As you can see from the above photo, (I am on the left) I love Halloween and costumes. My own mother didn’t recognize me when I showed up at her door for Trick or Treat. My father? he knew right away…lol…

And it doesn’t matter if you’re dressing a little one up for Halloween, or you need a costume for yourself, costumes can be expensive!  But a little creativity and a dollar store can turn ordinary into extraordinary!

This OWL costume requires no sewing (you can sew the feathers on, but gluing is fast and easy.) 

You cut the “feathers” out of old t-shirts or (dollar store to the rescue!) get some of their vinyl tablecloths—in any colors you want—and cut the feathers out of those.  If you’re using those instead of gluing, you can simply tape them!  The mask is simply glued to a pair of sunglasses.

If you want to make any sort of bird feet, you’ll need rubber gloves, old shoes, some stuffing and a glue gun.

For making any sort of a hat, here is a great picture of how to make an inexpensive base that can be covered with anything.

Want to be an octopus?  The legs from tights (from the dollar store!) can be stuffed and tied to a belt to wear around the waist.

Do you need a beard and mustache for your costume?  They can be expensive, but with felt, a string and some glue…it’s not expensive at all!

If you’re choosing to be an animal with a mane and a tail (think horse, lion or even unicorn) you could get yarn and cut and tie a lot of lengths together…or you could purchase pompoms from the dollar store.  You may need more than one depending on the fullness you desire.

Wanna be a Minion?  Grab a yellow knit cap and some black pipe cleaners.  The glasses can be made with some black fabric and aluminum foil wrapped around cardboard tubes.

And speaking of cardboard tubes…paint them yellow/orange and glue them to a matching colored shirt to be mac & cheese!

Now if you’re thinking more high tech, and you need a jetpack (LOL), this is a very clever idea.  And it can be upgraded! Plastic soda bottles are painted, then fastened to a strap around the chest.  (Adding a clock dial and changing the color and adding more straps certainly kicks this up a notch!)

If you’re okay with using shirts you won’t wear again, you can make a giraffe costume.  There are 2 ways to do this.  First, get a shirt and pants (if you’re fanatical about having a total costume, lol) in a red/orange/brown color.  Then simply use masking tape to create the look.  This method should not render the clothes unusable afterwards.  The second method will.  Get a white shirt and white sweatpants.  Use masking tape to create the giraffe block pattern, then PAINT the unmasked parts with red/orange/brown paint.  Once dry, remove the masking tape. 

One of the easiest and most clever costumes is the one you don’t have to wear!  It’s a jellyfish.  You get an umbrella, festoon it with twinkle lights and colored streamers.  You can wear a black outfit while you stroll with the umbrella!

I saved this one for last—it’s not cheap or easy I would imagine—I just thought it was just so AWESOME!!!

    Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley demanded the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) give Congress an unredacted brief tracing the steps agencies have taken to probe Hunter Biden’s potentially criminal business ventures.

    In a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, FBI Director Christopher Wray, and Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, Grassley outlined the evidence against the Biden family leveraging White House connections for personal profit from overseas adversaries.

    “Since May 31, 2022, I’ve written three letters to the Justice Department and FBI based on protected whistleblower disclosures that indicate a pattern and practice of political decisions being made at the FBI’s Washington Field Office (WFO) and FBI Headquarters,” Grassley wrote. “In response, my office has received a significant number of protected communications from highly credible whistleblowers which have increased since my initial outreach to your offices.”

    In July, Grassley’s office published a whistleblower report revealing double standards within the FBI and DOJ related to investigations into Biden’s conduct compared to that of former President Donald Trump. Washington Field Office Assistant Special Agent in Charge Timothy Thibault and Director of Election Crimes Branch Richard Pilger, whistleblowers alleged, coordinated to amplify defamatory information against Trump while giving cover to Hunter Biden, dismissing intelligence about the current president’s family as disinformation.

    “Multiple FBI whistleblowers, including those in senior positions,” Grassley’s office explained, “are raising the alarm about tampering by senior FBI and Justice Department officials in politically sensitive investigations ranging from election and campaign finance probes across multiple election cycles.”

    Three months later, Grassley is demanding an end to the agencies’ “continued silence” and calling on them to give Congress and the American people an update on federal investigations into misconduct that jeopardizes national security.

    “Notably, the Justice Department and FBI have not disputed the accuracy of the allegations that I have made public since May 31, 2022,” Grassley wrote in a letter Thursday. “Simply put, enough is enough — the Justice Department and FBI must come clean to Congress and the American people with respect to the steps they have taken, or failed to take, relating to the Hunter Biden investigation.”

    In August, another whistleblower report emerged from Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson’s office alleging FBI agents actively sought to dismiss incriminating evidence against the Biden family amid the 2020 election.

    Multiple whistleblowers, according to Johnson’s office, “intentionally undermined efforts to investigate Hunter Biden.”

