saba Kharazaarouf, which was his full registered name. His sire was Zaaris (dapple gray) and his dam was Kharoufa (chestnut); there was also strong black in his bloodlines, and my ultimate dream Arab was always a black – not that I didn’t dearly love my Z, mind you! But we hoped to get a black foal from him. He shared bloodlines with Cass Ole, the horse from “The Black” movies. I have a pic of HB standing on a step stool next to Cass Ole in his paddock – we went to a Lippizzan show at the Capital Center outside DC and he was in the lobby.)
When I posted some Arabian horse pics recently, I commented briefly about the physical characteristics and was going to go into a detailed explanation of all the others, then a little voice came to mind: “That would make a great open!” Yes, Pat – I hear you! LOL
So, here it is! These are all stock pics and all of the specific descriptions I am using are for this first picture. I’m going to test you to see if you can point out the similarities in the others!😉😉😉 Open the pic in a new tab and enlarge it, if you need to.
This is the pic of the blood bay Arabian I posted – spitting image of my Z:
Let’s start with the head: Look at the top of the ears, which are a scimitar shape, moving down to the forehead – see the bulge? Note the very broad jaws, rather short head, the foreward-and-wide-set, big eyes, quickly tapering to a dish-shaped, slender face and nose, ending with the huge nostrils (which is why they are called “Wind Drinkers”), yet a small, almost dainty mouth.
OK….moving on….go back to the top of the head/neck. Note that it is a short neck with a dramatic arch, set high into the shoulders, which are broad and well-muscled, set into the short barrel of the body. The concave profile and flagging tail are not the only peculiar features of the Arabian. Many also have one less lumbar vertebrae, pair of ribs, and tail bone than other horse breeds. Also note what is called the “tabletop back,” i.e., straight and level, with the tail set high up into the spine.
Back to the front: note the wide-set front legs, very well developed chest, straight and unblemished legs, wide and substantial knees, slender, almost fragile looking cannon bones (main bottom leg bone), clean, small ankle, with a short, straight, upright pastern (between the ankles and the hooves).
The knees of young Arabians do not “close” as early as other breeds. There is a gap in the center of the knee that does not fuse until around the age of 4. This is why it is wise not to do any strenuous training that will stress the knees until then; when Arabians age, the knees are often where the damage shows up first. Nine times out of ten, it is because they started training too soon. Trained and cared for properly, Arabians can continue to thrive and perform well into their 30’s!
As to the hooves of desert-bred Arabs, in a natural setting they rarely need a farrier to trim their feet. Given a “normal” pasture/grazing area with the occasional stones/rocks/gravel, and their clean, proper conformation, they wear off naturally. Under normal life, barring stepping on something and injuring the heel or frog of the foot or being out in wet, muddy ground for an extended period (which can cause a disease called “thrush”) or being a “working” horse, they don’t require intervention.
I had my Z for 17 years and not once did I ever have to call a farrier. That entire time, a farrier looked at his feet twice – I wanted to make sure Z was good and, since they were there anyway, they agreed to check him out. First guy, said nope, doesn’t need anything. Second guy looked, shook his head, dropped Z’s hoof in disgust, and said, “These damned Arabs!!! I’d go broke with just them!!!”
Note the difference in the conformation, specifically of the hooves, between the Arab and this one. You can clearly see the dropped heels, the long toes, the slightly slanted pastern. Of course, you can also see the difference in conformation overall.
Most people not in the horse world have never heard the phrase “showing at liberty.” That means the horses are not on leads and are running free, oftentimes without even a halter. This is a video of a woman with her Arabians working at liberty:
Another Arabian show event that I always loved is the Costume competition!!!

