Why Was Stonehenge Built?

Many, many years of investigation, analysis and speculation has been accomplished thru the ages. We now know how old Stonehenge is, where the stones came from, and how it was constructed, but none of this tells us who built it.

Older theories involving Saxons, Danes, Romans, Phoenicians, and even the Druids are obviously ruled out by the date of the monument. None of these groups was around in the Neolithic or Bronze Age of Britain.

Not surprisingly, much of the ink spilled over Stonehenge in centuries of debate has been concerning its purpose. Early antiquarians tended to see Stonehenge as a “monument,” without any specific use, although they did usually believe that it commemorated a particular event, such as Geoffrey of Monthouth’s theory that it was built in memory of the Bristons slaughtered by the Saxons.

From Aubrey and Stukeley’s time the idea of Stonehenge as a Druid temple dominated the literature, but as the Druids slipped from the scene so did the identification as a temple. The axis of Stonehenge is clearly on the midsummer sunrise/midwinter sunset line, with the sun-rise occurring over the avenue, leading to the conclusion that this was probably the more important astronomical feature.

Professor Gerald Hawkins’ theory of astronomical alignments at Stonehenge

It took an American Astronomer, Dr. Gerald Hawkins of Boston University, to break the silence. He surveyed the possible alignments presented by the monument, then fed the results into a computer to see if they had any astronomical significance. Setting the computer to cross-check the lines against a map of the heavens set at a date of 1500 B.C., he came up with a whole pattern of solar and lunar alignments (but none for the planets or stars) that he decided could not possibly be the result of chance.

Archaeologists today have returned to ideas of Stonehenge as a ceremonial center. The early wooden phase seems to have involved circles of timbers at the middle of the monument, with access tightly controlled by a wooden passageway and fencing. Even the entrances through the ditch had a forest of posts set into them, making it difficult just to walk in.

The later stone circles and horseshoe continue in the same vein, with access restricted by the stones themselves, and visibility of events at the center of the monument obscured for thsoe outside. The avenue seems quite clearly to be a processional way, when its course is followed. This runs in an arc around Stonehenge, going down into a dip.

America’s Stonehenge, Salem, NH

Only after continuing for some time out of sight of the monument does its course begin to climb again, at which point visitors saw the stone circle standing out proud against the skyline. Inside the circular sacred area defined by the bank and ditch they would have seen a crowd of worshippers, and occasional glimpses of those directing ceremonies from the center of the stones.

For those privileged few looking out from the heart of the monument, the high point of the year must have been the moment when the Sun rose over the avenue on midsummer morning. So perhaps it is not too wide of the mark to see Stonehenge as a Sun temple.

Emerald Robinson: Why Was Ghislaine Maxwell Doing Fundraisers For Disney in 1985?

Photos of convicted pedophile Ghislaine Maxwell hosting an event called “Happy Family Disney Day” in 1985 have surfaced on the Internet today. It’s the ultimate PR nightmare.

It’s going to be very hard for Disney to claim that it’s not a pro-pedophile organization when it literally took donations from the world’s most infamous (still) living pedophile and “groomer to the stars.”

…But, wait, there’s more. In 2019, Project Veritas broke a major story: a TV reporter named Amy Robach was caught on tape talking about how her network ABC News had killed her story on Jeffrey Epstein.

    Who owned ABC News? Disney.

And, finally, what if I told you that Disney owned and operated a cruise line for families in the Caribbean? And what if I told you that those cruise ships offered a snorkeling trip for adults and kids to Jeffrey Epstein’s private island for years?

