After making it through BT and AIT, I was one of two women selected for a special assignment to the Military District of Washington (MDW).
We settled into the brick WAC Shack at Ft. Myer, called that for obvious reasons, at Ft. Myer, VA – it was also called the Cat House because there were 2 black cats that hung out around the barracks. The women all fed and took care of them. And of course there’s that old double entendre again!
WAC Shack Black Cats
The common area on each floor contained couches, coffee tables, tables and chairs, several TVs, and vending machines for snacks. They also had vending machines with beer, sodas, juices and water. Just like a college dorm.
Carole and I were both finally assigned to a long-term program called the SDRP at the Pentagon and shared office space with 7-8 other people. That summer, the head guy asked his secretary, Sylvia, to plan an outing for everyone – a dinner cruise on the riverboat Dandy. Fancy meal, cruising down the river, gazing at the lights of DC, music playing, dancing, with the partner of our choice or none at all – I wasn’t seeing anyone at the time. Sounded delightful! But it was a BYOB – they couldn’t pay for alcohol.
I bought a bottle of Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila – I cracked it and had one shot, capped it and stashed it in my wall locker until the party – expensive shit for a lowly little PFC!! I promptly forgot about it – it was several weeks yet before the party. At some point in the next week or so, the 1st Sergeant called a surprise inspection of our wing of the barracks.
Late that morning, Sylvia waved me over and said in a low key voice…”You have a call from the CSM at MDW and he doesn’t sound happy!” Uh-oh! So I picked up the phone and the first thing I heard was, “PFC Atkins, please do NOT tell me you had a bottle of tequila in your wall locker!”
Uh…..”yes CSM.” “Were you not aware, PFC Atkins, that you are NOT allowed to have alcohol beverages in your wall locker?” “No, CSM.” Deep sigh….”PFC Atkins, report to the 1st Seargeant at Ft. Meyer no later than 4 pm today.” “Yes, CSM.”
I was scared to death – oh, fuck! I was in BIG trouble. One did NOT want to face the 1st SGT!!!! So, off I went on the bus from the Pentagon to Ft. Myer. I presented myself to his secretary and was ushered into his office. I marched over and stood at attention in front of his desk.
(Not me but that style of uniform)
He toyed with me – oh, man, did he EVER toy with me! Question after question after question, reading me the riot act. All the while, I was “Yes, 1st Sergeant’ing” continuously. After I explained, in detail, the cruise that Col. Miller had arranged for us, he then turned to the tequila.
Hmmm, he said, “Cuervo Gold – that’s good tequila!” “Yes, 1st SGT.” “That’s expensive tequila!” “Yes, 1st SGT.” “That bottle has barely been cracked!” “Yes, 1st SGT.” “Sure would be a shame to pour it out!” “YES, 1ST SGT!”
Meanwhile, he’s walking over to the sink (oh, shit!) and starts to uncap it and tip it over the sink. Watching me all the while. Azzwipe!!! He then stopped, capped the bottle, returned to his desk and told me never, ever to have liquor in my wall locker again. He was willing to turn the bottle over to a family member or friend from off-base who would keep it for me until the party.
The only acceptable person I knew was Sylvia, from the office. She graciously agreed to come with me on the bus to Ft. Meyer, collect the bottle directly from the 1st SGT, and hold it for me until the party.
We returned to the Pentagon – she took that bottle of tequila and stashed it in the safe behind her desk!!!! That is where it remained until the party.
SMDH – can’t have the danged thing in my wall locker but we COULD store it in the safe, with all of the classified documents, at the Pentagon!!!!!
WHO KNEW!!??!!??

Yes, she is and big on using our own energy – she was a great Governor of Alaska. But the way she talks is irritating to me (just like Laura) and her family situation was so fricking messy! Then trying to sue the NY Slimes (I think that’s who it was) about claiming she put a target on Gabby Giffords back? Years and years after the fact? No, sorry – that’s just attention seeking and glory hound behavior, IMO. Her daughter was fucked up, her son was fucked up, now her hubby has joined the club and they’ve split. Just WAY too much mess!

As with every other person on earth, she is complicated but, overall, I would vote for her. Besides, she has a daughter named Piper! Also, her youngest has Down’s syndrome – she knew early-on in the pregnancy but made the decision to proceed. Gotta respect that, no matter what!