not sure how they’re going to recharge it…5 coal miners PUSH an EV that ran out of juice…
entire article
An electric vehicle ran out of juice on a road in West Virginia. Thankfully for the driver, there was an ironic group that came to the rescue – five coal miners.
Randy Smith – a Republican member of the West Virginia Senate representing District 14 and a coal miner – shared an intriguing situation that happened on Friday.
An electric car ran out of battery charge on U.S. 48, and stopped right in front of the Mettiki Coal access road in Tucker County. Luckily for the stranded driver from out of town, workers from the fossil fuel mine were ready to help out.
“Some days are just better than others,” Smith wrote on a Facebook post. “Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from D.C. ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine.”
“Someone called one of our foremen and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road,” Smith added. “He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a getaway weekend.”
Don’t miss out on content from Dave Rubin free of big tech censorship. Listen to The Rubin Report now.
The foreman wanted to tow the electric vehicle with a truck, but the EV was “all plastic underneath and nothing to hook up to.”
The foreman went to the coal mine to enlist some workers to help push the electric car to the guard house. Then five miners pushed the electric car to the coal mine – which was captured in an ironic photo.
“If you look closely you can see our coal stockpile and load out in the background,” Smith explained.
Smith noted, “This just shows you coal miners are good people and will go out of their way to help anyone friend or foe.”
Smith added that he was “honestly glad” the miners assisted because the tourist driver would have been marooned since he wouldn’t be able to get a tow truck “out in the middle of nowhere.”
Smith teased, “One guy even dropped off a ‘Friend of Coal’ license plate when he left to go home. Lol.”
The photo of the five coal miners pushing the electric vehicle went viral on social media.

Judge Dismisses Carter Page Lawsuit Against FBI Despite ‘Deeply Troubling’ Surveillance
3 Sep 2022
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/judge-dismisses-carter-page-lawsuit-against-fbi-despite-deeply-troubling-surveillance
Friedrich, a Trump appointee, ruled that the lawsuit be thrown out because Page had “brought no actionable claim against any individual defendant or against the United States.”
“In part, that is because Page faces at least three statutory roadblocks. First, Congress has not created a private right of action against those who prepare false or misleading FISA applications,” the judge wrote, noting that “both the plain language and the structure of FISA make clear that civil liability under 50 U.S.C. § 1810 attaches only to those who conduct or perform electronic surveillance.”
Secondly, the judge noted that Congress has “not provided for damages claims against federal officers for constitutional violations stemming from unlawful electronic surveillance in the national security context,” and thirdly, “Congress has not waived the United States’s sovereign immunity for this kind of claim.”

TBH, in spite of my normal pragmatism, I think those empty folders were, indeed, part of a set up. Otherwise, keeping empty folders doesn’t make the slightest bit of sense. The secretaries in every single government office have stacks and stacks of these assorted folders. Every time a classified doc is prepared, the secretary will put it into a new folder……they are as common as toilet paper!!!!

Entire Article @ Patriot911News: “Why are kids getting dementia?
Doctors are perplexed as hundreds of children are being diagnosed with “childhood dementia” and an unusual condition characterized as Alzheimer’s combined with Parkinson’s.
We have seen an unexplainable rise in illnesses over the past two years, including the untimely and unexpected deaths of young, healthy persons. “Coincidences” keep happening. In only two weeks, a local hospital experienced the tragic deaths of more than a dozen doctors. Professional athletes in their prime are dying. Well-known celebrities have become ill with uncommon medical diagnoses. Globally, viral and hepatitis outbreaks are occurring like never before.
Shocking research: Now, a peer-reviewed article in the scientific journal Microbiology and Infectious Diseases suggests Pfizer’s mRNA Covid-19 vaccine may trigger fatal diseases such as Creutzfeldt-Jakob (which is symptomatically similar to Mad Cow disease).
Symptoms researchers have found include dementia, confusion, difficulty speaking, fatigue hallucinations, and impaired mobility, all in children. On the heels of this news comes this report from the UK:
Some researchers suggest the media is intentionally normalizing neurological disorders to take the focus off the dangers of the Covid shot.”

