Who Moved My Cheese?

“Who Moved My Cheese” is a self-help book written by Spencer Johnson, MD in 1998 and is a parable about mice in a maze and how they either utilize change or do not.  Once I read the synopsis, and the critic’s basic take-aways, I passed on the book.  Allow me to share why.

Change is inevitable, but how we deal with it varies greatly from person to person.  If we were to apply the suggestions for dealing with change today with the simplistic “rules” put forth in the book, we would turn into mindless drones.  The “don’ts list” of changing is a liberal’s green new deal/CRT/vaccination/up is down/ men can be women/ dream:

Don’t ignore change and wait for a return to normalcy.

Don’t try to bring back the past.

Don’t complain about the unfairness of it all.

Don’t refuse to adapt.

In other words, the world will not be returning to NORMAL; forget the good life you had before Biden; don’t whine about it; comply.

So how does the author suggest you handle change “successfully”?

Be prepared for change.

Let go of the past.

Adapt—be open minded to change.

Imagine success.

Handle your fears.

Learn to enjoy change.

Be prepared for constant change.

In other words, you hate change, but you have to learn to love it.  Don’t be afraid, embrace it.  Be ready for a rollercoaster, because the ride will be bumpy.

Crime is escalating in cities? You can’t change it apparently, you can’t complain about it, so what to do? Become a criminal too–ADAPT! Become a criminal’s competitor and drive the criminals from your neighborhood!

Or perhaps your entire neighborhood is feeling the pinch of the change in inflation, so how do you adapt to that? You could start communal farming plots–but that’s really a return to the past–that’s a no-no. So what should you do? Secede from the country! Imagine your success when you negotiate foreign aid from Biden’s administration!! Promise 10% for the Big Guy and split the rest among your fellow consitituents!

Are you getting the hang of this nonsense yet?

  1. Morning All!
Fair warning: we did lose internet and power last evening, right after super. It was hot and miserable sleeping on our sleep number bed last evening. (Once a week, when i change the linen, I inflate the numbers to 100–as they suggest. then just before we go to bed, I adjust them back to “our numbers”.) I couldn’t do that without power. both sides were stuck on 100 which means concrete in sleep number language. Pair that with not having water for 8 hours—SO I’M CRANKY!
    I’ll work on it.

The fired agent who was just escorted out of the FBI headquarters is the person who got the FBI to do a Raid on a home, Mar-a-Lago, that has “stirred” the World and created anger and hostility toward the FBI and DOJ the likes of which have perhaps never been seen in our Country before. The “Special Agent” In Charge of the unprecedented and unnecessary Raid and Break In of Mar-a-Lago, who concealed the partisan nature of evidence to secure the FBI’s approval to open an investigation…

into the 45th President in the first place, was also involved in the hiding and suppressing from the Public and the Media, the “Laptop from Hell,” the 2020 Presidential Election Scam, and so much more!

Wow, I assume this ends the Fake Witch Hunt? The “Special Agent” In Charge has been removed from his post based on his concealing the partisan nature of evidence presented to secure the FBI’s corrupt investigation into the 45th President of the United States, me, which culminated in their unprecedented and unnecessary Raid and Break-In of my home, Mar-a-Lago. Thank you to the FBI for taking this important step toward sanity!

I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me. I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed. I refuse to barter incentive for a dole. I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia. I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat. 7. FFS!! if you made payments on your student loans since 2020–you can get a refund of those and then apply for the $10K? I thought the bailout was because people COULD NOT MAKE PAYMENTS!!!!!
    FTA

“Today I went through my paperwork, called Great Lakes, and they approved my refund of $10k!!!” wrote one user named Caitlyn Bidwell on Twitter on Monday. “If you paid back/paid off federal student loans since March 13th, 2020, it’s SO worth the call.”

Another user wrote: “Wait I paid off my student loans during the pandemic pause… Like 14k… Is it true that I can really get a 10k refund and apply for loan forgiveness??? Pinch me.”

Twitter user Charlotte West said she received a refund from her servicer for the payments she made during the pandemic even though her loan was already paid off when she requested the refund.

“I finally paid off my student loans in fall 2020, about $9K in total, in one lump sum,” she wrote. “But any payments you made since 3/13/2020 can be refunded. Anticipating forgiveness, I called a few months ago and even though I had paid off my loan they sent me a refund check.”

The press secretary for Strike Debt, Braxton Brewington, told his Twitter followers that student loan payments made during the pandemic belong to them now.

“Cannot stress this enough,” he wrote. “Federal student debt payments have been paused since March 2020. If you made any payments since then, YOU CAN REQUEST A REFUND through your student loan servicer. That money—quite literally—belongs to you,” he wrote.