2 AA girls perpetrate yet ANOTHER racial hate hoax…they got caught and it’s not determined if there will be criminal charges? if it were real and there would be criminal charges, why wouldn’t fraud committed for the same purpose be criminal?
FTA
On Tuesday, 3/22/2022, at approximately 5:14 p.m. school officials at Rosemont High School, Sacramento City Unified School District in the County of Sacramento reported racist graffiti that had been written in pencil on the wall of a hallway inside a campus building. Two Rosemont High School students were observed writing a racial obscenity. The pencil graffiti resulted in minimal physical damage.
The case was referred to detectives who worked closely with the school district and administrators. Rosemont High School Administrators were able to obtain video surveillance footage showing two African-American female juveniles clearly writing the graffiti on the wall. From the video, school officials and detectives learned the identities of both students.
The Sheriff’s Office said it would look into whether the hate hoax warrants criminal charges.
The incident is reminiscent of the hate hoax saga that engulfed disgraced actor Jussie Smollett, who made false police reports after staging his own beating with the help of two friends.

Patty went on a rant yesterday via e-mail! She’s fired up! LOL – TX and Wyoming share the 1st female governor distinction.
“Seems when I was in Texas, learning history, etc…that when Texas was invaded everyone went to the border – with their guns – and drove the invaders OUT!! What the f*(#k has changed?? Aren’t people allowed to protect their property/state??? I can’t imagine that there aren’t enough REAL Texans (or Arizona, too – somehow no one goes to New Mexico??) that aren’t sending the “posse” or “Texas Rangers” out to protect OUR border and OUR State!!! WTF???
This has bothered me for years…anyone have an answer??? Maybe I should send this to the LT Gov of Texas who appears to be quite the renegade…
Guess it’s good I DON’T live on the border…think looking at a double barrel might make them go back to where they came from, ya think??”
To me: “If you want to post my tirade online, go ahead. Just mention that I grew up in Texas with Texas values and GRIT with ancestors who knew what needed to be done to protect their state…”Don’t mess with Texas Women” is not just a bumper sticker…Texas had the first female Governor (I think!)…my soul is still Texan through and through even though I don’t live there anymore…once a Texan, always a Texan!!!!!!!!!!!!”