Why did BLM buy LA mansion for $5.8m from developer friend who paid $3.1m for it just six days earlier? Transaction ‘raises serious questions’ – but founder Patrisse Cullors says criticism is ‘racist and sexist’

The six bedroom 1930s mansion in the Studio City neighborhood of Los Angeles was bought on October 21, 2020 for $3.1 million by a BLM-linked developer
Dyane Pascall, a real estate developer who worked for the consulting firm run by BLM founder Patrisse Cullors and her partner, bought it from a televangelist
Six days later, on October 27, the house was bought in cash by BLM’s shell company for $5.8 million – 250 percent above the average price for the area

  6. more about those 2 foreigners (they had both Iranian & Pakistani visas) infiltrating ss
    FTA
The two men certainly had chutzpah and a sick sense of humor. In addition to their actual lethal weapons, they also had an Airsoft rifle. They filed it at someone whom they claimed to be recruiting for DHS in order “to evaluate their [sic] pain tolerance and reaction.” After being shot, Taherzadeh and Ali informed the “applicant” that his hiring was being processed. They then used the same person to conduct research about someone who gave support to the Department of Defense and U.S. intelligence.

It was all an elaborate fraud that involved a great deal of money, and a huge number of lies made to myriad federal and D.C. police and other authorities. Although the government has not stated any motive behind Taherzadeh’s and Ali’s conduct, it seems telling that, according to the Daily Mail, prosecutors have said that they found both Pakistani and Iranian visas when they searched the men’s apartment.

I really don’t know what to make of this story right now. Mostly, it indicates that our current crop of federal employees, including Secret Service agents, are a credulous bunch who can be dazzled with the trappings of officialdom. Just as I find unnerving an FBI special agent’s belief in the magical weapon called an “assault rifle,” I’m extremely uncomfortable learning that those charged with security in our government are, at best, so naïve and, at worst, so corrupt, that they’d be dazzled by these two men who are, at best, con artists and, at worst, agents of Iran, a country openly at war with us since 1979.

The potential Iran connection makes all of this seem even worse when you consider that Joe Biden, with help from Putin’s Russia, is currently negotiating with Iran a deal so bad for America that even some Democrats are uncomfortable with what he’s doing.

  7. Huh…..that was interesting. Just watched a few parts of the BB Musk interview……can a person develop Aspergers as they age???? ‘Cause that sure sounds like me the way I am now…..I’ve wondered more than once – indeed, I’ve even commented before about it – if I could be considered as being “on the autism scale.”

EXCERPT: “Asperger syndrome, or Asperger’s, is a previously used diagnosis on the autism spectrum. In 2013, it became part of one umbrella diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5 (DSM-5).

Typical to strong verbal language skills and intellectual ability distinguish Asperger syndrome from other types of autism. Asperger syndrome generally involves:

    Difficulty with social interactions
    Restricted interests
    Desire for sameness
    Distinctive strengths

    Strengths can include:

    Remarkable focus and persistence
    Aptitude for recognizing patterns
    Attention to detail

    Challenges can include:

Hypersensitivities (to lights, sounds, tastes, etc.)
Difficulty with the give and take of conversation
Difficulty with nonverbal conversation skills (distance, loudness, tone, etc.)
    Uncoordinated movements, or clumsiness
    Anxiety and depression

    https://www.autismspeaks.org/types-autism-what-asperger-syndrome

As for developing it as a person ages…..I’ve certainly been thru some major transitions in the last 10-15 years.

EXCERPT: “Why Might You Worry About Developing Asperger’s As An Adult?

What can happen to adults is a change in circumstances that causes subtle signs of an existing Asperger’s condition to become much more obvious. Major transitions like graduation from high school or college, marriage, a new job or loss of an existing job, or a relationship breakup often magnify the existing signs of Asperger’s. Each of these transitions pushes the adult into an increasingly complex social and emotional world, which in turn brings to the forefront the person’s existing, but heretofore hidden, challenges.

Many children with Asperger’s are able to fake normality but at a certain point, when they experience the full complexity of adult life, the hidden challenges of Asperger’s hit them and those challenges become obvious to them and others.

The bottom line is, if your development was completely normal and there were no indications that you had any of the characteristics of Asperger’s at a very early age, you are not likely to developing Asperger’s in adulthood.”