Entire Article @ DC: “A federal judge issued a temporary restraining order Tuesday blocking a Colorado county from banning the sale and manufacturing of certain semi-automatic weapons and high-capacity magazines.
U.S. District Court Judge Charlotte Sweeney issued the order against Boulder County, ruling in favor of plaintiffs Rocky Mountain Gun Owners, the National Association for Gun Rights and resident Martin Carter Kehoe. On Aug. 2, the county adopted an ordinance banning the sale, transfer and manufacturing of so-called “assault weapons,” high-capacity magazines and “rapid-fire trigger activators.” Individuals were not prohibited from possessing any of the aforementioned items.
Sweeney cited the recent Supreme Court decision that struck down a New York law requiring people to prove a special need for self-defense when applying for a concealed carry permit. The court ruled 6-3 that individuals have a constitutional right to self-defense outside of their homes. Sweeney’s ruling allows Boulder County to continue enforcing its ban on the sale of rapid-fire trigger activators.
“We are on fire, we just can’t stop winning in the courts,” Rocky Mountains Gun Owners Executive Director Taylor Rhodes said in a statement. “Because of the correctly decided Bruen decision authored by Justice [Clarence] Thomas this summer, the floodgates are open, and we are taking back the rights that evil tyrants stole from us. All judges, no matter their political persuasion, will be forced to rule that our right to keep and bear arms cannot be infringed — and that’s exactly why this [temporary restraining order] was issued.”
The city of Boulder announced Tuesday it would voluntarily and “temporarily pause enforcement of its ban … to allow time for more legal coordination among neighboring jurisdictions.”
“We always anticipated that some of our gun violence prevention measures might face legal challenges,” City Attorney Teresa Taylor Tate said in a statement. “While these rulings are not directly related to the City of Boulder’s measures, we believe it is prudent to work with our neighbors on a coordinated legal strategy.”
Tate said the cities of Boulder and Louisville will seek to consolidate with Boulder County to take on the case.”

Re: the ancestral bloodlines in the header….each one is a separate tribe within the various Bedouin/desert communities, each of which is governed by individual sheikhs. In the Arabian world, the female line is the most important vs. the male line in most other breeds and they generally prize mares over stallions. They placed more importance on the temperament, endurance, and intelligence over brute strength and beauty. In truth, Arabians waaaay back when were not pretty in their natural state – very plain and serviceable rather than flashy, altho they had their festivals periodically, with pomp and ceremony.

we tried the new restaurant in town when the kids were up. the portions were off the hook! everybody brought home half their meals! I was not impressed with mine–but that’s me. i ordered their version of a steak sandwich–but it was really brisket–and it tasted greasy to me. the roll was saturated in butter as well. the fries were COVERED in sea salt and mostly inedible. But i am a tough sell on ordered out food.
everybody else loved the place! hubby and granddaughter both got the same thing–mac & cheese with pulled pork in it. the plates were huge! they both thought it was out of this world–they offer 4 different versions of mac & cheese.
my daughter and son in law shared a meat feast! pulled pork, turkey, and brisket…served with beans, corn bread, fries AND a loaded baked potato.
drinks were served in mason jars–except for the mixed drinks
dessert which we didn’t order was cheesecake.
the decor of the restaurant was cars! antique license plates rimmed the hanging lights…the door handles were wrenches. there were “low” (regular tables) and high tops–the high top ones had seats that you could raise or lower. there were antique gas pumps all over–they sell their own hot sauces and it was crowded!!

A resurfaced video from the first season of “American Idol” in 2002 has Twitter users doing a double take at a blonde, energetic hopeful who very much resembles Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.
However, the woman in the video — which has 1.2 million views and over 37,900 likes since it was posted on Sunday — claims her name is Stefanie Sugarman, 23, and says she is from Alta Loma, California, despite Greene hailing from the Peach State. “My biggest worry right now is telling work how I’m going to miss Monday. Calling in sick. Sorry, boss!,” the woman says to the camera in between some Britney Spears-inspired dance moves in front of fellow contestants.
Once in front of judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, Sugarman states she works in “marketing for cheese. I sell provolone and mozzarella,” before launching into a chaotic version of “Knockin’ Da Boots” by H- Town. All three judges laugh during her animated performance, but Abdul summed things up by telling Sugarman she’s not the next American Idol.
“You woke us up, that’s for sure,” the “Straight Up” songstress silver lined Sugarman’s effort.
—————-
It’s unclear if the woman in the video’s name really is Stefanie Sugarman or Taylor Greene has an almost identical doppelganger. According to TMZ, a woman named Stefanie Sugarman does exist with the same Alta Loma and San Bernardino county area roots and birthday the woman shared with “Idol” producers.”