“April 2, 2022: Jada Pinkett Smith’s Brief Moment as the Most Powerful Woman in Hollywood
By Trish Randall
The stage set was overwhelmingly dark, an orange glow at the bottom, with pale, curved, upright lines. It made me think of Jonah and the Whale. It looked nothing like celebration, glamor or achievement. It was just darkness, heaviness.
The show was already under a pall. Ratings for Oscars broadcasts had been dropping steeply for years, and Sunday night’s show continued the trend. (Even with a small, brief increase in TV viewers, social media were where the viewers tuned in once word of the incident began to spread.)
Chris Rock directed a joke to married couple, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz, saying that if Penelope doesn’t win, Javier had better not — and that Javier was praying for Will Smith to win. The clear implication was that even the highest honor the Academy could bestow to an actor wasn’t worth having if his wife was not being similarly honored. Chris Rock’s focus then shifted to Jada Pinkett Smith, saying, “I love you, Jada. G.I. Jane 2. Can’t wait to see it.” Will Smith laughed. Jada rolled her eyes. Then Will marched onto the stage; hit Chris Rock in the face; went back to his seat; and, looking overwhelmed with fury, dropped a couple of F-bombs on Chris.
I’ve watched the video multiple times, and I noticed a split-second, while she was facing Chris Rock, where Jada had a slight, tight smile. Then she rolled her eyes, pursed her lips and turned toward her husband.
Another thing I noticed was that the joke was not mean. Chris Rock was saying 50-something Jada could play the fierce, determined, and successful character that famously beautiful Demi Moore had played at 35. (Demi also appeared on the red carpet with a shaved head.) It’s not as though he had said she could play Elmer Fudd in the next Space Jam.
Soon after his father assaulted Chris Rock, Jaden Smith tweeted, “And That’s How We Do It,” as if it was a moment of family pride. About forty minutes later, Will Smith was announced to have won Best Actor and gave a tearful speech including an apology to the academy and attendees — but not to Chris Rock. The crowd responded with a standing ovation. (Later, Will would post another, rambling apology, which did include Chris.)
A few days later, on March 31, video surfaced showing Jada laughing as Will was returning to his seat. Not just a chuckle — she was laughing hard. This may have changed how some people view the incident. For me, it was more like the confirmation of a suspicion.
Chris Rock said he didn’t know Jada had alopecia. I can believe that. A woman shaving her head is not rare and shocking as it was when Demi Moore did it in 1997. There are many, many videos on You Tube of young women shaving their heads, with comment sections full of compliments. Will’s and Jada’s daughter, Willow, has also shaved her head a number of times. Photos from that night, in places with brighter lighting than the Dolby Theater, show Jada’s head covered evenly with stubble and her hairline entirely intact. She was close-shaved, not bald. Four days before the Oscars, she posted a video on TikTok proclaiming how much she loves her bald head, which she had shaved in response to developing alopecia.
Most forms of autoimmune alopecia cause patchy, transitory hair loss (follicles remain able to grow hair again). The severe forms of alopecia are totalis (total head hair loss) and universalis (all head and body hair lost). Traction alopecia is follicle damage caused by extremely tight hairstyles, chemical processing, or head gear. The latter three types are most likely to be permanent. Even the most severe forms of alopecia are not debilitating or life-threatening. The milder forms are more akin to embarrassing skin conditions like foot fungus and warts. Portraying Will Smith hitting Chris Rock as a chivalrous defense of an ill wife is laying it on a bit thick.
The troubles in the Smiths’ 24-year marriage have been well known for years, made public by the Smiths themselves. Page 6 published an article about their “open marriage” only eight days before the Oscars ceremony. Last year, they posted video talking about the difficulties in their relationship. She characterized her infidelity with their friend August Alsina as “an entanglement.” Will was pulling teeth to get her even to say it was a relationship, never mind infidelity or betrayal. Jada justified her behavior as a reaction to unhappiness and “not feeling good” for a long time, implying Will had some responsibility for her suffering. Jada was dry-eyed discussing the difficulties within their marriage. Images of Will crying during the video have been incorporated into numerous memes.
The Smiths’ children are flamboyant. At age 10, Willow went on tour with Justin Bieber after recording her hit “Whip My Hair.” One morning, she came to the kitchen bald. Will’s description of the incident was that seeing her shaved head gave him the realization that she didn’t want to tour anymore. In a family that proclaims its household rules that children have full freedom of expression, and can tell their parents anything, one would think young Willow wouldn’t need to go to such an extreme to communicate the desire to quit touring. Her brother, Jaden, requested emancipated minor status as a fifteenth birthday present from their parents. Will Smith attributed the request to his and Jada’s “hands off approach” to parenting. Again, Will describes himself as a reading a nonverbal cue from a child permitted full expression.
Over the 24 years the Smiths have been married, Will’s career has been solid, and he’s been one of Hollywood’s more respected actors. Jada’s career has been…well, spotty. I can’t think any movie I’ve seen her in.
What I saw in that violent outburst in the Dolby Auditorium was neither a performance aimed to generate ratings nor a man defending a suffering wife. I saw a man, Will Smith, on the verge of reaching his professional pinnacle, in front of people he respects and admires, broadcast to anyone in the world who wanted to watch. Even the night’s comedy performer, Chris Rock, foreshadowed Will Smith winning the Oscar. It was the perfect moment to spoil, and Jada took the opportunity to ruin it for him. Even if he isn’t forced to return the statue, that Oscar will always be tinged with the very public, violent loss of control that preceded the award.
As a bonus, winners of all the other Oscars, and wearers of fabulous fashions, have been virtually ignored. All the post-Oscars discussion has centered around Jada. Jada’s hair loss. Jada’s suffering. Jada’s “illness.” Jada’s “medical condition.” Her husband Will, defending his Jada.
It’s all about Jada.”

