      1. My warped sense of humor does not get offended in the least by un-PC nor unclean jokes. The ones you post are just right up my alley and would pass the Johnny Carson TV standards easily. Love them and You.

          1. Not real great. Was planning to make major post when I get results after Tuesday. Am being pushed into biopsies tomorrow
( Monday) on thyroidand lymph nodes. Knee surgery re-scheduled for March because my A1c is .4 of point over their lab testing scale for the knee guy’s standard range to avoid infection from knee replacement. Endocrinologist put me on Metformin which is screwing with my digestive track bigly. Endo’s here treat high blood sugar and call it good, because they don’t work with people to lower insulin resistance which is the cause of Type2 diabetes. My A1c history is fine when I don’t have ear infection. In other words, they only treat symptoms, not the cause.
I stopped the Metformin yesterday on my own. Neck lymphs went down after anti-biotic but are still there. I know I need another round or two of antibiotics. I waived the white flag and will be needle stabbed tomorrow for biopsies. I might have thyroid cancer, but I am thinking it is thyroiditis.
God is in charge. Prayers are needed for doctors in general…their “best practices” need reassessing.
            Thank you for asking Pat.

            1. I will pray extra hard for you!
I have metabolic syndrome resulting from gestational diabetes…I take several medications for my diabetes–metformin is one of them. my a1c is down to 7…and doc says now it s/b 6.5…I said good luck with that. I eat pretty well within my dietary guidelines, but i eat whatever I want without remorse. LIfe is too short ot eat cardboard. I do exercise daily (get my 10,000 steps/30 minutes) and if I eat a candy bar, I up the exercise a bit more.
I am allergic to most anti biotics, so I try to stay healthy otherwise–it’s all about balance.
please take care of yourself and let me know what happens!!!
I am always hear to talk or just listen!!!

              1. Thank you Pat. I eat Keto, vegies, nuts, seeds, good fats, meats, fish. Metformin messes too much with my GI. For the most part of 20 years, I kept my A1c at 7.1 or under with diet and exercise, even though I can’t exercise walk any more because both knees are bone on bone.

I hit a bunch of problems all at once last March. The only lady part I have left after a complete hysterectomy 30+ years ago decided to produce a bloody mucus after 3 horrible bouts of constipation and over strain on a pilates machine I call the terminator. Really called the transformer. Same time I I finished completely tearing my rotater cuff and arthritic basil thumb joint left side. More later…

                you’ve endured so much!
I will pray for your comfort and healing!!

I have 3 aunts who have all had knee replacements with excellent results—so I hope and will pray that you have one too!!!

              3. Thanks Pat. Had to stop typing to get roast in oven…my fav…pork shoulder roast.

Anyway at the same time with the constipation my roids decided to go nuts so I went to the butt doc to get them banded. Had to tell him about the vag discharge because of the exam. Blood test inaccurately said I had blood in my urine. So he decided that I had a fistula between my bladder and colon and sent me for a ct scan with iodine contrast. Within 6 days I had swollen lymph gland in my neck. That’s when he decided I had lymphoma because I smoke. So he scheduled me for a Ct scan of my torso back and front with barium enema. Thank God, he wrote the order wrong.
Since the local gyn told me to go to a urologist because of the inaccurate test saying blood in urine, thank God, I found the Uro-Gyns at the university teaching hospital downstate. They, within 15 second, in and out cather determined no blood in urine. Just an old hormone deprived vag.

Went to my old GP begging for antibiotics because I knew something was going on in my ears. He wouldn’t prescribe them and got royally pissed that I went out of the Franciscan system to the Uro-Gyns downstate. Had me go to an ENT in the system. ENT shoved a camera down my nose and said I just had normally occurring nodules for someone my age, but I needed to have biopsy on my lymph nodes. Once anything is put into the system, you have a label that all he other docs in the system jump on to CYA.
Prior to that, the first local gyn put me on vag cream med that burned and because he had to CYA, ordered an ultrasound because he needed to confirm that a mass in me was the cervical cuff left in from the 30+ year old hysterectomy. That was done on Palm Sunday. She rammed, literally rammed the device up my old hoo-ha.

On Good Friday, the joint doc gave me cortizone injections in my shoulder and thumb to help put me out of pain, and had me get therapy that helped very much. Unfortunately cortisone injections put my below 7 A1c into the low 8s.

Thank God for the doc in the box who gave me antibiotics for the head infection that somewhat cleared up. Still not gone.

No wonder my A1c is over 7 still.

              4. And all this time my TSH has been fluctuating between low and normal. And the radioactive thyroid scan shows nodules and one lobe enlargement.

The stress around here, besides the normal stress of Christmas, has been awful….from the horrid mess of torn concrete in our basement…Perma Seal guy lied about the potential mess. Had he been honest, we would have covered every shelving unit in our basemen to stop the concrete dust. He swore they do precision laser-like cuts. They literally jackhammered the entire perimeter of a 1400 sq.ft. basement floor…$500 in man hours of cleaning, and we are still eating concrete dust. Bathroom next to our bedroom torn up twice because first guy lied about what he did and didn’t do, fortunately contractor sent another guy out to fix it this week. Now we have been living with the paint smell for 3 days. A1c anyone? LOL.

Sorry for dumping. Thanks big time for the prayers. Please pray that I can forgive the docs for their unnecessary tests of the past and tomorrow.

              5. TY again. See why I hesitate to spill it all to everyone at Marica’s…it almost doesn’t sound real, and the story can be boring. Will probably do a copy and past there from here when I get results after tomorrow’s biopsies.

              6. I take meds for thyroid, cholesterol and diabetes–it’s a metabolic storm—complicated b blindly listening to my doc about taking insulin. I was exercising and watching my weight, but with the insulin I kept gaining weight–I was disgusted. then i heard about trulicity–a weekly injection that cause the body to secrete excess in your urine. I started it, quit the insulin and did everything exactly as I had been. within a year I lost 35 pounds–and my a1c is steady. it’s not in the low range that they are recommending, but i am happy with it.
it’s my life and i research all meds before i change or try something new—I never just blindly accept anything anymore.

I think everyone at Marica’s will understand and pray for you Jane. their belief is their strength and all our prayers together will be that much stronger!!

              7. Wow, you hit the nail on the head several times here. Metabolic storm + research. Endo was going to give me insulin to lower my A1c for surgery…I said no. Accepted the met but can’t tolerate it. Hooking you into my prayers now.

              8. About research and taking control…our niece-inlaw googled diagnosed her leukemia when the local docs were stumped. So did our friend google diagnose accurately something to do with I think his pancreas, so did our DIL who is a D of Pharm diagnose and figure out treatment for her thyroid and why God took back 3 pregnancies.

If Ever start telling what the med peeps did to me as a kid, made me a druggie and I didn’t know it, which almost landed me in a nut house if itweren’t for my brother- in-law to be who interceded. Oi!

              9. Wouldn’t do any good. I believe they are pushed into all kinds of tests just to help pay or the equipment, and to CYA in case of lawsuits…..they have their “best practices” code to fall back on. Unless it’s a teaching hospital, no one thinks out of the textbook. I need “House.” Plus he plays a mean blues/ jazz on the piano. Lol.

              10. I got away from carbs over twenty years ago. I do miss mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, grits made with cream, jalapeños and cheddar and sometimes pasta though.

DH has a sweet tooth, so I do have just a bite of his sweets sometimes. I’m more of a savory person.

              11. I had bread machine breads down to a science but the kids and their families started cutting out breads so I just got rid of my machine.

I grew up on Italian bread, so I know what you mean. I loved the “chew.”