  9. Hmmm….doing some research on Musk…..look at the lawyer involved – Lin Wood!!!

From Wiki: “In July 2018, Musk arranged for his employees to build a small rescue pod to assist the rescue of children stuck in a flooded cavern in Thailand.[192] Richard Stanton, leader of the international rescue diving team, urged Musk on in construction of the mini-submarine as a back-up, in case flooding worsened.[193] Named “Wild Boar” after the children’s soccer team,[194] its design was a five-foot (1.5 m)-long, 12-inch (30 cm)-wide sealed tube weighing about 90 pounds (41 kg) propelled manually by divers in the front and back with segmented compartments to place diver weights to adjust buoyancy,[195][196] intended to solve the problem of safely extracting the children. Engineers at SpaceX and The Boring Company built the mini-submarine out of a Falcon 9 liquid oxygen transfer tube[197] in eight hours and personally delivered it to Thailand.[195] By this time, however, eight of the 12 children had already been rescued using full face masks and oxygen under anesthesia; consequently Thai authorities declined to use the submarine.[198] Elon Musk was later one of the 187 people who received various honors conferred by the King of Thailand in March 2019 for involvement in the rescue effort, e.g. the Order of the Direkgunabhorn.[199][200]

Vernon Unsworth, a British recreational caver who had been exploring the cave for the previous six years and played a key advisory role in the rescue, criticized the submarine on CNN as amounting to nothing more than a public relations effort with no chance of success, and that Musk “had no conception of what the cave passage was like” and “can stick his submarine where it hurts”. Musk asserted on Twitter that the device would have worked and referred to Unsworth as “pedo guy”.[201] He subsequently deleted the tweets, along with an earlier tweet in which he told another critic of the device, “Stay tuned jackass.”[201] On July 16, Unsworth stated that he was considering legal action.[202][203]

Two days later, Musk issued an apology for his remarks.[204][205] Then, on August 28, 2018, in response to criticism from a writer on Twitter, Musk tweeted, “You don’t think it’s strange he hasn’t sued me?”[206] The following day, a letter dated August 6 from L. Lin Wood, the rescuer’s attorney, emerged, showing that he had been making preparations for a libel lawsuit.[207][208]”
    ———————–
In September, Unsworth filed a defamation suit in Los Angeles federal court.[215][216] In his defense, Musk argued that in slang usage “‘pedo guy’ was a common insult used in South Africa when I was growing up… synonymous with ‘creepy old man’ and is used to insult a person’s appearance and demeanor.”[217] The defamation case began in December 2019, with Unsworth seeking $190 million in damages.[218] During the trial Musk apologized to Unsworth again for the tweet. On December 6, the jury found in favor of Musk and ruled he was not liable.[219][220]”

I was also privileged to call the first-ever Puerto Rican Guard, Miguel Matos, a friend – he was my hubby’s roommate in the barracks. In this video, at the 8:07 mark, this guy talks about a Sergeant who helped him pass the test to be a Guard. That sergeant later served in Afghanistan and this is yet another group to whom I supplied body armor, among other items – I remember the dusenhalf that the 3rd Infantry backed into our bay – I helped load it myself.

      1. The video has nothing to do with that bimbo – it’s just a cover pic of her flipping the bird at the Tomb, presumably. He just goes thru the difficulties of becoming a Guard and that he broke one of the two cardinal rules: never drop your weapon and never present a dirty weapon for inspection when coming on duty. He did the latter and barely made it thru.

The German grocer raising prices 50 percent is a load of hooey… maybe the Berlin store, but Berlin exists in an “alternate reality”. Largest increases I’ve seen are for luxury foods for Easter, which is their normal gouge at this time of year. And the German news only spoke of PROPOSED increases, not real increases…

    More “Panikmacherei”, i.e. fear porn.