EXCERPTS: “Viktor Orban has now served twelve years as Prime Minister of Hungary, emerging as one of the most exemplary conservative leaders of our time. On Sunday, he once again faces re-election, as he seeks to lead Hungary for a fourth term as Prime Minister. Although this is a pivotal election for Hungary and for Europe, it is also vital for American conservatives to hope and pray for an Orban victory.
For one, Orban has shown what populist conservatives can do when given sufficient time and political capital to succeed. While it is true that the system of government in Hungary and its relative age has prevented the development of a U.S.-style “deep state,” Orban’s refreshing willingness to use power for conservative ends has not only allowed him to deliver on ideological priorities, but also to benefit the Hungarian people. His innovative family policies have seen birthrates rise; his independent foreign policy has allowed his country to wield outsized influence with regional and world powers; and his fortitude on immigration has helped preserve Hungarian national identity.
In addition, with the ongoing destabilization of neighboring Ukraine, a strong Hungary under Prime Minister Orban is critical. A weak and chaotic government in Budapest is exactly what these globalists want, as it is more likely to do their bidding. This will come at the expense of the Hungarian people, who will face indecision and disarray, and the American people, who will lose one of the few genuine allies we have in the world.
With President Trump having been ousted by election fraud and President Bolsonaro at risk of a similar coup, Orban may well be the last man standing in the Western national-populist movement. Just as he stood by us in January 2021 in recognizing Stop The Steal as an internal affair of the United States – at a time when most of the world’s nations were condemning our President and our movement – we should stand by him on Sunday.”

“Progressives have a pedophilia problem. Full stop, as the Barack Obamas of the world might say. From CNN producers to Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) station chiefs and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) field agents; from the woke Disney corporation to Democrat donors; from Hollywood to the North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA); from Facebook/Meta to the Lincoln Project to America’s public school system — the progressive Left has a demonstrated prurient interest in underage children.
This is not guilt by association, innuendo, or conjecture; it is a firmly established fact pattern. And this is not to suggest that no Republicans have ever espoused or committed similar atrocities against children; extremely rare countervailing exceptions like Republican Dennis Hastert (who, unlike Democrats, was actually imprisoned in part for his crimes of child molestation) prove the rule that many Democrats have a strong affinity for pedophilia and the normalization of the same.
Empirically and factually, an overwhelming majority of public figures who are confirmed and aspiring pedophiles (along with pedo-friendly corporations like Disney) are progressive Democrats in terms of political orientation. All of this is hushed up by our progressive media, and thanks to progressive privilege, virtually nobody is ever prosecuted or punished. Why is it never a national scandal when Democrats routinely prey on young children? Simple — because the progressive media protect Democrats far better than Rome’s Praetorian guard ever protected any of the Caesars.
If Jeffrey Epstein’s client roster had been chock-full of identifiable Republicans (instead of Democrats from Bill Clinton to Bill Gates to Bill Richardson — we knew nothing!), or if FOX News producers were outed as skeevy pedo perverts, the earsplitting cacophony from the media would be maximally amped with hysterical shrieks of sustained, collective outrage. Moreover, if the progressive Epstein had instead been a prominent conservative donor and activist, he would’ve been rightly imprisoned decades ago. Perhaps he would even be alive today rather than conveniently dead.
Instead of truth and exposure, we have media silence. A favorite media tactic is the lie by omission. If a station chief or agent from John Brennan’s beloved and woke CIA sexually abuses a two-year-old baby, but CNN producers and the media decide it is not a scandal, then poof, it all goes away. Like the tree falling in the forest with nobody to see or hear it, perhaps it simply never happened at all.
The one time the media did make a national scandal of child molestation was when they saw it as an opportunity to take down the Catholic Church in the wake of the Church’s scandals and cover-ups. But even there, the media’s motive was strictly to discredit and destroy the Church itself, not to condemn the practice of predatory homosexual pedophilia.
If the mental health “professionals” of the progressive American Psychiatric Association (APA) weren’t themselves so deeply mentally and emotionally disturbed, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) would do a deep dive on why the denizens of the left seem vastly more predisposed to acts of pedophilia than traditionalists and people on the Right. Instead, the official position of the APA and most psychiatrists is that conservatives are mentally ill because, well, they’re conservative.
Pick a deep blue state at random — say, Oregon. A former longtime mayor of Beaverton, Dennis “Denny” Doyle, was recently charged with possession of child pornography. But that was nothing new in the Beaver state. There was also popular Portland mayor Sam Adams, who relished pederasty with underage boys. Oh, there was also Democrat governor Neil Goldschmidt, who committed statutory rape against a 13-year-old girl and went on sexually abusing her for many years afterwards. Goldschmidt’s victim’s life was destroyed, and she died decades later at age 49, with drugs, alcohol, and mental illness as contributing factors.
Unlike Dennis Hastert, none of these progressive figures went to prison for his crimes of molesting children. They all got a free pass. And most voters and politicians living near Oregon’s deep blue I-5 corridor between Portland and Eugene didn’t (and don’t) care.
As long as progressive pedophiles and their institutional cheerleaders and enablers have a (D) next to their name, pedophilia does not necessarily conflict with the values of Democrat voters or progressive Supreme Court appointees like Ketanji Brown Jackson. This is the same political party that always screams without irony that it’s for the children.
Democrats, their corporate affiliates, and their voters are likewise indifferent to the widespread sexual trafficking of children near America’s porous border with Mexico, even as they wildly celebrate President Brandon’s recent endorsement of sex “reassignment surgery” and hormone-blockers for children.
To rephrase a couple modern figures of speech: Democrats gonna Democrat. And yes, that is who they are.”