    Two days later, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted Facebook colluded with the FBI to suppress stories surrounding the Biden family business ventures as Americans cast ballots in October 2020.

    “The FBI basically came to us and spoke to some folks on our team and was like, ‘Hey, just so you know, you should be on high alert. We thought that there was a lot of Russian propaganda on the 2016 election. We have it on notice that basically there’s about to be some kind of dump similar to that,’” Zuckerberg said on the Joe Rogan Podcast.

    Earlier this month, The Washington Post reported that agents under Weiss, the U.S. attorney conducting an investigation into Hunter Biden’s potential tax crimes since 2018, “have gathered what they believe is sufficient evidence to charge” the younger Biden.

    Grassley gave the FBI and DOJ an Oct. 27 deadline to issue a series of reports chronicling the FBI’s conduct since October 2020 when former Biden business partner Tony Bobulinski blew the whistle on the first family’s overseas ventures.

    “I think Joe Biden and the Biden family is compromised,” Bobulinski told Fox News one week before Biden was elected president. Bobulinski warned the new president was compromised by the Chinese Communist Party in particular, which, emails indicate, was slated to funnel money to the former vice president.

    Bobulinski also gave an interview to the FBI that fall outlining the conflicts of interest that surrounded Joe Biden as the new president prepared to take over the Oval Office.

    “The Justice Department’s and FBI’s continued silence on these matters is deafening and further erodes their credibility,” Grassley wrote last week.

    GOP Representative Dan Crenshaw of Texas appears to have the same problem as Democrat Representative Ilhan Omar, the Minnesota Muslim. The neoconservative congressmen has been self-dealing by permitting his campaign to pay a consultancy that employs his wife.

    Crenshaw is an amateur compared to Omar, who funneled millions into her husband’s political consultancy. But records the Daily Caller obtained from the Federal Election Commission show that Crenshaw did indeed pull an Omar and funnel money to a company that employs his spouse.

    350 Big Ones

    Crenshaw has paid the firm Pink Cilantro, “a boutique branding agency based in Houston, Texas,” the Caller reported, since 2020, although the outfit’s website is offline because the agency is “rebranding” itself. Records show $350,000 in payments to the company, which employs Crenshaw’s wife. But she doesn’t do campaign work.

    “Pink Cilantro is listed in Crenshaw’s financial disclosure report as ‘Spouse salary,’” the Caller continued:

    ‘The Caller pressed [owner Basya] Benshushan about how much Tara Crenshaw has been paid by Pink Cilantro, as it is not applicable in Crenshaw’s financial disclosure report. Benshushan said he checked with her accountant and found that their agency has paid Tara Crenshaw more than $60,000.

    “Tara works for the digital marketing firm Pink Cilantro, which has been compensated by the campaign for services rendered in full compliance with all applicable rules,” a Crenshaw spokesperson told the Caller.

    Benshushan explained that Tara Crenshaw did not have an actual salary but was paid on commission. Benshushan also told the Caller that Pink Cilantro only has 12 employees.’

    Tara Crenshaw is a 1099 employee, meaning she is an independent contractor. Another of Pink Cilantro’s customers, the Caller reported, is GOP renegade Representative Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, a hate-Trump turncoat. His campaign has dumped $500,000 into the consultancy since 2021.

    Omar’s Millions

    Of the two, Omar’s is the far bigger scandal, and not just because she paid husband Tim Mynett’s consultancy millions for its “work” before her campaign finally cut him off, likely because someone might land in legal hot water.

    Omar carried on an adulterous affair with Mynett while he was married to his wife, who fingered Omar as a home-wrecker in divorce papers. After denying the affair, the couple was caught shacked up in Washington, D.C., after which they married.

    Omar and Crenshaw, of course, aren’t the only House members who make campaigns a family affair. Leftist Representative Maxine Waters’ campaign has paid her daughter more than $1 million, Fox News disclosed in February, and has continued to pay her at least through June. The campaign “shelled out another $16,500 to her daughter in June, adding to the more than $1.2 million the congresswoman has paid her daughter over the past nearly two decades,” Fox reported:

    ‘Karen Waters, who has been organizing slate-mailing operations to bolster her mother’s re-election since 2003, and her company, Progressive Connections, have received more than $1.2 million from Waters’ campaign.…

    In 2004, the Los Angeles Times revealed that the Waters campaign had shelled out over $1 million to other family members over the previous eight years. Waters defended the practice at the time, telling the paper, “They do their business, and I do mine.”

    In fiscal 2021, the New York Post reported, Waters’ campaign paid the daughter $81,650. Waters, a hard-left crackpot who threatened to “socialize” the oil industry in 2008, promised riots if the jury in the trial of Derek Chauvin, falsely accused of “murdering” drug addict and career criminal George Floyd, did not return a guilty verdict.”