They’re using the Ukraine to cover for their disastrous “Energy” policies. Transportation costs have been going up long before Vlad started neutralizing the biowarfare labs…

And the Greens have been desperate for a meat tax (forcing everyone into Veganism) for the last few years. What better way to drive up the cost of meat then to drive up the cost of feed? Trouble is, there are other sources and types of feed, as well as other meats (pork, poultry, game, etc.).

If they took out the land devoted to grain earmarked (so to speak) for Ethanol, there’d be more fodder there, too…

Sad to say, Carly’s mantra is showing up again: “perception is reality”. Göbbels would be proud, were he not toasting in Hell…..

  14. lengthy report on election problems in PA…probably be ignored. dems say nothing here to see
    FTA
The Supreme Court made clear in Bush v. Gore that “the right to vote is protected in more than the initial allocation of the franchise.” The Equal Protection clause requires both that the right to vote be granted on equal terms, but also that the state “not, by later arbitrary and disparate treatment, value one person’s vote over that of any.” The emails highlighted in Tuesday’s hearing suggest that such “arbitrary and disparate treatment” occurred in 2020, with the governor’s office and select counties as willful participants.

Individuals representing the secretary of state’s office and Philadelphia County also testified at Tuesday’s hearing and attempted to downplay the disparity by stressing that large counties had different needs. Delaware County spent some $600,000 on “Bluecrest mail sorting equipment” one witness stressed, while an election official from Philadelphia county noted it expended huge sums of grant money to purchase modern machines to “open, sort, and tabulate” votes in that county.

But rather than support their “nothing to see here” response, Delaware and Philadelphia County’s purchase of the high-tech Bluecrest mail-sorting equipment highlights a second Equal Protection problem seen in the 2020 election.

As I reported shortly after the election, evidence shows that Philadelphia and other Democrat strongholds illegally engaged in pre-canvasing activities by inspecting mail-in ballots before election day. They did this by weighing the ballots on the Bluecrest sorting equipment to determine if the voter had enclosed the ballot in a “sleeve” as required by state law. Election workers in Philadelphia and other select counties then provided campaign workers the list of allegedly defective ballots—ones without a sleeve—allowing activists to contact the voters, telling them to cast a new vote.

While the Bluecrest sorting equipment used in Philadelphia and Delaware County can detect which ballots are defective based on their thickness or weight, smaller counties without that sophisticated equipment could not conduct such pre-canvas inspections, which in any event violate the state’s election code.

  15. here’s my Friday night movie recommendation
    Hudson Hawk

    from wikipedia:
Hudson Hawk is a 1991 American action comedy film directed by Michael Lehmann.[2] Bruce Willis stars in the title role and also co-wrote both the story and the theme song[citation needed]. Danny Aiello, Andie MacDowell, James Coburn, David Caruso, Lorraine Toussaint, Frank Stallone, Sandra Bernhard and Richard E. Grant are also featured.[3]

The live action film employs cartoon-style slapstick heavily, including sound effects, which enhances the film’s signature surreal humour. The plot combines material based on conspiracy theories, secret societies, and historic mysteries, as well as outlandish “clockpunk” technology à la Coburn’s Our Man Flint films of the 1960s.[4]

A recurring plot device in the film has Hudson and his partner Tommy “Five-Tone” (Aiello) singing songs concurrently but separately, to time and synchronize their exploits. Willis-Aiello duets of Bing Crosby’s “Swinging on a Star” and Paul Anka’s “Side by Side” are featured on the film’s soundtrack.

    from Rotten Tomatoes
Thief extraordinaire Hudson Hawk (Bruce Willis) has just been released from prison and all he wants is a nice cappuccino. However, before he can savor his favorite beverage, the highly eccentric and wealthy Darwin Mayflower (Richard E. Grant) and his equally odd wife, Minerva (Sandra Bernhard), rope Hawk into an ambitious series of heists. Soon Hawk is stealing no less than major works by Leonardo Da Vinci, priceless pieces that the Mayflowers plan to use in an exceedingly nefarious way.

definitely not well received. but quirky and fun imo