——————-
In a sermon[2] last year at an Irving, Texas, megachurch that helped elect Ted Cruz to the United States Senate, Cruz’ father Rafael Cruz indicated that his son was among the evangelical Christians who are anointed as “kings” to take control of all sectors of society, an agenda commonly referred to as the “Seven Mountains” mandate, and “bring the spoils of war to the priests”, thus helping to bring about a prophesied “great transfer of wealth”, from the “wicked” to righteous gentile believers. link to video[3] of Rafael Cruz describing the “great transfer of wealth” and the role of anointed “kings” in various sectors of society, including government, who are to “bring the spoils of war to the priests”.
Rafael Cruz’ dominionist[4] sermon given August 26, 2012, at the New Beginnings Church of pastor Larry Huch, in Irving, Texas has already received considerable scrutiny due to an excellent Huffington Post commentary[5] by Methodist Associate Pastor Morgan Guyton, who noted the explicitly dominionist nature of pastor Cruz’ sermon, which concerned the divine mandate for believers, with anointing of “kings” in their respective spheres, to take control over all sectors of society.”

EXCERPT: “Dozens of members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives have gone to a federal appeals court in order to blast Joe Biden’s mandate that took over state tax-setting authority during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The American Center for Law and Justice’s Jordan Sekulow reported his organization filed a brief in the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on behalf of 64 members. It’s over Biden’s demand that the federal government control taxes in states – if they take any federal assistance for the COVID-19 disaster, which has killed nearly 600,000 Americans during Biden’s presidency.
“Since taking office, the actions of President Joe Biden have made it apparent that one of his administration’s primary objectives is to wrestle away power from individual states and centralize it all in Washington,” Sekulow explained in his report.
“It’s a gross overreach, and it violates the Constitution of the United States. The ACLJ is not going to stand by and allow it to happen. We just filed a critical amicus brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit on behalf of 64 Members of the U.S. Senate and House.”
He explained the background is that Biden and other Democrats, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, demanded the authority to block states from lower residents’ taxes “if they accepted COVID-19 relief funds.”

EXCERPT: “I’m not certain what prompted me to start down this path again. I’ve written about this in the past – the fact our nation is a representative republic – not a democracy.
Yet how many times have we heard: “Our democracy is under attack.” Too many to count, I would venture.
We usually hear this from the left, quite literally, every time someone on the right complains about the state of our nation. But we also hear this more and more from those on the right – politicians and pundits alike. For many it may be a slip of the tongue. They meant to say republic, but out came democracy.
It may seem like an insignificant think, but it’s not. Words mean things. Heck, to leftists, words can have such profound meaning as to be considered violence.
But seriously, it may well be that the majority of people, even the supposedly smart ones, right and left, really don’t know the difference between a democracy and what the United States is, a representative republic.”

They don’t teach “civics” anymore in school. I took American Gov’t in college last year. It was pretty much the same class I had as a junior or senior in HS back in ’92-’93, Constitutional History and Law. Most of the younger kids in the college class had no idea about how our gov’t actually is set up and how it is supposed to function. Most had zero clue about the electoral college either…oh the triggering that caused! They thought it was the popular vote and that is why a lot thought Trump had “stole” the election from Hillary.