      1. I don’t remember whether this happened before or after my Dad decided to “teach” me about sex – I tend to think after or I wouldn’t have even understood a dirty joke – seriously, I was THAT naive and sheltered. But I recall one night when my parents had some friends over to play cards. They were also having “cocktails” and as I lay in bed, I heard them tell a dirty joke – IDR now what it was – I was incensed and called out something along the lines of “I did NOT think that was funny!” My Mom came to my room: “What did you say?” I repeated it and she just told me it was none of my business and to go to sleep. They were such hypocrites!!!

A man is about to be married, so the night before his wedding he visits a whorehouse. While there, the cops raid the place and in order not to be arrested, he jumps out the window naked. He breaks his “thing”. He goes to a doctor who tells him it will get better if he splints it–a popsicle stick on each side.
He gets married as planned and that night, his wife stands before him in her underwear. She rips off her bra and says “fresh…untouched by human hands…” then she rips off her panties, saying “fresh…untouched by human hands…”
he rips off his underwear and says “fresh…still in the crate!”

The bill, H.R. 8725, was sponsored by Representative Eleanor Norton, a Democrat representing the District of Columbia, on August 16th and has since been referred to the Committee on Appropriations.

If enacted, the proposal would “provide supplemental appropriations for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program to provide humanitarian relief for migrants, and for other purposes,” according to the bill text.

“There is appropriated, out of any amounts in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, $50,000,000, to remain available until expended, for the ‘‘Federal Emergency Management Agency—Federal Assistance’’ account,” proposes the bill.

The funds would be “made available to the emergency food and shelter program for purposes of providing shelter and other services to families and individuals encountered by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).”

The Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) has already received $280 million in funding for its operations throughout 2022. The sum was broken down into $130,000,000 for U.S. citizens and $150,000,000 for migrant families and individuals encountered by DHS.

Rep. Norton’s bill appears to apply specifically to migrants who come into contact with DHS as opposed to including American citizens.

    Chanel Rion:

“Bivins [The legal precedent to sue the FBI agents and officials individually is in a 1971 Supreme Court case called Bivins versus Six Unknown Named Agents] allows Trump to sue the FBI agents, one miserable agent, director, assistant director, and water boy at a time. And by the way, want to guess why these FBI looters don’t want an unredacted affidavit out there for all to see? It’s because they sought a general warrant to grab anything. They had to lie and omit to the judge and the hot light of day quivers on the horizon. Blank check police state general warrants are absolutely forbidden under US law.

If you need that reminder, FBI, and I want you to listen to me right now, the Fourth Amendment was written to counter what you did at Mar-a-Lago to Trump. The much-hated general warrant used and abused by the rotten British Crown was one of the sparks that set off our independence from a corrupted, elitist, debt-strapped empire.”

If you’re planning a trip to Virginia, my recommendation is that you cut Montpelier from your list. The tour is expensive–$35—and both the house and James Madison are not given their due. The house is skimped upon, and Madison is demeaned. Worst of all, though, one of the historic properties on which the ideas of liberty and representative democracy came to fruition, even before people were fully ready for them, has become a shrine to race hatred and anti-Americanism.

  11. arctic sea ice holding it’s own–higher than in previous years. hmmmm…with all that CO2 in the air and climate alarmists claiming it would be gone by now–what’s the deal????? maybe they don’t know shit!!! (gees, I swear I’m working on the crankiness…)
    FTA
With ice coverage for July and August remaining above the ten-year average of 2010–20, the extent of summer sea ice in the Arctic has surprised experts who once predicted that such levels would be impossible.

This stands in stark contrast to the dominant climate narrative that predicts the dwindling of summer ice in the Arctic. Some politicians had even claimed that parts of the Arctic would be ice-free by now.

With the seasonal Arctic melt technically over, it is fair to conclude that the extent of ice in the summer of 2022 has been greater than the ten-year average. On most days in July and August, sea ice levels were above the ten-year average and significantly more than the previous few years.

The Japanese National Institute of Polar Research provides a useful visualization in the graph below. This year’s Arctic sea ice — shown in red — is compared with the ten-year average and the levels of the previous few years, including that of 2012, when ice had reached its lowest of the period tracked.

    snip

Now, here’s the big question: why were internationally acclaimed climate scientists unable to predict this marked increase in the extent of summer sea ice? Is it because their overall approach is biased toward supporting the theory that carbon dioxide is warming the planet to dangerous levels? Or is it because their models are incapable of predicting future temperatures?