“WASHINGTON, DC — Officials from the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation were forced to defend themselves today as news came out that many of the file folders confiscated in the raid of former President Donald Trump’s residence at Mar-A-Lago were empty.
“There’s an easy explanation for all of this,” said FBI spokesperson Gaby Rosca in a prepared statement. “The fact of the matter is, many of the documents Mr. Trump had in his possession were so classified and contained such sensitive information that they had to be printed with invisible ink on invisible paper. This is a common practice at the higher levels of government so that there is no paper trail left behind.”
Trump took to Truth Social to respond to the accusation of his hoarding invisible documents. “This is just further proof that the raid on Mar-A-Lago was a witch hunt. Sad!” Trump said in the post. “The FBI doesn’t even have invisibility cloaks, much less invisible paper. That was the second question I asked when I got to the White House. First, aliens, and then invisibility cloaks. I did have lots of empty file folders, but only because that’s how geniuses hide things, they use decoys. And the FBI fell for it, those losers!”
At publishing time, DOJ officials were still sifting through evidence and weighing the decision to indict Trump. If the former president is indicted on charges of possessing invisible classified documents, it is believed that the FBI is planning to arrest him using the same type of invisible handcuffs used to detain Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.”

“PHOENIX, AZ — After collecting data from thousands of toilets across the country, dog scientists have definitively determined that toilet water contains essential nutrients not found in a water bowl.
“Water bowls simply do not provide adequate nutrition for the canine community,” said Dr. Hairy Pawter. “For the zinc, phosphorous, and clostridium every dog needs, nothing beats a nice, full toilet.”
Dr. Pawter expressed optimism that the findings would help reduce the long-standing stigma surrounding toilet water. “For years, dogs have been shamed by their owners for drinking out of the commode,” said Dr. Pawter. “We have even been subjected to bigoted accusations of being ‘disgusting’ and ‘horrifically nauseating’. I hope the big people will at last realize we are only guilty of supporting strong bones and healthy hearts.”
The team of dog scientists collected samples of toilet water from across the country to analyze the composition across different owners and environments. “This was a very rigorous, well-designed study,” said fellow researcher Dr. Sherlock Bones. “While water bowls remain fine for hydration, holistic care for your dog should include several good tongue-laps of toilet water every day. We recommend always leaving the door unlocked and the lid up to help lower the barrier to good nutrition.”
The team of dog scientists has reportedly begun a follow-up study examining the long-term cholesterol benefits of eating shoes.”

Some short entries at The Onion (satire):
“BELLEAIR BLUFFS, FL—Concluding it would likely provide shoppers with a measure of affirmation and self-worth, a study published Monday by The Journal Of Consumer Affairs found that the vast majority of Americans wish self-checkout kiosks would tell them they did a great job. “Customers have repeatedly emphasized their desire for supermarket or pharmacy self-checkout machines to say that they bagged their food really well and deserve a pat on the back,” said study author Peter Hanlon, who discussed his team’s findings that large swaths of the shopping public wanted the kiosk to include a chirpy robotic voice congratulating them on their fantastic work and showering the display screen with digital confetti to celebrate their being such a good bagger today. “Interestingly, shoppers also wanted the kiosk to compliment them on their purchasing decisions, saying things like ‘Mmm, that looks good’ and providing words of encouragement during the checkout process such as ‘You’re doing awesome! Keep it up!’ But many said they would settle simply for the kiosk telling them that it loved them.” In a related finding, the study confirmed that many Americans were sick and tired of the current kiosks getting on their fucking ass about putting things in the bagging area.”

“SILVER SPRING, MD—Issuing its latest regulations governing the sale of tobacco products, the Food and Drug Administration announced Tuesday that cigarette packs would now be required to feature an image of a cigarette pack, which itself must bear a smaller image of a cigarette pack, which in turn will have an even smaller image of a cigarette pack, and so on, forcing smokers to ask where this all ends. “In addition to cigarettes containing critical health warnings, we are hoping this photo of the pack recursively appearing within itself in tinier and tinier versions that seem to go on forever will really give tobacco users something to wrap their heads around,” said FDA representative Samuel Viejo, adding that numerous studies had concluded that having a picture of a cigarette pack on a cigarette pack ad infinitum caused smokers to wonder whether they were developing a habit that might continue on and on and on, far beyond the bounds of human comprehension. “We may well see a drop in the smoking rate if people realize they cannot begin to fathom where their tobacco use will lead them, knowing only that it stretches perpetually onward into the deep, unknowable void. Speaking for myself, I can say that staring at this new packaging for a few minutes gave me a headache that will certainly make me think twice about ever picking up a cigarette.” The announcement comes on the heels of an FDA regulation issued last week that required all fast food establishments to display each menu item’s calorie content as the square root of negative one.”