For those of you who still find WND enriching, valuable, satisfying, challenging, necessary, entertaining and worthy of your time in an era of blatant disinformation and wall-to-wall official lying, thank you very much for the part you’ve played in keeping our operation going.
———————
WND made it this far with capital investment totaling less than $5 million, and that was decades ago. When we had, just a few years ago, a book publishing company and also produced popular films that combined to bring in $15 million a year, we thought we had arrived. But that was before Big Tech set out to destroy us. Why? Because we sided with a presidential candidate named Donald Trump. I have no regrets. They tried to destroy him, too.
This has been a humbling experience for me. But WND is still very much alive, and still delivering on its promises to report the news, boldly and truthfully, without fear or favor. We give credit and thanks to God. And to you, for reading and supporting WND.”
———————-
So let me ask you, as we approach our 25th anniversary: If you appreciate what we have done and what we still do here at WND, would you please prayerfully consider helping us right now?”

More on Palin….
EXCERPTS: “First, it’s a powerful seat, given that Alaska’s population is small, and like Wyoming, the state has two senators and just one representative. That makes whoever wins the seat twice as powerful as the senators, so it’s a fitting post for a former governor, not a step downward.
——————-
Here’s another thing: She’d probably be a very good congresswoman, based on her record as governor. Back when I was an editorial writer for Investor’s Business Daily, I interviewed Palin several times for the paper during her governorship, before she was famous and associated with McCain’s presidential ticket.
——————–
I did some digging, though — and asked around about her governing style with the local Alaskans — the bureaucrats, the low guys on the totem pole, the ordinary people. Their verdict? Glowing reviews from them of her executive style – sharp, organized, responsive. That aspect of her record has never gotten much press but it was what I found.
Palin’s visibility and responsiveness to Alaska is a great thing for her state and should go a long way toward pushing Joe Biden to opening up America’s abundant energy sector in Alaska or else shaming him something fierce for not doing it. She’ll be a good advocate for Alaska’s needs, but broadly speaking, America’s needs, too.
———————
It felt like more than injustice to her, it felt like injustice to us. Woe to any outsider with a different accent from seeking public office — the hive would be all over her and try to destroy her. Sound like someone else we know?
But they didn’t destroy her. She’s actually coming back now, showing that the media clown show didn’t break her. That’s a justice of sorts. It’s too soon to say if Palin can win this race, but I believe she can. She’s a fiery voice of common sense in contrast to the lunacy and lies of the Washington swamp culture. She’d also be just the person to take on the nonsensical gibberish of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, calling her right out when she spews a new round of socialist rubbish. Palin herself seems to be targeting this in her campaign statement. If so, excellent. It may just be the right time for her and I for one, would be happy to see her in public life again.”

OK – I just can’t bring any more of this article….it is simply too gruesome to post!!!
EXCERPT: If anyone is caught off guard by the evidence, then they haven’t been paying attention.
According to the Guttmacher Institute, the research arm of the abortion industry, in the U.S. in 2017 there were 862,000 abortions. Around 1% of those abortions are extremely late-term, meaning they occurred after 21 weeks of gestation. (For reference, in 2020, little Curtis Means was born in Alabama at 21 weeks and one day and is now a healthy toddler.) Doing the math, that means every year, around 8,260 abortions are performed on late-term babies: or, around 22 a day.
What happened to the children in D.C. is not an anomaly, it is a daily occurrence. The gruesomeness of abortion is purposely hidden behind the sterile walls of medical offices; but that’s no excuse. Abortion is child sacrifice, and it must end.”

EXCERPT: “Oregon, the first state in the country to legalize assisted suicide, is moving to expand its program by allowing non-residents to travel there solely for the purpose of dying.
After a lawsuit challenged the Oregon residency requirement, the Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Medical Board agreed to stop enforcing the provision. They will also request that the legislature officially remove the residency requirement, allowing death tourism to flourish. “This requirement was both discriminatory and profoundly unfair to dying patients at the most critical time of their life,” Kevin Diaz, an attorney with Compassion & Choices, said in a statement. Diaz denied it could entice suicidal people to flock to Oregon. “There’s no tourism going on.”
Yet the most famous person to undergo assisted suicide in Oregon, Brittany Maynard, moved to Oregon for the sole purpose of killing herself. Countries without residency requirements for assisted suicide, like Switzerland, likewise see people travel from around the world to pay tens of thousands of dollars for doctors to assist in their suicides.
While assisted suicide advocates would surely argue that this simply means more states need to allow doctors to kill their patients, Oregon’s own data should give pause to expanding this deadly program.
The state’s most recent annual report continues to reaffirm that people are undergoing assisted suicide for troubling reasons. Nearly all people who were killed cited “losing autonomy” and “less able to engage in activities making life enjoyable” as their reasoning for being killed, at 93% and 92%, respectively. Oregon has also allowed people to be killed for anorexia now as well — all as Oregon ranks the worst state in the country for mental illness. Yet less than 1% of patients killed were referred to psychiatrists first, even though very few were concerned about uncontrollable pain — the reason most often given for undergoing assisted suicide.”