The answers must come from the doomsayers themselves. They need to explain why Arctic summer temperatures have been not at all different from the 44-year average and why summer sea ice is above decadal averages.

Acknowledging that we have yet to understand the complex climate system will undermine the credibility of scientists and political institutions advancing destructive energy policies to address a fantasy of climate catastrophe.

Melting of Arctic ice has been used as a major data point in the justification of restrictive energy policies adopted by many countries. It is ironic — and infuriating — that millions across the world are suffering from high energy prices and blackouts at the same time that Arctic sea ice has been at its greatest extent in five years!

  12. EXCERPT: “Iran closed its land borders to Iraq as flights to the country halted Tuesday amid violence in Baghdad following an influential Shiite cleric’s announcement he would resign from politics. The death toll rose to 22 Iraqis on Tuesday after the unrest erupted the previous day, according to two medical officials.

Iraq’s military said four rockets were launched into the heavily fortified Green Zone, the seat of Iraq’s government where armed clashes raged overnight between a militia royal to Iraqi cleric Muqtada al-Sadr and Iraqi security forces.

Al-Sadr’s sudden resignation has catapulted Iraq into violence and chaos with no clear path out. The cleric derives power from his ability to mobilize and control his large grassroots following, but with his stated exit from politics, he has implicitly given them the freedom to act as they see fit.

To avenge the killing of unarmed loyalists, al-Sadr’s militia Saraya Salam clashed with Iraqi security forces in the Green Zone using an array of weapons, including mortars and rocket-propelled grenades, two security officials said. The militia also took over some headquarters belonging to rival Iran-backed militia groups in the southern provinces overnight.

Iraq’s government has been deadlocked since al-Sadr’s party won the largest share of seats in October parliamentary elections but not enough to secure a majority government. His refusal to negotiate with his Iran-backed Shiite rivals and subsequent exit from the talks has catapulted the country into political uncertainty and volatility amid intensifying intra-Shiite wrangling.

To further his political interests, al-Sadr has wrapped his rhetoric with a nationalist and reform agenda that resonates powerfully among his broad grassroots base of supporters. They are calling for the dissolution of parliament and early elections without the participation of Iran-backed Shiite groups, which they see as responsible for the status quo.”

EXCERPT: “The Florida federal magistrate judge who signed off on a search warrant authorizing the FBI raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort donated to Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign — months after he left the local US Attorney’s office to rep employees of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein who had received immunity in the long-running sex-trafficking investigation of the financier.
    ————–
Reinhart was elevated to magistrate judge in March 2018 after 10 years in private practice. That November, the Miami Herald reported that he had represented several of Epstein’s employees — including, by Reinhart’s own admission to the outlet, Epstein’s pilots; his scheduler, Sarah Kellen; and Nadia Marcinkova, who Epstein once reportedly described as his “Yugoslavian sex slave.”

Kellen and Marcinkova were among Epstein’s lieutenants who were granted immunity as part of a controversial 2007 deal with federal prosecutors that allowed the pervert to plead guilty to state charges rather than federal crimes. Epstein wound up serving just 13 months in county jail and was granted work release.

According to the Herald, which cited court documents, Reinhart resigned from the South Florida US Attorney’s Office effective on New Year’s Day 2008 and went to work for Epstein’s cohorts the following day.”

EXCERPT: “The deranged mass shooter who killed two men in an Oregon supermarket appears to have written a disturbing online manifesto bragging about his plans to commit a “national tragedy” — initially planning a school slaughter “inspired” by Columbine.

Ethan Blair Miller, 20, was named by police Monday as the gunman who killed an 84-year-old customer as well as a 66-year-old hero employee who tackled him as he sprayed shots through the Safeway in Bend late Sunday.

Miller — who was carrying an AR-15 and a shotgun and had weapons and bombs in his car — shot himself dead before he could be arrested, police said. He previously worked at the store, but had no known criminal record and police said they had no evidence of prior contact with him.

However, officials confirmed they were examining disturbing information “posted on social media or other outlets” ahead of the shooting. It later emerged that the gunman had for two months written a since-deleted online manifesto called “The Downward Spiral Of ‘Ethan Miller.’”

“If you’re reading this then I’m definitely DEAD and have just committed a ‘NATIONAL TRAGEDY,’” he opened the online rantings on June 29.”

In a new letter to Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg Monday, Sen. Johnson, ranking member of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, and Sen. Grassley, ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, also asked for the names of all FBI and DOJ officials who warned Facebook that an impending document dump before the 2020 election would be Russian disinformation, leading the social media giant mistakenly to suppress The Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story.