Dang Girl! What an Open … I bookmarked it to read over and over… I don’t think I’ve ever seen any of these horses in RL, and I live in “horse country” … and I had no idea there could be distinctions as you point out … not need a farrier? Whoa! 😉 Thank you darlin’ girl … we should have met decades ago… you would have kicked my butt into owning horses. I love Hunters, but they are all I’ve ever really known.
I must tell you about Arab two legged animals and my little corner of the world. This was a sleepy little village even when Hubby and I arrived in 1968… the natives were restless because first of all those ‘dang’ yankees with their precious horses discovered this little piece of quiet on there way to winter them in Florida, and decided “why travel longer?” why not STOP right here… land’s cheaper too… and then of course just a decade or so before those DuPonters & the gubermint moved da bum plant in… things were goin’ to hades in a hurry … (I better stop, didn’t mean to hijack your Open!)
Anyway, about 5 yrs ago, a ‘Sultan’ ‘flew’ into town to play Polo (yes we’ve had polo since the Yanks arrived in the ’20s – but ‘private’ doncha’ know) … the local novo riche had started playing and we word was gettin’ round… Sultan bought up a bunch of land ( right at my back door) and decided he would ship his Arabian horses in . Well, you never heard such screaming and yelling… those good ol’ boys were not having a bunch of Arabs and their Arabian horses prancing on their clay dirt! They told the Sultan his horses were the wrong size and he couldn’t ‘play’ ! (He had already paid a mint to have those cotton fields turned into beautiful grass covered fenced in pasture land) His reply: “Might build a Water Park”

Oh, what a great story, PR!!! LOL – if they would only realize…..all of those hunters can trace their bloodlines back to which breed??? The Arab!!!! ROFLMAO – so whatever happened? Horse farm or water park????
People don’t realize that the Arabian is one of, if not the ONLY, truly pure breed left in the world. My guy isn’t even 100% Blue List, which means 100% ancient bloodlines – he has some American bloodlines that are newer. Every single other “light” breed of horse – basically, riding horses in general – all trace back to the Arabian.

I regret he didn’t bring his horses… think of their beauty and what they could have brought in the way of culture …

“The Court hereby authorizes the appointment of a special master to review the seized property for personal items and documents and potentially privileged material subject to claims of attorney- client and/or executive privilege,” the order states. “Furthermore, in natural conjunction with that appointment, and consistent with the value and sequence of special master procedures, the Court also temporarily enjoins the Government from reviewing and using the seized materials for investigative purposes pending completion of the special master’s review or further Court order.”

Benjamin Hawk the deputy director under Jay Bratt headed up the filter team used at Mara Lago
Why is nobody reporting @CryptoLawyerz @barnes_law @McAdooGordon @shipwreckedcrew that Benjamin (deputy director) Hawk, the filter team head, works under Jay Bratt, a top DOJ official who has taken the lead in court appearances in the investigation involving Trump?

got our internet back again…on and off all afternoon…
rain has been heavy at times…but no wind or thunder or anything.
the pond was down about 22 inches before it started raining last night. it’s come up about a foot!! already….
but the waterfall is so overgrown it’s not running…which means there’s probably a new trench being dug into the ground somewhere…sigh…
but it’s raining so I’ll shut up!

@JaneFriedman
is this getting read wrong? How can someone only sell 12 copies of a book?

I do see this in NYT: “about 98 percent of the books that publishers released in 2020 sold fewer than 5,000 copies.”
Publishers are worried about physical bookstores, a critical part of the literary ecosystem that was battered during the shutdown.

And I see this from a 2006 article: “In 2004, 950,000 titles out of the 1.2 million tracked by Nielsen Bookscan sold fewer than 99 copies.”

I am adding a short daily prayer to the board. I would invite each of you, if you wish, to also add one or maybe two of your own liking. I do not want to stifle anyone but please limit yourself to one or two religious postings. here’s one I found that I liked.