More religious than I normally favor – however, I support the basic principle as guidance from God to help those “lesser” that oneself…..
EXERPT: “In the Old Testament, in Leviticus, we learn that God required his people to leave the corners of their fields for the poor, the traveler, the fatherless and widows. Later we see that this was how God cared for Ruth, who would become great grandmother to King David.
God didn’t say how big the corners had to be – but one’s generosity (or lack thereof) was on display for everyone to see – big lot, small corners = stingy heart; small lot, big corners = giving heart. This extra provision for the poor was totally separate and apart from offerings and sacrifices the Lord required.
As we prepare for the very real possibility of a post-Roe world, there are those who are all ready to claim victory and retire. I submit that more will be required of us than ever before, as there will be many more desperate, vulnerable women seeking help as dozens of states move to ban abortion.
Will women stop getting pregnant in this broken, chaotic world? Will families be magically made whole and supportive of single, pregnant moms? Will men stop abandoning their women? No, no and no.
————————-
Maybe we aren’t much of an agrarian society anymore, but the concept is the same. So, I am asking you, what are the corners of your fields? Your corners can be as small or large as your circumstances allow, and I pray they are large!
The whole word is watching to see if we ”get it right” in Texas and other states. I pray the church is found shining brightly.”

Yes, there has to be “follow through” on this. We can’t, as the article states, “Claim victory and walk away”. Community and Church should lead by example on things like this, not gov’t.

EXCERPT: “Idaho Governor Brad Little signed a law on March 21 intended to encourage and support families that receive a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome. Advocates of Senate Bill 1270, also known as the Down Syndrome Diagnosis Act, say that it will better serve families who receive a Down syndrome diagnosis.
According to the Post Register, the new law requires the Department of Health and Welfare to create an “up-to-date, evidence-based support sheet about Down syndrome that has been reviewed by medical experts and the Idaho Down Syndrome Council.” The support sheet will also include contact information for Down syndrome support groups and resources, and it will be distributed to health care practitioners, so that they can offer it to parents who receive a Down syndrome diagnosis.
“The goal of this bill is to take that fear and isolation away and provide support and hope,” Mary Murray, President of the Idaho Down Syndrome Council and Vice President of Eastern Idaho Down Syndrome Family Connect, told EastIdahoNews.com.”

Huh…BBC nature show: it has recently been discovered that salmon have a small concentration of iron in their brains; this supposedly helps by working with the earth’s magnetic forces to bring them back to the springs where they were spawned.

EXCERPT: “After more than a decade away from electoral politics, former GOP Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is going back on the ballot for the at-large House seat left vacant by deceased Rep. Don Young who died last month. It’s past time for the former vice-presidential candidate reclaim her stardom as a serious policymaker after the media nearly killed it in 2008.
Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris is everything the media frantically portrayed Palin was about to be 14 years ago. Ignorant, extreme, unprepared, and merely one 70-year-old’s heartbeat away from the presidency. Except while Arizona Sen. John McCain was 71 in 2008, President Joe Biden governs today at 79.
———————
If it were Palin at the podium, Saturday Night Live (SNL) would lead this weekend’s program with Tina Fey returning to reprise her role as the 2008 vice-presidential candidate. In fact, Fey will probably be back on the late-night skits as Palin once again by the end of the year mocking Palin’s run for the House of Representatives as the comedian did when the conservative lightning rod endorsed Trump in 2016.
———————-
Palin, in contrast, was depicted as a dunce when she suggested governing the state closest to the Kremlin-controlled landmass along its arctic border enhanced her foreign policy credentials with Russian land visible from Alaskan territory.
“I can see Russia from my house!” Fey mocked the governor on SNL who returned to the weekly comedy program to play the part.”