“The American people deserve to know whether the FBI used Facebook as part of their alleged plan to discredit information about Hunter Biden,” wrote the Senators. “If so, Congress and the American people require clarity with respect to the extent the FBI communicated with Facebook during the 2020 election about Hunter Biden-related information.”

Sens. Johnson and Grassley said Zuckerberg’s revelation that Facebook took steps to censor information about Hunter Biden on its platform based on the FBI’s guidance “raises even more questions about the FBI’s actions regarding Hunter Biden’s laptop.

“As you may know, whistleblowers have recently alleged to Senator Grassley that in August 2020, FBI officials initiated a scheme to downplay derogatory information on Hunter Biden for the purpose of shutting down investigative activity relating to his potential criminal exposure by labeling it ‘disinformation.’

  16. Oh, wow! Gorgeous!!!

Entire Article @ NYP: “It looked like a portal to a whimsical parallel universe. The internet was left in shock over a “rainbow cloud” that emerged over a city in China like some interdimensional phenomenon. A clip of the meteorological anomaly amassed more than 28 million views with gawkers wondering what could have caused it, Jam Press reported.

In the awe-inspiring footage, shot in Haikou city, Hainan, and posted on Aug. 26, the resplendent circle can be seen hovering over a dark cloud like some sort of cosmic shaved ice. As it turns out, the extraterrestrial-seeming spectacle is actually a pileus or scarf cloud, smooth clouds that form atop a growing cumulus — dense, puffy and white — cloud due to updrafts from a thunderstorm, per Jam Press.

“The rapidly rising air in the updraft of a towering cumulus pushes against the cooler air above it, condensing the moisture right along the top of the updraft,” the Weather Network described. “The end result is a graceful pileus donning its neighboring cloud like a cap.”

The rainbow halo is actually an atmospheric optical phenomenon called cloud iridescence. This occurs when “water droplets or ice crystals in the cloud diffract the light around the outside of the droplet, as opposed to bending the light through it,” according to Weather Channel meteorologist Jen Carfagno.

She explained to CBS News that “the colors of the spectrum are not as neat and organized in iridescence as in a rainbow,” adding that “cloud iridescence reminds me of pixie dust or unicorn sprinkles.”

The internet was awestruck by the rainbow cloud. “That is a real atmospheric event as unbelievable as it seems,” marveled one armchair meteorologist on Twitter. “Mother nature stunner!” “China created a portal into another world,” quipped one Twitter wit, while another speculated that the flamboyant-looking fog was caused by a “flying spaghetti monster god.”

However, who can be trusted with such power? In all the countries in the world where euthanasia is legal, it has been abused and, in some cases, in awful ways. And that includes withholding treatment, like that young boy in the UK a few years ago…..I can’t recall his name right now and I think Trump even offered to send his plane for him but the UK wouldn’t allow it. The young parents took it to some international court and were denied. There was a doctor here who was pioneering a new treatment and he agreed to try it if the boy could get to the US – I think it involved his brain, some rare illness. He was allowed to die by the UK health system. Absolutely despicable!!!

    FTA
On Feb 1 at 2:11 am, one of the turbine’s 11-story tall blades flew the full length of a football field and plowed a 4-feet deep furrow in a wheat field. The heavy-duty bolts that kept the blade attached to the tower scattered like shrapnel.

PGE’s flagship wind facility, which opened 15 years ago to expand green energy technology in Oregon and nationally had other warning signs as well according to the outlet but it wasn’t until the blade breakdown that the company took action at Biglow Canyon, one of Oregon’s largest wind farms, and shut down all 217 turbines for testing, keeping some out of service for four months.

Though industry groups insist that wind farms are very safe and major malfunctions are rare, wind farms are growing older and components are aging.

An investigation by The Oregonian found a massive set of maintenance problems and equipment failures that are reducing electricity generation at Biglow Canyon.

  23. Sliding down……well, I’m back and you should prepare yourselves for what is, IMO, one of the most mind-boggling things anyone who is a parent could ever hear!!!! For the Catholics here – say 10 Hail Mary’s; for the Christians – say the Lord’s Prayer 10 times – be exceedingly grateful and thank the good Lord above that my Sister was available to take the brunt of my venting……and for my stop at Michael’s!!!! Not to mention Mom, Patty, and Marilyn, all of whom I’ve called.

Sis is the one person I can call to scream and vent and cuss and never once does she raise her voice. Very calm, pragmatic, level-headed – I was literally shaking when I first talked to her. By the time I got to Michael’s, at least that had stopped.

I arrived at P’s house and saw that SIL’s vehicle was not there, thankfully. I opened the garage door and what do I see???? A brand spanking new red extended cab F150 with the BIG Triton engine; sitting next to it was a brand spanking new Harley Davidson motor-cycle….a BIG HD!!!!
I managed to keep it together – thankfully, Jay (his Dad) was sleeping, as I knew he would be – opened the container of peaches and set them on the counter; put the ice cream in the freezer; and put the 2 cukes I brought for them on the counter. You would have been proud of me!!! I didn’t even slam the door on my way out!!!!

And he can’t afford to pay for her last two eye appointments???? No doubt they are financed by Jay (since he is basically close to his deathbed, no doubt he’s thinking when he dies, the loans will be paid off w/the insurance written into the loan and SIL will get them free-and-clear – he is very calculating like that) but, if he/they can afford those payments, they can afford to pay for TWO appointments!!!! This is her eyesight we’re talking about!!

So he switched with someone else and worked until 3:30 today. Since I needed to be at P’s in the a.m. so as to miss the POS, I couldn’t wait. But we talked on the phone for a bit.

  24. EXCERPTS: “On Aug. 22, The Pulse released a presentation by Dr. Madhava Setty, senior science editor at The Defender, that offered an effective way to engage healthcare professionals who are willing to discuss COVID-19 vaccine safety concerns.

“Those who were initially skeptical of the COVID-19 jabs have been proven correct over and over,” said Setty, “however, many of us have forgotten how to communicate with folks who have been subjected to sophisticated programming coming from mainstream media and our own public health agencies for a long time.”

Setty continued: “We must realize that it is highly unlikely that there will ever be any open admission of the grave mistakes that were made by our entrusted officials. The truth about what was done will emerge from the bottom up, from us.

“The reason why this presentation has been so effective is because it is based on information everyone can agree upon, no matter how one feels about the pandemic response. When we methodically examine what was known at the vaccine campaign’s inception, we end up with far more questions than answers.

“There are no third-party opinions. I cite only data from the FDA [U.S. Food and Drug Administration], the CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] and communiques from Pfizer. The information I offer here cannot be refuted, even by the most ardent vaccine proponents.”

But vaccine proponents have been entrenched in the “safe and effective” narrative for nearly two years. Nevertheless, Setty believes we are at a turning point: “We have an opportunity to change public opinion in a big way right now. The CDC has recently announced ‘streamlined’ guidelines that make no distinction based on vaccination status. People are finally beginning to ask if their compliance and sacrifices were necessary and whether the proposed bivalent vaccines should be trusted.”

Part 1 of the presentation demonstrates how both mainstream and independent media platforms have been disingenuous. Setty then dissects the most relevant findings from the published Pfizer trial data and explains why former trial coordinator and now whistleblower Brook Jackson’s allegations are credible and damning.

Part 2, released on Aug. 25, explains how the FDA and the CDC use double standards to hide clear danger signals coming from their adverse event reporting systems while exaggerating the risk of COVID-19. Pointing out double standards is often the only means available to dismantle dogmatic thinking, as Setty explained in a Defender article earlier this year.

  25. EXCERPT: “Federal data published Aug. 25 show that nonfinancial corporate profits in the U.S. surged to an all-time record of $2 trillion in the second quarter of 2022 as companies continued jacking up prices, pushing inflation to a 40-year high to the detriment of workers and consumers.

According to figures released by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), corporate profit margins over the past three months were the widest they’ve been since the 1950s as ongoing price hikes pad the bottom lines of large businesses — and eat into the paychecks of employees.

“We can argue until the cows come home about the cause of inflation,” Chris Becker, senior economist at the Groundwork Collaborative, wrote in response to the new data. “But we can’t lose sight of the basic moral point that it is outrageous that corporations are seeing skyrocketing profits while purchasing power for so many American households is declining.”

Bloomberg noted Thursday that “with household budgets squeezed by the rising cost of living, some firms have been able to offset any slip in demand by charging more to the customers they’ve retained.” “Across the economy, adjusted pretax corporate profits increased 6.1% in the April-to-June period from the prior quarter — the fastest pace in a year — after falling 2.2% in the first three months of the year,” the outlet continued.

“Profits are up 8.1% from a year earlier.”

Rakeen Mabud, the Groundwork Collaborative’s chief economist, said in a statement that the “astronomical corporate profits confirm what corporate executives have been telling us on earning calls over and over again: They’re making a lot of money by charging people more, and they don’t plan on bringing prices down anytime soon.”

“Corporate profiteering continues in full force — and all of us are paying the price,” Mabud added. “This data should be a wake-up call for policymakers. Megacorporations are a key driver of high prices — and we need bold action to rein them in.”
